Called to placed a pick up order. The lady told me 10 minutes, and the food was ready on time. For my orders, I wanted Quesabirria Tacos, that comes with consome (dipping soup) and they tasted quite good. A better touch would be to make them more crispy, crunchy. The red clear container is spicy sauce, compliments the seasoning. 2nd order was Asada tacos, got 4 (2 no onions) these were my favorite. Adding lime was good, but I was missing Salt packets, not sure if that is something they provide, but definitely missing radish, thats a killer for me, that little bit ties the Taco experience for me. I wish they would also provide a grill Chile Verde, thats very common in other Mexican taquerias, its almost provided most of the time. The clear red sauce helps out too, but I would ask that provide a more mild green sauce in case one doesn’t want spicy all of the time. Complimented my order with 1 bottle of coke (glass 1/2 liter, could split between 2) and 1 Jarrito Tamarindo. Total $33 and change for take out. Calling ahead is good for take out, eating in they have plenty of tables and the wait is normal for dining in.

Google
Drove here expressly for birria tacos. Researched the menu before going. It says they are available for $2.75 each, but my server insisted they only are available for a plate of 3 for $13.99. I figured why not, this is why I came. Then I asked for a coke, I was told it only comes in bottles (from Mexico) so it's like $4.50. I'm seeing a pattern here. They have a full service bar, do they really open a $4.50 coke when anyone orders a rum and coke, no way. The food arrives and looks good, lots of meat but, the beef has ZERO flavor or seasonings. It like it's boiled in water. I can't locate any cheese until I get to the very bottom of the tortillas, sprinkling of cheese. The consume was full of flavor but had nothing to show the beef has been cooked in it. It was just a spice broth. I recommend you save your time and money and go elsewhere. I ended spending $22 dollars for a lunch that was more food than I wanted, poorly seasoned and didn't enjoy. Even though I scanned the menu before going to be sure I could get what I wanted. "Those tacos and a fountain drink of coke are not available". I won't be back to endure to bait and switch tactics they use here.

The big deal here is the food. Drool. Such huge portions also. I met some girlfriends here. None of us had ever been here before but we were up for an adventure. Two of us got tacos. I had ACP and ordered tacos to go for my son and a vegetarian burrito to go for my husband. So very yummy! The service was great, perfect English spoken here. The atmosphere is kind of rustic and hole in the wall type vibe. The atmosphere isn’t the big deal here. If I bothers you, get to go food. You can eat one serving for several meals. My son enjoyed the bria tacos the best of the three he tried. My husband raved about his burrito and my ACP was heavenly. These guys know how to cook!

Google
This has become my absolute favorite Mexican place. The food is fresh and SO flavorful. I had to meet the chef and give me the praise he deserves for his amazing cooking. Must try pozole!

Google
One of the best Mexican Restaurants I have been to in the US. We ordered the fresh guacamole and it was delicious. We had a vegetarian salad which was a medley of grilled zucchini, onions peppers with tasty refried beans in the base of the tortilla bowl. My husband had one of the burritos with chicken and beef. He loves it! Super nice staff too.

Google
WORST FOOD!!! Do NOT eat here, the most flavorless hispanic food in charlotte. The owner is rude and its not a suprise why there is no business here. The full staff is not all on the same page being that one worker told me to call back later in the week when the owner was in to issue a refund, however, when I called that day the manager was extremely rude and told me it was pass the time at which issuing a refund was possible!! No ones on the same page, there is no communication. and the meat server in ALL of the tacos has a horrible taste!!! DO NOT EAT HERE if you want good food!!!

Google
These were the best tamales I’ve had and the enchiladas were great. Their dinner combinations are a great deal and you get a lot of great food (pictured). Our waitress was so kind and the service was very fast overall, I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Yelp
It's a very small restaurant but the food and drinks are really good. I was advised that the Mexican food & cocktails was good and prices couldn't be beat. I found out it was true. My quesadilla and cheese sauce with beef was delicious and huge! Cocktail my daughter ordered was really good. Good customer service.

Yelp
Small restaurant with BIG flavor! Great service and fair pricing too! Drink specials each day too if you want! Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Authentic, delicious and budget friendly. Oh, and hands down the best guacamole I have ever had!!

