Google
I was searching for a measles booster, but the major pharmacies were out of stock. They couldn’t provide any information about when they would have any in stock or even if they had access to a supply. Fortunately, I found Tarrytown Pharmacy online and discovered that they had a wide variety of vaccines available. I was able to schedule an appointment quickly and submit all my information online. I arrived at my appointment early and was promptly taken in. In less than 15 minutes, I was out of the pharmacy. The tech who administered the vaccine was very knowledgeable and addressed all my questions. Overall, it was a great experience, and I will seriously consider moving my maintenance prescriptions to Tarrytown Pharmacy.

Cyndi Alvarez

Google
Great store! I enjoy perusing their inventory of clothing, jewelry, housewares, toys and things I never knew I 😅 needed!

Mary Knight

Google
Tarrytown has been a great resource for vaccines. Appointments can be made easily on-line and the check-in, immunization, and check-out processes are quick and efficient. They also have merchandise for sale, so I was able to pick up some cards and sunscreen in my visit, as well.

Anne Wheeler

Google
Great experience. Short wait & easy to schedule an appointment. In and out is a zip, and you can shop in their awesome gift section.

Oliver Lovitt

Google
These folks have been there for us when we temporarily lost a brand new refill (moving chaos) and refilled it for us, when we needed an early refill, and when we needed extended refills for being out of town. They are so willing to work with you, and they really reduce the stress of caregiving for my spouse with Parkinson's.

Connie

Google
had my smoothest and the most satisfying experience getting Covid vaccine here. It’s very clean and pleasant, and the staff were very skillful and efficient.

Lou Ann Mosack

Google
My TDAP vaccine took less than 10 minutes and Dr. Katherine Watson managed to make it painless. The staff at Tarrytown Pharmacy is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this pharmacy.

Lillian Paulette

Google
We had a fantastic experience coordinating a flu vaccine clinic with Ellie from Tarrytown Pharmacy! From start to finish, she was professional, responsive, and extremely organized. Ellie provided all the information we needed upfront, making the setup process smooth and stress-free. She was flexible with our schedule, worked with our community’s needs, and ensured everyone was well-prepared ahead of time. The clinic was efficient, and Ellie’s attention to detail was evident throughout. Thank you, Ellie, for taking such great care of us and making the experience so easy. Highly recommend Tarrytown Pharmacy’s clinic services

Yelp
This review is long overdue. I've had a stellar experience with Tarrytown Pharmacy. I use this pharmacy's compounding services. They are on top of their refill reminders (thank you!) and I always receive clear communication on status, payment and when I can expect my medication to arrive via USPS. I've only had one small issue with the medication dispenser and the compounding staff were extremely kind and understanding re: my situation and immediately resolved the issue. Thank you!

Sam P.

Yelp
The most incompetent and unhelpful pharmacy. My family has been going there for decades and we run in to nothing but problems and issues. Specifically the pharmacist is the worst person on all of the staff. Instead of her fixing issues she has recommended my family no longer use terry town and that we are not appreciated as customers. I feel bad that I have to put one star if I could somehow put zero stars I would.

Yelp
Had no idea this "pharmacy" is also a boutique with a lot of selection of housewares and clothing. Stopped in for a prescription and walked out with a Father's Day card and small gift. How convenient

Yelp
This one is tricky. I have been using this Pharmacy since we moved here six years ago. Overall, it's been an easy and pleasant experience until this week. I have three children all requiring medication and one who is more medically fragile, and has several diagnostics that require various medications. One of which, of course, is a controlled substance. Being on the autism spectrum and having other impairments, there have been no providers in Austin, who could really help me find answers until I found an amazing provider in Houston! He has legitimately changed my son's life. He is a psychiatrist, medical doctor, licensed in the state of Texas as well as eight other states to prescribe medications. This week, Tarrytown Pharmacy told me that they will no longer release controlled substances for patients unless they are prescribed by a doctor in Austin. This is incredibly egregious and unjust. Particularly as the Pharmacy has all of our families information and to move to another Pharmacy at this point is so hard. I'm frustrated and furious because this is not a mandatory shift or litigious change, this is a pharmacy, refusing medication refills on the basis of their choosing. Which, technically, they have a legal right to do, but it's still unjust for patients that don't have providers qualified in Austin. I am incredibly let down by this policy and by the pharmacy. ** update: this pharmacy is allowing our family to continue receiving our medication's from our provider out of the municipality moving forward because of a special circumstance, so I really appreciate that Tarrytown Pharmacy could consider an individual circumstance and help us.

