‘Guy’s Ranch Kitchen’ Is One of the Best Food Network Shows | Eater

"A lively porch kitchen on the owner's Santa Rosa estate that serves as the setting for a Food Network series in which five celebrity chefs cook and the host does the tasting. The space is outfitted with a wood-burning pizza oven, a massive grill, and multiple tricked-out ranges; many dishes incorporate vegetables and herbs from the estate and even honey harvested from the property's bee farm. The show emphasizes ambitious, often successful dishes (examples include a dukka-topped Egyptian spinach pie, a steamed and fire-roasted goose with blood orange sauce, and a shellfish-rich paella) alongside occasional memorable flops, and it streams on Amazon and airs on the Food Network." - Greg Morabito

The food was mouth watering. I was seated immediately. Most tacos were $3.5 so I was able to try many. Look up any words you don’t know because they have a variety of options to taste including tongue, stomach, and the intestines of either a cow or pig! On the weekends, the menu opens up even wider for a selection of meals to try. There was also a “salsa bar” so you can choose your own salsa and can spice it up with other condiments like radish or lime. I was so satisfied that I ordered to go! Enjoy 💕

Food is average. Not what I was sold on with pictures. Super super spicy place not for travelers. I love Mexican food but sheesh. For the price you'd expect it to be nicer or higher quality food.

Google
You should make the journey because this food SLAPS. Horchata on point. Lengua and cabeza 🤌 And you must have a molcajete. We had the mixta and it was fantastic. Would and will come back again. Knocked one star as the service is meh, but easily overlooked this because of the food. Just make sure you order two glasses of water from the start and don’t be shy to stand up and walk to the kitchen window to ask. They won’t come check on you.

Google
I had high hopes for Taqueria Molcajete, but unfortunately, it fell short. I ordered the meat molcajete, and the sauce was so thick and overpowering that it completely masked the flavor of everything else in the dish. It felt like all I was tasting was the sauce. Service wasn’t great either. One thing that really threw me off was being asked if I was paying with cash or card before even seeing the bill. I used my card and tapped it on their machine, then asked for a receipt—only to find a surprise $2 “electronic charge” added. This kind of fee is not only shady but actually illegal in many places. I’m contacting my credit card company to dispute the charge and will be reporting this business for what I consider a fraudulent practice. Definitely not a place I’ll be returning to.

Having eaten the delicious authentic Mexican food here, I’m going to immediately reduce the rating for every Mexican restaurant in my hometown of Pittsburgh by two stars. Everything is bursting with flavor - even the refried beans are tasty! Where have you been all my life?!

Google
Generous portion burrito. Veggie with cheese and tasty sauce. Delicious. Great horchata. Service was speedy. Lots of seating and big tables. Prices on digital menu were different (higher) than what was shown for what I was ordering. They said they need to update the prices.

Pilar Zambrano

Google
Very small tacos for the price they use to be bigger and the quantity of the meat is very little they use to serve better quantities and quality it use to be a very good place to eat not any more so sad it changed!

Yelp
This might have to be my new favorite Mexican restaurant in town! We have been here a few times and we always leave happy!! Tonight they had live music. They had a guy singing and playing the guitar. Once you are seated you are greeted with menus and tortilla chips. They have sauce containers for you and you fill your own salsa at the salsa bar. Chips are good. Hearty crunch with good flavor. We love their Molcajetes carne. It comes with Grilled chicken, beef, al pastor, chorizo, onion, cactus, fresh cheese and grilled serrano pepper. When they bring it out to you it's bubbling and sizzling in a hot stone cauldron of yumminess. The smell of all the meats and sauce immediate makes you excited to dive in. The dish also comes with the standard rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, and tortillas. Their tortilla are so good! They taste homemade! They have a good thickness to it with a good flavor. All the meats were chef kiss! The chicken and chorizo were my favorites. Chicken was very tender and chorizo was the right flavor and not spicy. Since it's served on a hot stone bowl you get the occasional crispy bits of meat which is nice texturally. Idk what they put in the sauce but it's very complementary to all the meats, tieing everything together very well. Prices are reasonable for the portion size, I think it was $34. This could feed 2-3 people. We also ordered the fajitas mixta. It came with chicken, beef, shrimp, onions, and peppers. Fajitas were ok. The molcajete has way more flavor. Brownie points for having a high chair! If thinking of the molcajete alone, I give this a 5/5!

