Stopped though and found this gem! For the size of portions compared to prices it’s a steal! We loved it all. Tons of options on the menu. Wait staff is super friendly! California burrito will change your life. It’s massive.. eat here. Eat here often.

?!

Google
The barbacoa was good, not greasy. Shrimp was slightly overdone but whole taco was flavorful. Tres leches was too dry. Complimentary salsa was too watery and not too tasty. Staff were friendly. Service was quick, but I was one of two tables.

Hamadeen

Google
Really good portions. I felt full after eating a $9 burrito and that's pretty rare nowadays.

Google
The freshest, fastest and nicest wait staff, simply an excellent lunch experience. This place is super busy but the staff was so nice & unhurried and the food, wow!!! Hot, tasty and seasoned perfectly. The chicken flautas came with sour cream, guacamole, salad, rice & beans for less than $10! If you can see the dining room wall, you’ll see they’ve been voted “best of” years in a row. Try them out!

Google
Al pastor tacos were dry and seemed like the crumbs from the bottom of the pan. My wife got tamales and enchiladas, and they were also dry. I ordered a tres leches to go and got this tiny, beat-up piece. The cake was dry and tasted very sour. I have been here for lunch, and all of the food was fresh and tasted good. Maybe the food was sitting too long and not cooked fresh.

Google
Those awards on the wall- they deserve all plus more! Don't be fooled, they are no longer on Lomas in that small spot where you ordered outside. They are on Menaul and 4th. More seating but same great service! Wonderful family-owned place! The food is excellent! They have a Cheesecake Factory-type menu! Be prepared for choices! Carne Asada tacos (favorite) Update: 10/2024 Something changed. Maybe an off night, I don't know, but the asada tacos were not the same usually great tasting.

Google
Amazing food at a reasonable price! We ordered two tortas and they were big enough that we both brought home almost half. The service was excellent and the quality of the food was great! Give them I try when you are in the mood for some good Mexican cuisine in a casual atmosphere.

Google
Such an awesome Mexican restaurant. All quality and no frills. Non of that bougie Mexican food rip off. This place has it all. We went for breakfast and the menu options were plenty. The food was even better when it came out. Huge burritos for an incredible price. I’m going back to try their Asada burritos. They look heart stopping and delicious!

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place pretty much my whole life, but have never made it. I ordered delivery from Taqueria Mexicana and it was absolutely fabulous. I ordered guacamole and chips, and a combination plate with a tamale, Chile Relleno, refritos, a taco, and rice. Now I understand why they're always seems to be a line of people waiting at this place. The food was all outstanding and there was plenty of it. The service was great as my order arrived from across town within a half an hour. I I highly recommend Taqueria Mexicana and I will definitely be ordering from them again as there are numerous things on their menu that look delicious that I'd like to try.

Yelp
Taqueria Mexico has always been a solid spot and I've enjoyed a lot of their food over the years. Back in the day, I used to work down the street from their previous location and so I was there for lunch pretty often. They always had good flavor and were very affordable. On my most recent visit, I got a few burritos, and boy were they greasy. Still edible but really way too much on the grease. They were also super messy and just kind of fell apart. Fries and flan were great. I also found that their prices have gone up quite a bit and it was pretty shocking to me that the tip option (on a pickup order) went up to 50%! I went to tip a standard 20% but the options ranges from 18%-25%-35%-50%. I know the employees likely don't set those ranges themselves but that's a really abnormal range and if you aren't paying attention...

Yelp
If you pull into the lot you'll find just another storefront taqueria but enter this house of delight and you will be treated to some of the best food in town. The burrito Mexicano is off the hook good and the fish tacos are some of the best I've ever had. Salsa is tasty and the service is like familia.

Yelp
Tacos were okay. This place gets BUSY! The carne asada and carnitas were a bit bland. They cater to the local demographics by offering lettuce and tomato on the tacos which is not authentic to Mexican street tacos. The parking lot is huge which can handle a large amount of people. The restaurant itself gets packed and is very loud. We had to wait a few minutes before finding an available table. Overall - 3 stars = AOKAY

Yelp
Authentic and great to sit inside or out. Service is excellent. But most importantly the food will bring you to your knees. There's not much better for my taco obsession.