Yelp
I am a permanently disabled veteran who lives in the Central Austin area. Tarrytown Pharmacy is on the government's approved list for receiving flu vaccinations. I went in there for a flu shot and they refused to issue one. The staff there claim they have no idea how to bill the government for their services. So the bottom line is, they're rejecting disabled veterans for healthcare. The staff member was a complete jerk, stated " Yeah, ok, whatever, it's your problem." They couldn't have cared less and had no interest in calling the VA in resolving the issue either. I'll never go in there again. Fellow Veterans, this establishment is not veteran friendly, and they do not care about your health

Yelp
I only write reviews when a business is absolutely fabulous or 180 degrees the opposite, and I wish I could give TEN stars to Tarrytown Pharmacy. We started coming here during Covid when they were brave enough to keep their doors open. I was shocked by the outstanding level of care they provide - getting flu shots and vaccines feels more like a concierge experience than a drug store. Their pharmacists are patient and kind and I always come a little early to shop as their buyers choose the most unique, high quality items - from stationery to clothing to linens - in all of Austin. Love love love this fabulous locally-owned neighborhood business and grateful to be a forever customer.

Yelp
The injection I received from JC was so easy! Didn't feel a thing! Thanks, Tarrytown Pharmacy and JC!

Deborah B.

Yelp
I can only speak to the retail (not pharmacy). This store has a lot more than you might expect from a small drug store.

Yelp
I am in quite a pickle with a perscription that I need to get before my insurance changes over due to getting laid off. It's a long boring story but, when I spoke to the pharmacist where the perscription currently is (one of the big guys), they were not helpful in the least. It seemed there was no willingness to do anything but say 'no.' Just looking around for places nearby that weren't the big pharamcies, I called up Tarrytown Pharamcy and spoke with Chris. While he couldn't solve the issue, he was so helpful in explaining wha was happening on heir side and why the situation exists in the first place. He gave me some tips in dealing with my insurance and doctor to help optimize the chance of geting my perscription on time. Considering I'm not currently a patient with them, he really didn't have to do that. But guess what? I'll be moving my perscriptions there from now on.
google avatar

Gae X.

Yelp
The most confused pharmacy service ever. The cosmetics people must be answering the prescription refill phone line. The last refill was not filled after my call. After several days I called and they had no request for my refill. They were supposed to mail it, but it was so late I had to drive from way West of Austin to Tarrytown to get it. Today I got an SMS text to pick up my new refill, so I called to ask for the new refill to be mailed. They called back to tell me that it had already been picked up. No way! A few minutes later they called back and it was in their mail room to be shipped out as per my prior normal refills. They need management to tighten that pharmacy down a lot!

Yelp
I don't know much about them, a friend works here and they have a call center in Austin called Tarrytown Expocare. The pharmacy had THREE people test positive for Covid19. The call center was not told, not sure if pharmacy workers or customers were. Avoid this place to not get sick. The owner only cares for money. Not his employees or customers

Yelp
Tarrytown Pharmacy is easily the best pharmacy in Central Austin. It sets a high bar for your friendly mom-and-pop pharmacy. I have always enjoyed browsing their beautifully-laid out and spacious shop, where you can get stationery (Crane's!), toys (Jellycat!), as well as every manner of pharmacy stuff under the sun (Caswell-Massey soap, luxury cosmetics, glittery-pink iPhone Airpod cases). You can get all the niche drugstore brands you never could get on Amazon or Walmart, although they carry standard brands too. Some years ago, my horse had an emergency. In a fit of desperation I went in there to see if I can find what the equine vet called for. The pharmacist didn't bat an eyelid and helped me pick the best saline eyewash for humans (which worked for my horse). During my COVID vaccine journey of 2021-22, I foolishly started my vaccination regime at a major drugstore chain, thinking it would be "better". At the chain, I had to endure rude pharmacists (who turned away people seeking the vaccine?!), clunky Internet booking work streams (which kept changing during the pandemic because they knew it was broken), and pressure to show insurance cards (so they can charge my insurer a 3-figure 'handling fee'). Sure, national chains were the best way of pushing out the vaccine in the emergency, but don't expect warmth, kindness, or quality. For my booster, I decided to go to Tarrytown Pharmacy instead. Their website is easy to use for booking appointments. While they don't offer digital vaccine cards (which I need for international travel), they do perform COVID testing for international travel. And the vaccine administration process (check-in, etc.) was extremely well-handled by genial, sensible folks who looked like they didn't hate their jobs. Go get your shots there, and thank the people who work there every day even during the Omicron surge. Tarrytown Pharmacy is one of the reasons I love America.