Yelp
They were pretty busy when I got there, but I got seated right away. I ended up at the end of a long table, with a family at the other end. They have beer, but the server didn't know what they had. I was looking for something nonalcoholic, which they didn't have. They ordered three street tacos. It felt like it took an eternity for them to arrive. When they arrive, they were barely still warm. No, thanks.
google avatar

Yelp
The closest Al pastor tacos outside of Mexico City that you will get around here. Small street sized Al pastor tacos, good flavors, plenty of sauces if you want to kick up the spice. The chicken tacos were overly salty but come here for the Al Pastor!!

Debi F.

Yelp
Yum! Portions are gigantic, my son couldn't even finish half the burrito and that is saying something for a teenager! I had the chili verde it was delicious and again a giant portion. I can't wait to come back and try the molca is with my husband

Yelp
Food here is phenomenal if you're looking for true authentic Mexican food this is where you wanna be. Service is amazing- everyone here is so nice Vibes is chill like you're among family. They are most known for their hand made torts (well that's what I love about em) The weekends are crazy busy here as they do pozole and menudo and birria only and be prepared to wait!

Yelp
The Original!!! I think this is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Santa Rosa and that is high, high praise. I don't go as much as I would like, but I just found out my wife's favorite item is available on request! Some day I would love to eat there and try one of the Molcajetes, its looks fun and a bit of food theater. The services is good, nothing amazing but what you would expect from a casual restaurant. I love all their meats, probably the Al Pastor more than any other! But i would bath in the orange salsa if I could! It is smokey, spicy and rich, I love it and not alot of places have orange salsa in the area. If you are like me and your partner really like chili relleno burrito, it may not be on the menu, but they have it!
google avatar

Yelp
Fast and easy service... I ordered the Chili Rellano ala cart and it was delicious!! I'll definitely be back for more
google avatar

Linda P.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst! I couldn't eat taco salad inside overly browned tortilla shell that transferred bitter taste to the food. Service was fine but, frankly, shouldn't have been charged; I would've gotten a replacement of a different item if I had been asked. I still left a decent tip. I won't go back. Previous time, onions were scooped up with bare hands and put on my to-go food. I paid but thru all in garbage after I left. A waste of a $30 lunch!

Steve F.

Yelp
A better explanation of what there special enchiladas really are. Will not return. A couple tortillas soaked in enchilada sauce with a pinch of cheese in them and a chicken drumstick on the side is not an enchilada.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I have been here multiple times and it's always a hit. I was pleased at our visit yesterday to see that they've gone back to traditional table service rather than having us order at the counter. I ordered their torta with al pastor (theirs is seriously one of the best I've ever had) and my husband had two tacos al pastor. My torta was absolutely amazing, the bread was soooo soft. I loved the grilled jalapeño strips they add. My husband's tacos were perfect as always. He was stoked that they gave him some grilled onions and a whole jalapeño. Their salsas are all really good too. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some of the best Mexican food around!!
google avatar

Deanna C.

Yelp
Swung in for dinner and ordered some cheese enchiladas and the Molcajete de Carne. It was a really good molcajete, really good flavor. Be sure to ask for extra molcajete sauce. They also had a really good salsa bar with lots of good salsas. Almost forgot to mention they have a decent michelada.

Yelp
Excellent family owned restaurant. We found it online when visiting and saw that it had been on the Food Network with guy fieri and he had recommended it on his restaurant list for Santa Rosa. My mom got the nachos. We had Carne Asada tacos and I had a vegetarian tostada and everything was excellent. They were so friendly and welcoming. The salsa and the chips were so good. We will definitely be back next time. We're in town, highly recommend!

Yelp
Always delicious and great service! Tried to mojarra frita this time and it did not disappoint!

