"This Mexican restaurant in Pilsen has a long menu (tortas, gorditas, enchiladas, huaraches, and more), which makes it easy to get sidetracked from what’s important: the tacos. Particularly the Taco Encarbonado, made with perfectly seasoned charred ribeye on a large handmade tortilla, along with grilled onions, jalapeno, and beans. It’s absolutely huge and qualifies as a complete meal in itself." - adrian kane, john ringor

"This Mexican restaurant in Pilsen has great tortas, gorditas, enchiladas, and huaraches, and almost everything on the menu costs less than $10. But what you really want to order here is the Taco Encarbonado. It’s made with perfectly seasoned charred ribeye on a large handmade tortilla, along with grilled onions, jalapeno, and beans. It’s $3.75, absolutely huge, and qualifies as a complete meal in itself. And it’s a lot more satisfying than eating an entire box of Lucky Charms for roughly the same price." - adrian kane

"After a fire closed their Pilsen restaurant last summer, Jarabe is now operating out of Dr. Murphy’s Food Hall. But you’ll still find wine and cream-colored heirloom corn lining the counter, which is used to make masa for their hand-pressed tortillas. The quesabirria tacos are rich, and their escabeche adds a brightly flavored crunch. Do yourself a favor and grab a few of their cochinita pibil tacos and a cucumber agua fresca while you’re here, too. You’ll be happy you did." - Jessica Rome

OMG this was the best tacos I’ve had in a while!! The meat was very tender and juicy!! I ordered taco de lengua and chicharrón but also got the quesadilla flor de calabaza it was sooo good! I definitely recommend this place! The food was the best quality. Loved the music and the atmosphere! Plus service was great the ladies there were so attentive and helpful!!

Authentic mexican cuisine with great service. Accepts cash and card. Paid and free parking.

Google
Worst taqueria ever. Bad service, dirty place all around since you entered. First time there and they give you some cold grease chips on the table we ordered 2 asada tacos $5.50 each and they were regular size not impressed. One quesadilla huitlacoche $6.95 “nothing to write home about” and we ask for more chips to eat with the salsa and they didn’t say anything but they charged us $3.75 for them. So final thought Never eat at this restaurant again! 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Google
Average tacos not so average prices little in the high end. I got the taco dinner portions are really small. Would've been better off ordering the sides separately, horchata is decent above average

Google
The worst burrito and huarache ever! If you can keep a restaurant serving food like this there’s definitely something strange going on how can you be proud to sell food like this, as an owner I’d be embarrassed we need better restaurants in the neighborhood. First and last time ordering from here (burrito was soggy huarache was tiny and dryer than the desert) and yes this is how the burrito was wen I picked it up flat and ugly

Mona bradford

Google
The Torta was flavorful. However the price they charge was a little much for a small sandwich I've had this sandwich at other places and they were not this small. I have a problem with restaurant that cut back to save money. The sauce that came with it was so watered down to point it was flavorless.

Richard Trostel

Google
Steak tacos were great, as well as the margaritas first and foremost. The server was attentive and very pleasant. Will definitely return.

Google
Food was very delicious it took a little long to get but it was definitely worth it knowing even the tortillas was freshly hand pressed 😋

Yelp
We wanted to try a New Mexican spot in the area and SO glad we chose Taqueria Tayahua! The inside is nice, more like a nice Mexican restaurant than a casual taqueria, but the prices are not too high. Definitely recommend the tacos and other dishes over the burrito. The burrito was probably our least favorite thing there (not much flavor stood out). They give complimentary chips and salsa and the red salsa is sooo good!! The green salsa was too spicy for us. Service was attentive, and again prices were reasonable for portion sizes. The tacos were pretty big.

Cleo G.

Yelp
Authentic tacos! Got takeout from here, but the restaurant does have seating and it's cute inside. It didn't take too long to get my tacos after ordering. I got 3 tacos, all with cilantro and onions, and here's my ranking. 1. Al Pastor: 10/10 - SO flavorful, slightly sweet, well spiced. The pork is so tender. Definitely a must. 2. Carne Asada: 8/10 - Pretty good! The meat was rich and fatty, but besides that, not much other flavor. The salsa verde the tacos came with was a good addition though, and had a nice kick. 3. Chicken: 6.5/10 - Not bad, just not great. The chicken isn't dry or anything, but adding your own salsa definitely carries the flavor.

