"Warmly lit with red accents and wood paneling, Tarn Tip Thai Cuisine has served the Corvallis community since 1990. Squeezed between a superette and a cafe, this overlooked spot offers bright and intricately spiced dishes like yum woon sen, a salad with bean thread noodles, minced chicken, shrimp, and chile-spiked lime juice. The Tarn Tip fried rice, tinged yellow with curry powder, arrives topped with a generous handful of cashews for crunch. It is currently available for dine-in and takeout options." - Mariah Botkin, Sukhjot Sal

Tried again recently, haven't been since before covid. Food was great, expanded menu from before, they now have brown rice (sort of a wild brown mix). Fast service even while packed. Panang curry had just the right spice. Fried rice dish was huge. They now accept credit cards (but prefer cash).

Google
The best Thai food in town and maybe Oregon! Great service too. Highly recommended 👌

Google
Definitely the best Thai restaurant in Corvallis. I wasn’t expected they would be good but actually turn out pretty good. Just so you know the water is $1 per bottle and they don’t have free water for you. Pineapple fired rice are really good but like why they don’t give a lot of rice tho? LOLOL. And Thai BBQ chicken are so good too!

Google
A very nice place to grab your favorite Thai food. Food was tasty and the portions were satisfactory. The server and waiter did a fine job and were attentive to us. I recommend this restaurant whole heartedly!

Google
First time dining out in a couple months, and we picked the right place to get back into the groove. Best Thai food in Corvallis, for sure. I have only been a few times, but it is terrific food, served fresh by very friendly staff. Paht Thai was delicious, with perfect noodles. My favorite was the crispy duck with the Thai basil, so good. And they take cards now to handle all the takeout orders! If you like Thai or just darn good food with fresh ingredients, definitely check it out.

Google
My favorite here is the siam noodles with tofu. The chicken wings and the honey duck are so delicious. Food comes out quickly and the staff are very kind. Easily one of my favorite spots in Corvallis.

Google
Food was good especially the Siam duck which everyone liked. Pad that noodles were crispy and tasty. Service was ok. Forgot to bring our Satay appetizer before our main dishes until we asked for it.

Google
I’ve been here many times for dine in and takeout and it’s always good. The food comes out quickly even when it’s busy and the staff is friendly. My favorite dish here is the red curry.

Yelp
Our favorite Thai restaurant in Corvallis. Food is delicious and fresh, amazing flavors, friendly staff! Everything we tried on the menu has been superb, can't wait to go again.

Dale H.

Yelp
I've been dining here for nearly 30 years. I stopped in for lunch the other day, for the first time in several years (pandemic...). Food quality and service have both gone downhill. I stood in line (no table service) to order what used to be one of my old faves, the red curry with bamboo shoots. It tasted like it was made with "light" coconut milk with a bit of water added--nothing like the slippery, silky, richness that I remember. The rice was soggy and devoid of that lively jasmine rice fragrance. If you order water with your meal you are handed a bottle with Costco branding. Yeah, I know it is hard to hire a dishwasher, but come on... On the bright side, at least we got to eat our lunch off of a plate rather than from a to-go box. All in all, lunch was pretty lame, no better than any of the other lame Thai restaurants in Corvallis. I can't imagine that the fatherly patron who used to rule this place would be proud of what it has become. I probably won't be back.

Frank C.

Yelp
Although the staff is small, they are fast and professional. The food is good and they ensure that the spiciness is acceptable for the customer. Limited parking.

Dylan V.

Yelp
Lovely little joint for a quick lunch or button-popping feast. Have tried their pad thai, pad see ew and a few of the curries and been thoroughly satisfied every time. Service is top-notch too - they're quick, friendly and have thrown in some free spring rolls or sweet rices on the side before too. Note - not sure if they do dine-in but I've only ever gotten take-out.

Ben D.

Yelp
Best place in Corvallis! I love theme amazing food, great service and love of options.

Mel J.