Yelp
First time there tonight. Picked up something from the pharmacy and I was paying at the front register. I am less than thrilled with the service at either counter. They truly couldn't have cared less; their attitude was they seemed put out to have wait on a customer. Will have RX moved back to People's, $10 less there for it anyway...

Sonia M.

Yelp
My 2 kiddos were heading out of the country and needed a COVID test for travel. The trip was canceled, so we canceled the appointments 3 days in advance of the appointments. We were hit with a $100 fee for canceling. We believed we were freeing up testing space for others that needed testing worse than we did, especially in light of the testing shortage going on right now. Instead, we were told that there is $100 worth of "paperwork" that will need to be done to cancel - no budging. Given the testing shortage, they could have easily back-filled our appointments and made an easy $100 off of us. Disappointed. This was the 2727 Exposition Blvd location; with Seth Beltran as the pharmacist.

Yelp
I actually enjoy getting my prescription from this local pharmacy. They are incredibly polite and friendly whether you contact them by phone or see them in person. It's technically a pharmacy, but it's also half boutique. They have some cute women's clothing, a lot of home decor, and plenty of gift ideas for birthdays or Christmas. Although I've never experienced it, they also offer flu vaccinations and Covid testing.

Adele L.

Yelp
Lovely local pharmacy they know what they are doing. CVS could not figure out the process for the drug I take and I was without it for two months Tarrytown 2 days.
google avatar

Jan K.

Yelp
THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF on the covid tests. You can get the exact same covid test done FOR FREE at any Walgreens. I called to cancel my appointment 24h before and they would not refund $200 I paid for my wife's and my tests.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here today to get Covid boosters for my kids, and I was really impressed. It was easy to make the appointment online, and availability was better than everywhere else. The lines went very quickly. We were a little confused about where to stand but were very kindly corrected along the way. All staff was very friendly on the phone and in person. My kiddos were done early and left happy. Thanks so much!

Yelp
I started using Tarrytown Pharmacy about 2 years ago. All was great until about 6 months ago. That's when the refill orders were never fulfilled on time and I had to call them several times to get it accomplished. Not my physician's fault as they always responded to the refill requests. At that time texts to me letting me know when the order was ready also stopped. This went on for months. Several calls to resolve the problem were unsuccessful. Several calls to the pharmacy manager and owner were never responded to. Voice messages left on their phone system were ignored. Questions asked in person were shrugged off. A registered letter to the owner was never responded to; seems the owner is involved in a related venture and can seemingly care less about Tarrytown. So, I gave up with them and switched to 38th Street Pharmacy. So far...great. Transition was super easy. If you're looking for candles, cards, scents, and other home goodies, Tarrytown is the place. If you're looking to have your prescriptions professionally and efficiently handled, go somewhere else.

Douglas F.

Yelp
I came here for a COVID shot, and the people there were extremely professional and courteous. The gift shop was excellent, and people there were extremely polite. If I lived nearer, I definitely would be using them for my pharmacy needs, because they know their stuff, and are well organized. I definitely would recommend them, either for the gift shop, or if one needs something compounded.