Sid P.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food in a casual atmosphere. Friendly service, reasonable prices. Their red salsa is excellent if a little watery. We loved it. Recommended.

Keyva C.

Yelp
This was definitely a great spot. From the moment I walked up I could smell the food. I was on a quest to find good tacos in Chicago and this place delivered. The pastor taco was so good! Their green salsa is also fire like probably top 5 best I've ever had. Additionally, I orders chicken tacos, steak, and a combo taco with steak, grilled onions, beans, and jalapeños. The service was amazing. 10/10 cannot wait to go back!

Sherard C.

Yelp
On a busy street in little village, it doesn't get more authentic than this little restaurant serving up a full menu of Mexican favorites. Tayahua boxes with the best of them for street tacos in Chicago. The encarbanado taco, a fully loaded rib-eye taco with grilled onions and jalapeño was the star of the show as advertised. You do not want to skip on this too 40 taco to eat before you die according to thrillist. 6 tacos for about $30. Only knock is that the times of getting full off tacos for under $10 is so far gone!

Yelp
I recently came back to order and in the same week (shamelessly) went back. But I'm glad I did For take out (they were fast to take my order and decently quick for my order). I tried several tacos. I will say their tacos are still as good as the first time I went. In addition to the Asada, I had Al pastor, tacos encarbonados (you have to get two), all really great. I went back later in the week to dine in with a friend. She had a huarache sencillo and I had a burrito. Burritos are a good size and the sauce to pour on top is great. Staff is just as quick when you dine in as they are to take your order for take out.

Daniel R.

Yelp
I Stumbled upon this place looking for a fast last minute meal. I seen the reviews and got excited. Overall the pastor was good. I got the specialty taco encarbonado( shaved ribeye, grilled onions, jalapeños w/ beans on a tortilla).. nothing too special at all. Probably wish I opted for regular ASADA. Also, was given an avocado salsa(thick and not spicy). Being on the edge of Pilsen and border of little village they'd definitely have to step their game up. Pastor 6.6 Asada 6.2 Specialty taco 5.3 Salsa 5.8 Overall 5.9

Yelp
Funny note: There is a Taco Bell located across the street. The place doesn't look like much on the outside. Actually, it looks more like a tavern than a restaurant but the tacos from here are some of the best I've had in the City. Also, they recognized I wasn't a regular customer, so there were extra everything, like condiments, chips and salsa........Well, alot of salsa, but I was most surprised of the recognition of new patrons. So to say the staff was welcoming would be an understatement. The order wasn't ready when we arrived, although this isn't always a negative, the staff was very polite and patient. The wait was short and the food was fresh. I had the carne asada tacos. The meat was very tender and you can't go wrong with onions, cilantro and salsa.........Very authentic.....Very flavorful. Although this is quite a drive for tacos, the journey is worth it. See you soon.

Rickeyray B.

Yelp
The place has a nice atmosphere. Very comfortable and not noisy. I think the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The tacos (steak) were okay. I've had better and they only come with cilantro and onion. Might give them another try though. I'll order a Torta.

Carlitos G.

Yelp
I wish I could give it more stars because all the other experiences sounded great but I didn't get that stellar service. My friend and I decided to try this place out for dinner. We met here and were welcomed with a smile. We sat ourselves and then got our menus and our chips and salsas. We ordered drinks, a water and an horchata. By the time we got our drinks we had already finished the chips, and they didn't bring out the horchata until reminded that that is what I had ordered. My friend is a vegetarian so they had some questions about options, because there were many options for them. The server was great in answering the questions. When the food came out, it looked great, but both my plate (the pechuga plate) and their tacos were too salty. There weren't too many people when we went so we were confused as to why the server didn't check in on us after the food was delivered. We had to go up to pay for the bill after waiting for our serve to come back. I am intrigued by their tacos envenenados so might come back to try those out, but wanted to share this experience.

