On the Grid : Asado Coffee Roasters

"Ukrainian Village is lucky enough to be sandwiched in between two stellar coffee roasters: Dark Matter to the West and Asado to the East. When we need our cortado fix though, we find ourselves heading to Asado. They have three locations around the city, though it’s this one that roasts for their downtown location as well. They were the first shop in the city to exclusively pour over coffees and they’re no slouch in the espresso department, either. It’s always easy to find seating in the bright, minimal space and if you stop in at the right time, you may get treated to the smell of freshly roasting beans." - Potluck Creative

Google
5 stars👏 Stopped at this coffee shop on my way to the airport after seeing the great reviews—and they were spot on. I had the cinnamon toast breakfast sandwich and a latte, and both were incredible. I also grabbed their seasonal special, the “April” (a blueberry matcha), and it was so unique and delicious. The flavors here are really authentic, the staff is super friendly, and the place is spotless. Highly recommend making a stop if you’re in the area—definitely a hidden gem!

Google
Great coffee, good food. It doesn’t seem like much from the outside, but don’t let that fool you. The atmosphere inside is cozy, peaceful, and productive. Despite the surrounding area feeling a bit rough, the cafe itself is a great spot to relax or get some work done.

Google
Great neighborhood feel, calm, comfortable, clean and has slowly turned into my local spot (though I drive a little extra). Food recommendation: Cinnamon Toast Sandwich. Simple but tasty Sammy that will start your morning with a smile!

We are coffee lovers in this house. We like to order different beans from local roasters frequently. The big 3 pound bags! And we’re stuck on this one!! “ Argelia ARGCAFEE Colombia”. It’s a smooth and delicious medium roast, that makes a PERFECT latte. Pairs nicely with oat milk. We are currently drinking the LUNA espresso roast from here too, and it also makes a nice latte. Obviously more bold, but still delicious. My husband likes the LUNA roast better with his espresso shots.

Google
Upscale coffee shop and roaster in Northern Humboldt Park featuring in house roasting, pastries, and some hot food options. The shop itself is clean, modern, and has a soft color interior Coffee was solid and the specialty drinks they had as seasonal rotations were great. Especially loved the empanadas, they had a sort of corn flour masa for the breading. Worth going out of your way to try this one!

Reasonably priced and amazing coffee! I highly recommend the churros latte. It was perfectly sweet and so lovely✨

I recently visited Tasa, and I have to say, this place is a gem! Their coffee is absolutely top-notch, with a rich aroma and smooth flavor that makes it the perfect way to start the day. The baristas clearly know their craft, and every sip is a delight. I also tried two of their sandwiches, and it was just as impressive. Fresh ingredients, perfectly balanced flavors, and served warm—it was the ideal pairing with my coffee. The menu has a great variety, so there's something for everyone, whether you're in the mood for a light snack or something more filling. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a modern yet comfortable decor that makes it a great spot to relax or catch up on work. The seating is ample, and the space is beautifully designed, making it a pleasant place to spend some time. Plus, the convenient parking means you don’t have to stress about finding a spot, which is a huge bonus in this area. What really stands out is how Tasa feels like a true addition to the community. It’s the kind of place where you can see regulars chatting with the staff, and there’s a real sense of warmth and connection. It’s not just another coffee shop; it’s a place that brings people together. Whether you're stopping by for a quick coffee or planning to stay a while, I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a must-visit!

Google
One of my top 5 Coffee shops! Their drinks are amazing, sometimes a bit too sweet for my taste but still amazing ❤️ their seasonal caramel churro latte was amazing!!

Yelp
Super neat coffee shop! I've been here twice and enjoy their coffee and the atmosphere. It's vibrant and clean. Aside, the empanada is so good! Fresh & delightfully seasoned, and a great snack to go. If you're hungry though, you'll need more than one as they're a bit on the smaller side.

Yelp
Cute space with plenty of seating. Not my first time supporting this local coffee shop and generally have been satisfied with the customer service - not today, however. The person taking my order kept cutting me off and wouldn't allow me to finish my sentences - it was honestly quite frustrating. To top it off, the milk in my oat milk latte came out slightly burned. Regardless of the subpar service today, I'll be back because I do generally enjoy the drinks and space and want to continue supporting this local coffee shop.

Yelp
Visited here and it was the cutest coffee shop! I discovered them from TikTok because I wanted to support a Latina owned business during Latinx Heritage month. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely be stopping by. They have free wi-fi, merch to buy, and a very beautiful interior. It was an amazing atmosphere to work in. The employees are also super nice! While I was there I tried the Pumpkin Cheesecake Latte and breakfast sandwich. They both were delicious! I highly recommend checking out Tasa Coffee Roasters.

