Taqueria Mi Tia

Google
Kinda mad I haven’t come here before this place was really good. Great flavors, fast friends service. They have so much on the menu I need to come back and try them all.

Google
Hole in the wall taqueria that delivers the goods! I had the birria taco plate and it was fantastic. Can't wait to go back and try something else!

Google
Small taco shop with breakfast options as well. It was filled with people for lunch rush but there was still room to sit comfortably. The food was great and came out quick along with salsa and toppings (cilantro, lime and onion). I was most impressed with the service as two of the waiters went out of their way to accommodate my stepdad who was being picky about which chile he wanted on the side. Great service and food- definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for somewhere that is affordable and casual.

Google
Five stars x100 across the board! My daughter n I were looking for great Mexican Food after a nice spa day. Food was delicious! We had al pastor tacos n birria tacos n we shared a side of rice n beans ~ Perfectly cooked n yummy. Customer service was friendly n excellent. Thank you!

Claudia K.

Google
El caldo de res está para chuparse los dedos! Un aplauso para la cocinera! Bien ricas sus tortillas de masa hechas en casa! 👏 The caldo de res (beef and vegetable soup) was finger licking good! Those home made tortillas are like the ones made in the RGV tortillerías. If you know, you know! This is authentic Mexican food, non of this Tex-Mex mess. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

Google
The food was excellent, the meat is delicious, I have been trying to find a good place to get tacos and finally found it!! what a hidden gem. Would recommend to anyone looking for good authentic Mexican food.. my nine-year-old daughter that is a picky eater. Enjoyed her food and almost finished it all. The staff is super nice and kind.

Google
This spot is seriously one of the best!! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We all ordered something different and thoroughly enjoyed all of our plates to the point of borderline bursting at the seams of fullness. You can feel the love for the food they present! The waiter is so dedicated such lovely people.

Google
I highly recommend this place to eat. My favorite is the bisteak ranchero! The steak is perfectly cooked and the flavor is amazing. I recommend having it with the green sauce.

Yelp
Stopped here while visiting the area and I'm glad I did because it was the best quesabirria I've ever had. The chips and salsa was pretty good too and the lady behind the counter was very friendly. I won't hesitate to stop here again next time I'm near Austin.

Yelp
Taqueria Mi Tia Y'all... how have I been sleeping on this place?! Taqueria Mi Tia is the real deal. I had the chicken enchiladas with rice and beans--delicious. But the real star of the show? The tacos. I ordered six--yes, six--so I wouldn't have to share with my husband. That's called self-care. I got three with corn tortillas and three with flour, and let me tell you, both were excellent. Perfectly cooked, seasoned just right, and full of flavor. I even saved a few for the next morning, warmed them up for breakfast and--oh my gosh--YUM. YUM. YUM. They held up beautifully. Now let's talk salsa--that green salsa deserves a standing ovation. Bright, fresh, and just the right amount of kick. The red salsa showed up, but it wasn't trying to be the main character. That green though? She stole the show. The service? Friendly and fast. The vibe? Chill and authentic. My husband and I have been on the hunt for a spot like this--for when we don't feel like cooking but still want something real. We found it. Bonus: They serve breakfast! I'm already planning my return for some early morning taco joy. Highly recommend you try it out.

Yelp
I saw their Monday special is two egg and potato tacos for $5, which I didn't think was that crazy of a deal, but I went for that and one pastor taco. They don't list their prices. After ordering, I found out the pastor taco was about $5.50. Hiding the prices feels purposely deceptive especially as the taco was not generously sized. The egg and potato tacos were very mediocre. They kept falling apart upon every attempt to pick it up. Same with the pastor, although the flavour was significantly better. I thought the pastor taco was very good, but the price is unreasonable for the size, especially compared to other local taco shops.

Yelp
Impressed with the flavor, price I'm excited that I found this place. I did not pick up but my friend said that everyone was friendly and it was a good place to eat at. I have been struggling to find good Mexican food and the enchiladas Rojas were it. Can't wait to try other things

Yelp
We found this place by doing a search for nearby food. It's a small and quaint establishment. You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. I had the doors and my husband had the flautas. Both were great. Then he decided to order the Tostada de Ceviche. That was the cherry on top! It was so flavorful and fresh. When we make it back to Round Rock, this place will be on our list.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Good customer service. I can see why one would have to set a reservation prior. Facility was clean as well. Menu wasn't overly complicated with too much stuff. Just right . Would definitely come back!

