"Starting as a small street taco stall, La Ventana has grown into a food giant, garnering a large following into its massive outdoor patio. Find out why this taqueria is the talk of the town with their lengua tacos and churros for dessert. There’s no going wrong with anything on the menu, especially paired with a cup of elote and a pineapple margarita on the rocks." - Charity Chukwu

Best quick appetite fulfilling if you only want a drink and taco. I had the shrimp it was cooked to perfection. Margarita is excellent. Gives you a good buzz

Google
The habanero mango margarita was great! There were actual bits of habanero in it, which I loved. The burrito was okay, but a little bland. I was surprised that no salsa was offered? But I also didn't ask for any either. I just assumed it was a given. No one at my table was offered any salsa either. I'd come back for the margarita alone, so it's fine, either way.

Rafaela Martinez

Google
Honestly, some of the best tacos in the city, especially al pastor. Salad is also a solid choice. So good, affordable and consistent. The margaritas are just as good, all the flavors. Happy hour is great! Recently had their nachos, def recommend for the table.

Google
The street tacos are simple, affordable, and well-made. We really enjoyed the nachos! The hot sauces are a must for that little extra kick!

Rod G

Google
Wow! The Pozole Rojo is absolutely delicious! 😋 I got it to go, and I was a bit hesitant at first, but it's so authentic and flavorful. We'll definitely be ordering it again!

Google
My gf and I have been searching high and low in Dallas for GOOD street tacos and we’ve found our place after two years! We had a set spot we always went to but it’s about 20 mins away, but finding out this place is 1 mile away we are now loyal to them after two tries. lol

Google
Great place to chill with friends or alone. Person in charge Jerry is always welcoming. Always makes sure we are good. He walks around to greet others. Cleans up if tables have not been wiped down. The other staff are great too. Looks like they all get along really well. All in all its an awesome place except the trash being near the tables which attracts flies which is annoying. Setting trash cans away from the nearest table may be something to consider. I shall continue coming back, enjoy myself each time i go there.

Google
We found this place on accident but I was so happy we did. The pastor quesadilla was so good and big enough I had left overs. All of their salsas were fantastic! The elotes were fantastic. During happy hour, the margaritas are so cheap! The staff were all very friendly. I would definitely come back here!

Yelp
Always great service and great people! I want to thank Yesenia for Excellent Service. She always greets and take very good care of all customers. Vernon

Yelp
first time visit, last time visit, we came here for lunch based on rave reviews, and found it incredibly disappointing. I had the pork tacos, which had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. My husband had the Carnitas tacos, which were as dry as the Sahara desert. Thanks, but no thanks.

Raynaldo O.

Yelp
I love this place. The best night cap after drinking all night on the strip. It's usually busy but always quick compared to getting pizza nearby. I always get the quesadillas but the queso isn't the best here. They do have alcoholic drinks and plenty of items to meet your needs without breaking the bank. They are open late-ish I believe and have parking in the back.

Lupita M.

Yelp
This place is great!!!! I was on the search for authentic tacos and this is the place. Also their corn is absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend trying the tacos and having a corn on the side. The service was very fast and the places over was great! I've been twice and I'm going to keep going because the tacos were that good.

Yelp
Wow. What has happened to this place in the last year? It's dirty. Patio full of garbage and broken lights. Inside dirty. Kitchen looks dirty. Now they use foam for the bowls? Greasy. Really greasy tacos. Staff is rude. Did it change hands? Or Management? This was the "go to" spot and now is just kinda... gross. I dunno. Sad. Won't be back anytime soon. .

Lukas S.

Yelp
This is a great spot to take a large group. The seating is first come, but you can move tables together, etc. to accommodate your group size. The margaritas were fantastic and they had a great selection of flavors with fixings on the rims of the cups. The food was all delicious, too. We went prior to a long night out - but feel that this would hit the spot as a late night snack too ;)

John B.