Yelp
Tarntip is amazing. I come here frequently because it is so good. The soup flavor is so good. The Pad See Ew has great flavor - my kids will eat this and they claim to not like Thai food. We often get Siam noodles or a mixed vegetable dish as well. So many good things! The fresh rolls are very good, and I like the chicken satay. We get take out and sometimes even delivery! If you aren't sure, just give them a try. It's worth it!

Ashley D.

Yelp
Corvallis doesn't have many good options when it comes to restaurants but this place is delicious! One of the few places I really enjoy. I got number 79, the Kao Soi with shrimp. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They let us stay passed closing time to finish our food as well. The restaurant itself was pretty cute too. Definitely recommend going here!

Debbie S.

Yelp
Only had their Takeout but the Yellow Curry and Fried Rice are excellent. We also love their Chicken skewer Appetizers because we could drink that Peanut Sauce.

Kris C.

Yelp
The food was excellent! The servers were amazing! So many gluten-free options too! Highly recommend

Regina O.

Yelp
Great flavors- Ordered Pad Thai and Pad See Ew without fish sauces. They also have delicious gluten free peanut sauce!

Yelp
I remember the Tarntip restaurant in Corvallis. I went here for my first date with my now wife, back on Labor Day, 1991. Wow, that was 32 years ago. Just came out of high school, we were poor, young undergraduate students at OSU, so going there was a treat. Our go-to dish back then was Chicken Popeye's Delight. Something special about that dish. I've tried all of these years to remake it and it is just never the same. Best wishes to TarnTip, hope one day, we will be able to come again. Glad that they still have that simple dish on the Menu.

John S.

Yelp
Ok, tried Tarntip again today, crispy chicken is good!! The place gets busy around dinner time so call for takeout at least a half hour or so before you want to eat! It is worth the wait!

Samuel M.

Yelp
Staff was friendly but the food was disappointing. We got crab Rangoons, Massuman curry and pad see ew. Rangoons were soggy and the filling was off- flavor and texture wise. Pad see ew was seriously lacking in flavor, very bland. Curry was okay but not super impressed. Had high hopes for this place based on prior reviews but was pretty disappointed.

Jonah S.

Yelp
When looking for Thai food in Corvallis there are options. This is one of the stronger options but I would love to see more work put into the actually restaurant itself. The food is good, the service is fairly good as well. But the ambience of the restaurant just doesn't feel up to the standards of both their food and their service. I think this restaurant is great for takeout and has potential to be a great dine in restaurant given they put some more effort into the space itself.

Kate W.

Yelp
Hands down the best Thai food in Corvallis, and has been consistently the best for years! The green curry is my favorite comfort dish! I've never had anything at Tarntip that was not perfectly flavorful. I love the coconut ice cream, with fried bananas too!

Trav H.

Yelp
It was pretty busy when we went in, the food was great but they had to use to-go containers even though we dined in. Probably has to do with left over covid policies. The guy who took our order was very nice, I imagine he owned the place, how he cared a lot. I didn't take a photo of my food because it didn't look great on a paper plate, but it did taste wonderful. I'd come back if I lived in Oregon but I'm way up in seattle.

Lana R.

Yelp
I was in town for a few days and wanted some Thai food and found this place. I saw some reviews and checked it out. I got the chicken Phat Thai which was good but my dish was a bit salty. I really liked the server and the person running the front of the house as they were very nice and welcoming and attended to all of our needs. I would go here again and maybe try to order a different dish but overall a great experience.

Shayla T.

Yelp
Update: I've tried this before, but got to take pictures today of my to go order! I love the coconut ice cream (and so does my dog)! The poppers come in an appetizer size of 3 and you can choose either a more savory one (curry) or a sweet one. Pictured is what I order, which is usually with extra noodles and broccoli. My boyfriend and I usually do one to go order like this and it can feed us for an entire day or two! This place is still my favorite spot to go to, and it seems like many other people's favorite place as well for Thai food. The atmosphere is welcoming and the way they handle to-go orders is professional and efficient. They are very busy especially during peak hours of the day, but they are appreciative of every single person that walks through their door. The owner loves to share his cuisine and food with others; it's as if he shares a piece of himself with every food he has on the menu. The owner loves to make food, and has shared a delicious appetizer with me the other day. The curry poppers have a soft texture on the outside just like a croissant and a sweet potato, curry mix on the inside accompanied with some pickled vegetables. It is a great appetizer and I will always be returning for more food here. If you've lived in Corvallis for a while and haven't tried this spot, give it a try! You will not regret it because I always crave their food, especially the Siam noodles and Pad Thai!

