Taqueria Los Perez Washington

Food here is amazing! Came for their taco Tuesday and only intended to get 3 tacos but I ended up getting 5 lol I then came back for the caldo de pollo and it also was very tasty! After living in DC for 8 years, I finally found authentic Mexican food here.

Best tacos in DC! Authentic, filling, best price. I live down the street from the restaurant and I’ve been since they open almost every it has genuinely never disappointed. Also the staff is amazing! H street staple!!

Today I had flautas and they were really good! It came with 5 plus rice and beans. Ive had the pozole and menudo here before and they were good, close to authentic.

We ordered a variety of tacos and a Gordita. The cabeza was squishy and without flavor, but the lengua was much worse. I’ve never met a lengua taco I didn’t like, but these actually made my husband sick for almost two days. The meat tasted like it had been cooked, thawed, and then reheated. The texture wasn’t like normal lengua that I’ve had and there was no seasoning. Some of it was cold. Something was just not right. The birria was decent but not full of flavor like I’m accustomed to. Not sure if it was just an off day, but I wouldn’t recommend or eat here again.

Best authentic tacos in dc hands down. Horchata is some of the best I’ve had. Birria tacos were to die for quite literally. Gatekeeping this spot for now… their desserts look so good as well but i haven’t tried them yet.

Excellent food very delicious and authentic very lovely crew help us to choose the best food they have and I like the vibe and the music was amazing and the drinks was perfect as well. I will post some photos to see that delicious food. Hope you all enjoyed it.

Wow Wow Wow. Finally, a true authentic Mexican near where I live!!! I am ecstatic to stumble upon this hidden gem from a DoorDash promotion! Menu offering: I haven’t seen a comparable restaurant in the DMV area with such extensive authentic ingredients - I am talking about those tender, juicy, flavorful, succulent meat parts. Cabeza, Cuerito, Buche, Cecina, Lengua, Menudo soup, etc…. Restaurants don’t offer these are not authentic IMO. Everything I ordered tastes great. Great portion, great price. I also love the pretty and healthy garnish of scallions and watermelon radish. I would definitely dine in next time. Their menu reminds me of Mexico City. The service is always very bad here. The staff is rude & usually won’t acknowledge you. When they do talk it is in a condescending tone or accompanied by rolling their eyes. I had to wait for 10 minutes to get my order taken today while 4 staff members stood talking to each other at the counter and walking back and forth .The only good thing here is the birria tacos. The other tacos always have dry chicken and tough unchewable steak and the rice is ALWAYS hard and undercooked.They served me a flat expired soda today for $4 and now I will officially never be coming back.

Such a great addition to the H St Corridor. The restaurant is clean with a lot of seating. The workers are exceptionally friendly. And the food is quite good. Los Perez is known for birria so if you go and don't have your heart set on something else, definitely give one of the quesabirria options a try. Also one thing I loved was that the service was fast. (Hope I didn't just jinx them)

The food was very good with all the extra condiments provided. It was ready when we arrived, within 20 minutes after calling in the order. There was no wait to pick it up, which helped because space is limited and we were double parked. The restaurant was well lit making it easy to spot at night.

Rating: I wanted to love this place so bad. The vibe is cool, the spot is pretty, and the staff is super nice--but the food? Disappointing. I've been here three times and tried the steak tacos, steak quesadilla, and steak fajitas, and every time, the steak was dry, flavorless, and full of fat. It tastes like it was cooked hours before. For a Mexican restaurant, that's not it. The chicken tacos were decent, but nothing crazy. Also, I called to place an order, and the lady didn't speak English, so I couldn't even order. And the queso? Way too yellow--definitely not authentic. This place has so much potential, but if they don't fix their steak and step it up, they're not gonna last long on H Street.

Second day since their opening and I stopped by after the gym since it's conveniently located across the street for a to-go order of flautas and gorditas. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, the place is vibrant and colorful. Can't wait to try my dishes.

As someone who used to live in San Jose and enjoyed plenty of authentic Mexican food, I struggled to find anything comparable after moving to the DMV area--until I found Taqueria Los Perez. Their birria is fantastic, full of rich flavor and cooked to perfection. It's the closest I've come to the authentic taste I remember from California. If you're looking for real, high-quality Mexican food, this place is definitely worth a visit!

I would of given a 3.5 but well not available but for DC it was OK being a LosAngeles native living in Dallas I know Mexican food very well and it was OK not great I had the combo fajitas and the chicken was good the beef was gristle and chewy the portions were good and the chips were good but the pico was city water-down chopped up tomatoes hardly no jalapeños at all the service was good and the establishment looked authentic but the food was way east coast Mexican not what I have grown to love .

I tried a little bit of everything since it was my first time trying this place. Happy to say it was all delicious but the quesobirria was my favorite. Tons of flavor in everything. Go and try it now!
