The 13 Best Al Pastor Tacos In Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"The menu at this small Mexican restaurant off Braker Lane spans everything from breakfast tacos to birria de chivo and enchiladas, all of it served with some of the best handmade corn tortillas in town. Most days, the al pastor comes straight off the spit, but even if you show up on an afternoon where it doesn’t, the meat is still tender and full of flavor. Whatever time you go, save room for a carne asada taco—it’s the only thing we (somehow) like more than the al pastor." - nicolai mccrary

Taqueria La Montaña - Review - North Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"The menu at this small Mexican restaurant off Braker Lane spans everything from breakfast tacos to birria de chivo and enchiladas, all of it served with some of the best handmade corn tortillas Austin has to offer. Most days, the al pastor comes straight off the trompo, but even if you show up on an afternoon where it doesn’t, the meat is still tender and full of flavor. The place doesnt say much from outside, but im so happy we gave it a shot. Amaazing tacos, loaded and meaty, great stuff. Chilaquiles were great. Very nice folks too! I believe they are moving into a newer building too. Dont miss you chance, its worth it!

One word : impressive ! The tacos have so much flavors and tasty. The meat seems so fresh and crunchy onions and veggies. Doesn’t look much from outside, but the food and welcoming is insane. Well done !

My friend and I came to eat and ordered two cokes, the cokes were flat so she asked for a new one. The owner refused to exchange it and took her outside and poured half her coke on the floor to “prove” it wasn’t flat, then gave her the half empty coke to drink. She told him she wanted a new one, specially since he had poured it out. He finally agreed to a new one and we left it at that. Well as we were leaving one of the employees stopped us and loudly told us in front of other clients that we had to pay before we left, we paid when we ordered so this request was confusing. Another back and forth ensued because we were confused as to why we had to pay for a drink that the owner poured out. Finally the owner walked in and told her it was fine. It was such a bad costumer service experience we are never coming back.

The food was absolutely outstanding — better than any place we’ve tried, and the prices were very reasonable. The dining environment was average, but that doesn’t matter. We even packed some food to go for the kids and will definitely come back.
