Jersey City Heights Is a Regional Mexican Food Paradise | Eater NY

"A bodega that transformed itself into a taqueria, it still stocks groceries (cookies, flan, chorizos, eggs, and instant michelada mix — paper cup included). I loved the pork-and-cheese torta ($7.50): a long crusty roll slathered with crema and piled high with thin-sliced head cheese that was rubbery and garlicky, plus shredded cheese, avocado, lettuce, and onions. Even more striking were the entomatadas ($14): tortillas folded over twice and smothered in a simple fresh tomato sauce then squirted with crema; the sauce had a slight kick of green chiles and the tortillas had been lightly fried in lard, so the flavor felt both fresh and piggy. A choice of meats came on the side, but I found the entomatadas so good I barely needed them." - Robert Sietsema

Small family owned Restaurant that I stumbled upon. Didn’t know what to get as they have a few options. So I asked the lady what she recommended. She offered the tacos which I really enjoyed. You can tell everything was made fresh and made with care. She was very hospitable as if you were at their house and you were a guest. She greeted me checked up on me. Definitely recommend you coming here.

The food is very VERY delicious. The new owner changed it to be better than what it was, an old place that sold food with just chorizo. The only problem is the atmosphere. I was eating, when I bended over to the window and it moved, which scared me. One more problem is that there is a store next to it, but all of that out, 10/10, go try it out!

Great tasting food. All seemed homemade. We ordered an asada burrito, asada and a jam torta, and pork ribs in green salsa. The asada meat had great flavor, the tortas were made with beans, melted cheese as well as queso fresco, tomato, onion, lettuce and jalapeños. The pork ribs in salsa were not spicy at all and came with hand-made tortillas. We tried their flavored waters, jamaica and cucumber-lime. They were sweet, but could have been a little more concentrated for additional flavor. For dessert, we tried their strawberries in creme. The strawberries were very fresh, the creme was perfect and sweet, and it came with granola.