Dane S.

Yelp
When it comes to Thai Food we're EXTREMELY picky. Decided to give it a shot after the last Thai place let us down and these guys DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Their yellow curry was extremely flavorful and the Drunken Noodles were full of fresh veggies and awesome spices. Super fast pickup and super clean restaurant! Awesome service def recommended to anyone!

Traci McDonald G.

Yelp
Always delicious ever since they opened! Prefer pineapple fried rice, curries, Tom kah, vege dishes, Paht king sod, cashew gai, and oh that hot fish soup!!

Brandi W.

Yelp
They have limited staff, but the staff they do have is wonderful and kind. They answered all my allergy questions, and gave good recommendations. And the food was delicious.

Maria P.

Yelp
Very good!!!! Highly recommended! The Thai Lady with short hair she so nice and very accomodating!! She did a good job what food suggest. See u next round!

Helen W.

Yelp
This is one of many Asian style restaurants on Monroe and I think it's definitely worth checking out! This is a cash only place, but I don't really mind that. There's lot of seating in this restaurant and the employees are always super nice! We ordered the tom yum and the chow mein. The prices for both were really reasonable considering the portions sizes were pretty big! The only thing that was a bit inconvenient was that it was kind of hard eating the tom yum due to what it's served in but it was still really good! The chow mein was great too and was just the right amount of saltiness.

Yelp
Tarntip Thai has long been a local favorite in Corvallis, and my husband and I have been coming here off and on for the last 15 years or so. We just came back yesterday and I'm happy to report their amazing food hasn't changed, its still the same great place with the same great owners making the same great food! I would say Tarntip has the best red curry I have ever had...its got such great flavor!! Not too spicy, not too sweet, just perfectly flavored curry! Their other curries are also amazing, I have had a few of their others over the years as well. Also they have some of the best Thai iced tea I have ever had also...once again, perfectly flavored, not too tart, not too sweet, just perfect! A great thing about Tarntip is that they also have lunch specials, two specials per day. Usually its one regular dish, like a sweet and sour dish or something, and one curry dish. We always end up getting whatever is on special, since all their curries are absolutely heavenly. I believe their lunch specials are now $8. Their portion size is perfect also, a good amount of food but not too much so you can't move afterwards! The service here is also good, they get you in, seated, take your order, and get your food to you in a timely manner. The people we saw working yesterday were the same people we saw there 10 years ago, which was good to see! They are all very cordial and pleasant. Usually the place gets really busy during lunch also so they turn tables pretty quickly, and even though the place is on the small side, it has a good amount of tables and can accommodate a lot of diners. ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: TARNTIP IS CASH ONLY!!! One Yelper gave them a low score for this...really?? So what, just bring cash, its not like you're buying a new car....$10-$15 cash isn't a huge amount and shouldn't be a big deal...but it is something to know before you go! I absolutely love Tarntip Thai and I'm happy to report they have withstood the test of time. I hope to visit them in another 10 years and find the same amazing wonderfully tasty curry and Thai iced tea that we had yesterday!

Hannah G.

Yelp
Definitely recommend going here! Very friendly and delicious food. I would recommend the Yellow Curry and the Tom Kuh Soup

Lindsey P.

Yelp
Probably one of my most favorite Thai restaurants and definitely the best one in Corvallis area. they take cards now but I still brought cash. The menu is very redundant, there's so many items on the menu. We order takeout because they did not open the restaurant for dine in at the moment. The garlic fish my husband got was awesome, and the pad see ew i got was incredible as well. Will definitely come back when we're in town!