Yelp
5 Stars - A Hidden Gem! I'm from Houston and stopped by Taqueria Mi Tia on my way into Austin -- and WOW. The pozole? Absolutely bomb. Flavor-packed, comforting, and hit all the right notes. They went above and beyond with their service too -- super accommodating! I asked for a suero (hehehe), and they made me one with mineral water, manzanita, lemon, and a touch of sauce. Top-tier. The woman who helped me was so kind and made the whole experience even better. There's no way I'm ever visiting Austin-Round Rock again without stopping here first -- it's officially a tradition before heading back to Houston. Don't sleep on this spot!

Yelp
After reading the glowing Google reviews, I took my wife to Taqueria Mi Tia for lunch today. We arrived just before noon and I immediately noticed that many of the tables were covered in dirty dishes. We ordered at the counter and opted for enchilada plates, no beef, only chicken and cheese. As we waited for our food, the restaurant began to fill with people picking up orders and sone dining in. Eventually our chicken enchilada plates arrived with a fork but no other utensils. The tortillas were extremely tough and we had to ask for a knife to cut them. Very much different from the Google reviews! Overall, a major disappointment!

Yelp
We came for brunch one morning and my husband ordered the chilaquiles verdes with chicken. I ordered posole rojo with pork. I ordered the egg with nopales and bean and cheese - the fan favorite was egg with nopales. everyone liked that one the most. I really was sad they didnt have posole rojo only posole verde so i ordered the chilaquiles rojos with al pastor. It was like eating lava. If that's ur bag, this is the place for you. Next time, I'll get the egg with nopal. ;)
google avatar

Irma D.

Yelp
I ordered the red enchiladas de queso, and they were delicious. The enchiladas came with a side yummy refried beans and the rice. The rice on the side did not have much flavor, and that's my only con. My husband ordered the carne guisada plato, and it was so good. The meat was tender, cooked to perfection, and full of flavor. It also came with rice and beans. Our daughter ordered a bacon and egg taco, and she enjoyed it so much that she finished every bite. The tortillas de harina were clearly homemade. Overall, the food was authentic and delicious which is hard to find in the area. No pics because I was so hungry and devoured the thing!

Yelp
As I assumed sitting down to eat inside was a different experience. The corn tortillas are made in house, which in my opinion is best! Personally I do not like store bought flour tortillas and on the fence when it comes to store bought corn tortillas. I had no fat in my barbacoa taco, unlike my first experience. My husband had the steak and bean taco, which was bomb! Typing this review is making my mouth water! The staff was friendly, we were treated upon entry. What my husband ordered I don't think he saw on the menu but they made it for him. The salsa/chile was fire!! Dining in was definitely worth it!! The place is clean and while the restaurant is not huge, there is plenty of seating. We were not the only couple dining in, I noticed the staff checking on an elderly couple who was there before us and still when we left. The flavor of my huevos rancheros plate was mediocre. When my grandmother makes huevos rancheros she cooks it slightly different. One of my eggs was slimy, not cooked completely and that was ugh, well, not pleasant to say the least. I think we would definitely go back for breakfast tacos. I'd give a five star but that slimy egg lost a star for me!
google avatar

Biker J.

Yelp
We missed breakfast at our hotel so my stepson and I decided to come to this place. I got the huevos rancheros that I hadn't had in quite awhile. The eggs were cooked well, the beans had good taste but I thought the potatoes could have been a little browner (my preference). The coffee was good also. There was a gentleman having menudo and he said it was very good. Maybe next time we're in town I'll have some. The young man waiting on us was very kind and friendly. Good service. The place is clean and modest. I would visit this place again.

Jimi T.

Yelp
Not my speed. Bad service and weird ordering set up. The food was aight. Not much love put in the tacos and the tamale was hella old. The taco was ok, sticking to Juarez.
google avatar

Alma G.

