TAQUIZA - Cocina Mexicana

Table was in a corridor, so not a great start. Food was really good though – loads of flavour and nicely done. The scallop (pictured) looked great but the spice completely drowned it. Tacos were good but small, and £8 for chips felt ridiculous. Service was friendly but rushed, and the table wasn’t cleared between courses – a real pain. Floor and tables felt a bit grotty, sauces everywhere. Then the service charge… why? Just pay staff properly instead of skimming it off, and stop prompting for another tip on top. Still, the food was strong and I’d go again – just wish it was cleaner.

Delicious Tacos! We had the pork, beef and prawns and they were incredible! Cocktails are a little pricey but nothing beyond the usual London prices and they were also very good.

Amazing tacos! Everything was delicious and the chef even checked on me because I didn’t want it too spicy. Grace the GM is marvellous she makes the whole place sparkle with her personality. Go check out a Taquiza, my new fav Mexican place in Peckham.

Will definitely be returning the food was amazing, well seasoned the restaurant is so clean and well presented the service is fast and accurate and the price is the cherry on top. The tables are a bit close together as the restaurant is small but honestly they picked a perfect lay out. The prawn taco was the absolute winner for me and the right level of spice definitely black girl friendly and I will be bringing all my friends and dates here

I’ve been coming here since it opened and I haven’t written a review yet because I jealously wanted to keep this place a secret. It was imposible to do, that’s how good the food is. And the staff too: Andre, Grace, Sash, Paul, Eva. Sam has created something truly special here. Now, if I don’t get a table anymore because it gets too busy I might change my mind :-)

Some interesting sharing platters that works well for two people, maybe three if you're ordering more than one. The mate works really well on a warm day too. Seating is not that comfortable and be sure to book a table during weekends.

The food is serviceable Mexican cuisine, with decently seasoned proteins and overall decent ambience. However please beware the chips and salsa which are not complimentary or a reasonable cost - a small portion of chips (think around 350g) with three dips (sour cream, salsa Verde and salsa rojo) cost £8. Although they are not on the menu, both the online or in-person menu, the chips were offered to us numeros times without a mention of cost. Having dined in similar establishments were bread or a similar carb is complimentary this is somewhat deceptive. The tortillas, pictured below in the fish taco, were not warmed up which is also unusual. The portion sizes for the price point is very very small. Overall go there for the margaritas when it's happy hour, 2 for 1, but apart from that no need to rush.
