San Francisco Cocktail Hitmakers True Laurel and Pacific Cocktail Haven Land on ‘50 Best Bars’ List | Eater SF

"A Santa Rosa restaurant that doubled as an all-ages, DIY music-scene mosh pit: from 2022 the little taqueria that could hosted up to 200 locals for raucous shows before a neighbor (or, quite frankly, a killjoy) shut down the venue last month with a noise complaint, a story covered by SFGATE." - Dianne de Guzman

Yelp
I walked in and asked what their house specialty was. They recommended the fish taco and the chile relleno. That's exactly what I had. It came with rice, beans, and a fresh in house made tortilla for $14. It was excellent and I was completely satisfied when I finished. Excellent, attentive and friendly service. Would repeat.

Yelp
Soooo good! My first time visiting this little mom and pop shop. The tacos were very good. The folks there are so nice. After finishing our tacos, the lady brought out some to share!! So grateful for the hospitality. We will definitely return when in the area.

Yelp
What a find!! Stopped by as we were running errands, and are so happy we did!! It's a 'locals' spot for sure! We were greeted with a smile by an older gentleman. The tortillas were being handmade in the back while we were ordering. We had carne street tacos and a quesabirria. The street tacos were delicious. The quesabirria was absolutely heavenly. The meat melted in my mouth, and the broth was so rich with flavor! The best quesabirria I've had to date!(and I try them everywhere). I highly recommend checking them out - it's cozy and everyone was so friendly and kind!! What a treat!!

Yelp
Yeeessss, this place was legititits!! You know it's gonna be good when you walk in and the guys taking your order don't even speak English. And, uh, spoiler alert, THEY WERE SUPER FREAKING GOOD! The inside looks like every single Taqueria that you've ever been in, so don't be surprised when you walk in and it looks like every single Taqueria that you've ever been in. But it's chill, cuz the vibe is chill and every just wants to order Tacos or some other weird thing that someone would get on a Taco Tuesday. But hey!!!!!!! Everyday is Tuesday in Mexiko!! Or something like that. I dunno, man.

Yelp
Taqueria Mila is so Good that I Made a banda song in Español about it! https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/Uvsqn2UNaJ96nfLh8 (Para quienes lean la reseña completa, la versión en Español se encuentra al final, y la cancion de banda para Taqueria Mila se puede escuchar aqui https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/Uvsqn2UNaJ96nfLh8 I've been to countless taquerias in search of the perfect burrito, but nothing prepared me for the culinary masterpiece that is Taqueria Mila's mega burrito. Tucked away on a cozy street corner, this place might look unassuming from the outside, but step in, and you're greeted with the rich aroma of spices and the warm smiles of the staff. Last Saturday, after a long hike, I decided to give Taqueria Mila a try. As I unwrapped the foil around the mega burrito, I knew I was in for something special. The first bite was a revelation: tender carne asada, perfectly seasoned rice, creamy guacamole, and just the right amount of melted cheese all wrapped in a fresh, warm tortilla. It was like a symphony of flavors dancing in perfect harmony. Mid-meal, an elderly gentleman at the next table struck up a conversation. He shared that he had been coming to Taqueria Mila every week since it opened 20 years ago. He told me stories of how the owner, Mila herself, started the business with family recipes passed down through generations. Just then, Mila came out from the kitchen, and to my surprise, she joined us, offering a complimentary sample of her homemade churros. It felt less like a restaurant visit and more like a family gathering. By the time I left, I wasn't just full--I was fulfilled. The combination of incredible food and genuine hospitality made it an unforgettable experience. If you're anywhere near the area, do yourself a favor and order the mega burrito at Taqueria Mila. Your taste buds will thank you! For anyone reading the full review, the Spanish version is provided below.

Yelp
I arrived around lunch time and it was not crowded which was a bit concerning because the restaurant was smaller than I expected. The señora was making tortillas with a smile. A young man took my order promptly after entering. The menudo with pata (pigs foot) and the hand made tortillas was so delicious. It came in a big bowl and took some back home along with a few tortillas. A great find for authentic Mexican food by way of Guadalajara. Viva Mexico!

Laura S.

Yelp
Small taqueria , family owned and local and by far the Best tacos and burritos in town and definitely try the handmade tortillas

Yelp
4.25/5 stars I recommend it here if you can! Looks like a family-owned business & traditional authentic taqueria. I had one of each: asada, el pastor, and beans paired with corona and lime. I enjoyed el pastor though it was saltier than expected, and the juices were boiling, so be careful because I burned my chin a bit (that was my bad). The beans were good. I'm not as big of a fan of the type of beef (beef chunk) they used for the asada. Focus on functionality over form! Friendly staff. I feel they must be a family because they were chatting happily in the kitchen. I don't think you need any frills in this type of environment.