Yelp
I made a reservation online for 7PM on Cinco de Mayo. The restaurant sits in the corner of a small strip mall. Upon entering, I encountered about 8 customers standing between two side tables against the wall and 3-4 booths. It was crowded, to say the least. I maneuvered my way to the front as I had a reservation. I noticed the restaurant is very small with no more than 12 tables that will seat either 2-4 customers. It was VERY busy. No one ever checked for my reservation as it didn't seem to matter. Most of the people standing in the entry way had to go orders and were quickly gone. I noticed one table further inside was preparing to leave. The waitress tried to sit the two of us at a double table against the wall where people enter the restaurant but I shook my head no. She gave in and sat us at the now available booth. Service was spotty. On this day, yes, we wanted margaritas. I ordered the regular (lemon) and my friend ordered the mango frozen margarita. Mine was okay and did not include a salt rim. I requested it later and she brought me another glass with a salted rim. My friend didn't like the mango version at all and didn't drink it. She ordered a Sprite instead and it was served cold, in a bottle. Now the food was delicious! For an appetizer, we had queso with ground beef and chips (5/5). I can't find the name of my entree but it was queso and beef with rice and beans (5/5). It was supposed to come with tortillas but they never arrived. It took a little work to get our check when we were done eating. There were 3 of them working in the restaurant, along with a man at the counter, and I don't know how many in the kitchen. My suggestion is to get the food by ordering online. You may want to order in person the first time to identify your favorites. Then, the order can be ready when you arrive. I plan to order the same dish when I am in the area as I don't prefer eating inside the restaurant at all. Food - 5/5 Service - 3/5 Restaurant environment - 2/5

Yelp
Keep searching for a place!! Lol Thought I found a good hole in the wall, especially by the 4.2 star they have on Yelp, but this place was very disappointing. The menu prices are good considering inflation and all of that. But the food sucks. The salsa was horrible. The first salsa brought out had the consistency of water. I have never seen it so thin. So I asked for a spicer salsa and a new one came with the same consistency. The meat here has no flavor. Quesa-Birria Tacos came with cheese dip inside instead of the traditional melting cheese. The consomme was full of birria fat. Overall the food was MID. Not worth the money. Let's talk service - very slow service even though the place was not packed. No refills. Loved dropping stuff off and running away before checking everything was okay. I won't be back and I don't recommend trying it out. I have no idea how this place has a 4 star. I'm from Atlanta and I'm convinced the people in Charlotte do not know good food lol especially if they're used to this type of quality

Kelley W.

Yelp
My tacos Al pastor were delicious, and my son's birria tacos were also delicious--we'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Aimee C.

Yelp
Definitely not worth eating here. Thought it would be a great hole in the wall. Was I wrong! So many good, better and best options. Just keep driving!!
google avatar

Megan P.

Yelp
The food was good. The birra tacos were filling. This only had the beef birra tacos. They have the option to add onion and cilantro. The consume was good. It wasn't anything special. We ordered a mango margarita and a Paloma. The drink was ok I didn't really taste the liquor in it. The service was nice we went in a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't busy when we went. The ambiance was good it was very authentic they had Mexican music playing in the restaurant.

Yelp
Ordered take out the other night when I was craving queso. The two tacos I got (asada and carnitas) were amazing! The meat was super flavorful. Will definitely be going back for more tacos. Want to try a different queso instead of traditional, like with chorizo to see if there is more flavor. Chips were perfect!
google avatar

Brian N.

Yelp
Hole in the wall, strip mall Mexican joint. But holy cow, so good! Food was fresh and delicious. Priced the way it should be. The pollo con queso was delicious!

Yelp
ALRIGHT ALRIGHT COVID DID THEM SOME GOOD ... it's been a year or so and I've come back ... let me start off by saying that things have changed dramatically here. We started off looking for some Birria tacos.. and this popped up with my negative asssss review so after much discussion jury decided that we would try it again.. OMG.. thank you God! The whole place has changed. I got a margarita and it was good. I got a watermelon juice that was amazing. We got some Asada tacos and some Birria tacos along with some guacamole. 10/10 give Them one more chance. I know you probably gave your ex more than one more chance.

Yelp
I was looking for some TACOS!! and I found a local spot that is a literal Hole in the Wall in a corner of a small strip center. BUT it was a great find as they had a great menu, really good food that my roommate and I ate so fast we thought someone was going to take it away from us. The prices are reasonable, the food was really tasty, they gave me some extra salsa, a lime and utensils. The young girl helping me was friendly and the place was filling up as I was ordering and I saw several ToGo orders being picked up. I ordered two Taco Plates that had 3 tacos, rice and beans and they were very filling and just really good food. I recommend this place and it is a cute spot that you can do Take Out or Dine In.

