"A staple for islanders since 2001, this beloved European café is a bakery and bistro serving daily specials, like sea bass fish sandwiches and beef stroganoff. Regulars float in and out all day long for bestsellers like quiches and cheesecakes that can also be ordered for enjoyment at home." - Helen I. Hwang

The menu includes flavored lattes, frappes, smoothies, teas, and coffee, as well as crème brûlée French toast, burritos, and a 'bomb breakfast sandwich.' Chef Lanny Chin oversees larger dishes such as pizza, pasta, salads, panini, wraps, and sandwiches, along with bowls like the 'Mediterranean vegan' and 'peppercorn crusted steak bowl.'" - Bradley Martin

The location of the cafe was extremely close to the oceanfront less than one minute. The outside section was very nice and even inside of you want more quiet. The cappuccino was really tasty . If you are a fan of coffee ask to get double shots with oat milk with small cup extra hot . The cake was very delicious. TWO HOURS free car parking in front of the cafe. Thanks for the staff for the kindness and smiles🥰🫡🫡🫡😍😍

Dad and I had a lovely morning people watching, eating quiche, toast and dessert. Best London Fog I have ever had and coffee I hear was perfect. Service was friendly and accommodating. We loved the pooches and kiddos milling about too.

Right behind all the restaurants along the Coronado Bay is this hidden gem. This was my favorite restaurant in San Diego throughout my trip here. I had the gnocchi with sausage, complimentary bread and the chocolate mousse cake. All of these meals were fantastic and I’d go back here again if I’m ever in town. Compliments to the chefs!

Das Vakamudi

Google
One of the best places for bread pudding and coffee. The food is great and you have to try their specials. The chefs specials are unique and very delicious. Very nice atmosphere and they allow dogs outside and seating inside and out is very good. On the corner of the orange Ave which is the best view to take pictures with San Diego downtown background Don't skip this place. Drinks are very good here. Coffee is great

Google
such a beautiful atmosphere, it feels like you’ve walked into a pastry shop in England. the vibes it gives off is rather elegant. the desserts are delicious, and also wonderful service.

Tartine was a cute little spot to grab some dessert. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening. The dessert selection was delightful, with a variety of pastries that were both visually appealing and delicious. I tried the chocolate tart, which was rich and decadent, and the fruit tart, which was fresh and bursting with flavor. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience. If you're looking for a charming place to satisfy your sweet tooth, Tartine is definitely worth a visit.

My wife and I came here for the first time, the food was delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend!

The food was so delicious. I love this place, very good service.

Yelp
Lovely little place. We were lucky to walk right in after the lunch crowds had gone away. We ordered a pear almond galette, pavlova, and chocolate peanut butter scone. The galette was the winner with super crisp pastry. It isn't every day that you can get crisp pastry, especially when it's already afternoon. The pavlova was nice too. It's extremely rare to find pavlova on a menu. The cream had a hint of banana cream flavors. Not sure if it's like that all the time. Our least favorite was the scone which was a little dry. But anyways I would go back just for the galette! I also noticed that they had prepped pieces of baguette and butter for the dinner crowd later. I'm a big butter fan so that was nice to see!

Cindy L.

Yelp
Came here because this is one of the few places that has pavlova which is one of my favorite desserts. It was pretty good, I wouldn't say it's the best since my favorite place to get pavlova would be black radish. What i didn't expect to get was coffee in the afternoon but I saw a seasonal pumkin latte on the menu and had to try. This was unexpectedly amazing. They put actual pumpkin in and it taste so good. I would come back just for the coffee, wish it isn't just a seasonal item

Kristin E.

Yelp
This is honestly one of my favorite places for breakfast or lunch. Plan to go several times because you'll want to eat it all. Their bakery case is bursting with delectable treats. And their home made meals are delicious. My favorite is their quiche or charcuterie. And we always top it off with a pastry and coffee. I can't wait to go back!

Simeko O.

Yelp
Had a great experience at Tartine! The service was friendly. The raspberry scone was fresh, light, and full of flavor--just the right balance of sweet and tart. Paired it with an iced latte that was smooth and perfectly sweetened. The cozy, European-style atmosphere makes it a relaxing spot to enjoy a treat in Coronado. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Dmitri R.

