The 14 Best Restaurants In Cabo San Lucas & San Jose Del Cabo

"For a standout seafood-heavy lunch, try Taqueria Rossy, a casual spot that’s been run by the same family for 25 years. Taqueria Rossy, with its half a dozen tables and blue and white checkered tablecloths, isn’t the type of place you go for the view or the décor, but the food is good enough that you’ll probably want to visit twice during your trip. The chocolate clams (named that for their shell color) for which Baja is known are one of the few things that are mandatory to try while you’re there. So are the gobernadores tacos, the essential Baja taco that feature shrimp wrapped in a warm flour tortilla with lettuce and a dash of melted cheese." - nili blanck

Google
Plenty of food, plenty of options, all kinds of seafood to choose from, I do recommend this place if you are craving some Mex style seafood, just do not expect super highly elaborated dishes because there are none, but still a good option.

Google
Tacos were not that great. Corn tortilla did not hold together, overall not as tasty as other taco places we tried in San Jose.

Want authentic good eats and not break the bank? Go where the locals go, off the main tourist area. They have air conditioning which made it better to enjoy our lunch. We had the tacos; smoked marlin, marlon quesadilla, Flank Steak & Cheese, grilled shrimp, 2 beers. It was delicious! Their salsa bar was good too. Waiter and place clean as expected from local owned. We walked lunchtime here from Plaza Mirares and we felt safe, locals were nice, friendly strays dogs. Accepts USD and credit card. BUT if paying USD their conversion is bad, pay by pesos or credit card by peso price. Overall it still fine. Visited 9-30-24. Weather was good, low 80s F, 70% humidity. Included menu for you ✌️

Google
Great classic fish and shrimp tacos. The scallop taco and marlin are also flavorful options. There’s a big salad bar where you can add salsas, tomatoes, and other toppings to spice them up.

Google
Review for to go order to take back to our hotel for a late lunch. When I stepped in was asked to wear a mask, so note at this time need a mask to eat here. Ordered 2 two steak, 2 marinated meat (both meat tacos on corn tortillas) and 3 smoked marlin tacos on flour tortillas per waiter’s suggestion. Smocked marlin tacos were amazing. Beef ones were okay but the corn tortillas were not great ( maybe because they were not super warm since the order was to go. Came with three different salsas, crème sauce, cut limes & cucumber. Total bill was around $16. Great value. Better than any taco we ate at the Viceroy Hotel!

Google
Decent shrimp/fish tacos with a large sauce bar area. I wish I had ordered a non-fried option as I imagine the grilled fish is very fresh. Only reason this location did not get 5 stars is that a large American family came in after us and they seemed to receive priority attention from all the staff.

Karen T.

Google
Definitely off the beaten track but the food was great. The salad and salsa bar really make the tacos pop. The half orders of ceviche were filled to the brim with great seafood. The campechana had a mix of octopus, shrimp, scallops - so good. 2 half orders of ceviche, 2 tacos, 2 bottle waters were $25 USD

Google
We visited this taqueria twice for lunch during our Cabo visit. My favorite tacos are the smoked marlin, queso marlin, scallop. The marlin is unique to this tacqueria and I loved it so much that I got it again on my second visit. Highly recommend coming here if you like seafood tacos and want to try marlin tacos.

Yelp
We stopped on the way to the airport back to the states. Ordering to go was easy. It's interesting how they packed liquid-y items like guac and salsa in little plastic bags, I guess it's common here. I believe I had octopus taco and fish taco. The fish taco was forgettable but the octopus taco had crazy ton of octopus pieces, like they were falling off the taco as I took bites. Octopus pieces were soft and it was nice to get some octopus in because you don't encounter octopus this much in the US. The tacos were quite filling.

Yelp
Always great food. Will be noisy, either the hiway or the perpetual local crowds. Parking is always liimited, but the food makes it worth the while to visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent seafood tacos at a local joint. The prices are the best that I have found in the region. I wish Los Cabos had more places like this, as many have disappeared.