Yelp
I see others saying best birria in Charlotte, I havn't had better here, but there really isn't much competition in town. That said, everything else that I've tried from here is pretty solid. I was using my trusty yelp app to find a new spot for my lunch rotation. With this place only being 10 minutes from the office and having affordable tasty options, I think I won't be visiting Las Margaritas quite as often. Me and my boss man had to visit a job site nearby and this seemed like an obvious choice. My first visit here I just went with 4 tacos, I wanted to try a little of everything. These tacos were meaty! I probably would have been good with 3 or even 2 and a bunch of chips and dip. Of course I had to try the birria, and it was tender, but the flavor wasn't over the top. The pastor I ordered was pretty tasty. No complaints on the pollo either. The carne asada really shined though. They put a nice 2nd sear on that meat and crunchy caramelization was top notch. I will definitely get a little more adventurous with it next time and try some chorizo, leunga and maybe even cabeza? Doubt I'll try the tripe though. My boss man ordered chicken covered in cheese and chorizo served with beans and rice. Looked really good, but that seemed a little heavy for me(me being the guy who ate 4 big ole' tacos, lol). I'll be back, maybe even weekly!

Yelp
Delicious food The molcajete salsa was the best with taco plate!!!! The service was great! Definitely going to return every time I'm in Charlotte.

Yelp
I ordered quesadillas and tacos to go. Surprise! Only lettuce (they called it salad) quesadilla is lacking cheese, barely any chicken on it. Besides being pricey, I only got lettuce and a piece of chicken. Look at the taco. ‍ People at the front very rude and tried to rush orders. First and last time.

Darnise F.

Yelp
I call back to this business to discuss my meal which was awful had delivered he told me to contact the owner then hung up on me he hung up on me ... WOW I still trying to find out who owns this place so they still from the deliveries to pay ther staff this place is awful there has to be something else going on in there besides saling food they ought to be shame of themselves

Yelp
We come here at least once a month for the Birria tacos! At one point we were coming once a week. Hands down the best Birria tacos in Charlotte. This was the first time I ate inside. Every other time I order them to go & buss 'em down in the car! I try not to tell ppl about this place bc it's so good lol.

Yelp
Divey and delicious. My kinda place. Tucked in a corner spot near the laundromat and grocery store, you'll be greeted by happy staff and a small, clean restaurant (96 health score). Matter of fact the floors were still damp from a fresh mopping after the lunch crowd dissipated. Nice. Ordered fajitas to go along with a couple chicken sopes. The drive home was brutal but I manned up and resisted the urge to tear the bag open. When I finally did the food was excellent, well prepared and still piping hot. Fresh ingredients including the shrimp which tasted like it was happy to be sautéed for me. The surprise winner was the red sauce--nice heat and kick. For a to-go dish I wished they included chips and a few more taco wraps. Otherwise, a solid find and one worthy of a stop when nearby. You know I'm going to say it: "Give 'em whirl!" Grab a bite here. Support our little local purveyors of food.

Yelp
The food is delicious! I frequent this place for lunch. Great lunch deals! The taco salad with fried tortilla bowl is delicious & filling. The Chile Verde is so flavorful. Served with tortillas. Get the corn tortillas...They are made from scratch!

Yelp
My family loves trying all the restaurants in the area and we were recommended to come by here as we were told the food and service was great and the yelp reviews confirmed it but I'm not sure of they were talking about a pre-COVID Taqueria Los Altos because we were appalled about the service we received. The server acted like we were a nuisance to her and it was just basic requests. I always overtip and I'm like what is this service. Never in my life. And it made me laugh because they forced the tip on the check. It wasn't optional. I was gonna give her 15% anyway but I tend to give 23-25% so its crazy I was so appalled. That and she was handling cash and touching food all at the same time. So unhygienic. Now comes the food. The food was bland. Barely any flavor to the quesabirria tacos and barely any cheese tbh. The birria consome was decent. The seafood soup was barely finished. My father had it and thought the cook was lazy to not bother taking off the shells on the shrimp. He ended up not eating it. It's already soup and now he's gotta use his hands to rip off shells. He was not a fan. The steak fajitas, the steak was barely edible. Rice and beans is typical. Nothing to rave about.

Yelp
This is a fantastic place! We stopped in for lunch, but a ton of people stopped in for pick-up/carry out. The food was some of the best Mexican I've had in Charlotte. The portions are large, the prices are around $7-$13, and the food has so much flavor. We had a question and beans appetizer, the Azada Ranchero, and the Enchiladas. Everything was great and the queso carne came out on a piping hot skillet. The tortillas were super fresh too! Next time I plan to try out the staples: tacos, burritos and tostadas! Inside is nothing fancy, but it was clean and the server was super friendly! Like that it seems to be a place locals frequent. Check it out!