Yelp
Decent food. What I don't appreciate is an employee/affiliated forcefully grabbing me and pulling me out of a notaflof show as a teenage girl. Not a safe comfortable environment. If you're here for the food then yeah it's alright nothing special. If you're here for shows, be careful. Completely ruined my experience and my trust for this restaurant.

Yelp
My wife & I ate here on Saturday the 9th. The food was very very good & the service was excellent. I'm a Vegan & they were able to altera burrito. I would highly highly recommend & if you like "heat", try the orange salsa. It is served with a warning. We will be back

Yelp
The best menudo I've had in CA. The family that runs it is so friendly, service was great. Hand-made tortillas when you order. It's a whole in the wall-my favorite!

Aira G.

Yelp
I don't know how this place got 4 stars this place is dirty & run down . Ordered the super nachos everything was over salted . The pastor was greasy with a old taste to it. Taste nothing like pastor . Just meat with a ton of sauce. Side or rice and beans the rice was mush! Absolute mush! Then the beans were over salted as well. To top it off there was a hair in it. I never complain but this was ridiculous. The total was 39. Like how? I'll never spend money here again. Lesson learned. Absolutely disgusting. I would even go as far to call the food code department. If I could give zero stars I would. But I can't.

Yelp
We were driving North and started craving tacos. Another review said this place had the best tacos in the county. It was right! The tacos here are fantastic. We ordered their fish, chicken, and steak tacos and each one was great! We had a great dinner and it felt kinda like home while there. A great food experience!

Yelp
Great Mexican food! Second time here and won't be the last! My family and I really like the food here. We've tried the shrimp burrito, carne asada torta, carne asada chimichanga, chicken chimichanga, fish tacos, and carne asada taco! The fish taco was a bit too fishy for my liking but EVERYTHING else was AMAZING!!! I highly recommend this restaurant to all! They make their own chips and salsa, and it's delicious! The prices are too good to be true! Super affordable! I'm looking forward to trying their posole! Both times we went in the didn't have horchata but that won't stop me from coming back. I am a big fan of this restaurant.

Yelp
We stopped by this spot on a whim. We weren't really looking for Mexican food but compared to the options, this one was by far the best. The ladies working the cash register and kitchen were a joy. It was less like a restaurant and more like an extension of my tia's kitchen. They have all that you'd want including vegetarian/plant based options. I ordered the bean tacos and they were good. My dad had the chicken tacos, and my brother had fish tacos (tilapia). Very simple flavors, good toppings, and perfectly portioned. Alongside a grapefruit jarrito, it was a nice stop. I only give it 4 stars because of the cleanliness of the tables, and a want for more flavor. Not salt, just more flavor. I may just be spoiled with always having great Mexican food at home. I would love to visit this place again whenever I pass through Santa Rosa again.

Yelp
Best taqueria in sonoma county HANDS DOWN Great service, cool vibe. If you are in the area, you gotta give this place a try. Guarantee customer for life right heree

Yelp
I came here for lunch and got some tacos and they were soooo good! I'm usually picky when it comes to tacos but these were amazing. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Seriously the BEST burrito I've ever had. Burritos are my favorite food and I've gotten them wherever I go, and seriously these are the best ones I've ever had. The salsa is insane too. There must be some kind of pepper or some secret ingredient that sets it apart. And it's not too spicy (I'm such a wimp about spice). Cant recommend these enough

Yelp
This is your ultimate hole in the wall, secret spot for legit, cooked-by-Mama provincial Mexican food. I had the combo plate with chile relleno and a carnitas enchilada. The tomato sauce that comes with a chile relleno tastes like it took days to simmer, the flavors are so balanced, mellow and unique, and the enchilada is a fabulous birria style shredded beef wrapped and grilled to perfect crispness in a homemade tortilla, topped with the right amt of shredded lettuce and generously topped with a cotilla dressing. The whole thing just works. And let's talk about the homemade tortillas. Mila presses them in front of you, and toasts them to warm perfection on the grill. It's the best tortilla I have ever had. I can't wait to come back for birria and fresh tortillas. If you're in the area, you'll want to make this place part of your food circuit.

Yelp
La mejor comida mexicana en el área tan amables se siente como si comieras en casa la verdad lo super recomiendo la comida está hecha con amor y muy buen sazón

Elan S.

