"This breakfast and lunch spot in the Lower Haight is where we go whenever our upstairs neighbor decides that mid-morning on a Tuesday is the time to jump rope. The menu covers everything from smoked salmon toast and paninis to massive salads and loaded nachos (plus coffee, beer, and wine). Tarragon Cafe has a ton of tables, but no outlets, so come prepared." - lani conway, julia chen 1, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong
"Tarragon Cafe is the Lower Haight’s multi-hyphenate poster child, and a destination at all hours of the day. In the morning, folks stop by for a quick iced latte with their golden retriever in tow. It’s also where to take an extra-long lunch—there are plenty of sidewalk tables ideal for photosynthesizing in the sun, plus better-than-average cafe staples like an excellent chicken caesar wrap and comically large salads. Adding to this spot’s many list of talents: wifi that actually works, so migrate here on afternoons when a WFH change of scenery is in order." - ricky rodriguez, lani conway, julia chen 1
"We’re big fans of the mountainous caesar salad at this Lower Haight cafe, so it’s no surprise that their CCW bundled inside of a slightly crisped-up tomato tortilla is also a winner. There’s a wheel’s worth of shaved parmesan, hunks of chicken breast, and the crouton bits somehow stay crunchy in the generous amount of dressing. Each half is also about the size and width of a genetically modified russet potato, and the plate comes with chips, so expect to leave full." - julia chen 1, patrick wong, ricky rodriguez
"Need to get work done? This Lower Haight cafe with wifi and plenty of seating fits the bill. It’s also just an excellent place for a quick breakfast or lunch in the neighborhood—the menu covers morning-time things like pastries and smoked salmon toast, plus mountainous salads and paninis that are more filling and well worth your time. When in doubt, go for the pork belly bánh mì, which comes on a perfectly crusty baguette with a slathering of sambal aioli." - julia chen 1
"Tarragon Cafe in the Lower Haight is a go-to spot for a quick breakfast or lunch whenever we're in the neighborhood—but it's also an excellent place to hunker down and get work done. The menu covers everything from breakfast sandwiches and paninis to cheese plates and loaded nachos (plus coffee, beer, and wine), so you could basically stay here all day and have three balanced meals. We usually opt for the smoked salmon toast, which is piled high with buttery fish, pickled onions, and a garden's worth of fresh radishes, cucumbers, and tomatoes. photo credit: Melissa Zink" - Julia Chen