Yelp
Oh my God, thank you yelp! All I can say is eat here! Eat here! Eat here! Eat here! I'm only spending the night in Albuquerque and I'm coming back tomorrow for breakfast burrito. I can't imagine ever coming through Albuquerque again and not eating here. Please note that if you try to get directions from this website, it will take you to the correct parking lot, but I'm the way wrong side. This is on the north side of the building.

Yelp
OK, so I went to this place today. It was very beautiful in the inside. The atmosphere was very chill and welcoming being from Cali. When I talked to the server, she was very nice and pleasing when she seen that. I had my order for pick up. She still greeting me to a table as I was waiting very nice of her. I always thought we have some good nachos especially From LA but when I came down here, I said I wanted to try some nachos and this place has some good reviews so I came here to try it out. I got the supreme nachos And a rate I will give it is a 8.5 out of 10 only because the meat was a little bit hard. I don't know if it's due to overcook or if it got cold with the toppings on it anyways the flavor was amazing very authentic, not too salty. The chips are fried really nice and the toppings were fresh I definitely will come back to this place and try something else before I go back home. Thank you again

Yelp
First of all, they brought me a burrito then told me it was the wrong burrito and took it back and rewrapped it for another customer. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito and added rice. When it came...they had forgotten to add the rice. Then I was half way done with the second half of my burrito when I bit into something chewy. I spit it out and there was a seasoned chunk of raw meat. By the way I am vegetarian!!!!!

Yelp
Ordered taco special de adobada, beans and rice. Excellent. Their kitchen is open-view so one can see how they prepare their dishes. First time, so I'll be returning for authentic Mexican food!

Ginger Marie G.

Yelp
Delicious food and friendly, fast customer service. The bean and cheese burrito is amazing.

Yelp
This place is an institution. Massive burritos, great carnitas, always on point. Def need to visit this spot more.

Yelp
My family has eaten here three times in the last couple of months. Twice to dine in & once as to go order. The service and food have been amazing every time! The servers were attentive even when I was just waiting for my order to go. The food comes out promptly and is always delicious. We love this place and will be back again and again!

Yelp
Looking for Mexican food for breakfast when we found this place. Another hole in the wall in a strip mall. It wasn't too busy when we got there, so seating was easy. When it gets busy I would imagine there's a wait for one of their 8 tables. I zeroed in in the Menudo - love it and haven't had it for quite awhile and the Carne Adovada breakfast. Both came with a single large flour tortilla. The Adovada was delicious - the beans had a nice consistency and there was a lot of food on that plate. The large menudo was a little under-spiced. But condiments at the table brought it to taste. I'd much prefer under rather than over. Even before spices it had a good taste. Once again it was plenty to eat. Service was great - the coffee cup stayed full. Glad we stopped and look forward to our next visit.

Yelp
Delicious tacos! I tried the Asada, Barbacoa, Al Pastor and Carnitas. I liked the Al Pastor and Carnitas the best. They come with lettuce, tomato, onion. The servings are huge. Very meaty tacos. The service was great. Real authentic food. I highly recommend this location if you want tacos. They had a lot of specials that looked good as well.

Lourdes K.

Yelp
Good food Nice caring staff Great amiable owner Family owned & feels homey I repeat all of the above, take friends family Out of towners

Yelp
You have to like this place.. I have to this is a hidden gem. Posole is very good and with all the sides. Steak tacos, they are like street tacos and the bomb For a small place the food is fresh the service is great. You have to check it out

Julian S.

Yelp
Quality affordable food with amazing portions. One of my favorite places to get lunch.

Stephanie I.

Yelp
The food was horrible! We ordered a chile relleno burrito, pastor taco, & a carne asada torta. No flavor at all. Pastor didn't even taste like pastor. Burrito was nothing but pure beans and barley even a chile. It was super sloppy and hard to eat..Even their Mexican coke was bad! I'm not one to write a bunch of review but this place was the worst place I've ever had for Mexican food...