Alisa W.

Yelp
Just tried Tarntip and it is by far the best Thai food in Corvallis. Will definitely be going back.

Kelli S.

Yelp
Loved this place! I usually get green curry for its mild spice and flavor but tried red since the photos of red looked amazing here. While asking for mild spice on my red curry still made me almost cry, the flavor was amazing and Im willing to admit I think I have incredibly weak spice tolerance so that's probably my fault. Like I said, I could definitely tell the flavor was awesome. My bf got panang curry and it was equally good (he agreed and i tasted;) It was the first time I finally got him to try curry since I love it so much and im glad this was his first! He fell in love! Thanks for still serving takeout during this tough time of social distancing Tarnip. Sadly had to knock my review down. Sucky feeling getting home starving and seeing your green curry that you specifically requested as mild as humanly possible is actually almost red w spicy flakes and upon tasting makes you choke. Yea im a wimp but this stuff made my level 10 spice ordering roommate cry. Also took 50 minutes (estimated 35.. already a bit long). Sad night for me:(

Thomas M.

Yelp
Now, the Yellow Curry Chicken was fantastic. Begging for more napkins was tiring though. They were clearly understaffed, running to and fro caused them to not check in to see if I liked the dish, needed anything.

Maggie L.

Yelp
This is the best most authentic Thai restaurant I have ever been to. I don't know why Anthony Bourdain hasn't come to Corvallis before but there are a lot of great local restaurants her with extremely authentic taste that you can't find anywhere else. I highly recommend you come here and get their special crispy chicken and Tom yum soup. I went to college here almost 10 years ago and still come back every now and then to get my Thai food fix.

Katie W.

Yelp
I come here for the Pad Thai. It is out of this world amazing, it's sweet and not over powered by peanut flavor which is why I love it so much! Noodles are cooked to perfection and topped with fresh cabbage. Another one of my favorites is the yellow curry with potatoes, onions, carrots, and I order it with tofu. I do not recommend ordering the pot stickers, they are yummy don't get me wrong but you can honestly make better ones at home. Not worth paying for! They are steamed and not cooked on the pan so they are just very ehhh As for drinks the Thai iced tea is my favorite! Very authentic:)

Ben H.

Yelp
I just stood outside the kitchen and watched *EVERY* one in the kitchen not wearing a mask, standing over tubs of food, all yelling at each other, as happens in a loud kitchen. Two people had masks around their necks, but nowhere near their face, the other two didn't have any mask in sight. You'd think they'd be more careful if they wanted to stay open. March 4, 2021 Benton County is one of the Covid extreme hot spots. I used to come here often. They have the kitchen hidden from anyone seeing, with a large makeshift board, but I'm tall and could see through the crack. Horrible.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Elegant Thai decor with great food. If you like boneless honey duck, I recommend #50. The Pad Thai with prawns has big enough prawns and fresh vegetables served as a tower. Great food.

Bob K.

Yelp
I was a regular at Tarntip in the '80's when I was going to OSU. Best Thai in town and this was before Thai became a thing. I was in Corvallis this past weekend and ordered from there again. Monroe has changed little and was still bustling on a Saturday night. Tarntip was as it ever had been, tucked in between Bombs Away, and the little market, just down from American Dream; ah, so many options in less than a block. The service was great even now in the pandemic where things are mostly curbside pickup. The cuisine was excellent as I recalled. While the menu had varied some from my memory I was not disappointed. Definitely a must when in Corvallis.

Samantha S.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! My dad's side of the family is from Thailand (I'm first gen) and the food tastes just like the food in Thailand from when I visit my family. Absolutely authentic and the staff is so sweet to me and my family whenever they come to visit me! My favs are: -Thai tea -chicken satay -masmun curry -pad thai It is a MUST try! 10000% recommend!

Melody L.

Yelp
Good food, friendly service. Just a lot of take out...so order takes a while to get to. Cash only. Parkings not bad. Good tasking food, chicken is not dry.