Yelp
We came to this place on a Friday afternoon to snag a cookie on the way to relaxing by the water. This place has a patio and inside to sit for a meal, however, the inside was quite snug. I had to squeeze through to view the cookies. The staff at the counter were very polite and answered questions that we had. The cookie was really delicious so I would definitely come back for more when I am in the area.

Christopher G.

Yelp
Was visiting Coronado and stopped in here to pick up some baked goods to walk around with and look across the water. They outdoor patio area looked quite cozy and the interior also had a cozy, relaxing aesthetic. I didn't get a chance to sit down and order a meal, but I'm giving this place 5 stars solely on their cookies. These large cookies were perfect, in my opinion. The snickerdoodle was crazy delicious and the peanut butter was perfection. Will certainly be coming back to try their breakfast and plated meals, but the bakery items are enough to come back for.

Michelle S.

Yelp
We were looking for a quick breakfast before heading home but wanted to go somewhere in walking distance from the Marriott. I wanted more than just a carby sweet pastry so we walked a few more blocks to Tartine. They were busy with a long line for a table but since we were going to get take out, we walked right in and placed our order at the counter. My teen was swooning over the super friendly server who took our order. ( I didn't catch his name but he's tall, moustached and easy on the eyes with the best customer service we've ever had... seriously the most genuinely friendly person ever!!) The quiche was thick and dense but not too cheesy. And I appreciated being able to swap in the fruit instead of the bread option. I liked the spicy chai but my teen did not... so I drank both. LOL! I'd rec this place and def want to return to try their pastries for dessert

Brie B.

Yelp
My favorite place in Coronado! What a quaint neighborhood restaurant surprise. The gnocchi was light and delicious. Every bite was delightful. And the desserts...The chocolate scone was perfection. The strawberry shortcake bread pudding was one of the best desserts I've ever had. Cannot wait to try the many breakfast items and coffee.

Peter L.

Yelp
Nice place to enjoy your morning. Friendly service and great food. There was no wait. Outside is highly recommended.

Lulu E.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I just ate here and it was some of the best food I've had in a while. We stumbled upon this place while walking around and 10/10 would go again. The pate was absolutely insane and the bread pudding was AMAZING!!

David H.

Yelp
I made a reservation for dinner but they called me a few days before and said they were going to close early so I had to go somewhere else . Can't really give an opinion on the food.

Regine A.

Yelp
Tartine is so cute! I love the cafe feel of the indoor and outdoor seating. It's dog friendly too! They have peanut butter dog biscuits for .75 cents each. You can come here for a meal or just to enjoy some dessert and coffee. We stopped by here after lunch to grab dessert to-go. The cherry apple crumble is not too sweet, but so delicious and will fulfill your sweet tooth craving. The employees here are super welcoming and friendly. They even have table fans to keep flies away outside.. every restaurant should have this! It's brilliant.

Gibran H.

Yelp
Amazing place to relax and enjoy food/pastries with a cup of coffee. The chocolate mousse was amazing, with deep and rich flavors; and the ricotta and pistachios tart was creamy, fuller, and rich in flavors. Service was amazing. M.J. was really sweet, really helpful and attentive. We also had the opportunity to meet the owner... we had to congratulate her on her successful business and she was really nice to us. Really recommend this place!

Christine G.

Yelp
Wednesday, August 14 at 7:15 PM stood outside over 10 mins to be seated. The servers didn't even make eye contact to let us know that someone will come seat us. It wasn't even busy. We walked away and took our business elsewhere.

Ann R.

Yelp
Delicious food! Excellent service! We never miss a chance to have a meal here! Very special!

Fred C.

Yelp
Amazing apple pie cheesecake. Great place to get a quick bite before taking a walk around. Closed earlier than indicated but that's temporary. Service was top notch and friendly, and the space inside is a cross between a European café and a diner. Excellent stuff!

Czarina V.