Yelp
Alright ya'll, the search for amazing tacos in Chicago ARE OVER. THIS PLACE IS FIRE. Preface: I'm from LA /SD and annoying about how authentic tacos taste. I have many favorites back in California but have yet to really find good ones in Chicago but wow this place is def in my Top 3 all time. Ambiance/service: Homey hole-in-the-wall feel that made eating my food warm my soul that much more. Service is great and everyone is so nice! Ronaldo who was great, was there to answer all our questions, order our food, and make our tacos. 1. Carne Asada Tacos - This is the first carne asada taco in Chicago I've had that are just the right amount of fat, meat tender with a slight crisp, and flavorful without being salty!! I'm a big salsa/sauce person and I didn't need any for this, just lime juice. Bomb - must try. 2. Al pastor Tacos - Wow so flavorful without being too salty, fatty, or too spicy. This one is a DEF TRY. 3. Lengua Tacos - If you like lengua, the meat is not gamey but is tender without being too chewy or fatty. 4. Taco Encarbonado (what they are known for) - I personally didn't like these as much. The flavor is great with the onion and thin layer of beans but I'd actually recommend the carne asada over these! 5. Pozole Verde - FIRE. Seriously. It was served piping hot which made me that much more satisfied. It was flavorful without being salty. The meat was tender and the hominy was perfectly cooked. Add some lime and the flavor was on point. I do wish it was a little spicy because a kick may have made it even better! 6. Homemade horchata - you can tell they made it themselves, it was sweet but with a distinct rice taste. Def try if you have a sweet tooth (even though I don't like sweet drinks I still enjoyed it very much). I would've liked more cinnamon but that's just a personal preference! Side note; I didn't feel heavy after eating this food. It was not overly oily or salty which made it sit in my stomach well. Conclusion: STOP BY. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Doesn't look like much when you drive by on the busy street of Western, but you HAVE to stop in. Truly some or the best tacos, rated by "thrillist" if you are a foodie by nature it's worth the drive over. Handmade tortillas made fresh to order, this clean, quaint, authentic spot is of no competition to any of its kind. It stands alone in its own category of deliciousness. Don't forget to try the Huitlacoche, deemed the "Mexican truffle" served as a delicacy in Mexico for thousands of years! Salud!

Esmeralda N.

Yelp
Hands down the best taco spot. Tacos are JUICY, 100% generous with the meat and salsa, never stingy and never skimpy. They have a variety of foods to choose from. Def recommended, hits different on a movie night or a 3 am kinda spot

Michael B.

Yelp
Had some late night tacos at this friendly spot. I had a skirt steak and a lomo taco. Fast, great flavors and reasonable prices. Cashier and cook were welcoming.

Matt P.

Yelp
This place is unreal. I've gotten the carne en su jugo almost every time. Such a unique dish and delish when most places only do pozole / menudo on weekends. Service is amazing and menu is creative. Such a hidden gem!!! Btw chef and servers are nice and TouchTunes is fun.

Genilda O.

Yelp
I am disappointed and dissatisfied with the menu pricing and the small print on the menus itself for the food at this restaurant. They cashier rang up a food it was the carne en su jugo it is listed on the menu for $12.50 and the cashier rang it up for $18.75. I asked the cashier to ask the owner to honor the menu price and she proceeded to show me some fine print. Buyer beware she gave me an excuse that they were redoing menus. Well today 5/26/2023. Let's see when that happens. Ask for pricing before you pay. The food is mediocre at best! FYI I have never left a bad review compelled to because. In this economy every penny spent counts. It's heartbreaking that this business is not informing there customers before they swipe of the menu that they have available having incorrect pricing!

Alexander W.

Yelp
¡Horchata excelente! ¡Tacos encarbonadas con cebollas y jalapeños asados: muy ricos! ¡Tacos al pastor: puerco rojo bien sazonado, carbonizado y caramelizado - unos de los mejores en Chicago! ( :

Andrew P.