Yelp
Believe the reviews. This local spot was delicious and worth the trip to. The prices are cheaper than any other place and their menu offered more taco options than I saw anywhere else! You will be more than satisfied coming out to eat here. We got seated fast and ordered the fried snapper and 4 tacos. Based off other reviews I decided on fried fish, buttered octopus, smoked marlin, and fried shrimp. There is a toppings and sauce bar in the middle of the restaurant to dress up your tacos. The shrimp in cabo is great so it never misses. The buttered octopus really was tender and surprisingly good so don't be scared to try it. However, the smoked marlin was the show stopper. After watching some locals catch marlin and cut it open at a beach nearby I had been wondering what it tasted like so I couldn't help myself when I saw smoked marlin tacos on the menu. It was sooo good that I wished I just got 4 marlin tacos instead. The fried snapper was great but the real secret was the garlic butter sauce. It originally didn't come with it so we had to ask for it but it immediately upped the dish by ten! I don't think I'll ever want fish and rice without hot garlic sauce again. MUST try.

Yelp
Asked our taxi driver where he goes to eat tacos- this is where. Apparently the president eats here too when he is in town. Great spot to get not so crazy Cabo priced food, the shrimp cheese tacos were amazing. Also the fried fish.
google avatar

Irene L.

Yelp
BEST TACOS EVER. Hands down, the best tacos I ever had! I really wish this was in the states and locally available. I was in Cabo with a few friends last year and we visited this place twice in the few days we were there. I ordered the fish, flank steak & cheese, buttered octopus, battered chicken tacos (and was able to try some of the other ones from my friends). All were so juicy, crispy, tender, flavorful.. ugh craving them now! Topped it off with a horchata to compliment all the tacos I inhaled. Also they had a sauce bar in the middle of the restaurant with many options!
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
2nd time back wasn't as good... The fried shrimp and fish was barely warm and full of grease and no crunch... it came out like 1m after ordering and clearly pre made and just meh. Had to drench with sides to be flavorful.
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
Best shrimp tacos around - make sure you use everything available at the toppings bar! Try to limón margarita with no salt - it's delicious. Great restaurant and really amazing staff!!

Yelp
Delicious tacos and micheladas. The tacos come without toppings but they have a salsa station with salsas, onions and more to add. Our favorites were the pulpos (octopus), fish and smoked marlin. Very reasonably priced too.

Mindy V.

Yelp
Best fish and shrimp tacos you can ask for. Wide selection of toppings and sauces too. Friendly staff!

frances t.

Yelp
I ate in this taqueria twice. The first time I ordered pescado Veracruz; it was really wonderful. It was full of stuffed olives, tomatoes, onions, peppers and capers. The fish was a generous portion of perfectly cooked sea bass. I went again, and ordered just a scallop cocktail. First of all, I was expecting cooked scallops. They were not. In addition, they were in a sauce that seemed to be made of tomato juice, a few slices of avocado, and some chopped onion. There were a huge number of scallops, but the cocktail was devoid of flavour. The service was good, the place is noisy, with the requisite big screen tv in place....what would you expect?
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food. Only thing not there were chops and salsa. Cold beer, great tacos. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
This was probably the worst taqueria we went to during five days in Cabo. Still good but not the best! It is, however, on the way to/from the airport, so it's got that going for it. I got Fish Taco ($23), Shrimp Taco ($35), Scallop Taco ($35) and Special Tostada ($70). The Scallop Taco was very unique -- I'd never seen tiny deep fried scallops before! They were pretty tasty. The Special Tostada had a generous heaping of shrimp, octopus, scallops and fish. Next time I'd probably just get the scallop taco and special tostada. There's a pretty cool buffet area where you can help yourself to slaw, avocado crema and salsa. I liked that you could take as much as you wanted and didn't have to ask for more like at most places.