Yelp
Picked up some desserts here on our way to Hotel del Coronado. My husband and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary, so I wanted to get some of their cakes. I ended up buying their chocolate mousse cake, espresso chocolate truffle cake, and tiramisu cheesecake. All three tasted amazing. The only downside is that they were a bit pricey, my total came up to be $30+. Overall, I was glad I got to try their desserts.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Made a reservation for lunch with family friends after only having been here for their delicious desserts. I was unimpressed with the lunch food, but dessert and coffees were great as remembered. Would rate higher if only experienced desserts and coffee. Food: I ordered the spinach and cheese quiche that came with a side of greens. At $17, the size of the quiche was absurdly small. The greens, were exactly that...just greens tossed in a champagne vinaigrette. The quiche was decent and fluffy, but I left hungry. Husband got the ham and Brie Tartine sandwich and it was exactly as named, nothing else to it. Our friends got other sandwiches, and while everyone loved the bread (as I'm sure it's freshly made), the sandwiches were lacking. They all could have used some type of aioli or mayo or sauce or something! The greens would be better as a side salad with a little more than just greens as well. For anyone who likes plain food, these sandwiches would be perfect. The real star of the show are the desserts. Tons of fresh made cakes and cookies in their display case. All cakes are $10. We got the chocolate mousse cake and it was super rich. The mini cheesecakes are amazing, but I wasn't crazy about the two flavors they had this time. Service: our servers were ok, but we had to ask for more water when four people had empty glasses. Overall, I'd treat this as a cute coffee and dessert cafe. Would go elsewhere for a full meal.

Yelp
We always leave Tartine's amazed at how they prepare, pair and serve the food so perfectly! This week we had two dinners there - both, from beginning to end, superb. The spotted bass was prepared perfectly- with just the right amount of seasonings to compliment- not overpower. The pairing of seasonal vegetables was perfect - and the preparation was perfect -with hints of lemon and dill but not heavy at all! The chicken dish over risotto was delicious with the risotto not too thick or cream heavy. Green salads and beef barley soup along with the DELICIOUS bread made the meal complete. We too home a fabulous Tiramisu cheesecake. Both servers - Erin and our server last night - were wonderful. The owners always are present and are part of what makes Tartines run so smoothly!! Thank you!!! You serve amazing, healthy, delicious meals with grace!!

Hannah S.

Yelp
So cute and hits the spot in terms of French food. What you can't go wrong getting is the Tartine sandwiches or quiche. Also all their pastries and desserts look amazing. I have tried the croissant and the chocolate mousse and the vanilla tart. SO GOOD!! Coffee is great too. I love to order a cappuccino, croissant, and people watch. Double shot cappuccino is the way to go. Service was very friendly. She helped us choose food and had an amazing attitude:)

Fannie H.

Yelp
Wow this truly made my dessert foodie day! An abundance of pastries, cookies and cakes, it was hard to say no to everything!!! I left with just three (discipline!) The Old Fashioned Shortbread with chocolate chips An original chocolate chip cookie and the star... An amaretto flourless chocolate cake :-)

Yelp
Since I have friends retired on Coronado island a couple years ago. We've been here several times when we come to visit. It's a very nice café with indoor and outdoor seating. This time, our server was Kenny and he was just wonderful! Our favorite server yet! We started with a delicious mocha and then ordered the spinach and tomato quiche with a side, salad and a ham quiche with fresh fruit. Our friends shared a raspberry scone and fresh fruit bowl. We all shared the coffee cakes. The quiches were very good and quite creamy! The side salad has a very nice dressing! The fruit bowl has a very nice variety of fruit. The coffee cake is always very tasty, but just a little on the dry side. But they serve it with homemade whip cream, which is fabulous! This place gets very busy and it's rather loud inside, especially back in the kitchen, where you can hear the dishes, clanging and clattering. It's all part of the experience, but if you're hard of hearing, you might be better served by sitting outside if the weather is good.

Joanna G.

Yelp
I go here a lot especially for lunch. I really enjoy their desserts and panini sandwiches- eggplant one especially. All so very delicious! The service is decent. The ambiance is casual, cafe/diner feel, with a bit of ritz mingled in (it's Coronado)!

Alison V.

Yelp
Great little place for a coffee and a pastry! The staff was so friendly to us and they loved our dog too. Good coffee options and so many little pastries and desserts to choose from. Great location right in front of the bay with a great view

Edith F.