Lucinda W.

Yelp
Delicious and not too expensive at all. I'll be back for sure! Coconut soup with tofu was superb, so was the sticky rice.

Liane D.

Yelp
Easy call in delivery order. Cash or check only. Quick delivery, 1 hr estimate was 40 mins. Food was hot and fresh. Beware of the crispy salmon the chili heat is intense even for a guy who loves chili

Rand B.

Yelp
Got the #67. Salmon was destroyed by overcooking. The chicken in the tom kah gai was unseasoned and just tasted boiled. Sorry guys, just can't recommend this. Nice that it's near campus, that's what they have going. And everyone else knows it: You are fools for not accepting cards. Are you trying to hide money?? How have you not heard this yet? That's the only explanation for not accepting cards today. How have you not heard this yet? Pretty dumb here. I just want to say, for those who want real Thai, good luck in your search. It wasn't found here. The ideas were good, the execution failed.

Lexie F.

Yelp
Vegetable red curry and pad thai are PHENOMENAL. I can't eat dairy or soy so to find a restaurant with soy free Asian vegetarian food Seriously delicious and I will come back a million more times.

George O.

Yelp
COVID times, delivery. Outstanding! Best Thai food I've had in years. Favorite dish so far, Crispy Basil Duck! I'm in town for a week and I ordered that dish twice. Yellow Curry is very satisfying. Pad Thai, delicious and great texture. If you don't like really good food from an impressively large, Thai menu, go elsewhere.

Benjamin C.

Yelp
Best Thai cuisine in Corvallis! the food is almost as quality as the staff and owners!!

Michael S.

Yelp
Best Thai food in Corvallis. I always get the Tarntip fried rice with chicken satay. I could eat here everyday. Like others have said, they're cash only. A minor inconvenience for delicious food.

Elle S.

Yelp
This place is a gem! I eat a lot of Thai food and have high standards for flavor and spice. This place is amazing for teeny Corvallis! I absolutely love their peanut sauce and order a Siam Salad and Summer Rolls almost every time with peanut sauce. So good! Their curries have a great depth in flavor and a nice baseline spiciness that I expect from Thai curry. I love the tarntip eggplant, spicy peanut curry, and Tom yum. Give this place a shot!! They only have one phone line so if you're trying to call in an order on a Friday night at 7pm and it's busy or says it's not working, just keep trying to call.

James F.

Yelp
2018 and still only accepts cash for payment!? Even worse, they use styrofoam for take out orders:( It shows they care more about saving a few pennies more than the environment. I won't be coming back

Desiree M.

Yelp
SUS. My beef did not taste right at all. And then when I flipped it around on the other side there bubbles on the meat. And it just didn't taste that good to me. I will give it some time and try it again in a couple months but for now I am not returning.

S L.

Yelp
This place has amazing food. The Pad Thai they serve is my favorite out of any other restaurant and the Pad See Ew is really good too. The portions are great, and I'd suggest this place to anyone.

Daniel B.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat ever! My biggest problem is deciding what to have between the beer red curry, the chicken phad Thai, or the pla krob. The flavor on all three is unbeatable at any other Thai restaurant I have ever been to. I live in Portland now and regret that I cannot eat here more often. If you are considering them place, do it! But make sure to bring cash as they don't take card or check. Staff is friendly as service is pretty good. Their spicy gauge is pretty good for adding heat to any dish.

Alexandra D.

Yelp
Ordered: *Pad See Ew - ordered with fat noodles, good portions, not greasy. *Mixed Vegetable Red Curry - lots of veggies which is always nice - broth is tasty, asked for 2 star spicy and it doesn't have too much kick. *Perfect portions - not too big and not too small. Service: *Quick to seat *Small wait for water or check-in with waitress but quick to get order and refill water *Received our dishes at different time but luckily we were sharing orders. Only downfall we found was that they don't accept card - cash only.

Khánh Linh N.

Yelp
The food is always good and very similar to what I had I Thailand. I just don't like the fact that they only accept cash.