Yelp
Solid taco spot wedged wedged between Pilsen and Little Village. We came here to grab some food before heading over to the Chitown outdoor drive in movie theater. We were trying to go inside a different place, but they were closed for some reason (even though their online hours stated they were online). This place did the job, although I did find it to be a bit pricey. I'm from California and I feel like it's so much easier to find cheaper tacos in general. I know with inflation, prices have risen lately, but to spend like $30+ not including the tip for 10 tacos seemed a bit excessive to me. I can find $1.50 tacos back home that are tastier and won't break the bank when you have a late night taco craving. As for the salsa... I did like their salsa, and there was a variety too that they gave us. For Chicago, I'd rate this place a solid 4/5 and I'd definitely come back. Still on the hunt to find a "go-to" Al pastor taco place. Someone tell me where that is!

Kas R.

Yelp
So so so good! I had a gordita and my partner had the tacos. We both had asada. Flavorful and the salsas were so delicious. The best quesadilla de flor de calabaza I've had in pilsen is from here. Forgot to take pictures unfortunately but i highly recommend

Lauren H.

Yelp
Delicious tacos. I hope to stop by another time and try something else on the menu or maybe dine in. We had chicken, steak and al pastor tacos. All were good but the chicken and al pastor were the best. The salsa verde is some of the best I've had. Thick and spicy so it doesn't make your taco shell fall apart. Easy street parking and good interaction with the staff for carry out. I'll definitely go there again when I'm in the area.

Sheri W.

Yelp
I have been to this restaurant many times. The food is delicious, plentiful, and fresh! My favorite thing to order is the Tacos Encarbonados. They are perfect! I am frequently here for lunch and the tacos are brimming with steak so much so that I'm not hungry for at least 5 hours after only having two tacos, no sides except the fresh, homemade chips and salsa. I this place! The waitresses are friendly and I always say hi to the owner.

Henry R.

Yelp
Staff were friendly and were quick to get our order put in, made sure we had our drinks. The food came out pretty quick and was authentic. Very delicious. Would recommend.

Robert B.

Yelp
I didn't hate this place, but was definitely not blown away either. Given the previous reviews, I had much higher expectations. We got a bunch of tacos (10) as well as a chile relleno burrito and a gordita. The tacos were...okay. As was the gordita. But pretty bland, other than the chorizo taco, which was pretty good. The chile relleno taco, and the burrito were terribly bland - no flavor and no spice, but plenty of grease. We actually threw away most of the burrito, it was that bad. The staff was friendly. The service was very, very slow - we ordered over the phone and were told 15 minutes. We arrived after 15 minutes and the food wasn't ready and it took another 15 minutes of us standing around and waiting. All that despite us being the only customers. Given the quality of other Mexican food in the area, also with better service, I do not plan to return to Tayahua. I'd advise you to look elsewhere.

David A.

Yelp
They don't even deserve one star. The food has gone consistently downhill and I will not ever go there again. Had tacos today... sucked. Rice and beans... sucked! I don't know what happened but...

Jose C.

Yelp
We came where for breakfast and unfortunately didn't leave impressed. They're customer service was fantastic, they were very welcoming and it felt like we had entered their home. I ordered my favorite Mexican breakfast dish, chilaquiles and they weren't that great. A very small portioning with a crap load of onions mixed in. Most rarely come with onions. It was indeed spicy but lacked any other flavor. I didn't come with egg either, most other places do. So I ordered them with over easy, not knowing they would charge me $2 for that side of egg. Nonetheless, it's obvious that I didn't have the same experience as others according to the reviews. I definitely won't be returning to order their chilaquiles. Perhaps I'll give them another try by ordering their tacos.

Jim B.

Yelp
I have been here a few times and those few times were great!!! Always delicious food and I can literally drink the green salsa, it's so good! Also, very nice people.

Josue T.

Yelp
They got some great food Definitely recommend this place Especially their Tacos Encarbonados It's my go to place when craving Mexican food

Nazneen K.

