"As a Mexican bistro and wine bar, Tarántula is the first of its kind in Paris and long-awaited. After managing El Nopal, the city’s top taco and burrito takeout spot, for over a decade, the chef built up a cult following among food and wine industry pros and finally opened his own restaurant, taking over a beloved 11th arrondissement bistro. The worn wood tables, old-school red-and-white tile floors, and open bar have all been preserved, but the vibe is moodier, and the menu is more inventive. Start with the blue corn tacos stuffed with wild mushrooms and parmesan or the spicy chilaca taco but save room for the slow-roasted Cornish hen dialed up with Japones chili pepper butter and paired with corn tortillas (no baguette here!).