Yelp
Very tasty, authentic, and affordable. In short, everything one could want in a taqueria. It's also just off the 101 and makes a perfect road trip pit stop.

Yelp
Ugh I love this authentic place. It's to die for, yummy in my tummy. The people are amazing, friendly, and very fluent speaking, especially when ensuring my order is correct--Even though I order a simple burrito de frijol & queso. Instead of calling other HUMANS unfriendly & complaining about a language barrier, Liz G., why don't you go learn a new language, be appreciative of the people that tend to your ungrateful ass & suck it. I can't imagine the poor treatment you project to other people who tend to your psychological needs. Like your hunger. Thank god I'm not racist. I'll hop scotch my way to some bomb ass food any day, any time. Bad bitch here. I love me some mofuckin tacos, burritos, sopa, sopes. But for Liz--no hablo inglés putaaaaa

Anahi G.

Yelp
Very good authentic Mexican food and great service from all the workers, would highly recommend

Yelp
Yummy fresh tortillas, delicious burritos. I'll definitely be coming back for more. Five stars.

Yelp
Delicious food, simple and very friendly service. It's one of those hole-in-the-wall type places that you want to keep a secret, because the food is so good you don't want others making you have to wait in line. Although you want the business to be successful... so you share...lol! Highly recommended! Try the carnitas ... anything. Our faves were burritos and tacos of course.
google avatar

Ricardo S.

Yelp
Family owned and/or run restaurant on a strip mall makes surprisingly well made Mexican dishes. Handmade tortillas! A little hole in the wall run by nice people that cook good food.
google avatar

Joshua I.

Yelp
Easily some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. The tortillas are FRESH (meaning made to order) and the meat is so well seasoned. You cannot go wrong. I've eaten here twice with two different sets of people and everyone has gotten something different. Go, eat, enjoy!
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
This was truly authentic. The gentleman taking orders spoke minimal English. Families enjoying lots of food together take up most of the minimal seating. Family in the back making the food. Tacos were AMAZING and even the chips were fresh. Definitely a great little spot and will be coming back!

Yelp
PINEAPPLE IN THE PASTOR ? THESE GUYS JUST WON THEIR WAY TO MY HEART. This Taco Queen approves this place. Look....... I will admit, I'm a taco snob. I'm stingy with my 5 stars but this place gave me no reason whatsoever to score it less. To Allison M who wrote a bad review --- I stopped by your page and it appears to me with all of your 1 and 2 star reviews out of the 25 or so you have that you have written, it appears you may be tricky to please. Seems like wherever you've gone, things just aren't to your satisfaction. I apologize for that. Taqueria Mila has only been here 6 months since May. I love the old owners and Martha is fantastic. These new owners have given it a face lift and it's so much more attractive and inviting. Their menu board is more appealing to the eye with a yellow background. Their new custom countertop at the register gives it a nice touch. I love the color selection they chose. THE FOOD : It's down right delicious. Pineapple in the pastor wins it's way to my heart every single time. I enjoy this Pastor much better than the pastor up the street at la Plaza where they put Pineapple chunks in it too. I go to La Plaza for the local craft beer selection. I really enjoyed my shrimp taco as well. The gentleman behind me was eating a Quesoritto. A super burrito wrapped in a quesadilla. BRILLIANT !!!!!! The other plates coming out looked devine. The Chilie Relleno looks amazing. It will be a must try for next time. Their chips are super fresh and warm. Their salsa is tasty. If you want to crank up the heat, ask for the spicy one in back. It will light you on fire. My only issue was the rice was bland. I won't ding a place of something as silly as bland rice. I love Taqueria Mila. Mila is a mother and a wife. This is a beautifully owned family business.

Sheryl R.

Yelp
I love this little place but twice now I have come. The doors open the sign on the door says they're open till 9 but I'm told they closed at 8. I'll be taking my business elsewhere!
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE. Where do I start? Their fish tacos are amazing! So much fish inside and I usually get it wrapped in lettuce. Mila is the chef and she truly makes everything fresh there. I also love their tamales. I order 12 at a time and bring them home to freeze the ones I can't finish. This is a true family owned business and they are truly the kindest, nicest most hard working family out there. They have been robbed twice recently and still remain positive and hopeful. Support this business. You will not regret it in any way!

Yelp
I've been wanting to write this review for a while now. Came in here on a whim one Saturday a month or so ago and I have to say, I'm glad I did. Their homemade tortillas (only available on weekends) were great and the al pastor was excellent. I'm a total al pastor snob and so far this place is my 2nd favorite al pastor in Sonoma county. It has that authentic sweet yet spicy flavor with profile with pineapple that I love.
google avatar

Kat M.