Yelp
Vinny in the specialty pharmacy obtained the cheapest price in Texas on prescriptions, utilizing vouchers and coupons! The female pharmacist with glasses was kind enough to open the bag and go through an application lesson, after I told her I didn't know how to use it. She forgot to give me a sharps container and alcohol pads. Luckily, my nurse provided all that for me. She said, "They should've given that to you. Tarrytown Pharmacy usually provides a sharps container and alcohol pads. It must have been a new pharmacist." I had just spent $1500 out of pocket on prescriptions; they should've provided a complimentary sharps container and alcohol pads. The female pharmacist with glasses mentioned the first prescription needed to be refrigerated after opening, but she failed to mention the second prescription also needed to be refrigerated immediately.

Yelp
Wow what a great local business that helps make Austin a great place to live. I've been in Austin for many years but had my first visit here for a flu shot today. The Pharmacy is quick, friendly and efficient but what I loved is how there is so much more including greeting cards, party supplies, kids gifts and a wide selection of personal care products.

J B.

Yelp
Great pharmacy. The staff are helpful and well informed. Their COVID Program is really good.

Courtney D.

Yelp
Took my son for a Rapid test, was a little uneasy when they told me to leave without results. They said they would text me and email the results. Instead I received a text only four hours later. The text said if I needed documentation to email them and they would reply with a document. I needed the document to move my son into college dorm. I emailed them, never heard back. I called them explained my situation, she promised she would email before they left for the day. It is now day 3- no document. I paid $100 for this. I have since gotten him a free test and received document 30 minutes after test.

Cynthia G.

Yelp
My husband and I needed a Covid test for travel. We didn't have any luck with CVS. Their scheduling was a mess so I looked online and found Tarrytown Pharmacy. It was easy to schedule. The testing was easy and we got our results within the hour. Great service!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about this pharmacy and especially Lily who works there and is the most amazing human! I needed a PCR test for travel and went to Walgreens first, but 28 hours later the test hasn't even made it to the lab yet. So with an international flight in less than 24 hours I was in full panic mode. Lily took my call, heard me out, looked up all the requirements for the destination city and fit me in. Yes the tests are $200 each. Yes you can get them for free elsewhere. But I was able to get my results and all travel documents ready same day. And yes, most countries want to see a print out version of the test, they don't want to touch your phone cause it's unsanitary to touch dozens of phones. Still in awe of this place and their costumer service. Lily you're a rock star! End of the story Walgreens sent my results after I landed at my destination. Had I not found tarrytown I would have been returned to the US minus my vacation. This is my go to pharmacy and pcr testing lab period!

Deborah P.

Yelp
When my compound pharmacy (Austin Compound Pharmacy) called and after 4 years, they won't take my insurance. They wouldn't even fill this month to give me time to move script but NO per Jason. So I tried Tarrytown & spoke with Roseanne. She was absolutely great with getting info she needed and filling my order. She went above & beyond to help me whereas Austin Compound told me they didn't care about losing customers. I urge everybody to try the local businesses, they all need our help. Now I'm transferring my dog's compounded meds...and they mail your orders.
google avatar

Anke P.

Yelp
The best care I've ever received at a pharmacy. I take my dog there and I have received better care than anywhere else I've ever been. The workers here are extremely nice and proactive! A wonderful place to experience and would highly recommend coming here!

N T.

Yelp
In the midst of a historic weather event, they tell me "COVID tests are not cancellable". This is how much they care about their customers' well-being.

Breakfast B.

Yelp
Very negative experience at this pharmacy with refunds. They are insensitive to the current environment and not helpful. Highly recommend looking elsewhere if customer service is something you value.
google avatar

Dotty F.

Yelp
Our terrific Vet Dr Lassin at Paz Vet suggested a couple of Local Pharmacies that we could potentially choose from to have some medicine custom compounded for our dog's paw problems, and I had some questions about the pricing, medium and side effects of the drug. I was connected to Hang (hoping I spelled her name right) in The Compounding Department, and she was not only extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer all of my questions, but also personable, polite and super helpful in deciding what to do for our Shmoo. Thanks So Much For Your Excellent Service, Hang!!!