Mellissia Y.

Yelp
This place has unreal good tacos. We had a variety of meats and they were all good. The star of the show was definitely the fried shrimp. We both wanted more of the shrimp but we were way to full. Definitely recommend, good pricing, a salsa bar in the middle of the restaurant, and good service. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Off the beaten tourist path but they are used to the tourist. Has a specific orange colored menu in English (blue in Spanish). Easy Uber ride to get here. A few blocks from the church square area. Sit anywhere and order your food. The drinks are served cold. Nice salsa and condiments bar. Would go here for lunch as opposed to dinner. We ordered the grilled lobster and grilled fish along with a variety of the tacos. A few beers to accompany. Very reasonably priced even taking into account round trip Uber ride.
google avatar

Keith N.

Yelp
Excellent Fish and Shrimp Tacos. We were able to put our own toppings on our soft tortillas from their taco bar. Great toppings with excellent cabbage slaw, cucumbers, guacamole onions etc. Very Good. Would stop back again when in the area. Keith

Yelp
No frills local spot that serves delicious seafood. The usual fare you would expect like ceviche, and Baja fish and shrimp taco at very reasonable prices. All are served plain and you are free to dress up your tacos however you like with all the toppings, salsa, and condiments provided. They also have lobster at 490 pesos which I will try the next time I'm back. Have a cerveza. Have a tequila. Enjoy yourself.

Brian W.

Yelp
A good taqueria with interesting menu items for both kids and adults. The prices were good and the food came at a good pace. They have a nice bar with pickles, salsas and other toppings. On the minus side, the traffic was a bit confusing in the area, and it was a little hard to find parking. Also, it's very busy from a traffic standpoint, so there's not much to see in the area.

Yelp
This place is seriously deserves more praise/attention! This was one of my favorite meals during my trip to Cabo and the cheapest too. We visited this place after seeing some Yelp reviews on our way back to the airport. Two words: fish. tacos. The fish is so fresh and the tortillas are also made fresh and so delicious. They have an exceptional topping cart with so many options (red cabbage/cole slaw, lettuce, onions, limes, salsas, etc...) and I decked my fish taco out in this. My friends also enjoyed the shrimp tacos, pastor tacos, and chicken tacos. You can't go wrong here, especially for the price. Four of us each got two tacos and we spent $13 USD.

Yelp
Taqueria Rossy is where I had my first memorable fish taco experience as a naive teenager. Back then, my idea of Mexican food was Baja Fresh and Taco Bell. On a family vacation to Los Cabos, we visited this locals spot. It was love at first bite and life-changing. Now on a visit some 15 years later, I made sure to make Taqueria Rossy our first stop from the airport. It was late afternoon and the restaurant was full of families enjoying their seafood. I ordered tacos of the fish, shrimp, and scallop varieties. The tacos are served on your choice of corn or flour tortilla and then you take the plate to the self-serve salsa bar for toppings. The tacos are still delicious and inexpensive. The scallop one was my favorite this time. I'm glad that Taqueria Rossy is still as popular as ever.

Yelp
AMAZING CULINARY EXPERIENCE! Hands down the best tacos especially if you're looking for seafood tacos. Literally some of the best shrimp/fish tacos I've ever had. The garlic shrimp plate is literally bomb-- so so so flavorful and the shrimp is actually JUMBO sized and served with rice that is definitely flavored with crack. SO GOOD! The tacos were amazing too. I tried the buttery octopus tacos -- SO buttery and the octopus was the perfect textures with just the right amount of chewiness and charr. The grilled shrimp and fish (fried) tacos were also very delicious and not overly oily. The tacos weren't overly artificially seasoned or flavored and tasted really fresh. They have a large plate of salsas and toppings to share for the tacos. AND to top it off, the prices are AMAZING! We literally stuffed ourselves and brought home left overs having spent ~$12 a person. The only con are the flies... but so worth it!!!