Yelp
Drink review only - Walking into this cafe is like going into another universe. It feels almost like a spa inside. I originally wanted to try the coconut lavender latte from their menu but unfortunately they were out of the coconut. I opted for a matcha latte with lavender instead. The drink was okay. The matcha tasted metallic so I couldn't finish the drink. I don't think I'll order that again but I would like to try the other drinks and food items.

Yelp
Came for a chicas y cafecito meet up on a snowy Sunday morning. The place is super pretty with a lot of seating options. I went with the xmas cookie latte and it was pretty perfect. It definitely began to pick up so there was a line, and limited seats.
google avatar

Nora F.

Yelp
Coconut lavender latte is delicious! The interior color scheme with all of its neutral, matte vibes make for a very relaxing environment. Their merch is so cute too - soft "Chisme and Cafecito" shirts and Tasa sweatshirts in neutral tones as well.

Yelp
Tasa has five stars for a reason! This place is amazing. The staff, coffee, ambiance, everything is wonderful. I came here to get some work done with a new colleague and it ended up being the perfect place to meet. There's a decent amount of seating and great wifi, two important things to note when working from a coffee shop. I ordered the iced pumpkin cheesecake latte from the fall menu. It's a pumpkin latte topped with cheese coldfoam and graham cracker crust. It was the perfect fall drink for when you still want something iced that tastes like fall. I also tried the egg breakfast sandwich made with egg, ham, cheese, and mayo. It was tasty and filled me up. Definitely will be coming back to Tasa and reccomend it to anyone in Chicago looking for coffee and wanting to support local!

Yelp
Latina owned coffee shop in the heart of Humboldt Park. I liked the interior of this place and the young lady who took my order was super nice. I got my typical basic black iced coffee, but nonetheless it was good and vibes here were nice. On a Saturday morning it was poppin!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by here on our way to the 606 and had a wonderful experience. They were unfortunately out the beignets (I'll have to come back for that!), but we got the empanadas, the cuban sandwich, and the tamales. Everything was great and very flavorful. We loved it so much we got a second order of empanadas and tamales. Highly recommend for a quick bite or breakfast!

Yelp
This is an awesome cafe. The vibe is awesome, the staff are friendly, and it's always busy with customers because it's so good. I went on a saturday morning with my sister for some coffee and brunch. They happened to be doing a "pictures with santa" event when we got there which was a funny surprise. We ordered the chorizo avocado toast with egg, which was delicious. They didn't hold back on anything, and there was plenty of chorizo and avocado. We also split the beignets, which came with twelve delicious bite size beignets, enough to take some home. I also tried the lavender coconut latte, which was super delicious with a very natural flavor. Clearly, this place puts a lot of effort into making top quality food and drinks. They are passionate about giving the customers a great culinary experience, in a very chill setting for excellent prices. I would totally come back!

Yelp
Great service, warm environment, amazing lattes. Such a cute little coffee shop. 10/10.

Yelp
Lovely space. Open concept with a roaster visible in the back. The beige theme is calming and would make a great study place. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. They clarified that the previous group ordered a lot of drinks so the wait might be longer. I appreciate the transparency upfront. We got 3 coffee drinks to-go and beignets. The beignets came out very tiny and cute. They were piping hot with a chewy texture. The outside wasn't as crispy as we wanted but they still tasted good. It was a little bit oily feeling but overall would eat again. My usually basic oatmilk latte was great. Strong espresso body, no bitterness and meshed well with the oatmilk.

Yelp
Tasa cafe is great. I stopped by early in the morning and they were busy and there was only one barista but the line kept moving. I ordered an iced matcha with lavender foam. It was delish and recommended by the barista. There's plenty of seating available if you WFH or just need to get a bite. They do offer pastries and food but it's limited. Metered street parking is available.
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
I stopped in for an afternoon coffee and the atmosphere was great! It's great knowing they roast their own coffee beans right in house! Will have to try some of the food items next time.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Tasa is such a calming space. Everything is warm and wooden. It's a beautiful coffee shop with plenty of seating available. The staff were friendly and helpful. On the menu, they have a list of classic coffee drinks and a list of seasonal specials. I appreciated that they had a good variety of food options too. I ordered the iced white mocha and beignets. The coffee was very good! Definitely will be back!
google avatar

Iris S.

Yelp
This place is such a gem! All of their food items we got (the Cuban, beignets) really hit the spot and definitely made us excited to come back for more. Their coffee is really good and their other drinks are delicious as well. Big fan of the interior! Plenty of room to sit and study, I think I read that the benches and tables were custom-made by Latino woodworkers. Definitely check this place out and support your local Latina-owned shop!
google avatar

Delia R.

