Very tasty authentic Mexican restaurant and prices are good. Staff is nice and restaurant is small but cozy.

Our server was very accommodating as we have picky 10 year old eaters. This place has the best Margarita I've ever had. Just the right amount of alcohol. The guacamole and chips were delicious. Chips were warm, guac was made fresh. They weren't busy, we were the only taken table of 4. The other bar/restaurant next door is the same owner. Our food took a while to come out, but it was SO SO WORTH IT! BEST BIRIIA EVER. The shrimps were a very good size for the quesodilla. Be aware...the enchiladas in the green sauce were level 4 spicy (on a scale of 1-5). The Biriia tacos about level 2. But all was so DELICIOUS. it was addictive.

My son and I stopped here for a late lunch, just happened to be in the area. I must say lucky for us because this was a treat for sure. We started with a Tamale and I must say it was the best one I have had that I can remember, not just the taste, but also the shape and presentation, cooked perfectly, I would go back just for it alone. It didn't stop there, then I had the Al Pastor Tacos, hand made tortillas, very flavorful meat, good hot sauce on the table 😋 at first it seemed small portion but the quality and amount of filling more then made up for it. I was more then satisfied! My son had the Tostadas and ate every bit. Also had Horchata to drink and it excellent, I do wish it was a bigger glass but thats probably because I liked it so much. The atmosphere was great, very nice decor for a traditional Mexican restaurant, everything done with care, very clean. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes, next time I won't skip Dessert 😋 I definitely recommend coming here! Enjoy 😁

Greeting from chicago ! Discovered this joint with my sister as we were heading towards New York, quick spot to eat outside with the weather being nice. Food was honestly good. I would only complain about the prices as I’ve eaten cheaper Mexican food that taste better (no offense). Overall good work 👍

We tried here yesterday. It is authentic mexican food. We enjoyed everything we ordered. Quesodillas are great. They have extra cheese layers, which make it very delicious. We also tried the fried tacos. All the toppings are fresh. They also make fresh tortilla here. That is why everything was great! The indoor was a bit hot. They need to do better with their AC systems.

This was our first time here as local residents. Somewhat a rustic style is mixed with traditional Mexican style to design the space which was OK. In terms of service, it is not a full service restaurant. You order at the register and they bring the food to your table. We ordered a nachos platter and street tacos. Overall the food was OK. The ingredients in the food were a lot which I would prefer fewer ingredients and lower price. I found the tacos delicious but salty. Nachos were good but chips compare to the ingredients were not enough. And the chips were soft the moment the plate arrived to the table. In general they got soften as they stay under warm ingredients but ours were already soft from the first moment. I told my opinions to the employees and hoping that the management will try to improve it. This will not be our last visit. I will give it another shot and then decide whether to return or recommend it to others.

Very tasty Mexican joint with a wide variety of delicious plates. I've enjoyed everything I've tried here, but the 'Machete' quesadilla is the standout. Bring a friend to help you eat it, it's literally the size of a machete!

I’ve been here on multiple occasions and the food is always delicious and fresh. It’s so good, I would compare it to my grandmother’s cooking. The gentleman who’s typically the waiter is very nice and recommends the best dishes. The staff in general is very welcoming. I read through the reviews and have this to say: if you don’t understand true Mexican cuisine, culture and ambience, go to this restaurant and find out for yourself. It’s an experience, it’s something Rutherford needed, and it will be my new favorite spot. Taste is subjective but it’s clear some people don’t understand the hard work and effort that goes behind making this place possible. Keep up the good work Nacho Libre team! You gained a loyal customer.

I have only tried the tacos here to go and I recommend to give this place a try if you're local. They are authentic and I think they make fresh tortilla's. The red salsa they give with the taco can be spicy so use accordingly. On taco tuesday they have a $3 per taco deal and so you can order mix and match as they are per taco order. There is street parking available. It's cute and small inside and there is backyard space for when it nice out.

After a few visits I gotta say I love this place. Everything I've had here I have truly enjoyed. Tacos are fully loaded, burrito bowl had a slew of flavors, textures and temperature. Lamb batbacoa burrito was a masterpiece. Tough to finish but I'm no quitter. The decor is beautiful. Every square inch is painted in bright, cheerful colors. The walls are adorned with Mexican wrestlers and the required skulls. The staff are all friendly and attentive. Bonus- it's a BYO. Perfect date night spot or pre-show at The Williams Center- walk out the back door and you're there.