Yelp
We were looking for some yummy tacos and decided to try this spot. I ordered the fish tacos and ate them so fast I didn't take a picture. They were really good and they had a condiments section to load up on which was great! We were a party of 6 and so I did take a picture of my uncles half eaten plate. He tried the fish, shrimp, chicken and steak. The chicken taco was also very good and tender. The aguas frescas were really good. We tried the Jamaica, guava and lime and mint. All very good! We all agreed we would want to come back! We also had 3 kids with us ages 6, 9 and 13 and all of them ate all their food. They had the beef and chicken tacos.
google avatar

Yelp
Visited the Cabo location. Seated immediately. Friendly server. Ordered Beer and Jamaica which were served immediately. Cold and delicious. Some language issues but he gave us menu in English. Ordered clam on half shell. Fresh and delicious and plenty of clams. Served with lots of toppings and sauces. For lunch we ordered fish tacos and a marlin quesadilla. The server mixed up the order but it was fixed. The fish tacos were the best I've had in Mexico. The marlin quesadilla was a surprise. Smoked. Was told that's how marlin us prepared. Very tasty. Nice change from the norm here. Entire meal with tip was under $15. Try it. You will not be disappointed. Lots of items on menu.

Yelp
Awesome tacos and chill atmosphere! As part of a small hiking group, our guide took us here because he told us this was one of his favorite taco restaurants in all of Cabo .... and who were we to argue? The restaurant was no frills and there was nothing fancy about it, but when it came to the food, we were very impressed. Our guide encouraged us to order the Fish Ceviche Tostada to wet our pallets and it just blew us away. He was right when he told us we would want one for each of us as the ceviche was so fresh and there was plenty of it in the tostada. It might have been one of the best appetizers I had ever had in my life! I kid you not. That's how good this bad boy was. As for the tacos, I won't go into the detail of each one, but I ordered 4 and each was just as good as the previous. The great thing, and the one that stood out, was that Taqueria Rossy allowed customers to add their own ingredients on top of the protein/meat --- so we could add as much lettuce, pico de gallo, sauces, cole slaw (yes, cole slaw) and onions as we wanted! Overall, the restaurant was chill, packed with locals and tourists and, most importantly, the food was amazingly fresh!
google avatar

Maureen D.

Yelp
Local place with amazing fresh food for nothing. Had two tacos and one postada. The fish was amazing. The portions so large I could have had one thing.
google avatar

Danilo A.

Yelp
Came with very high expectations. Our server was polite but he must have had gone on break because we got another gentleman to help us. He was not very polite and seemed a little bothered by us asking for drinks or more tacos. When it was time to pay we used American currency and they gave us an exchange rate of 16 pesos to the dollar. Most places are 17-19. We had 5 tacos one water and an orchata for $12 dollars. Even though the food was good the service was not so much. Tons of flies in the restaurant was also a big turn off. Maybe I went on a bad day.
google avatar

Vicki C.

Yelp
If I were you I would wonder how a taco shack without much ambiance earned all 5 stars. They make the best tacos that I have eaten in San Jose or the nearby Cabo San Lucas. I consider this a destination in itself and a mandatory stop for anyone near Los Cabos. Taquería Rossy stands out for several reasons. It gets busy here and the courteous servers competently work the air-conditioned dining room. They serve many varieties of soda, horchata and beer, have competitive prices and even television. The real hero here is the food, I have enjoyed all of the meals that I have eaten. I especially love the scallop tacos, they are served naked with access to the extensive salsa bar. Spicy salsas help turn on the heat, just the way I love to eat them. You can heat up your plate to your heart's content with several red and green varieties of salsa, crema, marinated jalapenos, cilantro and cabbage salads aplenty. Rossy is still a locals location, possibly because parking is tricky, or maybe because they are keeping it a secret. I would be selfish if I did not share my Yelp love for this hidden gem with you too. I will see you there!
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
Great food! Shrimp Tacos & a beer & a margarita & we were smiling big! Hungry after a long day of travel & this place was fast, easy & delicious!
google avatar

Zoan E.