Yelp
Nice quality and the place is clean as always. If you want real meat, here is the place you can get the real tacos. Unlike those fast-food chain taco places with blended meat and unknown seasoning, this restaurant serves REAL food. I feel confident to eat here with my kids.

Yelp
Terrible, nasty , awful, I'd add a picture of my throw up but i don't wanna gross anyone out, me and my sister eat birria tacos literally everyday , our normal go to place is closed right now for vacation so we decided to try a new spot ...... should've just known from the location to RUN!!!! that's how bad it was . Customer service is disappointing ..... birria tacos tasted like puke and the quesadilla was nasty ........ the three u see on my plate is the three they will see in the trash .... I bit about 2/3 bites and i couldn't take anymore . I am TRULY UPSET !!!!!!!!! Never again . Never

Yelp
The pictures don't do it just. The BEST birria tacos in Charlotte, hands down. The beef are just as good.
google avatar

Efa S.

Yelp
Best birria in Charlotte. Birria tacos are hard to come by in this city, let alone ones that are actually good. I found this spot after some research and could not be happier. There are some other more known spots around the city, but the birria here is definitely the best. The meat is tender, the tortilla is crispy, and the broth is flavorful. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Ughhh I wanted to give this place 4-5 stars. I was looking for authentic Queso Birria tacos. It's been all the rage on YouTube, Facebook, & IG, I've watched videos of the delicious cheesy, meaty flavor filed goodness. I love sauce so I was so excited I Google Queso Birria near me and this restuarant came up. I got a friend and we ordered a ton of food. 3 Queso Birria, 4 Asada, 3 El Pastor, Chilli queso, Rice/Beans, Tamale and Guacamole. 1st,They press the tortillas freshly. That's impressive and made me giddy upon site. I knew that the tacos would be awesome. I got traditional birria tacos with onion and cilantro. It was not the tacos I ordered The was softness which was nice but no flavor/seasoning. The asada actually had decent flavor but the El Pastor was disappointing. There wasn't any heat or pineapple as advertised. The tacos were disappointing. My tamale was microwaved and not steamed. By the time I got back home it was hard as a brick. The queso was runny and also microwaved with unseasoned beef. The service was slow there were people that came after us that got food. They could have ordered on the phone or been regular. Either way we had to wait 43 mins for out to go order. 1 cook and 1 waitresses who was also cooking, answering phone, and cleaning tables. They were practicing social distancing with the tables, wore mask, had hand sanitizer and touchless pay. That's my reasoning for 2 stars. I was disappointed because it wasn't what I ordered and the food was lacking. The Guacamole was fresh. I saw the Avocados being chopped. Yet, it was nasty. No salt, no lime, there was onions and tomatoes. My friend said they forgot her rice but I didn't look at her Togo plate.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Food was delish and authentic. Service is quick. Small place only seats about 15 people at once can be become crowded if eating in.

Nancy W.

Yelp
The incorrect order arrived as I had ordered #8 because I wanted to also have rice & beans. The Server did not offer to brill ll g my proper order so I asked for the rice and beans complementary since they messed up. The plate of rice & beans came . My bill reflected the Rice & Beans as an add on of $3.50. I objected and was sassily told that I ate the original plate . The food Plate #2 instead of #8 was ok. Left a $1 tip. Will not go back.
google avatar

Darius C.

Yelp
This is one of those gems you have to have heat about word of mouth because it's tucked away. You're going here solely for the food and not ambience as it's a small place that serves to feed any a few people at a time. During our visit, there was one server for everyone dining as well as taking orders, so come with time to chill and have good food. I had the birria tacos and that beef??!! :chefs kiss: oh and they have the glass bottled coke products. I'll go back to try their drinks soon.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Had to go this direction for work. Always looking for an authentic MC place when I go outside my neighborhood. This got some of the best ratings. The single hostess and server, did a great double duty job. She worked very hard. Queso/chorizo was good, not to greasy. Chips were plain, carnitas tacos $10 for 3 with beans and rice, average. Corn/flour tortillas were good & homemade, hot and fresh. Salsa was to runny, and very basic. Just tomatoes special trip again, because it was amazing- NO! Good enough to go again if I'm in the area, yes.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered from here after we saw a recommendation for it on Axios Charlotte. We placed a carry out order for the Los Altos special, burrito relleno, quesadilla mexicana, and two birria tacos. When we went, the place was busy for a small restaurant. There was one server and one cook but they were efficient! Our food wasn't ready when we got there to pick it up due to a issue with their third party ordering service. They were apologetic and gave us a time frame for when the food would be ready. We ran a quick errand and by the time we got back, our food was ready and packed proficiently. The food was amazing. With every bite, my husband and I couldn't stop talking about tasty it was. I'd recommend this restaurant. Next time we go I want to try the quesa birria because it looks delicious!
google avatar

Merna A.

