Taqueria La Chiapaneca

Probably the best tacos I’ve tasted in Tulum. They have a big courtyard at the back of the restaurant and even though they have 4 options beef, pork, chicken & vegetarian they all taste so different based on the bread you have it with. My favorite was the asada tacos, there was a slice of grilled pineapple which made it burst with flavors!

This restaurant is towards the end of the main road that goes through Tulum. This is a must go to spot for people who love Al pastor (pork) in any vessel! The flame spit in the front roasts the pork fresh. We ordered an Al pastor torta, pollo and asada salbutes, al pastor tacos, Al pastor tostadas, guacamole, and some Jamaica juice. The star of the show is the pork! While the chicken and beef were also good, we kept ordering more Al pastor in different forms and even ended up buying the pastor by the kilo to bring some back to our hotel! The green and red salsas have great flavor, with the red one having a great kick from the habanero peppers. There is also a small salad bar for you to top your meal with onions, cilantro, radishes, or cabbage. We are so happy we found this small little spot, and will be enjoying the 1 kg of pork we bought to go (which came with tortillas, salsa, and the fresh veggies).

The best tacos I've ever eaten, for more than a decade now. New location is lovely, al pastor is as delicious as ever. Don't miss it!

I first discovered Taquería La Chiapaneca two years ago while staying in Tulum, and I was so excited to return in 2025. This place is absolutely fantastic! They’ve moved to a new location, which now has a beautiful inner yard where you can enjoy your food outdoors in a relaxed setting. The menu is available in both Spanish and English, so ordering is easy even if you don’t speak Spanish. They offer a great variety of beers, plus sodas and water, and the prices are very reasonable and affordable. I truly love this place and will definitely come back whenever I’m in Tulum. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic tacos and a great atmosphere!

Simply the best in Tulum. It’s popular for a reason. I’ve tried 10+ places this week and the al pastor here is always my favorite. I’ve been coming here for 5+ years at their old location, and I was worried when I saw they moved. I was happy to find that the tacos are just as good, if not better at the new location! Their back garden area is very nice

Was really bummed by our experience here tonight. We did a large takeout order for our group of 6. Not only did we find 3 black hairs in one of our items, the guacamole they gave us was brown, and they forgot our empanadas order. Super disappointed. After we found the hairs we couldn’t eat anything more. One hair can happen- but we found 3. Only took a pic of the last one, after throwing the other ones away. Hate to leave such a bad review, this was multiple errors…

Best tacos in Tulum! Amazing al Pastor and Carne de Res, highly recommended.🌮🌮 At the moment the place has the wrong address since it’s still at their old location. It should be corrected.

Unbeatable prices for Tulum. The Tacos al Pastor were really good, but we can’t recommend the beef ones. It was quite busy, and the staff could have been more attentive – we had to wait quite a while and were seated right next to the restroom. Probably better for takeout.
