The 24 Best Restaurants in Monterrey, Mexico | Eater

"This casual taqueria has two locations in Monterrey and a bustling outpost in Mexico City. Choose from three types of meat: trompo (pork marinated al pastor style with dried chiles and spices), beef (top sirloin sliced thin), and Northern Mexican chicharrón (crispy, juicy pork cheek). Order one of each, but don’t forget the specials, like the campechana, an extra-large flour tortilla filled with beef, pork from the trompo, cheese, avocado, cilantro, onions, and corn chips. Although beer will pair perfectly with anything, it’s worth trying the restaurant’s own Jamaica agua fresca with cinnamon and guava. [$-$$]" - Liliana López Sorzano

When the food is good, it is great but the problem is that the restaurant is very inconsistent. Inconsistency comes in the forms of portion size, quality of ingredients (especially chicharrón), flavour, and service. Unfortunately, the inconsistency has gotten worse with each visit over the last year or two. When they are on point, the norteña is pretty good but I've grown tired of hoping for the best.

Authentic tacos made to perfection at this simple and wonderful open air place. The meat is cooked to perfection and the tacos are simple and delicious. Enjoyed every last bit. Will definitely be back for more Taqueria Orinoco!

Chicharron and Trompo are the best. The carne tacos was not that good . I prefer a little bit more Taqueria Orinoco at Mexico City.

Food is edible but really bland. It lacks flavor. The chicharrón is really the best tasting item on the menu. The staff and service however is horrible. We came at 12:30 when they open, they told us come back at 1, we did. They told us come back at 1:30. We came back around 2 and finally they were open. They didn’t greet us, super rude and we wouldn’t waste time coming back here again.

Excellent Tacos, the best I had in the last year's. Great attention and service too. Highly recommend.

By far one of the best quality tacos you can find, great choice of ingredients for it and the salsas, but it's not cheap compared to others. Also the inside of the restaurant is really clean and well arranged

Tacos Orinocos is quite simply the best thing I've ever eaten in my life. Every time I eat the tacos here (and that's pretty often) I feel like I'm having an out of body experience. The chicarron is to die for. Literally, it will clog my arteries and I will die happy. All their salsa is amazing. Love the papas, and the jamaica is something I write to my mom about. There will be a number of things I'll miss if I leave Monterrey, but this is the thing I'll have dreams about. I feel incredibly fortunate that my favorite food on the planet is just down the street.

Delicious. Large portions (food in pic half gone). Super friendly staff. Love all the salsa options.