Yelp
We were denied service despite there being plenty of room to sit us down. The manager, Sergio did not make any effort to serve us, saying he was understaffed and could not take a large party. We could have been patient if he explained the food might take longer to prepare, but he simply said we could not be served. He also said to go ahead and leave him a bad review if we wanted to. Sergio really needs to work on his customer service. He left 15 Latin women truly unhappy this morning with his unfriendly attitude.

Divya B.

Yelp
Had the matcha croissant, mango cheesecake. The croissant was okay, I didn't care for the cream inside. The cheesecake however was fantastic! The ambiance was very cute cafe style. The service we received for our Togo order was great! I would come back and try different items and also get the mango Cheesecake again!

Ariah W.

Yelp
Closed 12 minutes early and we rushed to get there. The girl at the counter saw us and refused to let us in. Thanks!

Debi D.

Yelp
It's a very small, very cute place. The food was delicious. I want to go back and try other things. The desserts looked amazing.

Matt Z.

Yelp
Incredibly fresh, delicious food. Truly a gem. We live it for dinner, but the scones and coffee for breakfast are great. Best part is the wonderful people that run the place.

Julie K.

Yelp
Wonderful food! Tuna on warm, fresh baguette was yummy! I've eaten here several times and everything is very good! Service was good and outside is a nice experience.

Kyla B.

Yelp
Visiting and rented a bike for the day. Stumbled upon this spot, noticed how busy they were and decided to give it a go. So glad I did. The Ham and Brie Tartine was perfect. The mustard was a tad spicy which I enjoyed. Also service was super quick which I appreciated.

Peter S.

Yelp
The Apple "purse" is the best Apple pastry I've ever eaten! The chocolate mouse was divine. The lemon meringue was tart and tasty. Margarita pizza was very tasty with the fresh basil and tomato. Too bad I don't live closer, to this place. Staff very nice, helpful and friendly. Can be a bit noisy inside with all the hard surfaces but don't let that deter you!

Mike S.

Yelp
Pastries were good, not great. Little bit on dry side but it was noon so I don't know if they were dry because it was late in day or that's just how they taste. Service was friendly so they Must have fired the rude lady from the other reviews.

Kevin T.

Yelp
A cute little bakery/brunch spot in the middle of Coronado Island with some really killer desserts (can't go wrong with any of their cakes). Although were mostly there for some take-out desserts, dining in for interior and patio was rather popular and it was pretty popping even for a weekday. Street parking only as far as I could tell, so pray to the parking Gods for assistance. Service was polite, but a bit hectic behind the counter. Though we had a clear idea of what we wanted it didn't seem very organized. We had to repeat our order at least 4 times, and after the person we had got help they still got the wrong item and I had to shout to get their attention before they packed things up. For a five item to-go order plus dog treats, I'd have thought it'd be a bit smoother. We nabbed an espresso chocolate truffle cake for a friend, and got their lemon tart (tray sized), sticky cinnamon bun, Pot de Crème, and a Passionfruit Cheesecake. In a bit of a fail, I ate things before taking pictures of *most* of them, but the Pot de Crème was also not the most picture-worthy as it was un-ceremoniously scooped into a polystyrene container (a pity as it was rather nice in its original mini-pot). The only significant miss would be the cinnamon bun. It was rather sticky, but surprisingly pretty bland and dry on the inside so it might've been a bit stale. It was the first thing I ate, so it wasn't the greatest impression to start off with in our car ride back. Otherwise I would say their cake is generally quite on point. I sampled a spoon of the truffle cake, and it is *rich and dense* and quite stronk on that coffee/chocolate flavor. The passionfruit cheesecake was decadent creaminess and the lemon tart was just pure citric buttery goodness no matter how we served it (warm, cold, whatever!). Not a perfect café experience, but I'll be damned if their desserts aren't worth it.

Yelp
October 13, 2024: tonight my wife and I ate a delicious dinner at Tartine. The service was very good, and the food was delicious. My wife had the Spaghetti Bolognese, which was very good, and so was the vegetable soup. But the star of the show was my pork tenderloin which was served with bock chow, mashed potatoes and gravy. The pork was done perfectly and was very tender, and the gravy was almost as good as (dare I say it) my mother's.

Annette R.