Yelp
I was here about 6 weeks ago. This place is A simple no fuss spot with great tacos and service! The vibe is chill and homey. We got the carnita, pollo and chorizo tacos - asked for extra spicy and they definitely delivered!! I would come back here for sure!

Stephen L.

Yelp
Family owned and operated for over 40 years. This place is next level. The Al pastor and tacos encarbonados are worth their weight in gold!!

Cherry D.

Yelp
Wow. Let me just get my review in before this place blows up. This is straight up one of the best taco places in the city - if not THE best taco joint in Chicago right now. As someone who comes from a long line of Mexicans I cannot get over how authentic and delicious the food is here! I got the Taco Encarbonado and Taco Al Pastor and both were cooked to perfection. El taco Encarbonado was PERFECTLY seasoned: I didn't have to add a single drop of sal or limon and it was accompanied perfectly by the salsa verde they had on the table. The Al pastor taco was juicy and crisp and between the two I walked out satisfied asl. The pozole was also amazing, not sure why that isn't mentioned more but it was full of flavor and the "small" is the perfect size for a pre-taco appetizer.

Laura L.

Yelp
Food is alright. No real issues food wise. On three separate occasions they messed up our order. Lengua instead of Lomo, carne en jugo instead of Pozole, and someone else's order. The last time was the order that was most concerning. My husband picked up our order and after a few minutes received a call from them stating they gave us the wrong order. He already already opened several items to check everything was there and literally touched several items with his fingers while trying to figure out what they had given us. I told the young lady that he touched several items. They told us to bring everything back anyway. When he dropped it off, he repeated again that he touched the steak from one of the plates and opened the taco tinfoil. She spoke very hush hush and brushed off that he touched someone else's food. Not to mention, we were responsible for their mistake without any attempt to apologize for the inconvenience because of their mistake.

Dane Y.

Yelp
As I was walking down Western Avenue in the early morning, I was trying to find something to eat that wasn't a typical fast food joint. Then I stumbled upon this taqueria and it was the perfect breakfast for me. As I walked in the hole in the wall, the staff was very welcoming and the cashier welcomed me over as she greeted me. I ended up ordering the $2.20 Carne Asada and $2.75 Al Pastor taco born with onions and cilantro. The tacos were the bomb. Its definitely a place to visit if you want to get your fix of tacos. It came with two tortillas, healthy serving of meat, onions, cilantro, and green salsa. Meat was perfectly cooked. Tortillas were perfectly cooked. The environment was very quiet and peaceful. Next time I want to try their Al Carbon/Char Broiled Rib Eye Taco. Prices are very reasonable, and it did not compensate for flavor. Location is a bit hard to find if you only ride public transit like me, but it's definitely worth the trip.

Cj W.

Yelp
Just a little local spot with good food. Tacos are delicious. Michelada was good. Def would recommend it.

Robyn C.

Yelp
Telenovelas playing on the screens, music playing up front, and lots of art make up the sweet and funky ambiance. Good tacos, burritos, and huaraches. alternatives for meat eaters as well as vegetarians. Very reasonable prices and prompt service. Additionally, they are open late, which is a plus. I endorse this location!

Elvin C.

Yelp
We're trekking from Rogers Park for the first time to visit after having been tipped off to Tayahua in Soo Park's "Chicago Food Crawls." Don't know why we hadn't found this in Yelp earlier. Tried a number of tacos (carne asada, al pastor, suadero, al carbon, lengua and tripitas) as well as their quesadilla with huitlacoche. No question, the quesadilla is up there among the tops. Tacos...I'd say carne asada is up there with a good mix of fat, moist, and flavor even though it is fine chopped. More mixed opinion on the other taco choices given our experiences on Rogers Park's Clark St. Good horchata and should return to explore rest of menu. Did note pozole and I think menudo on the weekends with a choice of sizes to go with your meal. Also they serve carne en su jugo. Next taco choices might be their higado, cecina and lomo. Reserving one star once we've found our taco favorites or other entree favs.

Seameka P.

