Tarrytown Pharmacy is easily the best pharmacy in Central Austin. It sets a high bar for your friendly mom-and-pop pharmacy. I have always enjoyed browsing their beautifully-laid out and spacious shop, where you can get stationery (Crane's!), toys (Jellycat!), as well as every manner of pharmacy stuff under the sun (Caswell-Massey soap, luxury cosmetics, glittery-pink iPhone Airpod cases). You can get all the niche drugstore brands you never could get on Amazon or Walmart, although they carry standard brands too.
Some years ago, my horse had an emergency. In a fit of desperation I went in there to see if I can find what the equine vet called for. The pharmacist didn't bat an eyelid and helped me pick the best saline eyewash for humans (which worked for my horse).
During my COVID vaccine journey of 2021-22, I foolishly started my vaccination regime at a major drugstore chain, thinking it would be "better". At the chain, I had to endure rude pharmacists (who turned away people seeking the vaccine?!), clunky Internet booking work streams (which kept changing during the pandemic because they knew it was broken), and pressure to show insurance cards (so they can charge my insurer a 3-figure 'handling fee'). Sure, national chains were the best way of pushing out the vaccine in the emergency, but don't expect warmth, kindness, or quality.
For my booster, I decided to go to Tarrytown Pharmacy instead. Their website is easy to use for booking appointments. While they don't offer digital vaccine cards (which I need for international travel), they do perform COVID testing for international travel. And the vaccine administration process (check-in, etc.) was extremely well-handled by genial, sensible folks who looked like they didn't hate their jobs.
Go get your shots there, and thank the people who work there every day even during the Omicron surge. Tarrytown Pharmacy is one of the reasons I love America.
