We are on a constant quest for good tacos and this place absolutely hit the spot. We tried several things on the menu (al pastor, sirloin black angus, gringas, volcanes & guac) and then ordered more! It was fun to step out of our NOLA routine. Service was excellent and my husband was thrilled to find real Mexico City-style tacos.

My wife and I have been coming here since the soft opening, and we keep coming back for more! The tacos al pastor are absolutely delicious and crafted with care, and honestly every taco and side we’ve tried has been outstanding. Their drinks are always fresh and refreshing, which makes the whole experience even better. The décor is spot-on for the location—fun, inviting, and full of personality. The Fanta Orange theme throughout makes you feel like you’ve stepped into the Disneyland of tacos, but the flavors stay true to authentic Mexican street tacos cooked on a trompo. The ambiance is perfect, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. One of the best parts? They’re open after midnight on weekends, which makes this a fantastic late-night stop. Whether it’s dinner or a midnight craving, this is the place you’ll want to come back to again and again. If you love tacos, you’ll love Taquerias Carnalito. 🌮 Highly recommend!

We stopped in for the grand opening excited to eat CDMX style tacos and, boy, they did not disappoint. This is the Mexican food that New Orleans needed and deserves. Carne on a spit with tons of flavor, we sampled most of the menu and everything was absolutely delicious. This place oozes authenticity—the culture and vibe was bright and alive. I especially loved the traditional CDMX taco stand style seating—it brought me back to one of my favorite places on earth, La ciudad de México. ¡Este gringo volverá una y otra vez!

The food was great, a little pricey for tacos but still really great for the area. I really like the al pastor taco ( pork with a piece of pineapple on top. The sweetness really elevates it) and the valcanes (on the Tostada with a bunch of cheese on top). The elote had a smoky flavor and i really like it. A little spicy. The only comment i would make is the seating area by the glass has a bunch of t-shirt over my head and the top of my head kept brushing against the shirt and im only 5'5.

The place is quite small but very fast paced service. I tried pretty much all the tacos, all tasted amazing. The price is what gave me to give it a 4 star because no 2 street tacos should cost $10.99 in my opinion. I didn't try their alcohol beverages but will be returning to try other stuff on the menu. I give the corn a 10, very spicy 🔥🥵. The scratch off is a very cool concept.

Love the ambience of the local, the food was really good! Tried the Orchata las aguas frescas and can say that it tasted just right! Definitely took Stefanies recommendations and tried the Volcanes of Sirloin it was really good! Had the tacos all 3 flavors and styles and was very content with the food! I definitely recommend you to try it all.

I stopped by today to try out something new and BOY DID THIS PLACE EXCEED MY EXPECTATIONS. Wow. I am thoroughly impressed by the staff and the cashier was amazingly sweet.. because it my first time there she recommended the best tacos and she did not lead us astray. This restaurant lives up to its name— These are the best tacos in New Orleans!!

I live in California so I thought I had seen a good Taqueria - well I realize I was wrong when I stopped by at Carnalito. The staff, the juicy taco, and a wide variety of legit and delicious 😋 salsas make everything in California look boring and shabby. I highly recommend checking them out.

LIFE CHANGING TACO !! Staff on point. Clean atmosphere. You will not find better street style tacos in nola even if you spent your entire life looking

This place is a new opening in my neighborhood, literally around the corner from my house, and when they were constructing it, everyone in the neighborhood was really excited to have a new restaurant option walking distance from our house. They went all out for their decor, everything is bright orange and new, they have a disco ball on the wall... Lol they play Spanish music throughout the restaurant, the issue with this place that myself, my husband and the neighbors that tried this place is that it is overpriced for what you get. Aside from the frozen margaritas which are delicious and strong and reasonable price wise, the tacos themselves are literally just meat and tortilla. And the tortilla is not even that big. You can get two chicken tacos for $7 and the other specialty meats are more expensive. But everyone that goes here says that the price is not worth and what it served. The staff are pleasant and nice, but the food portion is not worth the charge. I do like they they are open late so you can get a quick literal "bite" if you just want something quick and light on a late night run. The last time I went there with my husband, I had to ask for cilantro, onions, and pineapple slices on the tacos, which made all the difference!!! otherwise they will just give you meat and tortilla. On Tuesdays they have a 2 for 1 frozen margarita deal which is THE BEST!!! $8 for 2 frozens!!

This was an awful taco experience. The dishes did come out fast, but they were lacking in flavor. We ordered the chicken taco, el pastor, the completo and the volcano taco with margaritas and horchata. The el pastor was bland without sauce and the onions and cilantro were just thrown onto the plate and not garnished. The pineapple was not cut either. The chicken taco was also bland even with a green sauce. The worst was the completo. The fries were soggy because of the enchilada sauce and the black beans were salty. The elote was not great either. The saving grace was the volcano which has nice textures and some flavors with the additional of salsa. But for one volcano was $10. Insanity for the portion to price ratio. The margaritas were a mix of strawberry and mango which was way too sweet much like the horchata. High hopes turned into false dreams.