Yelp
First yime I ordered food it was delicious... I decided to order again and this time I asked for a few adjustments. I was served hair! Not only that... do you see this presentation???? Why put that much sauce on enchiladas? Unless you purposely intended to add hair!!! Then when I called to tell them what happened the kady hung up in my face! Lol

JD C.

Yelp
Pros: - Carbonado tacos are the star!! Then their cecina. My favorite tacos in Chicago are the carbonado tacos here & the cecina from La Barca. They will both blow your mind - Meat is cooked really well. Moist and flavorful! - The cecina here is really good, too. Flavorful strips of meat - The carne asada is clean and moist. Not greasy - The grilled onions here are their signature! They add a lot of grilled onions in most their tacos, and they are SPECIAL. They REALLY add a lot of flavor and texture. The onions will blow you away - Their taco shells are definitely homemade, fresh, and taste more like corn than they do flour. I love their shells. They don't fall apart, either - Their salsa verse is actually spicy. I love it - They accept credit and cash - OPEN LATE!! Cons: - I guess if you're looking to dine in, it's small. But I don't care about that personally Conclusion: - Do yourself a favor and try this place for the carbonado, carne asada, and cecina + La Barca for cecina!

Yelp
Was craving Mexican on a Saturday night. Was sick of going to 18th street and wanted to venture out and found this place on Yelp. And wow, this place was awesome and cheap. They serve complimentary chips with red and green salsa. I usually love the green sauce/salsa but this place's green was a bit different. Enjoyed the red more here. The chips were perfectly crispy and crunchy. Tasted very fresh. Loved it. Got the taco dinner with two Carne Asada and the Al Pastor. The Al pastor taco here was the best al pastor taco I have had in all of Chicago. The meat was super tender and juicy and flavorful. I was floored how good it was. The carne asada was also very flavorful, juicy, tender, all you can ask for. Tasted very fresh despite it coming out very fast. The rice and beans with my tacos? I've had a lot better but I'm not going to complain when my meal was $8 and damn good. The service is lacking. The cleanliness is a bit lacking as well. But when you serve awesome tacos for a cheap price, I'm going to pretend I don't care about that stuff and give this place 5 stars. Wow. Try the Al Pastor, it was legit amazing. Still drooling and craving it as I write this review.

Nichole F.

Yelp
Chile Relleno!! The best I've had since moving to Chicago. Every time I try to venture out to try other restaurants same dish I feel the longing for Taqueria Tayahuas dish instead. I believe I know where the best is at and that's at this restaurant. My partner and I go here usually once a mouth. The beans are also the best with fabulous flavors of onion and garlic. I wish I could makes beans this good. Recipe please?! :p The rice is also amazing. Also I have had their savory tacos and when I use to drink I would enjoy some great margaritas. This is definitely a restaurant to try and keep trying. I don't think you would be disappointed.

Jose A. V.

Yelp
5 stars restaurant in Pilsen Neighborhood and the staff are very friendly never go wrong here

De'Anna W.

Yelp
Not bad. I'm a vegetarian (who doesn't like veggies lol) so I was looking for a good quesadilla with rice and beans and some horchata. The place is easy to find and has a designated parking lot which is nice because I can't parallel park to save my life. I ordered a mushroom quesadilla with rice and beans. The quesadilla was big and the food was served fast warm which is always a plus. The chips and salsa are complimentary and I don't do spicy well so in my opinion the green was too hot and the red had a kick but was bearable. The waitress was friendly and seemed to be working the place alone. The booths are old and pretty torn up, masked with tape to cover the holes but I wasn't there for a fancy seat. Overall, I felt like it was a decent lunch experience for $10.

Diane O.

Yelp
Great hidden gem in Pilsen right on Western Avenue. The carne asada tacos taste like they're straight from a taquero. They're my absolute favorite! Small taquero sized sized tacos but definitely worth it! I've also enjoyed a sope, gordita, and huarache from here...all just as delicious! Staff are sweet and friendly. There's about three tables in front and a few more in the back. Not the biggest place but I've never had to wait in order to be seated. Definitely a must try for a quick bite to eat this side of Pilsen.

Ayla P.

