A picturesque winery not to be missed when visiting the Yarra Valley. The architecture of the main buildings which house the Tarrawarra Museum of Art as well as the restaurant, is simplistic yet bold and stunning. Definitely a place that photographers and instagrammers would love.
The cellar door entrance is carved nonchalantly into the side of a hill, and when it's automatic doors open, it's as if you're entering another dimension of cool. Tastings are $5 pp for 5 varieties, a menu is available on the counter. A floor to ceiling glass wall separates the tasting room from the actual cellar where the oak barrels are stored.
If you're lucky and the wine maker is available, you may be able to enter their domain, where the magic happens. Though I personally think there is magic everywhere you go - being able to bask in the beauty of vineyards from the restaurant deck, protected from the sun by natural shade from the trees, watching the still silence of nature.. only one word springs to mind. Heavenly! *sigh*
Do visit the museum, even if you're not a huge fan of art, it's very peaceful inside and the clever use of space and lighting creates a beautiful backdrop for your own artistic photos.