Yelp
Coming here more and more, constantly loving it. The service is always excellent, I tend to gravitate more toward Mexican rather than New Mexican personally. Their rice and beans are so flavorful, one of the best I've had in town. Pork tamale plate - delicious. Fajita combo plate I've been meaning to try and finally did with my wife - it was easily enough to feed 2 people and we still had leftovers. It was her first time - she was amazed. The fresh onions, cilantro, tomato along with guacamole and salsa. The meat is tender and delicious, perfectly seasoned. I want to try everything on their menu, including their breakfast. Their weekly specials look appealing as well. Very affordable, situated in an unassuming strip mall next to a UPS store. Always busy, which I love to see. Pay up front, kind service, tip them well! I'll be back just for the rice and beans!

Yelp
We love to come to New Mexico for New Mexican food, especially for the chili rellenos. We've made numerous annual pilgrimages to try different places. We basically order the same combination plate wherever we go, beef taco, cheese enchilada, chili relleno rice and beans. We like Christmas, ( red and green sauce.) First of o could give it 3.5 stars I would. More than a 3 star but not quite 4. Chips and salsa were amazing. My partner told me to make sure I tell you that. I agree with her. The rice was fair. My least favorite of the plate. The beans were very good. We both thought the beef taco was a bit weird. The seasoned beef was pretty bland and both of our shells tasted and felt, (texture wise,) stale. These shells where definitely not fresh. The cheese enchilada was very good. Lots of gooey cheese stretching out as I pulled it from plate to mouth. The chili relleno was delicious. Not the best but definitely worth every bite. Decent crust. Both red and green sauce were excellent. The girl that took our order had no idea what the combination plate was when I tried to verify. She had to go look. Asked if chips came with the side order of guacamole, she again had no idea. Then just said no. So still not sure. The cost was excellent. $9.99! This place has potential. I see they've been around for quite a while. And is a local favorite, but they could change a few things and have something amazing. Let's see what the next combination brings.

Yelp
I'm not gonna harm their rating with this review- but I gotta say, nah on the fish tacos. It was food and we were all hungry but I would not repeat the experience - 4 of us got fish tacos, one got the chili rellenos. I might do the latter on repeat, but not the former. Perhaps this is a better option for meat eaters, but for pescatarians or vegetarians, I'd look elsewhere first.

Yelp
It has since moved to a bigger location off 12th St. & Menaul. Still great quality food & service, more sit down room.
google avatar

Daniel L.

Yelp
4.5/5 for food- fresh and tasty flavors. Service is kind and fast. Ambience is homey. Would def come back to try the rest of their menu if in town again! First time here. Tried 4 tacos- chicken, Al pastor, fish, and shrimp. All but the chicken were seasoned/marinated well. The chicken tasted like dry rotisserie chicken. Tacos had crispy flour tortillas, fresh toppings of lettuce and pico, and a toasty red salsa that had a nice kick of chili.

Yelp
Hell yeah. Good meskin food for Mineral Wells Tx! Anything you order from here will be good. Enjoy...

Yelp
I used to be a frequent customer when the original owners were there (a very nice family) but when I went today, I was left feeling very dissatisfied and disappointed with the service. I found a piece of hair in my food, so I let one of the servers know. Some of the servers there have their hair in loose hairstyles, and I know that it was not my hair which was up! The server came to look at the hair and just asked me if I wanted another one. I was so disgusted by the hair, I couldn't have another one. I was expecting the server to take the charge off of the food I couldn't eat due to the disgusting hair, but she never offered to. The least the restaurant could've done was apologize. I was charged for the full price for food I could not finish, and I didn't even receive an apology for this disgusting hair in my food! Unfortunately I do not plan on returning here again.

Yelp
Great food, excellent service! I try to limit myself to once a week. Lunch specials are good value, and portions are large.