Yelp
Mariscos, beef and fish tacos all amazingly tasty at Tacos Rossy. I will definable be back. Now that I found this tucked away gem, thanks to the car rental place--it will be one of my MUST DO when in Cabo!
google avatar

Emet D.

Yelp
This place will make you not want another regular taco EVER! This is what I've been looking for my whole trip! and NO.. the resorts or gringo restaurants by the beach with overpriced fried fish tacos can never compare to what the locals serve here. If you're in Cabo and leave without eating seafood tacos then I have no idea why you even came! Only rule...do NOT get it fried just don't. Tell them as they will assume foreigners like everything fried My reactions: Scallop tacos - mmmmmm the best bestest most best taco fo eva eva, eva eva, eva eva! I could eat this every meal every day! Sword fish taco - Wow yummy, actually not badd and damn biggest slab of fish I've had in a taco in my life! Grilled shrimp tacos - ahhhh fresh n classic Flank steak - woahhh so succulent & juicy why dont they serve this everywhere in the world! Their condament/salsa free self serve bar knocked it out of the park. Various salsas from mild, avocado salsa, to spicy. Unlimited coleslaw, jalapeno halves, onions and more. They also have habanero sauce on tables which are a must! You will be in love Seriously you must go here and try everything you can imagine that is seafood. Also their flank steak was really good too so if you still won't take my advice on the seafood, I promise you will still definitely walk out with a huge smile
google avatar

Cindy V.

Yelp
Too many Flies, since doors are always open & they go on the salad bar food was ok, I've had better.

Yelp
So, when we asked our surf instructor the best place to get tacos, tacos rossy was one of his picks! Only a few minutes south of la comer, the uber ride was worth it to stop in for a visit. This was not what I expected.... Part of me expected a taco stand and when we arrived at this little hole in the wall, I knew I was in for a treat. We ordered two tacos each, my husband one fish one grilled shrimp, me one grilled shrimp and one shredded beef, my son three quesadillas. We added a full order of shrimp ceviche, a beer, soda, and bottled water the complete our $25 usd meal, this was a bargain to be sure! Although the tacos were good, the real star of the meal was the shrimp ceviche... It was the best I have had, I thought I had gone to ceviche heaven. If you are visiting and are craving the best ceviche, stop by taqueria rossy and pick up some ceviche, you wpbt be sorry!
google avatar

Michael T.

Yelp
Astonishingly great fish entrées, particularly the marlin quesadilla, which tasted like sushi! Also had grilled fish, grilled shrimp, fried shrimp and shredded beef tacos. All spectacular! Maybe it was the Piña Colada or those margaritas. So four tacos, two quesadillas, two Piña Coladas and two margaritas for less than $30. Now that's what I call lunch!
google avatar

Bob E.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years and always eat at least one meal at Taqueria Rossy. Everything is excellent and fresh. My favorite is the smoked marlin taco. Ceviche is excellent too. Tacos are served naked and there are 5 picante sauces on the table AND a full condiment bar. Any kind of beverage is available. The prices are extremely reasonable. You won't find a better meal anywhere. Give it a try.
google avatar

Carrie Lynn S.

Yelp
We enjoyed the service and the food. Try the tostadas, they were amazing. Found the fish a bit dry - we realized after that mayo is an essential part of fish tacos so that's on us. Liked the octopus taco best. My kids loved their lemonade and horchata. Condiments bar is a nice touch. Busy place, but line moves fast.
google avatar

Jackie V.