Yelp
Not sure why all the hype. Starting with the good.....good location. Nice covered outside patio. Very friendly staff with quick service. To be fair, I should have known I wouldn't have like the food when I asked what came in the burrito. When they said white rice, that should have been an instant red flag to just leave. Instead I ordered differently. I ordered steak tacos (bisteak). I can't cook Mexican food to save my life, but I could have made them better. The meat was dry and had absolutely no flavor. I was shocked. Street taco style with onions and cilantro. I even added the salsa verde and that didn't really help. It was a lost cause. I also ordered a cheese quesadilla. It was good, but it's hard to screw that up. It was a large flour tortilla folded in half, cut into 4 pieces. Pretty standard. Also dipped it in the salsa verde which was a nice touch. Again, not sure what they hype is here. Maybe other items are delicious. If you want AMAZING steak tacos, go to El Come Taco on Fitzhugh.

Yelp
The Elotes!! Creamy, spicy and overall worth it! Love the tacos! Great margs. Super quick and easy to order. 100% recommend. Classic street tacos.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
A solid spot to enjoy a casual meal. The street tacos hit the spot and the ingredients always taste fresh. Their bowls and quesadillas are tasty too. The margaritas are decent, especially for the price, I just wish they were a little stronger. The ambiance at this location is nothing special, but fine if you're just looking for a casual/quick place to eat.

Melissa M.

Yelp
M-m-m! Came here after getting a pedicure! Amazing! I got the vegetarian tacos and elote! Top notch! I also got the sangria, so refreshing! I will definitely come back for more!

Richa T.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots for Mexican Food Pros: + Affordable + Friendly and fast service + Open Lage + Great portions + Have to love the Quest + Some of the creamiest elote (Mexican Street Corn) you have ever had + Churros so delicious they taste like you went to heaven + Amazing tacos - great variety + Vegetarian friendly

Lauren S.

Yelp
I ordered a chicken burrito and received a shrimp burrito. I am allergic to shrimp and knew immediately to throw it away. I went back up to the server and asked for chicken as I had ordered. He looked me in the eye and said I ordered shrimp and refused to rectify the issue. His name was Jonathan. No refund or a burrito I was able to eat. Luckily I just break into hives and don't go into anaphylactic shock when I eat shrimp, but his mistake could've been costly to someone else. Not to mention the lack of apology or fixing of any issue.

RICHARD J.

Yelp
Every time I come to Dallas I always have to stop at LV to get the elotes. The food is amazing but late it gets kinda

Anna C.

Yelp
One of my new go to spots! It's right down the street from my apartment so super convenient. As someone who recently moved here from California I was in search of a place with good street tacos with onions and cilantro instead of the Tex- Mex that is everywhere here. The place is super cute and unique inside, and has a lot of seating! Yummy, cute, and fun!

Cat N.

Yelp
Food is bomb and I love that we can get alcohol to go . They have this two tubs of margarita for $25. I mean tub as in the soup containers you get when order to go. Yeah that one filled with alcohol. Imagine that. Also imagine yourself walking down oak lawn with alcohol in your hand. Pretty happy sight eh? I had a bad week and needed a ton of alcohol. Ended up finishing one tub by myself. You can pick a flavor each tub or same flavor for both. I got pineapple margarita and tamarindo. I forgot to ask for tajin but I'm here to tell you not to make same mistake I did. Ask for tajin! Food was great from what I remember. My memory is hazy from the tub of margarita. I got a chicken bowl and it was good! Churro salad also good. I'm pretty happy I found this place. I will be a regular here.

Mary D.

Yelp
Gem for dining on a budget in the heart of Oak Lawn. It's my go-to for any friend visiting from out-of-town. Highlights are spicy mango margarita with tamarind straw and tajin rim in addition to beef fajita bowl with shrimp tacos on the side. Now imagine all of this and a side of quick service. There's also something so comfortable and homey about eating in such colorful atmosphere! I love that I can come here in my scrubs, in my sweats, and as I am. Service - takes Apple Pay (yay)! Lines aren't long even though the place can be busy on Saturdays - especially brunch/lunch time and late night. Efficient service. Food is ready in 7-10min (honestly feels less). You're given a name that's then called when food is ready. Space - it doesn't look large but fits quite a bit of people. My friends's dodgeball team loves coming here to eat after a game. I love the colorful ambience. Food - affordable and delicious. I usually overeat and order a steak fajita bowl, the Fresca salad, 1 fried shrimp taco, chips with salsa to share, and a spicy mango margarita. I don't even like margaritas. This is a lot of food and all under $20-30? Oh, and there's a happy hour for delicious margaritas! Parking - theres street parking in front and a parking lot in the back. I've never had issues finding a parking spot. Maybe there are other more "authentic taquieras," but I love this place!