We shared 2 orders of the trompo Al pastor, 1 order f the trompo steak and an order of the elote. Unlike other reviews we read, we found the portions to be on par with street tacos we have had form other places. The tortillas were filled with meat, and the meat was delicious. There could have been more pineapple. The corn was good- We knew it was in a cup and not on the cob, so we expected it to be canned corn. The toppings gave it flavor and texture! Overall we enjoyed it and would go again.

Stylist interior and speedy service! There was a variety of salsas, which I enjoyed, but the price for what was offered is not worth it. Paying $6 for a singular street taco (one was $12!) is steep, so this is a good place to try once for the experience. It was pretty loud, so when taking our order it was wrong (but we definitely should've double checked and corrected, but decided to try whatever was made instead!) The quality was okay but you'd have a better deal going somewhere else for $1 tacos on taco Tuesday. The churros were also undercooked, but the sauce it came with was pretty good. I'd go back for the elote and margarita!

Tacos are delicious and the salsas are definitely authentic and spicy. However, the tortillas weren't as fresh as we expected, and the prices are a little high--this coming from from a San Diego native where Mexican food is synonymous with the culture and taco portions match the prices you pay. The highlights were the elote (husband says best he's ever had) and the jug of mango margarita: sweet but very strong--like sneaks up on you! Would go back again because the tacos meats are cooked well and the service is excellent. Also love that they're a taco spot open until the wee hours of the morning--now that's very San Diego.

It's ok. Really bummed that the tacos weren't more flavorful: the ribeye was bland and oily, while the pork was bland and dry. Great salsa bar though so that helped.

The food was amazing! I like a little bit more of a crunch so I went for the volcano with cheese and refried beans on a tostada. We thought that was good and had a little kick. I also love that the service was very friendly and quick. They had indoor and outdoor seating and the margarita was very very frozen when I got it!

Me and my friend went on a Tuesday night for the special $2.99 "select" tacos and 2 for 1 margaritas. The tacos were pretty good. I enjoyed the steak the most and the chicken the least. The margaritas were meh! Much better margaritas next door at Johnny Sanchez!!

12 street tacos to go for 100.00! They didn't give any garnish so all we had was meat and tortilla.. late night or not, I'll never be back.

We're so glad we discovered this spot. Finally, a taquería in NOLA that tastes just like Mexico City! As chilangos, we recognize authentic flavors, and this place instantly reminded us of home. The pastor and sirloin tacos were simply delicious, bursting with the perfect seasoning and texture. But what really sets them apart are the salsas, each one is so good and full of real Mexican flavor. Every bite brings back memories of our favorite taquerías back in Mexico City. This place is now our go-to whenever we crave a true taste of home. Can't wait to come back and try more!

The food was passable but was honestly worth a quarter of what they charged. Way past what can be considered inflation. The food we got - a few tiny tacos they didn't even double up the tortilla on ($40+) and a couple sodas ($11+) should have been about 15-20 bucks (here in a US city) or about half that down in méxico.. It's a shame because the al pastor was good. But these guys are laughing all the way to the bank taking the gringos money. For now. EDIT: forgot to mention. This is also one of those self serve establishments that seemingly hold your order ransom by asking you to tip (at the 18, 20, or 22 percent level) PRIOR to receiving your order. This garbage practice needs to stop. I won't be heading any time soon.

Cute place. Loved the daily frozen margarita, good price. Decent street taco menu options. The tacos were a nice size and flavorful. Pricey for the options.

Very small food portions, overpriced. The food itself was good but the 'volcano' is much smaller than it sounds. I left still hungry after paying $20 for a single taco and drink. Staff was very nice!

Honestly after having a horrible experience at the brewery bbq place just a block away, this was a revelation! Food was yummy, the place was clean, the ambiance super fun, and the service very friendly. I recommend this place for a quick lunch for sure!

Portions are small, prices are high. Food is ok, toppings a little light. Understand overhead is high but think it's a little expensive. The reason I won't be going back is found out the owner is a Trump supporter. Didn't need to know that but now that I do, definitely won't be going back.

Really friendly and welcoming - good tacos - close to Hyatt hotels and perfect for a quick dinner before going to Superdome or Smoothie King arena. They were having a launch event when I went and invited me to share in the appetizers. Food came out fast - I'd go back

The food is extremely salty!!!! Make sure you bring a gallon of water to rehydrate! Portions are tinny and the tacos were greasy. I think the bag for the To go order cost more than the taco's. I will not be going back anytime soon. Hopefully they can figure it out. I give them 3 months...

Fantastic street tacos!! Great for lunch mid-week, cute cohesive vibe. These are the type of tacos you'd get in Mexico

Tacos are good, but the carnitas al pastor has only one or two slices of pineapple and hardly any cilantro or onion. The meat is also a little chewy. $9 for 2 tacos is way too much. The elotes is basically just flaming hot Doritos in corn with mayonnaise... not good, and they're definitely using canned corn. This is not authentic Mexican food, it's a cheap imitation in a high rent building.