Yelp
Its our 2nd time in San Jose del Cabo and the 1st place we went to was Taqueria Rossy. This time we brought the kids. The food was amazing. We ordered fish in garlic sauce, arracherra plates, tacos and the best part was that they accommodated my vegan child and made him "the best pasta hes ever had" in his words. He loved it so much that he had to order another portion to eat later at the hotel. Also, they were very wheelchair friendly. We travel abroad with our daughter in a wheelchair and find that a lot of places are not very accesible. Taqueria Rossy has a very spacious dining room and it was easy to maneuver her chair around. We will definitely be back again and again. The food is delicious, reasonably priced and the staff is friendly.
google avatar

Ronda B.

Yelp
Unbelievable tacos, great piña colada's, amazing flan and very strong margaritas! I really like the marlin, grilled fish, shrimp, either fried or grilled, tacos.
google avatar

Monica F.

Yelp
Tacos Rossy is nothing fancy, but it has some bomb ass tacos! We stopped here after our private tour. Hubs got grilled chicken and also flank steak with cheese, and I got 2 grilled fish tacos, every thing was on point! Hubs liked the flank steak better than the grilled chicken. They have a salsa/condiment bar so you can load up the tacos however you see fit. Total bill, including what our tour guide ate plus drinks (I had a Pacifico light, they had soda) ... roughly $12 USD. Sweet!
google avatar

Uncle B.

Yelp
These were the best tacos we found during our 10 days in Baja! So good, affordable, close to the airport, and very unassuming! A must stop! Don't pay attention to the strip mall exterior.. and cross your fingers there is parking (only a few spots out front that are usually full).
google avatar

N. R.

Yelp
Love this place. The grilled flank steak is so delicious. It's a no frills taqueria that I would assume the locals frequent ...I hope to frequent it every time we visit San Jose Del Cabo as well. Tacos are served naked, you can help yourself to the toppings at the bar and variety of sauces on the table. We thoroughly enjoyed dining here and can't wait to come back. The price is right and more importantly, the tacos are killer.
google avatar

S F.

Yelp
These are the best tacos I have ever had in my life and I try to recreate them at home often. The fried shrimp tacos topped with mayo, diced tomatoes and a squeeze of lime. One of my favorite meals around the world. I love this place and love Cabo. Rossy
google avatar

L. Don S.

Yelp
We spent a week in San Jose del Cabo with the expectation we'd find amazing tacos. Tried a few and all were good but Rossy's was special. Tacos were great, chips and guacamole were great and beans/rice were solid. This will be our go to spot when we come back.
google avatar

Tiffany H.

Yelp
The tacos were really good (simple and flavorful). We had way too many and was way too hungry to take pictures but these are definitely tacos you don't want to miss. 15 tacos for $30 (including tip) isn't a bad deal, ever. There is parking right in front of the location. But, be warned, they don't accept Amex (which isn't surprising). Overall, worth the drive off the beaten path!
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
Tried the fish, shrimp and cheese, and steak and cheese and must say the addition of cheese to the tacos was my favorite. Super quick service and condiments bar for add ons to your food is a nice touch.
google avatar

Francisco A.

Yelp
We had the Carne asada tacos, they were so delicious.... It was a very casual and fun atmosphere.. We ordered the quesadilla, chicken tacos, shrimp and cheese and steak and cheese... just delicious all of it...
google avatar

Allison H.

Yelp
Our Uber driver recommended this place and said this is where he takes his family. This was great food, and great atmosphere!!
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
The food is excellent. The taco and the taco bar are the way to go. The servers is fast but if they are busy some things get forgotten. No big deal just order again. The food is worth it. They speak enough English if you don't speak Spanish. The place is pretty big and very clean. It was busy when we arrived but people went through fast.
google avatar

The S.

Yelp
When we walked in and realized we were the only gringos in the restaurant for a Sunday lunch, we figured we were in for a good meal and we were right. Solid fish tacos. Good smoked marlin tacos (with and without cheese, but go for the cheese). Great shrimp tacos! And the buttery octopus was great! The do-it-yourself salsa bar was fine. Overall, we had a delicious meal of like 9 tacos (and a paleta) for less than $20. If we're back in SJDC, we'd definitely return here.