Yelp
My first time trying this quaint but cozy restaurant. It's a bit loud when the dining area is full. The service was pretty quick and friendly servers. I ordered the three tacos with beans and rice special. I enjoyed the shredded beef taco, flavored well and tender. The chicken taco had no seasoning and was bland. The carne asada was tough and chewy but good flavor. Rice and beans were fine. I may give this place a second visit and try another dish.

Juh Y.

Yelp
Amazing food, salsa taste like nostalgia for me so delicious. Workers are great and friendly. Would definitely recommend Taqueria Mexico. The California burrito is huge! Pozole is delicious, and so we're the chicken xmas enchiladas! Don't miss out on the 8$ asada burritos!

Yelp
I'm always a little surprised that there aren't a lot of locally-owned restaurant options near my workplace (I-25 and Candelaria, more or less), especially ones that aren't New Mexican food. I'd driven past Taqueria Mexico numerous times on my way to work and, after reading a bunch of positive Yelp reviews, decided it was time to check them out. When looking at the menu, I noticed they had lengua; I haven't had it in a while so chose a lengua torta. Unfortunately, they don't offer lengua anymore! My second choice was a barbacoa torta with a side of fries, which I took back to my office. It was tough to resist opening the container on my drive back, but I managed, and it was worth the wait. This was one of the best tortas I've ever put in my mouth - deliciously tender beef with a little guacamole, lettuce, and a tomato slice that tasted pretty darn given the time of year. I'd asked them to hold the jalapenos, but I still found a couple of small pieces to remove. A side of salsa came with the torta. The fries were also fantastic, fresh and hot. Their food is very reasonably priced, and it looks like they're really popular - almost every table was full and there was a line to order by the time I left. I'll definitely return again.

Yelp
Great food, great service. Their menu is extensive. They work hard to make excellent food.

Yelp
The food here is seriously so amazing. Have ate here many times and never had a bad meal! The shrimp cocktail is the best I can find in Abq
google avatar

Kari C.

Yelp
Love this place! We tried this restaurant at the new location on Menaul. Parking was easy. The ladies working here are so friendly and welcoming. Food is cheap, fresh, and delicious. The chips are piping hot. The salsa is spicy, but full of flavor. We loved all of the tacos, but the shrimp ones were exceptionally good. They're well seasoned, cooked in a fajita style. DH thought the chicken could have used more seasoning. They have different specials daily, as if the food wasn't already such a deal. We would definitely have come back of we were in Albuquerque longer.

Yelp
I love this Mexican market it has the best quality meats and affordable cheese. Also their produce is amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Good people and great food. I've been eating here for a long, long time and always enjoy their food. It's hard to recommend which plates I like to eat, it's all good. You'll just have to go and try it for yourself. Oh, and the atmosphere is OK. It is small and not a lot of seating.

Yelp
Ordered 2- #3 Combinations (Tamale) & 1- #2 Comboination (Relleno). Magnificant, non-processed, healthy Mexican food. Tres Leches cake for dessert was the greatest way to end our early dinner here. Ambiance was busy, alittle loud.

Magda G.

Yelp
muy rico y las meseras bien amables Alondra bien linda atenta , sol que se equivocaron de orden la muchacha q fue a nuestra mesa muy corriente se portó más empleadas como Alondra y la mesera que nos recibió

Yelp
We eat here frequently. In the neighborhood, tacos are always a hit for dinner. We used to go to another taco place, but it had weird hours after covid. We tried Taqueria and were happy with the tacos. We have only ever had the tacos, and I like the adovada ones. I do wish they had pastor style, but still good. The food is affordable and they have specials everyday I think. Always pretty busy too, so that is always a good sign. If you aren't from this side of town, the strip mall can feel a little intimidating, just fyi.

Eunice Breana P.

Yelp
I'm a semi-former Texan with a roommate who is a semi-former Californian and we APPROVE of this MEXICAN GEM hidden in the North Valley. It is worth the drive, worth the time, and the service was great! Food was prepared quickly for both sit down and carry out (I did both in 2 days). GREAT FOOD. GREAT TASTE. GREAT SEASONING. Decor is super fun too!!!