Yelp
Very traditional Mexican food, owner makes her own chorizo. The tamales and the carnitas are so good. Come try it.

Yelp
Great spot for birria tacos. I always get the quesabirra tacos. I think it has more melted cheese than a regular birria taco. These are some of the best I've had. Tender juicy meat with gooey melty cheese on the inside and crispy cheese on the outside of the tortilla. The consume, onions, and cilantro take it to the next level. The green and red hot salsas are awesome too.
google avatar

Gero V.

Yelp
Everything tasted amazingly great! I ordered their quesabirria tacos, flautas, and guacamole with chips. The quesabirria tacos were savory and just a bit spicy, but not too spicy. The cheese was melty and stretchy like Oaxaca. They make their own chips and tortillas --These taste amazing! The chips are the thick, crunchy, authentic kind! The guac came in a 4 oz cup, but it was generously filled, fresh, and flavorful. I tried all 3 salsas with the chips, and they each had their own tasty flavor. The flautas were crunchy and filling, topped with fresh shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sour cream, avocado and queso fresco and served with refried beans. --Those beans were cooked with something delicious, giving it a bit of smokey flavor and reminding me of bbq or bacon. I am eagerly awaiting my next visit.

Tarah N.

Yelp
Food was fantastic! The enchiladas (both red and green) were great! The salsas were also amazing-spicy! Yum! This LA native will eat here again! The service was also wonderful, very kind staff!
google avatar

Katie P.

Yelp
Awesome service. Awesome food. The tomatillo salsa was fantastic. I had the flautas birria which left me full and warm inside. Excellent broth, deep flavors. The Pollo taco was well seasoned and well cooked. They're not skimpy on the limes either. Big fat wedges. Three people left VERY full for $40. 10/10 so far. Definitely go.

Yelp
I've been looking for decent Mexican food for the last 6 months and I finally found my go to spot! Everything was delicious. Authentic Mexican flavors made with homemade sauces. Great quality ingredients. Staff was friendly and attentive. Our server was very kind and went above and beyond and even offered us a sample of the menudo (not pictured) which was also very tasty. I will definitely be coming back to try their entire menu.
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
Good quesabirria tacos and bean and cheese tacos. Would like to come back and try more some time! Interior is clean and cashier was polite and helpful.

Yelp
Great service Clean restaurant Tasty food Easy location Good price Friendly staff

Food E. F.

Yelp
Tried the birria and couple of tacos. Food was good. Came out pretty fast. Locally owned. I don't know if this would be my go to spot but would give it another try.

Izzy T.

Yelp
You call in the order they still get it wrong. Completely incompetent. Worse then McDonald's. Improve better staff that pays attention to details.

Yelp
Let's get down to it, The first time we went there this place was really good. It was very authentic and taste just like my grandma would make. I thought it was a little pricey considering the portion size but still worth it. However on our second trip I don't know what happened but it seems like they had switched some things around and their red sauce was different. Maybe we'll give it a third go, but it is pricey.

Lori D.

Yelp
Excellent fajitas and skinny margarita. The server did a great job. The restaurant was clean.
google avatar

Genesis R.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast tacos and pancakes!! Will definitely be back to try other foods as well.
google avatar

Lory O.

Yelp
The food was so delicious. We had great service and the place was very cozy. My twins enjoyed everything. We had to get extra beans and rice. Coming back for breakfast.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
Y'all, this place has my heart. Everything we tried was so delicious and reminded me of home. I meant to take pictures as soon as the food came out but we all dug right in. There wasn't a single scrap of leftovers on my family's plates. Even my picky daughters ate it all up. Please support this business, you will not be disappointed. The owner is incredibly kind and passionate, she's got the best Mexican food in Round Rock hands down.
google avatar

Jacquelyn M.

Yelp
Not good. No flavor. Tortillas were good. That's about it. The employees were very nice. I just wish they served better food
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
First time going to this taco place. The service was great and fast. I got me a chicharrón gordita and quesabirria. I didn't like the chicharron gordita but that quesabirria taco was the best I've ever had. I will definitely be going back for those quesabirria tacos.