Yelp
Came here late night on a Google recommendation that a man missed his child's birth while eating here, and the food was the bomb. Try the Encarbonado taco recommended by The Thrillist, way worth it. Good food, good price, good service.

Brian S.

Yelp
Was looking for good tacos while in Little village area. Live downstate and miss good food. Came across this place on yelp and have back three times. Their al pastor taco is by far the best I have eaten. Moist and flavorful. Cant say people are super friendly (tried a couple times to chat - possibly there may be a bit of a language barrier as I have little in the spanish dictionary on the tip of my tongue) however the food is amazing and well worth the trip. I have had all of the types of tacos. All were great!

L L.

Yelp
Another favorite place of mine in Pilsen for awesome tacos! They do not charge extra for Lengua tacos which are $2.50 each. All tacos are the same price and their Al Pastor is fantastic. I need to try their platillos and Mariscos on my next trip. Service is friendly and free parking is available in the lot next door. They offer several varieties of bottled Mexican beer.

Anuj S.

Yelp
We had a decent delivery experience with Tayahua this past weekend. So the spicy red sauce enchiladas are REALLY spicy. That was a bit unexpected and we didn't end up finishing those. Interestingly, the spicy green sauce enchiladas weren't as spicy. I wonder if the green once would've been even better if we had ordered and eaten there. The chile relleno burrito was quite good. Yummy cheesy relleno filling. The burrito also still has beans and lettuce on other fillings. The quesadillas were OK. VERY oily. Also the tortillas they use had a very strong taste, which I would say over-powers the taste of the quesadillas.

Yelp
Prepare yourselves, yo. We're looking at a rave. This place is, point blank, the bees knees. What looks like a small taco shop from the outside is actually a sit down restaurant. Not the trendiest place to look at and definitely a little older. Was it a little grimy in the bathroom? Sure. Was the bar shoddily put together? Sure. Did I care? Not one bit. Actually, all of the above may have added to this places charm. But the location isn't what wooed me. Let's get straight to the tacos. We ordered the Taco EnCarbonado - which was essentially a spicy short rib taco. I got that one, my friend got the plain short rib because she can't take the heat. The short rib tacos were perfection - point blank. I got a carne asada taco as well and that was awesome as well. AND THE CHEESE YOU GUYS - IT WAS MELTED!!!! Which, yeah, not super traditional. But, super delicious. O. M. G. Guys.... do you know how hard it was to not give these tacos MORE than 5 stars? Which is a first, by the way, in the tour. WE MIGHT HAVE FOUND THE PERFECT TACOS. Would we recommend??? Um, have you been reading this at all. Yes, yes, a million times yes.

Yelp
I was passing through the area and I decided to look on Yelp to find a new Mexican place in the area (yeah I know there are tons, but I wanted a really good one haha). So I came across this place and decided to give it a shot. We walked in and were immediately greeted and told we could sit wherever we'd like. There are two sitting areas; one in the front by the register and another toward the back. Seeing as it was cold outside, we opted for the rear seating area to avoid the wind from opening the door. After sitting down the waitress immediately brought out chips, salsa, and water. We asked for a little time to decide what we wanted to try, and in the meantime devoured all of the chips haha. I ordered a huarache with red sauce to begin and chiles rellenos. Not long after ordering, the huarache was out. I had only tried it once before and this one looked a little different than what I had expected, but each place makes them a little different, right? Nevertheless I ate all of it and waited for the rest of the food to come out. Maybe 10-15 minutes later the rest of the food was out and it looked great. The Huachinango looked nice and crispy with a generous helping of garlic, and the chiles although a little tiny, also looked good! The tortillas were homemade and really good! At one point I started eating them by themselves haha. The chiles had a healthy portion of cheese in them, and the sauce added a nice flavor. The rice and beans were also good. The Huachinango did have a crispy outside like it looked, but something was missing. I just couldn't put my finger on it! Overall I had a positive experience, and I would give the place a solid 3.5, but considering how pleasant everyone was I bumped it up one star haha. I don't think I'd go out of my way to come here, but I would stop by again to try some other stuff.