Yelp
If buying pretty trinkets is your drug of choice, then Tarrytown Pharmacy is your drugstore. I found the following list of surprising items there during my last visit: $111 earrings The Uchi Cookbook Kate Spade notecards Pet towelettes (for when you want to clean your dog's ears with lavender essential oil) Wind-up tin robots Cocktail rings with more sparkle than Mr. Clean's head Chutes & Ladders games Sure, you can get deodorant, toothpaste, and Wet Ones here, too - but at least if you are counting in square feet, Tarrytown Pharmacy is more gift shop than drugstore. Stop in here on your way to your next birthday party for a lovely present and a fun greeting card; grab a bottle of aspirin for the after-party while you're there.
google avatar

Ayer W.

Yelp
Tarrytown Pharmacy is by far the best pharmacy I have found in the Austin area. They were able to work with my insurance to obtain approval for a cholesterol medication subscribed my cardiologist. I believe this will prolong my life and am truly grateful for their help. I highly recommend them. Outstanding service. Highly professional.

Yelp
Yeah, I love having a small town feel in a very crowded pharmacy market! So maybe I shouldn't complain but do stay on top of the pharmacists. they mean well, but make assumptions your Rx card coverage is the same as everyone's with your insurance...which is just not the case! All they have to do is take one extra step to verify that yes, that is covered! Otherwise, a great place to go for tasteful last minute hostess gifts or unique holiday decs.

Yelp
Truthfully, I had never been to the place before my daughter discovered webkinz. And, let me tell you with authority that they have one of the best assortments of webkinz in Austin. They even get some of the hard to find webkinz like the sherbet bunny. They will take your order for a particular webkinz, call you when it comes in, hold it for you and even charge you the real price (websites are starting to raise prices on some of them). All that has earned them a 5 for me. Otherwise, Tarrytown Pharmacy is like the pharmacy in the small town I grew up in. It has lots of cutsie things including purses, hats, cards, candy, toys and a really attentive pharmacy staff that looked to take a lot of time with it's customers. Makes me a little nostalgic.
google avatar

TC T.

Yelp
A West Austin & Tarrytown institution, Mark Newberry has carried on the family tradition and taken it to the next level. The new store in Casis Village is a great improvement, and I am sure he's glad to be out of Jeanne Daniel's center. Best place in Tarrytown to buy cards. Knowledgeable pharmacists.
google avatar

Lauren F.

Yelp
A wonderful little shop - i've never used the pharmacy. They have all sorts of great imported soaps and lotions and candles. All the standard pharmacy stuff, allergy meds and razors. Lots of lots of gift wrap and cards too. A bit on the pricey side but worth it for the selection and truly friendly and helpful staff.
google avatar

Elle J.

Yelp
I love this place, granted I didn't use the pharmacy at all, but the quaint gift shop that takes up the majority of floor space in the store is wonderful. a wide variety of charming and quality items, from home decor, to jewelry, to luggage, to clothing. I found a charming bracelet -- although it's already falling apart after only two wears :( This has definitely become my favorite place to stop and browse on my commute home when I just cannot sit in traffic for a moment longer! and I can imagine feeling slightly under the weather and going in to pick up a prescription and walking out with a few baubles or two to cheer you up :)
google avatar

Janice H.

Yelp
I have not yet had a prescription filled here, but I had a very pleasant phone call with the pharmacist tech. I have Celiac disease and need my prescriptions checked to be sure that they do not contain gluten. The tech assured me that they would be able to check my prescriptions by checking ingredients and calling the manufacturer. He said that they have many customers that have various needs for ingredients, so they often check ingredients for customers. They also do delivery to Central Austin and ship medications. I will definitely have my next RX filled here.
google avatar

J C.