Pamela M.

Yelp
Food was ok but bartender and wait staff were awful. Customers were waiting while they were constantly on their phones.

Zoe R.

Yelp
So good. Omg. Enchiladas Rojas were amazing. Quesadilla was so thick and delicious. We had a torta and pozole which were great as well. The food came out fast. Service was great. Prices were great as well. We will be back!
google avatar

Pedro T.

Yelp
Food lacked flavor and the store bought flour tortillas they used for tacos smelled horrible! Just wasnt good.

Mark C.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food. Had tamales, birria flautas and tacos. All were super flavorful

Matt R.

Yelp
Hands down, the best taqueria in north Austin metro. Authentic to the core. Must come here

Marcell l.

Yelp
I love this place in a city full of fusion hipsters it was nice to find a real Mexican food spot

Zachary M.

Yelp
These tacos are a must try if you're looking for food in the RR area!! Everytime I go I try something new and it's never short of amazing
google avatar

Melanie C.

Yelp
The food was the best Mexican we've had in the area since moving here! The service was great and food was out fast! 10/10 recommend if you're wanting Authentic!!

Rik J.

Yelp
Tacos were pretty solid, as were salsas. Good value too w torchys getting up to $7 per taco these days. This is a new staple for us.
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
I have been coming there three times by myself twice with my wife and I authentic Mexican food very good. Very tasty. Awesome people awesome service. Love it coming back this weekend.

Jazalyn R.

Yelp
Hard to find a good Mexican restaurant in this area and Mi tias is now our go to spot! Great customer service. Family owned and run. Food was fresh and so good. The aguas frescas were refreshing.

Nancy G.

Yelp
I was exited to try this place because of the reviews. The menu looked good. However, I ordered two tacos and a caldo de res. The caldo had one piece of meat and it was attached to a very large bone. So it was not good.

Cat G.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food. Definitely recommend. This place has the best enchiladas made from scratch. The red sauce is superb. The birria tacos and the quesobirria are also must haves. The menudo is phenomenal. This restaurant is the first true authentic Mexican restaurant that I've been to in the Round Rock and Austin area!!

Rachael O.

Yelp
A small, unassuming store front on the corner Gattis School Rd. and Greenlawn might have reincarnated my grandma (Ama). I had a few minutes before I had to be at my sub job, so I stopped by and saw they serve nopalitos! I bought 1 full and deliciously greasy taco and took it with me. I sat at my desk and opened the foil wrapping to steaming tastiness. I took a bite and immediately thought of Ama. I was almost teary eating this taco. I didn't even use the salsa. I came back the next day to get more tacos for my family. They have an extensive taco menu but also caldo de res, pozole, and menudo! I can't wait to try those! After a friendly chat with the hostess, I found out that the store front opened a year ago last February. The owner had been selling in the convenience store next door before that. I was told that EVERYTHING is made there. I saw three women rolling and pressing tortillas-- HOMEMADE TORTILLAS! They even make the masa in house! I'm so very impressed! If food holds an importantly nostalgic place in your heart, please support this taqueria! You won't regret it!
google avatar

Genesis C.

Yelp
really delicious hole in the wall with great, friendly service. ordered quesabirria which hit the spot, perfectly hot and meat was so savory. only qualm is the portion size, a bit pricey for serving compared to other places but would definitely go back for this birria

Carissa B.

Yelp
Exceptional food and friendly service!! A place with great refried beans and home-made tortillas gets me every time. Mi Tia has both! Our favorite breakfast spot!!! Migas are top notch. The hubby loves the barbacoa and the pastor. My go to is an egg, bacon, potato, and bean taco on flour. OMG!!

Twila K.

Yelp
The food here was okay, nothing special; I was both surprised and disappointed as this place has a 5 Star rating. I was truly expecting the food to be out of this world, but it just didn't deliver. Between my husband and myself we tried a chicken burrito, chili verde posole and chicken enchiladas, none of which was more than just okay. The restaurant itself was a bit dirty also. The people were quite nice, though.

Diane S.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Food is fresh and delicious. The employees were very nice. Prices were spot on. I will definitely go back.