Yelp
Went in for a "snack" and left having consumed a lot of food. We eat Mexican a lot and haven't found a really good taqueria in healdbsurg. This is THE place for us! No, it's absolutely not white table cloth and yes, it is super small. It there is so much pride in the cooking and the owners are so sweet. The food is spectacular. Do try the carnitas. And the pastor was authentic style with the pineapple. Si si me gusta!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
This is the real deal. Mila took my order and made a dozen tortillas and tacos from scratch. Delicious! Amazing quality and huge portions.
google avatar

Valerie W.

Yelp
Great place to stop before your costco or target runs! Fantastic food and fresh ingredients. Had tacos and fajitas; all excellent. Will be back. Service was friendly!

Fernando J.

Yelp
Asegúrense de revisar sus recibos y que no les hayan cobrado demás porque a mí me cobraron $15 demás me cobraron dos guacamole es que nunca ordené porque yo ni siquiera como guacamole nomás

Josh M.

Yelp
Just look at the condition of the kitchen and know your food was made in there at some point yesterday!!! you be the judge
google avatar

Mitzy M.

Yelp
Nope. I ordered a "super" burrito. All I got was rice, beans and meat. Not lettuce, sour cream, cheese, salsa, avocado. Nothing. Took my first bite. Flavorless, no flavor, no spice. Disappointed. When I saw the review and ratings, I thought it would be great. But really disappointed. Wouldn't come back here.

Karla M.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! If you love authentic Mexican food, you will absolutely LOVE this place. They offer the option of making any taco or quesadillas with freshly made tortillas. We ordered tacos with "tortillas hechas a mano" and a quesadilla. Delicious! Must visit this place and support small businesses like these!!!!!!

Nancy H.

Yelp
The place was dirty. Came in husband was sitting at one of the tables as was the wife on her phone. Supplies on almost all of the tables. Cups cases of coke. Floor had paper onion skin etc. was a little worried when I ordered my food. The rice and beans were good however my taco was like a taquito. And my enchilada was flat not like a enchilada at all. Really needs a makeover and a good cleaning.
google avatar

Augustine R.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch with my family and we were surprised with how polite and how great service they had for a small place. The food was excellent some of the best Mexican food. Highly recommended this place
google avatar

Lizzette C.

Yelp
Worst customer service I received. Old man was terrible, I asked for regular sized tacos and then changed my mind two seconds later and said "large ones instead actually" and he said "i cant i already put it in" WHAT?!? You cant erase an item i ordered before I have even paid ?! Terrible service. Disappointed.

Alicia C.

Yelp
That need to pay someone to clean the place is a little bit dirty!. Food is good service is great! They just need to take better care of the place.
google avatar

Kathy S.

Yelp
Very tasty burritos here! I saw this place had four stars so I figured it was going to be good I was real disappointed when I went inside and saw how small it was and the tables were all dirty I don't know how it got four stars but the food is definitely four stars
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
You can definitely taste the efforts and the authenticity in this food! Everything is made here fresh daily. The owners are from a small town in Jalisco. This place is a little hidden, but it's definitely a gem! They serve pozole all week!!! Something not a lot of Mexican restaurants do. The hominy is not from a can, and you can taste the difference! The beer is nice and cold! Personally I opted for a carnitas burrito, because it's so late and I didn't want a huge bowl. The bowls of pozole are enormous! My partner and her family couldn't even finish the bowls of pozole, and they're avid pozole eaters. Definitely worth a try if you love yourself some good authentic food! They even hand make their tortillas! The carnitas were delicious! My burrito was pretty plain, since I can't eat too many spices. However, their salsa for their chips isn't spicy at all, so I added that to the burrito along with some lime. I am looking forward to coming here again, and seeing them in their future location next year. Wishing them loads of success and good business!! Giant plus, gender neutral bathroom!!!

Scorr R.

Yelp
Delicious and authentically Mexican! Food served with a smile and piping hot. Ingredients are fresh especially the tortillas made from scratch. No no

Yelp
Almost walked out but sooo glad we stayed! Found on yelp. At first glance not impressive but so good. Handmade tortillas and the family that owns it gave us great service.

Yelp
Great food and great service. If you spend your money here, you'll know it's going towards a hard working family. This is a real family owned restaurant. If you choose a chain restaurant over Taqueria Mila, then are you even American?