Yelp
Came from San Jose to try the food. It was delicious but the service completely sucked. Our waitress was only interested in us when it was time to pay. When we had questions on what to order she had 0 patience and said she would come right back. That never happened, we had to ask for help.

Yelp
With all the good Mexican food here in Santa Rosa Taqueria Molcajetes stands towards the top of them. I've had the El Pastor and the lingua tacos, as well as the carmone de la Diabla. Every dish has been delicious. The also have a very good salsa bar. The staff is always friendly and the place is always clean. You can eat inside or on a nice day enjoy your food on the patio.
google avatar

Jay W.

Yelp
It's not going to get a Michelin star next week (nothing fancy here), but it's the best damn birria de res I've ever had. Outstanding salsas, friendly service, and delicious handmade tortillas. High energy and busy on the weekends. You might rub elbows with other hungry and amart diners. See you again soon!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine with a family friendly atmosphere, this restaurant is for you. The flavors were delicious and every thing was cooked perfectly. The staff were quick to acknowledge us and take our orders. The food was made quickly, so we didn't wait long for our orders. We appreciate their salsa bar, so we could get our favorites (and go back for more). I had the fajitas de pollo, and their tortillas were made in-house and fresh, and they made this dish so much better. My husband had a variety of their tacos, and loved them all. We will absolutely be back!
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
The food here is great! From the tacos, to the soups and the super special molcajetes, they are phenomenal. I love the salsa bar and variety of agua frescas here. The staff are always so nice and friendly. All of the meat options here are amazing. One of my favorite meat options for tacos or burritos is their suadero. Out of this world delicious!! Definitely a must have

Yelp
As a self-proclaimed Molcajete connoisseur, I had to try this place. It's in the name! I've had them in many different cities/states and love testing out the differences. On a Tuesday evening: I ordered the Molcajete Mixto ($32)here. First off, the salsa bar here is fun, lots of different homemade sauces. The molcajete comes with homemade tortilla, a side of rice, beans, guac and shredded lettuce. Okay back to the molcajete. There is so much meat! I've never seen so much meat in a molcajete. 6 pieces of shrimp that's perfectly cooked (other places have dinky shrimp that's overcooked), chorizo, chicken, Carne asada, 2 big chunks of questions with nice charring, a jalepeno, etc. The sauce is also scrumptious too, which is very important. The service is friendly here! They also serve you at your table with a menu and bring you the food. Not full on attentiveness but it's good service for a taqueria. The molcajete probably serves 2-4 people, but I got it for myself. Why deprive myself of leftovers? :) I do wish they ventilated more though. If you have a jacket, leave it in the car. It's pretty smoky!

Aaron B.

Yelp
Do not go here if you're white. My girlfriend and I went in, sat down, ordered, and then were completely ignored. Two large groups came in after we already placed our order - two burritos. They large groups ordered Molcajete bowls and numerous other things. They were both served before us. Everyone was served before us. Don't go here, don't support them. Everyone, including the customers, were all rude. Thanks for prioritizing everyone else and wasting our time.
google avatar

Yelp
Fresh ingredients and authentic flavor with great selection of salsa and aqua frescos.
google avatar

Diara N.

Yelp
The quesabirrias are fire. The consume is perfect with lime. They're nice and hot when served and come with a side of onion, cilantro, and lime. The environment was comforting and energetic. The restaurant was never empty! The waitresses were attentive and nice. Definitely will come again!!

Jake C.

Yelp
Best Al pastor in Sonoma County. All the meat is really good. You must try it. It has a really authentic feeling to it and tastes great.

Yelp
Taqueria Molcajetes was a recommendation from a family member who frequents Santa Rosa area for work. My partner and I ordered takeout.. We were happy with the tacos de carne asada, al pastor, y carnitas -- but I was a bit bummed because I ordered a regular quesadilla expecting it to come with crema, guac, and lettuce (no meat) as the menu stated, but they forgot to include all the toppings. Luckily, we had enough self served salsa and my bf gave me his extra guac! The free tortilla chips is a nice touch but wished they tasted better. Other than that, the business had our order on time and the food was great! The prices were decent but ended up spending over $60 for 6 tacos and 2 quesadillas. I'd definitely come back again!
google avatar

Dustin N.