The tacos at this place are to die for - real authentic Mexican food. This place is same owner as Sonoma up the block from this spot. Similar service and delicious food. These guys have a great theme going - delicious food and great service. They make you feel like you're home. The decor is excellent and there are so many memorabilia. I love coming here. Keep up the great work guys.

An absolute gem in Rutherford! The food is authentic! Their birria tacos are my favorite. Service can occasionally be slow but worth the wait in my opinion. Decor is fun and vibrant, and consistent throughout.

As we continue our food adventures, we made it to Nacho Libre in Rutherford. Parking is rough. We ordered take out and my wife dropped me off and I ran in to pick it up while she drove around the block a few times. Inside was very casual. You can eat there as well and it looked like they had an outdoor patio in the back. Very cool, laid back vibes. Service was on point and everything was ready when I got there. I got the short rib burrito which was out of this world. The meat was very tender and excellently seasoned. Could've used a little more sour cream/ guac or salsa in there to kick it up a notch but very solid. My son got the Pollo al Chipotle and the chicken was very tender and he said it wasn't spicy. Chicken was cooked on the bone and came with rice and beans. We also got a side of chips and guac. They just need to give you a little more of that guac. It was good but you're left with a half a bag of chips and nothing to dip them with. The chips themselves did have a little punch to them as well which I loved. Definitely worth a shot if you're looking to change it up in my opinion.

Amazing tacos de carnitas. That's pull pork tacos. Also, the hot sauces are very tasty and not too hot. I felt in love with this place. I will be going back many more times.

I've been to this place many times, and Andrés always provides excellent service. He's very attentive, friendly, and professional. The food is delicious and everything is always fresh. Perfect spot to go with family or friends! 100% recommend this place!

First time here and my friend and I both enjoyed our lunch - sopes and burrito bowl. And loved the luchador decor. Will definitely come again!

First time here and we came back a few days later! Authentic Mexican cuisine and great service. First time here we started with the chips and guac. We really enjoyed it, guac was so delicious and the chips had a nice seasoning to them. For my entree I had the birria tacos (which I forgot to take a picture of!) but they were so delicious I ordered it the second time we came. They were perfectly packed with seasoned birria meat, cheese, onion and cilantro alongside a cup on consume to dip. If you like melt in your mouth tacos with a bit of a kick these are a great choice! My son enjoyed his burrito he ordered it again the second time but they got his protein incorrect - no problem, though he still enjoyed it! I was worried the birria would be a bit too spicy for my spicy loving son anyway. The chicken nachos are loaded with toppings (YUM!). If there's anything that could've been better about them, it'd be adding a bit more chips to balance out the leftover toppings after all the chips were eaten. The horchata is great, tastes like a dessert to me every time - so delicious! The churros were also delicious, they had some dulce de leche creme inside and came with a dipping sauce that paired nicely with it. The ambience is relaxed with lots of Mexican decor and luchadores (it is called nacho libre like the movie lol). It's paid for (meter) street parking mainly, but not too bad during the weeknights. Overall, service was great, food was delicious, and this is definitely a spot that'll be on my go to list if I'm craving authentic Mexican cuisine.

New spot in downtown Rutherford. Great addition. Came for an early dinner on Friday night. Downtown Rutherford is nice and active around this time. I decided to sit outside. You go in and order your food, pay, and get a number while you wait for the food to be made. I had to get birria tacos (short rib... you can also choose lamb). They bring you the consome of course and also red and green salsa. Salsas were great flavor and kick was there too. Loved the flavor of the meat. Tortilla was perfect thickness and had a slight crispy to it. Maybe only complaint, wish i got my radish - I love adding that to my tacos. Service was quick and friendly. I'll definitely be back to try the lamb next time.

We stopped by for lunch and were happy we did. The atmosphere is so laid back, colorful, fun and homey. The service was welcoming and attentive. But the food. Delicious and what you expect for street style Mexican food. Our table stated with the guacamole and chips, a must. We ordered the Carne Assada Burrito, tacos, Birria Tostadas and the Elote. All fantastic and fresh. And BYOB. I highly recommend.