Yelp
Delish! Location is great, the hermosa neighborhood has so many hidden gems and this is one of them. I had a salted caramel and avocado toast with chorizo! It was delish. Must visit, Can't say more, 100% recommend!
google avatar

Sabrina G.

Yelp
Such a cute little hidden gem! Beautiful Latin-owned spot with a nice calming beige aesthetic. I've been going for a year & it's such a perfect spot to get some work down, meet up and chat with friends, and to have some reading time. Just know that sometime they do get busy! My coffee always come out delicious & my food does too! Everytime I come here I can never get a shot of their chorizo toast or sandwich because I instantly devour them!

Yelp
Tasa is a beautiful space with ample seating, plenty of outlets and delicious beignets. They are known for for their lavender coconut latte so I had to try it. Upon first sip it was definitely different but it was a flavor profile that grew on me the more I drank it. My husband tried the horchatta latte and though that is my usual if available, I ended up really loving my latte. Beignets were warm and fluffy pillows of deliciousness and I really wish we would've tried more food options. Other people's orders started coming out of the kitchen and the sandwiches looked great. Service here really shines as everyone we interacted with was hospitable and kind. We never felt rushed and it was lovely to see groups of friends simply enjoying their coffee and chatting away. Noise levels vary by the hour so there were periods of peace and there were more rambunctious moments so I recommend wearing headphones if you have work to get done. Parking is plentiful on North Ave and the beautiful wooden exterior is hard to miss. If you're on the fence about giving this place a try, I say go for it!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious coffee, freshly made empanadas, big open space with lots of tables and extremely friendly service. They also host a merchant table so you can do a bit of shopping while your empanada is being made.
google avatar

Angelina I.

Yelp
Service was good and space was cute. There's a good amount of seating to sit and have coffee with friends or get some work done. The coffee was delicious! I had one of the special Valentine's Day drinks. They also had some breakfast items. Street parking only.
google avatar

Kelly R.

Yelp
Very, very cute space. Ample space to sit down and eat. Lattes are good. Try their specialty ones! Very nice people and it's Latina owned!

Julie N.

Yelp
Delicious drinks! Great vibe and decor inside as well, I'll definitely be back for a cozy day with a book or laptop and a nice cup of coffee :)

Ale O.

Yelp
Cute spot, very clean and welcoming. HOWEVER, the coffee was not good. I went because it was recommended but sadly, I felt very disappointed. I ordered a Latte and my friend a Drip, they only use medium roast, so you know it's not strong. Both coffees watered down. When asked Dani one of the staff, if we can exchange it for something else as she saw we didn't drink them, or at least remake, she said no. We'll, here I am, as I love supporting small businesses, I also feel that customer service is what makes you return to a place. Maybe it wasn't my day today, we left without our coffees ( we didn't drink them) and $15 short.

Bridget S.

Yelp
I got the Cuban sandwich and it was way better than I expected. The pork was really tender and the flavors of the sandwich melted together perfectly. The pumpkin cheesecake latte was also very yummy!

Alyssa A.

Yelp
The Cuban sandwich was very good with chipotle mayo. I loved their beef empanadas and how crispy they were. And the Horchata Cold Brew is so good!
google avatar

Yvonne I.

Yelp
Tasa is an amazing cafe to have in the neighborhood. The interior design elements are very tasteful and well thought out. I've only stopped by here once so far for their coconut mango matcha special, but I have high hopes for their other menu items.
google avatar

Yelp
Great VIBES and decor. I really enjoyed by chai latte -- and a very tasty egg ham and cheese on ciabatta.
google avatar

Eda X.

Yelp
Tasa is a diamond in the rough. This coffee shop caught my eye in a second, and I knew I had to check out their space. Inspired by the warm colors of a latte, Tasa is a wonderful place to study, grab a cup of caffeine or hang out with a group of friends. The staff here was super friendly and approacThis place has plenty of seating and the music is turned down chill enough for a good study session. The latte I tried had a strong nutty undertone that hit the spot for me. I would definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
This place is SO yummy and aesthetically pleasing. Very functional as well since there's tons of seating and outlets! Great seating, none of those hurt your ass seats. Music selection and sound are Percy. Not too loud or busy. Did I mention it's in Humbolt park? Tons of parking off North Ave! 10/10 amazing!

Kristina R.

Yelp
Love this place!! The food, drinks, music and staff are amazing! Genuinely makes my day when I'm able to stop by Tasa and support their team.

