The 25 Best Places To Eat & Drink In Hong Kong

"When you’re in the mood for highly specific chicken parts, Yardbird is the move. But actually, this yakitori spot works for almost any casual eating occasion - as long as you’re not in a rush. They don’t take reservations here, and even after being open for years, it’s still insanely popular, so there will be a wait. But once you’re in the door, you can have all the chicken hearts, livers, and gizzards you like (and more common cuts too)." - jess basser sanders

We were greeted with friendly staff and loved the classic margaritas. We ate 7 of the tacos on our first visit (and we'd do it again 😂) - all were splendid! Hard to say which one we liked most because they're all jam-packed with fresh, gorgeous flavors. We didn't take loads of pics because we were straight into it but if you feel like some excellent authentic Mexican food, this is it! Highly recommend!

I recently dined at a charming Mexican restaurant that truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality that set the tone for a delightful evening. The ambiance was vibrant and inviting, filled with lively decor that transported me straight to Mexico. The menu was extensive, showcasing a variety of authentic dishes that made it hard to choose. I decided to try the enchiladas and tacos, and I was blown away by the flavors. Each bite was a perfect balance of spices, freshness, and traditional recipes that clearly highlighted the chef’s passion for Mexican cuisine. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. What made my experience even more enjoyable was our waitress. She was not only friendly but also extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were spot on, and she took the time to ensure we were satisfied with our choices. Her attentive service added a personal touch that made us feel truly valued as customers. Also, she knows a bit of cantonese, friendly for local! Overall, this restaurant is a gem for anyone looking to enjoy delicious Mexican food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their enticing menu!

Love love love taqueria super macho! You really can’t go wrong with their classic margarita and guacamole. All the dishes are phenomenal (especially the poblano taco upgraded to a quesadilla) and they have quite a lot of options for vegetarians!

Authentic Mexican food from a chef that is from Mexico City. Order anything and you’ll be happy. The tacos reminded us of street tacos. They had a tamale special menu when we visited and I highly recommend that if it’s available.

Recently, I revisited Taqueria Super Macho during Black Sheep Restaurants' Back Series, and as always, the food was delicious, reasonably priced, and generously portioned. I had prepaid for five people, but two couldn't make it. I emailed ahead to inform them and requested two takeout portions instead. Impressively, they prepared the takeout just as we were finishing our meal—perfect timing. However, to our surprise, one of the appetizers was missing from the takeout. I emailed the restaurant again, and they responded immediately, arranging to deliver the missing tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole to my place the next day. To my delight, they also included a few crispy fish tacos, beers, and a bottle of water. I was genuinely surprised by their generosity and exceptional customer service. Kudos to Nina and Christian!

Came for taco Tuesday night, busy through out the night however they have a dining time limit. Taco tasted decent but after several different ones the sauce and taste was quite similar, the tortilla was a bit dried out as well. Would recommend the Nopal Con Queso. Overall prefer 11 westside more.

Yelp
I got a very happy and cheerful Mexican welcome at Taqueria Super Macho last evening. The Japanese style that I've gotten, usually at ramen places. Picture pastel vibrancy and happy Mexican music. The vibe of the place couldn't have been better. My jarrito loco was tequila, jalapeno liqueur and lots of citrus fruits. It hit the spot for me on the liquor. I had eaten small that day. On the taste - it was lopsided on the sour side, but that chilli spice mix the glass was lined with complemented the tang of the drink very well. As I got towards the end of the drink, I got that hint of sweetness. The tacos came with chopped onions & cilantro, lime wedges, a sour cream mayonnaise mix and salsa roja. The sweet server talked me into ordering the spicy habanero salsa. I rarely get talked into doing anything. The good part was that the salsas were great. The bad part was that the taco was tiny. TINY. My hand for reference. But, it delivered on the taste. And it's one of the better Mexican places in Hong Kong that I've tried, yet. That chilli roasted pumpkin was perfection on the taco. It was interesting how the servers asked if I knew how to "assemble" my taco and made sure they informed me to begin with the onions-cilantro mix and a squeeze of lime before diving into the salsas or sour cream. For my small order of a taco, followed by another (because it was that small), I'm sure I left them wondering on how on earth I polished up those salsas. Hey, I'm a spciy girl The taste buds were satiated, but I left hungry. Didn't do the quesadilla because if I took out the cheese and the cream, it would've been high and dry. Rice / beans catering to vegetarians would've been appreciated, if not more. Also, the Blacksheep Restaurants sure are hiring their people right. Their service is always proactively friendly. Even though I'm still waiting for their Maison Libanaise manager to get back to me, as promised. I had not one but two back to back sloppy orders of the cauliflower bowl with undercooked and hardly seasoned cauliflower! But, cheers to a small but good Mexican meal! Then onto some serious tête-à-tête with the hubster. Pictures on the blog - thevegetarianvoyager