Food was absolutely delicious, well priced, and quick service. My business colleague and I both tried the birria burrito and it was absolutely delicious. Nothing about it I would change whatsoever. You are coming here for simple Mexican street food, done well. You will not be disappointed.

I love it here! Fresh, authentic Mexican food at a great price! The decor is very festive with a touch of Mexico. The seating can become tight when it's crowded, and it's street parking only. There are three sauces, but the green sauce is the best! Tons of options, and staff is friendly. This is my new to go Mexican spot.

If you haven't tried Taqueria NACHO LIBRE yet, this is an amazing (fairly newer) Taqueria that serves Mexican food. I don't understand why this place isn't totally packed every time I go in there. This is the most authentic Mexican food that I've had around here. (Although I do love El Azteca quite a bit). It feels like everything here is made with a lot of love, which gives each dish a lot of flavor. I always get the burrito bowls. One of those dishes is Al Pastor Pork and the other one is with steak. The little guy is eating Carnitas Tostadas. And it's pretty affordable TOO, $13 for most of these dishes here, and you can bring your own beer or spiked seltzer. The place looks super cute with their theme of Mexican wrestlers all over the restaurant. I think they need to advertise a little bit more on social media, or something, because this seems like the type of place that out-of-towners would come to just to try their delicious food. (I couldn't even find their location to tag on Facebook, so I just created a location for them.....Lol).

Nice ambience featuring Noche Libre. Good table service . Guacamole was good but a little salty. Disappointed in the steak fajitas. Tacos not good and steak was poor quality. Street parking . Good soda picks.

PROS: The staff was very nice and the place was clean. prices and menu variety was good while it came out in a timely matter. The food also tasted great CONS: The place has folding chairs and foldable card tables only which gave it a cheap feel (as shown in my pics) and parking is scarce cause its street parking. OVERALL: If you're a fan of mexican food this is the place to come to. However, if you need a lot of leg room when sitting this might not be a go-to place for you

This was my second time at NL since they recently opened up, and I heard from a friend that the tortillas/tacos were really good, so I decided to give them a try. The restaurant is small with not many seats. You feel like you're eating at your families house with Mexican music as the soundtrack. I ordered the al pastor tacos, my mom ordered barbacoa (not pictured) my sis wasn't all that hungry so she said she would order to go after I got my food. First thing, don't come here if you're starving. This is a mom & pop restaurant, authentic! They have 1 abuela making FRESH tortillas and a gentleman cooking up everything else. It takes time, but it's worth the wait. The tortillas are in fact delicious! I went to Mexico 3x last year and they are definitely comparable. The al pastor was perfect with a touch of spicy as an aftertaste. My mom really liked her tacos as well, and was excited to come back to try other items. My 3 tacos weren't enough haha I decided to order some steak tacos and guacamole to go. Wise choice. Once we got home my sister ate her food, the chorizo was a little more spicy then she would have liked. I thought they were fine, nice cumin taste and a kick of spicy. My steak tacos were delicious too,I shared with my mom who agreed. Was the $5 tiny guacamole worth it? Probably not, but I wanted it and it was a good combo with the steak. Overall I will definitely be a return customer as long as the quality stays the same. Nice to finally have authentic Mexican in Rutherford.

This was an unassuming spot with some good Mexican food. Affordable and tasty. You order and pay ahead at the counter, but they will bring your food out to the table. The nachos were yummy, as were the enchiladas and tacos. We also got flan for dessert, which was good. It's BYOB, so we got Coronas at the liquor store down the road. All in all a good experience

Best Mexican around I quite literally cannot stop getting the shredded pork quesadillas I'm not kidding when I say I may be addicted.

Delicious food - Highly recommend the chicken quesadillas and guacamole. Nachos were piled high with all kinds of toppings and were fantastic. From the sauces to the lemonade, everything was really fresh! The dining area was super cute - bright colors and cool vintage tables. Everyone working there was really nice & they even gave us an order of fresh churros for dessert before we left We'll definitely be back to try the breakfast!