Yelp
Great char on a few bites of the carne asada burrito. Nice sour cream and guacamole in the burrito. The salsa bar was decent with the green sauce the tastiest, bringing the burrito to another level. The The chips were fresh. Service was excellent and attentive. I would be eating here on a regular basis if it were closer to home.
google avatar

Kary A.

Yelp
Review is for take out only. Had some delicious menudo! If you want some you guys get up early to get it but it's so worth it. We got 2 servings but it is plenty for 1 of the servings to be for 2 people. I loved the handmade tortillas. I usually don't eat tortillas but can't turn down handmade ones. They send you all the fixings so you can add to your menudo. You can put it in a bowl or eat from there. We can't wait to go back and try some other things on their menu.

Rick R.

Yelp
Have enjoyed Taqueria Molcajetes burritos in the past, but the past few times have been a disappointment -- the carne asada was dry, greasy and burnt, kinda like I got the meat that had been sitting on the grill for hours (I ordered about an hour and a half before closing). Very disappointing for a $14 burrito (their prices have almost doubled). Plenty of other taquerias that have better food and better prices.
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
Terribly disappointing dinner. Do Not order the enchiladas special. For almost $20 you get one deep fried drumstick, several corn tortillas folded with queso fresco, a jalapeno and pickled carrots, cabbage, and potatoes. This was such a huge mistake. I came there, anticipating having goat Birria, but was told they only have it on the weekends, which means Saturday and Sunday. The waitress was nice, but the special is not special. Maybe camarones a la diabla would have been better.
google avatar

Stefano G.

Yelp
Everyone knows the Molcajetes are top notch here. But I went for something new and tried the chimichanga with carne asada and let me tell you... I was not disappointed. Smothered in suave, the asada was crisp on the exterior but juicy on the inside. The wait staff was so nice to my little guy (10 month old) and brought out some beans for him as well. It's now wonder this place is packed the food is delicious the service is wonderful and the atmosphere is delightful.

Jaimee C.

Yelp
Feel bad for saying this but this place keeps getting worse. Every time I come here instant regret. Today I decided to order their nachos and of course they were absolutely disappointing, the chips were stale and their prices don't match what they've listed online. Not coming here anymore when there's way better options. My fault for knowing better but seriously, stale chips when you order nachos. Not ok
google avatar

Julie G.

Yelp
Ambiance is not great. It looks like a cafeteria with junky tables n chairs. Food is fair.
google avatar

Karen F.

Yelp
Another disappointing dinner out! Met some friends here for my bday meal and was really excited. This place had been recommended by many people. Only to find out I went to the wrong place! Service was terrible, they were moderately busy but I'd give service about a 4. I got the Chile relleno and they were pretty good. Their combo platters don't let u mix and match things so I had to get two of the rellenos instead of one with a taco which I actually wanted. No birria after 2pm? One of the girls got chicken tacos and the meat had zero flavor. She had to salt them. The other friend got sopes and said the same. Disappointing for sure. I likely will not go back here.
google avatar

Spandana S.

Yelp
Vegetarian review - hands down the best sauces you'll find. Great service and tasty food. Favorite was chimichanga. Not sure if I can ever go back to a regular burger again! Tostada pales in comparison but a good and a light weight standalone. Quesadilla was also good along with rice and beans. Portions for everything was good. Absolutely loved it!
google avatar

Diana S.

Yelp
During my visit to Santa Rosa, I was craving a molcajete so I came up on this little restaurant. Got there like 20 min after they had opened during the weekday and a couple mins more they had a line waiting to get a seat as you have to sit yourself Service was great, we had like 3 different waitress taking care of us. Asking if we needed more tortillas or anything else Food was really delicious and big so it is worth the price, the adobada in my molcajete was well seasoned and not over cooked just as well as my chicken and asada. The rice had a delicious flavor and it was fluffy. The beans did not taste canned and the guac was really fresh. Tortillas were actually homemade Will def come back
google avatar