Kaila D.

Yelp
Came to this cute little taco shop on Cinco De Mayo. Free parking behind the building, but you have to be a little aggressive. Not sure if there is always a line or just cause it was a holiday. It went quick though both times we dined that night. They only had tacos for us to order. They were bomb considering we went back twice to eat. I really wanted some elotes which is why I gave the place 4 stars. Will probably be back or try another location.

Alan K.

Yelp
It appears that Taqueria La Ventana has a couple of locations all over the DFW Metroplex. I remember that this place was Cafe Brazil before the pandemic hit and forced Cafe Brazil to be closed forever in Oaklawn. However, I like having more cheap eats around this neighborhood especially when you've had a couple of drinks and want some hardy food to absorb the alcohol. I had the asada bowl while my friend had some variety of tacos. We also got the chips and guacamole which was also decent. I would recommend sitting outside as inside was really crowded. The restaurant was purposely adding stool chairs to accommodate more people inside. We are still in a pandemic, so maybe adding the stool chairs isn't the best idea for social distancing.

Jayden Y.

Yelp
After running errands these are the best nachos I've had in a while 10/10 recommend, also ask for a side of queso to drizzle on your nachos!

Grindy S.

Yelp
Darn good taco joint food for a quick bite or full meal. They stick to the essentials and unpretentiously deliver value.

Breanna T.

Yelp
So I heard about they margaritas and babbbyyyyy they was hitting!! They're cheese dip was good too. But I would only come back for their drinks. Tacos were pretty average.

Larry B.

Yelp
Overpriced tacos. Cheese tacos aren't worth $3 each. The same price as a barbacoa taco btw. They need to do better pricing on what they are serving. Go to a mom and pop taco place and support them. This is as bad as Torchy's Tacos. Expensive and taking advantage of our culture.

Denise P.

Yelp
My favorite place to dine at! Customer service is amazing and food is delicious!! Yesenia always remembers us and makes sure we are taken care of! Gracias Yesenia!!

Thomas M.

Yelp
Trash terrible don't go here. Burrito was just lettuce and meat w way too much rice so horrible how does a self respecting Mexican restaurant think this is an acceptable flavor combo. Disgraceful and disgusting. Red salsa was good tho

Lane P.

Yelp
I have relatively few guilty pleasures, but La Ventana is certainly one of them. These are easily the best street tacos in the Dallas area. Conveniently located on "the strip" on Cedar Springs in Dallas, this is a great place to grab a bite to eat if you're out hitting the bars in the area. It's small, so indoor seating is very limited. However, on nice days, they have ample outdoor seating, which is what I prefer anyway. La Ventana is popular (for a reason), so don't be surprised if you show up to a line out the door. Don't go elsewhere, though. They are very efficient and can plow through even the longest lines very quickly. For food, street tacos are really what they're known for and what I typically get. However, I've also gotten the quesadillas and the chips before and have never been disappointed. My personal favorites are the Camaron tacos and the Pastor tacos. They also have a spicy margarita that hits the spot every time. The atmosphere is very authentic and the service always friendly and professional. Definitely worth a stop.

Charis S.

Yelp
I mean honestly, EVERYTHING is good here! You can't help BUT to order the whole menu - the red salsa, it's served warm, dip your chip in the guac first THEN the salsa, OMG it's addicting. I kid you not! And then, their elote! The small side, it's so much, I can't imagine how big the large is! Served hot, with queso fresco, butter, mayo, so freaking good! And their frozen pineapple margarita, it might be one of the best frozen cocktails I've ever had. Cold, sweet, refreshing, I couldn't stop sipping!

Ryan C.

Yelp
They certainly don't go past skimping you lol always really nice customer service but they once charged me the price of a full extra elites bc I wanted extra corn. It's corn. Poor people food. Pennies.

Grace W.

Yelp
The food was very good and affordable. It's a wonderful place for a quick bite to eat and to hangout. The tacos were great and would recommend the chips and queso! Definitely coming back here.