Cute little restaurant where you can eat outside. We were on our way to another Mexican restaurant when we decided to eat here. We were happy we did. Food was good but the best part was their churros with cajetas, so good! We had chicken tostadas, steak quesadillas, enchiladas and huaraches. Everything was very delicious. Just keep in mind the quesadilla is not the typical American quesadilla but we thought it was very good. They have a lot of vegetarian options. The service was friendly and quick the day we were there. We will be back.

Shrimp tacos are great. Be even better if they had an option for flour tortillas as we hate corn. Avoid the fish tacos. Too dry.

I found this place online today. I work local and never knew it was here. We stopped for takeout. The red & green sauces were really good. My gf ordered the birria tacos. She said they were ok. I ordered the steak quesadilla, which was disappointing. The meat was under-seasoned and the cheese type was not what I expected. I also didn't like the way it was grilled. It reminded me of something you would get at Chili's. Not the worst quesadilla but far from the best.

I'll start with the Positives: the place is friendly and looks clean. However the Negatives outweigh those tenfold: My Son ordered Chicken Quesadillas. He tried to eat one but was literally choking on the disgusting cheese on it. It's like a Mozzarella substitute, mixed with Elmers Glue. I tried a piece and it was like chewing gum. I couldn't swallow it yet the cook puts copious amounts of this vile white rubbery cheese on each one. I brought the plate back in and said "look! Look how much cheese. It's way way too much. Please make another plate with NO CHEESE AT ALL". They seemed embarrassed at the counter but the feisty older lady they have cooking them was visibly angry about it. They brought out another portion and guess what? Still way too much cheese! So their trick is: use loads of this imposter rubber cheese so they can skimp on the meat. The pictures below are of the first plate and the picture on the black plate is the leftovers at home proving my request of "NO cheese" was blatantly ignored. They also blast obnoxiously loud music that kept skipping. I mentioned it that the music was skipping and they didn't seem to understand. On top of ALL that my food (Vegetarian Bowl..bland and soggy) was mediocre at best and the guacamole was clearly bought last minute at ShopRite. Horrific and WAY overpriced. They won't last long. Mark my words. Blech

Best birria tacos I've had (and I've tried a lot) in the area. Extra points for having lamb as the meat of choice, but you can get beef instead if that's not your thing. I'd highly recommend the lamb version though. It's so good. We've also tried the burrito which was very good as well. Nicely seasoned and the chicken wasn't dry. Just FYI to the other parents with small children they didn't have any high chairs so it's a takeout place for us. The staff is friendly as well.

Best tacos I've had in New Jersey. The Al Pastor was juicy, well marinated, and had a nice little spice to it. The tortillas were freshly hand made and hot off the stove top. Loved the Luchador theme of the restaurant as well

The food was great! A lot of options. The vibes nice and chill. The waiter was accurate, quick, and check on us. Guac a little on the spicier side. Drinks were nice and cold.

We tried this place after attending Church Alive. The food was delicious! We had the huaraches and burritos. Sooooo good. We are looking forward to coming back to our favorite Mexican restaurant.

Amazing food and an overall great ambiance, I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion! The service is great and the decor is lively. An overall 10/10 experience! I would also recommend the AMAZING stake nachos. They have the perfect amount of spicy and savory flavors.

Tried this place on a whim. Was actually in the area to go to Playa Bowls right across the street. I checked the reviews on yelp and google and decided to give it a go based off those. Walked in, place smelled great. I was looking forward to some good Mexican food. However I can't really give it a full review since i only had the chicken nachos and a horchata. I'd say the rating is more like a 2.5 stars, but I'll be nice and round up. The chips, beans, peppers, and cheese were all fine. Where i have my issue was with the chicken. It was SUPER bland. Lacked flavor of any sort. I found myself moving the chicken to the side and just eating the chips and other toppings. While i was eating it i was saying to myself, "This is super MID".. nothing to write home about. As for the horchata it was a bit on the watery side. Still tasted good but watery. If you do decided to go here, my advice would be to steer clear of the chicken. Other than the food, the service was perfectly fine. My order was ready in a timely fashion and the staff was friendly. Safe to say i most likely won't be going back.