Yelp
while i am sure they generally offer decent/good service (per all the other reviews) it seems i'll never get to experience it. i called to check if a particular medication was in stock, as my two usual pharmacies did not have it. apparently, issa secret. i was told because i am not a customer they couldn't give me that information...??? i had literally just finished 20 minutes calling four other pharmacies who were able to tell me A) if they had it in stock, B) who the manufacturer was (it's generic but only one formula agrees with me), and C) if they had enough quantity to fill my Rx. all four pharmacies were able to provide this information. i asked why they could not and was told it's because they're independent. lol i mean okay, but one of the pharmacies i already called is independent. i was told the only way i could know if they had the med was to physically come to the store. which is obviously convenient since i am already having to call a bunch of austin pharmacies for my apparently evasive medication. since their inventory will forever remain a mystery, i wont be able to break in and steal precisely 60 generic pills prescribed by my neurologist. oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yelp
This place makes my life easier, pretty much every day. Taking care of my elderly parents is challenging at best. One doesn't drive at all, the other refuses to, unless its totally necessary. They both are on lots of medication. Even before my folks moved to Austin, I frequented this pharmacy for cards, gifts, holiday decorations, gifts, my prescriptions and other necessities. They are the nicest folks around. Now that my high maintenance parents are in my neighborhood, I've come to appreciate their patience at dealing with my folks, and the fact that they allow customers to maintain a charge account and they deliver medications. They also provide a service I'm sure we will need to utilize in the future, whereby they individually package your daily medications, and label them by day. A remarkable service.

Anastasia P.

Yelp
I love this place. I grew up walking here after school and buying candy with my friends. Now I go and find a card when I know a birthday is coming up. They also have a good selection of school supplies, and it's a lot more convenient than driving out to the closest office max (fifth street....ugh...). They have lots of cute gift items that are fun to browse through, and good for last minute hostess gifts. Also, they have a pretty wide selection of toiletries, and they include the reasonably priced brand Suave. Kids love it for the candy and the toys, which there is a plethora of both. I also love how they still deliver prescriptions to some of the more elderly customers. Everyone who works there is always very nice. Overall, it's a great place to pick up the necessities.

P G.

Yelp
My cardiologist sent my new prescription to this pharmacy because Tarrytown is one of the few that is familiar with the process of getting approval for this specific medicine. Let me just say they got the job done!!! They called whenever they needed to update me of what's going on. They handled everything from start to end. Even though my prescription had to be transferred over to my insurance's preferred pharmacy, Tarrytown still checked on me a few days later to make sure everything went smoothly. I can't thank you guys enough!!! I was expecting a big headache but it was was actually super easy and stress free because of all the work that they did. Thanks again!

Brooke B.

Yelp
If there were six stars, I would rate this pharmacy with six! I have never been treated so kindly or professionally by any pharmacists EVER! I dealt with Clay last week at Tarrytown Specialty Pharmacy and wish I were needing more medications, just so I could deal with him again! I am on some uncommon IVF meds and he went way above and beyond to answer my numerous questions and made sure I had plenty of doses until I could pick up the refill. Dealing with Clay, I didn't feel like just another customer, I felt like I truly mattered.

Yelp
This is a conveniently located drug store in a very nice part of town for the locals. My bro happens to live within walking distance so I have found myself there a few times. The store is well kept, nicely designed and the staff very attentive. There is also an ample gift section which is great if you need a quick present for someone. However, the pricing is a bit high for my tastes, but that is to be expected in a neighborhood such as this.

Katherine D.

Yelp
Clean, great service. They look like they have all kinds of fun stuff gift and household type stuff to buy, but I've never had time to check out that section for more than a few seconds. This review is just for the amazing customer service I have received from the pharmacists when looking for over the counter medication for a toddler. They were helpful, knowledgeable, and came right over to assist when they saw me looking confused in the aisle. I really appreciate the time they took to help out a worried Mom. Support this great local Pharmacy!

Maxi C.

Yelp
I have never had a pharmacy go above and beyond to get a specialty prescription that my cardiologist prescribes. The people are so professional and nice. The gift shop is wonderful too. Everyone here is so nice and always has time to answer all your questions.

Yelp
After I get gas next door my daughter goes with me to get my medicine. She says I talk too much. The woman with blonde hair is friendly. My eyes are happy. The cashier is friendly and he likes to talk to me. He does not think I talk too much. I am a happy shopper here.

Yelp
I adore Tarrytown Pharmacy! It is so much more than just a pharmacy. They have a great selection of gifts (and they gift wrap too), cards, toiletries and even jewelry and some clothing items. They've been in business for three generations now and it is very well run. If you need a prescription, they will get it out while you wait. The last time I was there getting one, I didn't even have time to look around before they were calling my name. I've also bought wedding gifts, birthday gifts and housewarming gifts there. Recently remodeled and in a new and better location in Casis Village. Love it!!