Yelp
My friend and I were excited to try this place since it had great reviews on Yelp, however we were extremely disappointed. We were wanting to try the birria tacos but the server advised us that they were only available after a certain time. This wasn't too big of a deal- we just ordered alternative items on the menu. My friend got a few tacos and I got 2 tacos and a tamale. We also ordered an appetizer (I don't remember the name, but its pictured below)- the server told us that it was very spicy- which we were ecstatic for. Unfortunately, when it came to the table, we were confused. I think it was sauteed onions with chili peppers? It had no flavor, just chili pepper flakes. The tacos and tamale also left more to be desired. The server was handling the whole dining room and we could tell she was overwhelmed. We hesitantly asked to replace the appetizer with a new one. She did give us a chorizo queso that we requested as an alternative, but I hate to say that that wasn't very good either. I would not want to come try this place again. I am not sure if that night was an off night, but it was enough to turn my friend and I away.

Yelp
Those taco cravings were hitting my husband hard on Saturday evening. We had a busy day so neither of us was wanting to cook. His solution was to find a place in Yelp that we had yet to visit so I could write a review. Pretty good solution if you asked me. This restaurant was about 10 minutes from us. It's a hidden gem. Small small small restaurant with limited seating. When we came in, only two tables were occupied. So that was good for us. We were seated and very well taken care of. We were given chips and salsa right from the start. We both ordered taco plates. I had chicken, beef and chorizo tacos. My husband had chicken, beef and stake tacos. Both orders came with rice and beans. The rice was really good. Everything was amazing. But that rice... SO good. Another thing that I love and can be hit or miss is the cilantro... but their cilantro was fresh and added a great kick to their tacos. My husband would not STOP talking about their Tortillas. He was a huge fan. This place was worth the visit. I can't wait to come back. Their menu is basic... but there's no complaints over here. Highly recommend. Great job guys!

Yelp
I am usually not steered wrong by Yelp...but I was very disappointed that I followed these reviews. Perhaps I came on a bad day but nothing I ordered was up to par. I wanted my family to try quesa birria tacos. They have become my obsession. Whelp, the birria tacos were dry with none of the gooey cheese or crunchy, slightly greasy taco shell. The consume was basically under seasoned beef broth. After all my hype, I had to apologize for what I bought them to try. But I ordered more for what I thought was going to be a delicious Mexican feast. The steak fajitas were shredded pieces of dry, tough, flavorless steak adjacent meat. I don't even know what to say about the arroz con pollo. The chicken in cream sauce was basically dry pieces of chicken mixed with sour cream... nothing else, just sour cream. The beans were runny. The rice was bland. I had to relocate to Fayetteville temporarily for work. And I lament about how I miss the Charlotte food scene. This meal made me miss Fayetteville. I like to support local, small businesses. So, I hope I just came on a bad day. Perhaps I will try them on another visit to my hometown.

Tricia B.

Yelp
I ordered taquitos for delivery. Why did they package the taquitos with/on top of the rice and bean so when I sat down to eat it, the tacos fell apart because the "hard" shells were soggy and all of them fell apart. When I ordered this from Azetca they package them separately. I appreciate the care Azteca put forth.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Really, really screwed up pricing. Party of two. Ice water for both. 7 total tacos @$2.00 each. Some how ended up to be $32.21. I stomach pains afterwards. If you like this place, good luck to you. I think it was a very poor experience.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of this place, amazing food, great service. You might find it hard to find, as it's tucked away in a small strip center, but do yourself a favor and please check this place out. I've noticed over the last few years they've updated their menu a few times, but I still live by the tacos (only $2/per), though the queso dip is pretty solid. You might have to ask, but please make sure you do, and get the hot sauce that they make, you won't regret it.

Jacob H.

Yelp
Great food in an intimate space! Servers are always on top of it and the cooks are fabulous.

Dara P.