Mark R.

Yelp
Chicken salad was great! I used to go to the Taqueria when they were on Lomas and they have successfully transitioned to this new location!

Yelp
Terrible bland and sloppy food. Don't waste your money. Burrito came like this. Cant even roll a tortilla. Boiled chicken with no seasonings chicken or beans.

Yelp
This is the first place I've been where the Yelp reviews and rating did not line up with my experience. My husband and I had a 14 hour road trip and stopped here instead of fast food to support local business and try something new. We stumbled on this place with good reviews. We got to go and we were trying to eat fast and continue on our road trip. I had the burrito with chicken and NO onion, which to me was a weird thing to even have in a burrito. The size was good and the rice and beans were really yummy. However, the chicken was so dry and plain. There was really no flavor and it was definitely low quality chicken. I got a sketchy piece of bone or cartilage in my first bite and was done from there. My husband had the daily special of fish tacos soft and he really liked them. There was way too much lettuce and tomato compared to everything else but it came with their delicious rice and beans. I ended up having to get something at the gas station since I wasn't left satisfied. Sorry for the disappointing review of a small business.

McGill F.

Yelp
We stopped here pushing through town, and were not disappointed!!! Great fast service and the food was excellent!

Yelp
This place is legit. So so good. We flew into town and we're driving through Albuquerque to go up north. We wanted authentic Mexican. This place was scrumptious. We stayed to eat (although ordering for takeout was an option) and had The friendliest service. I couldn't believe how hot and toasty the chips were. I've never had such warm chips. The salsa was amazing as well. The giant burrito was just that: giant. Too big. Lol. The chicken tacos were amazing. I love that they had cilantro on it and a tiny little lime to go with it. My other son had a torta- amazing. I loved all the different drink options they had as well. We definitely look like some out of towners coming through town, but I don't care. The food was so good. And they were super friendly. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
I've eaten a ton of Mexican food in my time. Growing up in S. California, you're really born into the culture. There is only one other pozole I could go on and on about, but that was my buddy's mom who made that one. This was so full of flavor and hearty chunks of pork, it was inviting. I got the small bowl and wasn't able to finish it, but I tried....over and over. The girls there are super nice and attentive, the price, in my opinion, was cheap for what you get. Especially with everyone blaming covid, this place keeps it real with pricing. While I'm here in NM, I'll be back...a few more times
google avatar

Ty C.

Yelp
Open during Covid. I got a Adovada Burrito. Simple burrito, super cheap (less than $6 after tax), really tasty salsa. Nice service. Adovada is shredded pork marinated in red New Mexican chile sauce. Spicy, but not too much to handle. The meat was not fatty and was deliciously seasoned. Topped it off with a large cantaloupe agua fresca. Took it all to a park nearby to chow down. I would definitely go here again. There is an extensive menu and it seems like everything is good.
google avatar

Yelp
Quick service, good portions, great prices and flavorful meats. They have daily specials too. Many options and Takes credit cards. Plenty of parking in lot.
google avatar

Josh B.

Yelp
Delicious food at a great price. This is my second time visiting. First time I had a Barbacoa burrito. Second time I had a Barbacoa taco and a fish taco. All three were great. The Barbacoa is tender lean and melts in you mouth. Fish taco was fresh and light. Can't beat the price for the quality and portion.

Jan K.

Yelp
Excellent Mexican breakfast burrito! The best I've had in Albuquerque! It's always crowded I. There so you know the food is great!

Yelp
I've been coming here since it was on Lomas. They recently moved locations. So dont confuse the old location on Lomas which is now called Taqueria MEXICANA. This place reminds me of my hometown of Los Angeles mexican food. Delicious! My fav is the caldo de res and the beef flautas/taquitos with guacamole. The shredded beef in the taquitos is overfilled to perfection! I also ordered the shrimp taco and carne asada taco! Both delicious. The salsa is hot and the chips are always warm. Highly recommend this place always!