Yelp
Well this is my second time coming over here and this time I was really impressed by the avocado toast that I ordered with a sunny side up egg and a summer daze lemonade the chorizo on the avocado toast was very fresh and not too greasy with the avocado that complimented with the toast itself and since I had brunch I added a sunny side up egg which went really well on top of it taste wise. I already had coffee earlier so I ended up getting a cold beverage and I went for the summer daze lemonade. The server was right it tasted just like a jolly rancher in the form of a beverage. As usual everything was great ambience was a little more busier but nevertheless great environment very modern. I would say this review should make up for the Beignets I ate last time that I had. Other than that my two favorites I recommend is either the Cuban sandwich or the avocado toast. As for the beverages I do recommend the lavender coconut latte if you want hot beverage with coffee or if you're in a non mood there's the summer daze lemonade which I had or mango hibiscus for cold drinks
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Chicago! From the moment you walk in you feel like you're in a latte with the wonderful decor. Their coffee has great flavor, starting with the fact that they roast their own coffee. They also have delicious food. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Hilary B.

Yelp
I enjoyed a delicious latte and empanada! The environment is minimalistic, yet warm. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive to maintaining a clean space. I will definitely return!
google avatar

Lala B.

Yelp
I loveeeee this coffee shop! Such a gem! I found out during my lunch break at work!! The staff is super friendly and the drinks too notch !' The space is aesthetically pleasing and such a vibe! The food is so good! I've tried everything on the menu! My only wish would be for the empanadas to be bigger for the price but still worth the try!
google avatar

Katrina L.

Yelp
The food was excellent, the service is better. Try their seasonal menu, it's so good. Definitely will stop by again

Melanie L.

Yelp
I absolutely love this cafe, hands down my favorite. The workers are always very sweet and quick! On top of that, their menu is great and they have a lot of options. It definitely makes a great place to meet up with friends or simply get some work done! Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Cristina R.

Yelp
Loved everything about this place. It's quiet. There is so much natural light. Service was great. The chorizo avocado toast was the real MVP! It was so full of flavor! The texture was on point. The decor was nicely putting everything together

Yelp
Excellent coffee and their Cuban sandwiches are delicious. The beef empanadas are delicious.

Yelp
New place. Very clean. Delicious beignets. We were very happy to find it. Friendly service.

Yelp
Best coffee around! Tamales on the weekend are to die for. Perfect coffee shop, wonderful for meeting up with friends or just stopping by to get a bite and coffee before work. The ladies who work here are incredible at what they do, and the staff is so kind and helpful. It's bright and warm; they have really built something amazing! Thank you tasa!!
google avatar

Layne L.

Yelp
Tasa is a new favorite and I'm so happy to have a great cafe just a few blocks away from us! Their drinks are great - so far I've had the horchata cold brew, iced coconut lavender latte with almond milk, and hot cocoa. I've loved all the food I've tried, including the beignets, banana bread and tamales (my favorite so far - only available on the weekends until they run out, but so worth it to get there on the earlier side!) The atmosphere and lighting is wonderful too - it's a great place to read, work or chat. Would rate it 10 stars if I could!

Jose L.

Yelp
Random find while on a drive. Had the Cuddle SZN and Coconut Lavender lattes. Cuddles had that you-know-they're-using-legit-ingredients feel and taste. It was not too sweet but sweet enough to have you continue sipping. This is the mellow PSL that is straightforward no frills. Coconut lavender was calm and mellow but slowly built its sweetness. I wish I could appreciate it more if it was warmer. I will go back to try out their other seasonal stuff and horchata cold brew.
google avatar

Max W.

Yelp
It's good if you're nearby. Prices are high for the taste but a place worth supporting in a tough time. Room for working or meeting weekdays. Wont be back but encourage you to go ;)
google avatar

Kristen D.

Yelp
Fire!!! Great spot for your coffee and matcha needs. They also have tamales on Saturday and Sunday's that are delicious! The breakfast sandwich also hit the spot. I would definitely go back to study or just hangout. I would give you a photo of the food but I ate it all!!! Until next time

Omar S.

Yelp
This is a great spot! Had a fantastic Cuban sandwich, perfect latte, and beignets I didn't want to share!

Melanie C.

Yelp
I love this locally owned coffee shop. It's a warm and inviting environment with a friendly and helpful staff. The coconut lavender latte is my go to, although the horchata cold brew comes in a close second. The empanadas and chorizo avocado toast make a great snack combo with a coffee, and the weekend tamales are definitely worth a Saturday AND/or Sunday visit. This has been a great addition to the neighborhood.
google avatar

Forrest K.

Yelp
Their Cuban sandwich is incredible. Clean and warm atmosphere. A hidden gem in West Humbolt.
google avatar

Joan S.

Yelp
There's a new place in the neighborhood....stop by for coffee, check them out for lunch - The Menu includes a slow-roasted Cuban sandwiches and handmade empanadas; coffee's made with beans roasted in-house.