Elisa T.

Yelp
Wow and when i say wow. I love tacos and its always hard to find a taco place with consistency in the way their meat tastes. My favorite will always be carnitas and al pastor, a pork taco is always the way to go. The carnitas is perfectly shredded and has the right amount if moisture. Add some of that green sauce on you're solid. The elotes were good as well but i have definitely has more flavorful ones before. The price and quality everything about this taco place is to die for. I will have this as one my staples.

Jolene J.

Yelp
Do not sleep on their churros!!! If you like cajeta, they have cajeta churros! When I crave churros, this is where I go. (I've never craved churros prior to trying theirs) For tacos - fantastic meat flavor, but the tortilla was lacking in terms of texture and flavor. You can find better and cheaper ones in south Dallas, but this is oak lawn so up-charge is to be expected. Ensalada - refreshing flavor but the lettuce and the spring mix weren't the most fresh. They have a small parking lot in the back so no stress! Their outside patio is also super cute!

Elvira S.

Yelp
This shit was fucking delicious!!! I had all the breakfast tacos and I've never been so satisfied with the taco quality. I have been to every single La Ventana location on the metroplex and this location has THE BEST QUALITY food of all. The service, it could use a little polishing BUT there was NOTHING that was so unpolished about my experience that I feel the need to point out to you right now. I. Will. Be. Back. To. This. Location. My favorite. Hands down no questions asked.

Semhar M.

Yelp
This review is strictly on the delicious frozen margaritas my husband and I got to enjoy on a spontaneous date night. These Texas summers are always better accompanied with a cold drink in your hand. We took advantage of a quiet Monday evening while waiting for our takeout order next door and figured margs were a good idea. They were good and cheap. The best part? Seeing the rainbow colored crosswalks that celebrate PRIDE in Dallas from the patio. :)

Amanda W.

Yelp
I ordered a bowl and a few tacos to-go. When I picked up my order the food was ready but without explaining the cashier started going through my bag. She took out the container with the bowl and explained something to the lady that was cooking (that lady was wearing gloves). Then a guy WHO WAS WEARING NO GLOVES came from the back, opened my food and USED HIS BARE HANDS to take the meat off the bowl. Literally scooped it up with his bare hands... along with the cheese, onions, and tomatoes. Handed that to the lady with gloves and she added different meat. They bagged it up and the cashier finally explained that the wrong meat was added the first time. I asked why that guy was preparing food with no gloves and she said "that's a great question" then walked away from the counter started talking to another employee and avoided interacting with me. So I left.. with my disgusting order and no apology... and no lettuce/tomatoes/onions.

Trinity J.

Yelp
11/10 recommend! I got queso, elote, chicken tacos, brisket tacos, asada tacos, beans, churros, quesadillas, a pineapple habanero marg, and watermelon margarita. All of it was sooo so so good! I think the queso and elote was my fav. The queso just had a yum yum flavor and the elote had great proportions. The beans are black beans there. This place was also good vibes. Bright, fun colors, lively music, indoor seating, outdoor seating, covered outdoor seating, and heating lamps. The people were very nice. You order up front, sit down anywhere, and pick up your food when your number is called. Food was pretty quick too!

Melody V.

Yelp
Delicious, authentic tacos!!! Literally such a great spot especially after day drinking. This is a no frills style taqueria so don't expect to be waited on hand and foot. They don't have nachos but you can ask for the chips + queso with beef on the side. The barbacoa tacos are really good and they serve breakfast tacos ALL day (yes, you read that right). They had a Black Rose Marg specials when I went which is charcoal and frozen like margarita which was really good. This place is extremely affordable for Dallas standards. I paid for 2 margaritas, 2 tacos, and nachos for me and my fiance which came out to be under $20.

Joshua K.

Yelp
It may not look like much from the outside, but this taqueria boasts an active inclusive environment on the inside with excellent service. The food is very good and fairly quick. Definitely a good place to hit later in the evening after having a few drinks on the "strip".

Jared H.