Yelp
This entire experience was a major fail. Tried to order inside the restaurant and was kicked outside to wait 30 minutes to order when the place was dead. Next fail is the table was completely sticky so that tells me that they are not properly cleaning the tables after each use Then as you can see in the pictures, they serve you burnt ass chips and weird salsa type of sauce supposedly? I'm not too sure what the hell it's supposed to be but it tastes like crap Next as you can see in the pictures, I get the cheese enchiladas that are covered in red diarrhea sauce. No idea if it's supposed to be some sort of enchilada sauce but it completely ruins the taste of the food and the sauce is horrible and that's putting it nicely. The staff were rude as we got forced to be outside and wait 30 minutes before anyone came by to take our order. I have seen a lot of people claim this is real Mexican food, I've had authentic Mexican food in Mexico, this crap is not real Mexican food. I wouldn't even say it's Tex Mex, it's just garbage. In conclusion, don't waste your time or money here. Taco Bell is better than this crap. Automatic 3 strikes and you're banned
google avatar

Kara S.

Yelp
Great food , and great service !!!!!! Stop by you won't regret it I really Like there seafood molcajete

Jessica M.

Yelp
Wonderful spot! The food is full of flavor, especially their salsa macha! If it wasn't so perfectly spicy, I would eat it with a spoon! Try their suadero and buche tacos. You won't be sorry! The service can seem spotty at times, but they always have BIG crowds on the weekend, and trust me, it's worth the wait. If you want to really treat yourself, on a cold day, get the champurrado. It's such a delight - like hot chocolate meets horchata. Chocolatey, cinnamon-y goodness. But careful, it's HOT! The food here will always hit the spot. Do yourself a favor and check it out! Or don't... more for us!
google avatar

Yelp
I noticed they didn't have any recent menus . So here are the updated menus as of June. 2023
google avatar

Luciente G.

Yelp
Ordered takeout and have dinner in many times. The molcajetes are outstanding. Everyone enjoyed their burritos and nachos. My salad was good but I was bummed that the Al pastor meat they put on my salad was all crumbs. I wanted MEAT. Next time I'll try the carnitas, my daughter ordered carnitas on her nachos and they looked incredible.

Jon H.

Yelp
Went for dinner and the experience was night and day from lunch. I sat down and waited for almost ten minutes and no one came over to take my order so I just left. The restaurant wasn't very busy so I'm confused why service was that bad. I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon.
google avatar

Jeremiah W.

Yelp
I used to come here all the time cause they had reasonable prices $3.99 for a bean and cheese burrito 6$ for extra beans and cheese in 2018 now they make their burritos ABOUT TWICE AS SMALL FOR TWICE THE PRICE! now it's 12$ for a bean and cheese with extra beans and cheese and it's barely half the size! I DONT THINK IM COMING HERE AGAIN ITS A WASTE OF MONEY
google avatar

Janet Y.

Yelp
Not to Impressed after receiving the wrong order. I ordered two Carne Asada Burritos tonight , came back home with two carnita burritos instead . Total bummer. There was more rice than anything else and the cheese wasn't melted in the burrito just sprinkled in and some weird salsa that tasted expired . Everything else is usually up to par . $27.24 for two Carnita Burritos .

Cindy D.

Yelp
My husband and I went yesterday on the early side for lunch. We were belatedly celebrating my birthday and I wanted an authentic molcajete . It used to be you ordered at the counter but now there is table service. Received a basket of chips and some little cups to help ourselves to the salsa bar. Ordered 2 al pastor tacos and molcajete mixto to share. We were only about halfway through the chips when our order came. While the tacos were delicious, the molcajete far exceeded my expectations. OMG. I had the leftovers for breakfast this morning. The molcajete alone was more than enough for 2 hungry people. The restaurant was clean and the staff were very friendly