Yelp
Such a sweet spot for coffee, nosh and conversation. We had the quiche which was light and fluffy (very different from a typical dense quiche) and the charcuterie board which was generously portioned with cheeses not easily found. In other words, they are not repackaging items from Cisco or Costco. Yay!!!! We felt like we were in a cafe in France! @sturdygirlstyle #sturdygirlstyle

Mitzy M.

Yelp
The food was amazing! I tried the curried chicken salad and it was delicious, plus the service was excellent.

Michael B.

Yelp
The hidden gem of the island. If you get a chance, do not pass up the pork chop, green beans, and mashed potatoes or the Tri tip stroganoff. The pork chop was the best meal I've had on the island after living here over 3 years. Always consistently great service, and never disappoints. Very animal friendly. Without a doubt the best of the island.

Joy S.

Yelp
We had gotten some sweet treats here last time we were on the island, but this time we wanted to try some meals. They have a nice selection of choices. While we were perusing the menu, they brought out some crusty bread with butter. I went with the ham and cheese quiche with a salad. My friend chose the gnocchi with pomodoro sauce. Hers came out of the kitchen barely warmed, but they were happy to take it back and get it hot. She enjoyed hers. My quiche was creamy, light, and delicious, with a flaky crust. The greens were tossed with a vinegarette dressing which paired nicely with the quiche. The staff we interacted with were all friendly and attentive.

Anna E.

Yelp
WOW!!!! I am delightfully PLEASED with this exceptional freshly made beef stroganoff here at Tartine in Coronado !!! The mushrooms were perfectly cooked and so was the sirloin steak ! So tender it melted in my mouth !!! And the sautéed onions ! Also the egg noodles were super perfect too ! This was super tasty and satisfying wow!! I am ven have some for lunch tomorrow because it's a very healthy portion !! I will definitely be coming back !!! The service was great as well !!

Tera M.

Yelp
Excellent quiche and the flakey melt in your mouth crust. The ham bits nice flavor the cheese ratio just perfect! If the coffee was better I'd give 5 stars. It's slightly weaker then a good dark French roast. Would be nice to have cream I asked for but tasted more like milk. ( suggestion find the coffee Breakfast Republic uses) I will definitely return and order tea.

Pranika B.

Yelp
The cutest little European cafe on Coronado island! Love the selection of paninis, soups, salads, and sandwiches. What caught my eye even more was the selection of cakes and pastries! I wanted ALL OF THEM. The quiche and panini tasted delicious as expected. The side greens were refreshing and much needed, but (not pictured) the side fruit was so insanely sweet and fresh! My favorite part was the coconut cheesecake. If you're a fan of cheesecake and coconut, this is THE cake you have to try. It paired so perfectly well with my cup of coffee. The coffee cake was also very tasty! Not sweet at all, but a perfect pastry to pair with coffee. I will definitely be back one of these days!

David H.

Yelp
Pains me to write this review, but it's been bugging me for some time now. I recently attempted to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but when the same customer service is repeated, it's a trend that has to be addressed. With that said here I go: Firstly, the pastries are great. They look great, they smell great and they taste great. These are not the problem. The customer service is my issue. If you order to go, the service seems to be good and quick, but if you're here to sit and eat... yeah that's another story... especially for me. I waited at the front of the store where is says to wait to be seated. After about 5 minutes, nothing. So I walked in and said I was looking to get a table, to which the person I asked just stared at me like I was speaking another language.... I don't have an accent or anything so I don't understand where the miscommunication was. So as that person just walked away, another person who I think was a busser finished cleaning a table said, "you can take this one." So we take it. Same busser goes back to continue his work and after he sees that no one is helping us he gives us menu's. "A server will be with you shortly". We check out the menu and we get our order ready. We notice other "Nado" guests get seated and given menu's expeditiously. We're still here waiting for our server who we still have not met. Now 4 more tables get seated and menu'd, and the others now have a server ask what they would like to order. We see 4 servers all walking passed us and just staring at us this whole time. I ask the counter person if our server was around, to which my question was glossed over and ignored although he did just stare directly at me acknowledging of my presence, yet, no response. So now I've been here 15 minutes and nothing. All the other tables seem to have gotten their orders in and are all smiles and conversations. Servers laughing with them, and just walking right by our table as if we were transparent. WTF? It's hard not to take this personal, but it seems that maybe I didn't have the "Nado" look like the rest of the other guests. I guess I have too much of a Chula Juana look that isn't very welcome at this part of town. If you're reading this and asking yourself if I'm saying what I think I'm saying... yes. That's what I'm saying. Could I be wrong? Completely. However, when this exact same scenario happens to me 2 times in a matter of a month, it's not an accident. The first time I just stayed in line for takeout and got a pastry and it was great, but that was after I had a seat, got ignored, and decided to give up my seat and just go. The second time, I just got up with my family and walked out. This place will not be getting my money anytime soon, if ever.