Yelp
I only had the cheese dip. I wasn't impressed as the cheese dip was watery. But the service was quick and friendly and the other food I saw looked and smelled good.
google avatar

Brandon F.

Yelp
The food was outstanding. Ignore the fact that the restaurant is a hole in the wall. They were a bit slow for it to not be busy but the food was worth it and the prices are reasonable. They were out of Birria which was the point of going but the chicken enchiladas made up for it.
google avatar

Rafael G.

Yelp
This is what I'm talking about! Traditional Mexican tacos for an amazing price! Yeah it's not fancy inside however what lacks in "flash" they overcome with great ingredients and costumer service. Places like this make my soul happy! I had the pastor, asada, birria, and Cabeza tacos with rice and beans. The flan is made in house and I recommend that as well. All this for 28$. Come on. Inflation has hit hard everywhere but this restaurant keeps it affordable without sacrificing quality. Tacos are meant to be affordable- and I hate when the trendy places have crap tacos for 8-10$ makes no sense. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.

Jenita M.

Yelp
My second visit today in a couple months. Today, I got the carne asada torta with fries. The torta was good. Love the mustard sauce on it. Just like a favorite Greek pepper steak sub sandwich I love back home. The fries were fried in old oil. The horchata is always good and authentic. My first visit, I got a huarache with steak and al pastor tacos. The tacos were tiny as a previous reviewer said. The huarache was Delicious as expected. They had tomatillo sauce on my second visit.

The birria tacos were fantastic. My kids nor myself enjoyers the kids cheese quesadillas

Yelp
Ay dios mio!! They had me at $1.85 tacos!!! You really have to try their guacamole. Super fresh since they make it to order. Theirs is different since it has diced avocado and fresh pico de gallo. Very good choice. We ordered one of every taco offered and they did not disappoint. The chilaquiles were great as well. It's a tiny place, but the girls there are very sweet and give great service. Definitely give it a try!

Yelp
Real classic Mexican food, great food, good beer can't complain. This place is perfect to bring the whole family and not worry about the bill.

Yelp
This was a great Yelp find for us - delicious Mexican food that's practically in our backyard. We tried tacos (only $2 each!) & enchiladas verdes - both were delicious. I thought our food was comparable to Sabor and Three Amigos. It's small inside, but the people working there were really friendly & the service was great. Looked like they serve beer, but not margaritas. Definitely recommend going here for your next taco fix...I can't wait to go back and try a torta and their soup!

Yelp
I just moved to the area and was craving some authentic Mexican food, and this place did not disappoint. I called in my order and it was ready in about 15 minutes. I've never been to Mexico, but I feel like the tacos were authentic based on the onion and cilantro topping, and half a lime on the side to squeeze. I was pleasantly surprised that my arroz con pollo came with tortillas, since other restaurants I've gone to in the past did not serve the dish in that way. This place is off the beaten path a bit, but definitely worth it.

Yelp
Los Altos is THE TRUTH. I live down the street from Los Altos and I'm ashamed how long it took for me to eat there. Learn from my mistake! Go today! Order a million tacos! The space is small and snug. Due to COVID, more than half of the tables are unavailable for seating to adhere to social distancing measures. Keep this in mind and tip well, as I can't imagine the hit this tiny place has taken over the last several months. Chips and salsa are delivered within moments of being seated. The chips aren't much to write home about, but I'm a huge fan of the salsa. It's mild, but bursting with flavor. As long as you keep eating, the chips and salsa keep coming. If you're down for an appetizer, I highly recommend the shrimp cocktail. It's served in a giant margarita glass, packed full of shrimp, avocado, tomatoes, and cilantro. It's light, refreshing, and flavorful. Pile those shrimp on a chip or a cracker and go to town. LOS ALTOS MAKES THEIR TORTILLAS IN HOUSE. I don't mean to shout, but it's not so easy to find fresh, handmade corn tortillas. They're wonderful, soft, and pliable. They support your taco perfectly so you don't need to double up and throw off your tortilla-to-filling ratio. My favorites are the chorizo and the birria tacos. Honestly, I hardly order anything else because the tacos are SO good. Each time we've been, there has been one employee in the kitchen, and one waiting tables/taking orders/running the register. Be patient. Again, tip well. The prices here are more than reasonable so don't cheap out on the gratuity line. If real deal Mexican spots are your thing, Los Altos is a must. If you're more into Tex-Mex, no shame there, but this place might not be for you. I do promise that if you're one of the unfortunate souls that think cilantro tastes like soap, you might have a bad time here. Support local business, and pig out on tacos. Everybody wins.