Yelp
TLV is by far, one of the best options in the Gayborhood. It's always good food, the few times I've been, & it's so filling. Price is on point as well, & they have some of the best Margaritas around. Come & check it out if you haven't yet! Also, they keep the tables, floors & more clean really well, which says a lot. A+++ -- will keep coming back!

Ben P.

Yelp
Best Taqueria in Texas. The pastor and cameron were great. Make sure to add a margarita and an elote!

BB E.

Yelp
Dope spot with great food. You can't go wrong with some tacos and a margarita. Great service too.

Michelle D.

Yelp
Let me start by saying, I love this place. We live in the neighborhood. So, we're here all the time. Recently, we did not have the best experience. Gotta share the good with the bad. So, here we go. My friends and I met here. Mind you, it is Winter during a Pandemic. So, we took the risk of waiting outdoors. Still, upon visit, one could see that were are heating lamps. There was no available seating indoors. This particular venue is smaller. So, that was understandable. Upon request to turn on said lamps, the staff replied that it wouldn't be possible. We waited it out and were able to squeeze into a booth. It was warm. So, we elected to order frozen drinks. Upon doing so, the staff proceeded to turn over trashcans, in clear view, and smash ice into them. When my company realized what was going on, transferring items from their trash to their slush machines, we were aghast. We promptly said "we'll have our drinks as is" (not frozen). The food itself: we ordered burritos, tacos, queso, and eloté. The meal came relatively quickly. I would say the eloté needed to be stirred a little more. Other than that, the food was tasty. I know we are all trying to do our best during this time. Still, the lack of opportunity for heating lamps and trashcan drinks were a turn off. As I mentioned, we love this place. We will soon be in our coldest months, here. I hope these issues are resolved and soon.

Michael M.

Yelp
This location has great customer service and delicious fast Mexican food. The margaritas come in any flavor and are super delicious as a cool slush. Chilaquiles have a little kick which is the perfect amount of spice. I will definitely return the next time I'm in town from Los Angeles. Outdoor seating with the colorful walls make any spot an Instagram worthy location. Perfect for pictures and fun with all the hip shaking music.

Amy H.

Yelp
Food: BEST CHURROS, I've ever had. Their perfectly crispy with some sort of creamy sweet filling. They serve breakfast all day which is cool but takes forever when you order in the evenings. Quesadillas and tacos were on par with other Tex mex I've had. Unique margaritas. Atmosphere: This place is so colorful and cute. The music is good but it gets interrupted every minute it seems like by the workers calling out names.

Charlotte R.

Yelp
I went at 8pm on Thursday to place a takeout order. I was able to order within 10m, but at took almost 30m to get my order- which was guac and chips, queso and chips, and elote. At least I know it's fresh! I wasn't super impressed with the elote- I felt like maybe they forget to add seasoning or something. But the queso was amazing. I am only in Dallas visiting, but I would try it again.

Lauren M.

Yelp
Really cute with really great little tacos and chips. The lengua was so good and the food comes out insanely fast. Love bringing people from out of town here.

James S.

Yelp
$9.75 for small margarita???? They stopped offering the large which was the same price and the small was around $5.75. Inflation or Pride Weekend? Two drinks and could buy an entire bottle of alcohol. Guess they prefer people party at home. Sad that businesses take advantage like this. Food and drinks are good, but damn!!!!!

Dayton R.

Yelp
Overall great spot. The guacamole is really good along with the Mango Chamoy Margarita! The Elote was pretty good. Only reason for the 4 stars is the taco were not that good (shell was tough and it was overall small), but looking at what everyone else ordered it looks like the quesadilla is the move!

Olivia E.

Yelp
No salad dressing, salsa is like watered down soup, and my $4 tiny guacamole and $4 tiny queso weren't even full. I don't usually have issues with this location but this is just disappointing.

Brenna H.

Yelp
Best freakin Elote and queso around. Cheap, delicious frozen margaritas. Beautiful covered patio. Like the hidden gem taco trucks but with AC (if you choose to stay inside.) highly recommend.

Ronsurf ..

Yelp
Always hits the spot. Open late, delicious, you won't regret it. Outside seating or pickup only.

Molly S.

Yelp
The service is horrible. We have been multiple times when the restaurant was very busy, and employees were taking up the few booths that were available. They do not care about customers AT ALL.