Yelp
With a molcajete that is piping hot filled with meaty goodness, Taqueria Molcajetes is definitely worth a try. On the recommendation of my barber as one of the best Mexican places in the Sonoma County area, Tacqueria Molcajete was bookmarked for a place to try for awhile. After a hard workout, the craving for something really guilty hit me and the idea to go to Tacqueria Molcajete never felt so right. When I got there, the line was pretty long just to order food and most of the seats inside were taken up. Apparently, a long line during rush hours is common from what I was told so coming at off hours is recommended. Fortunately, the line moved fairly quickly and a table opened up right after ordering. When I ate the molcajete, the restaurant's namesake, is basically a stone mortar which keeps a spicy sauce with meat, cheese, and cactus piping hot for awhile. In addition, we were provided homemade tortillas, rice beans, lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole. Off to the side, there is a salsa bar filled with a great selection of fresh salsas and pickled vegetables. Easily, the molcajete was enough to feed a family! Besides the molcajete, there was plenty of other traditional Mexican dishes to order. I am definitely going to go again to try some of the other things! The service was fast and friendly. There was plenty of parking. Overall, Tacqueria Molcajetes is a small great Mexican spot to eat up in the Santa Rosa area.
google avatar

Tory M.

Yelp
The food is really fresh and the staff was kind. I just didn't think it was very flavorful. Don't get me wrong it's still very good but I like a lot of spice and a lot of seasoning and this just didn't hit me right. That being said, if you're a mild lover, I think you'd like it. It's also a little on the pricey side.
google avatar

Jose A.

Yelp
Taqueria Molcajetes is full of delicious authentic Mexican food. Tacos de birria, or their menudo on Sunday morning is a great way to star your Sunday mornings. You do have to get up bright and early, they open at 7am and they have menudo until they run out, which I have been told, sometimes by 8am it's all gone. Their menudo tastes super delicious, doesn't have that slimy bad odor that some menudo from other restaurants have. (Normally this happens because it's not clean and cooked properly). With your menudo order come- cilantro, chopped up onions, salsas, and 3 handmade tortillas. Give this place a try, and if you are a menudo lover, try their menudo. I drive 30 mins away to come get their menudo, that how good I think it is.

Claudia S.

Yelp
I am never disappointed by this place. Every single thing I've tried on their menu is amazing. Their secret gem is the burrito vegetariano. I eat meat, but sometimes I opt for the vegetarian burrito just because it's so delicious. Tonight I got the carne asada super burrito and it was perfection. Love this restaurant!

A A.

Yelp
Great place and friendly service. I enjoyed a sea food molcajete and I was not able to finish it. It is highly recommended for two people.

Yelp
I saw on article on the news about this place and how it's business has been popping since it was featured on Diners, Drive In's, and Drives. The episode aired last month (December) and it was nice to see Guy Fieri to feature a place from his hometown. The two items that he featured was the molcajete and the pastor tacos. My BF and I were excited to try this place and we came during lunch time on a Saturday (around 12:30) and it was packed. We decided to get some tacos to go since there wasn't a place to dine in. My BF got 3 pastor tacos and I got a pastor and asada taco. We also got horchatas. We both loved the flavor of the pastor and liked everything that was included on the tacos which were salsa, onions and cilantro. The color of the pastor was a little off to me since it was pretty red (it actually reminded me of Chinese bbq pork) and I remembered on the Triple D episode that they add red food coloring to the marinade. The tacos and the tortillas are homemade and they were also good. My BF wished that they doubled the tortillas for the tacos since they kinda fell apart when he was trying to eat them. Since we didn't get to try the molcajete since it was packed we decided to go back the next day. On the weekends they open at 7AM and we decided since it was a Sunday to come around 10:45 to order some real food in hopes that the place wasn't crowded. When we arrived there were people there but it was packed and there were booths available to sit. When we got to the cashier and ordered he said that they don't serving real food until noon and that they were only serving beef tacos and soup at the moment. We didn't want to sit around and wait so we left. I thought it was kind of weird to start serving real food until noon, especially since they don't offer any breakfast items. Another things I noticed was the increase of prices compared to what it's on Yelp. My assumption is that after they were featured on TV they decided to up the prices, which kind of sucks. Overall the flavors of the food are great and it's awesome that they're getting more business but I was disappointed in their business choice on their menu and the fact that real food isn't served until noon when most place start thinking about lunch around 10:30-11. I might come back in a couple months this when the crowd will hopefully die down.