Curt T.

Yelp
The cafe mocha with Belgian chocolate was really delicious. Not overly sweet and just the right amount of coffee flavor. The spinach quiche was also very good. So fluffy and light. Not a lot of cheese so that's the only suggestion I'd make is to have a little more cheese. But overall very good. The crust is also light and flaky. The chocolate loaf was also delicious. Not as moist as you would think but not too sweet and very good. Service was also very good. Nice outdoor seating so you can bring your dog with you.

Ediz E.

Yelp
I love the bakery, brunch and coffee here. I had dinner multiple times as well. Beef stroganoff is definitely my favorite. They have a diverse Mediterranean menu. I can say my favorite Croissant after Paris - definitely right on target w a cappuccino. Fresh, flakey, right amount of butter. Favorite lunch items include the ham and cheese baguette and the quiche. We enjoy their pastries as well. Chocolate mousse and lemon meringue are amazing. The service is always friendly and I enjoy coming back as a local. While there is outdoor space space you can easily pick up everything and have a beautiful view of San Diego well you're enjoying them.

John H.

Yelp
On Sunday, I stopped by to pick a treat on my weekly bike ride. When it comes to dessert I want my calories to count, and this spot delivered. True to its name there were a variety of tarts, but I was in the mood for a cake. The woman behind the counter said their chocolate items were popular and I went with the chocolate mousse cake and a cup of coffee. The cake had layers of chocolate with a cake bottom and ganache covering and topped off with a piece milk chocolate. The cake base was dry but everything else was satisfying. The baked goods are certainly the star and the coffee is the accompaniment. This is an inviting spot and with a bright interior and large windows overlooking the patio. A large selection of breakfast like pastries, and the display case has more dessert-like items are available. It also has a brunch centered menu. It is near the ferry station on the corner of Orange where there are numerous eateries. I chose to enjoy my items across the street at the park overlooking the bay.

Jim T.

Yelp
The food is very good. Ambience is like a train station. Loud as hell and the staff does nothing to moderate the clamor coming from the kitchen. Sounds like an auto repair shop. Go for the food and take some earplugs. Service is friendly but rushed. So much potential for this place and they don't seem to capitalize on it. Disappointing.

Marilyn G.

Yelp
I think I found my to go place for pastries, I've been to many bakeries and they were all good, but I think this place is where I will buy my Desserts from now on, it's called "TARTINE". We ordered : * House Coffee * PAVLAVA *LEMON MERINGUE TART *PROCIUTTO PANINO *FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE AMARETTO * Raspberry Mimosa My Raspberry Mimosa was good . The Prosciutto panino I'm not impress about it , the Panino needs more condiments , it taste plain to me . BUT I LOVE the PASTRIES here, it's RICH in FLAVOR, but yet not too sweet at all, just PERFECT! Monday is never my good Day, I always feel Lazy on Mondays. Yesterday I had to get up and drive to Hotel Del Coronado to assist our visitor from out of town. After we assisted them to make their vacation here better , I told my husband that I wanted something with Caffeine or Sugar so that I could continue the rest of the day or else I would end up sleepy ;) . So we drove around and we found this Bakery, so we decided to try it. We are glad we did 'coz this place has a AMAZING DESSERTS and our SERVER ISSAC F , was the BEST ! Thanks ISSAC for making our stay excellent. Good food and even better service combined makes a new customer stay to be a regular customer. We will be 100% coming back to this Place.

Christine V.

Yelp
Best croissants. Coffee looked so good but I was in a rush as my husband was in desperate need of a ham and cheese croissant. I love the frangipane croissant personally with the almonds and it's very European flavors! What a great addition to the area! Customer service was outstanding too.
