Tasca Angel - Review - Ciutat Vella - Valencia - The Infatuation

"Valencia isn’t exactly overflowing with divey tapas bars turning out plates that overdeliver, but the ones it has hit hard. If you manage to squeeze into this standing-room-only spot (est. 1946) with fluorescent lights and a steady hum of banter, consider yourself lucky—there’s not much real estate. Start with a cold beer and place your order fast since the husband-wife duo who runs this place do so with no-nonsense precision, and stick to the classics: kidneys, cuttlefish, mushrooms, and snails. One unspoken rule that everyone seems to follow: order the butterflied sardines, which are sourced fresh that morning from Mercado Central, arrive perfectly browned, oil-slicked, and buried in a garlicky green sauce on little silver plates." - David Neimanis

Excellent food!!! Really the best seafood I’ve ever had, it’s so simple but has the best flavor you can imagine. Everything is made to order right in front of you and the service is amazing, they love a little chat and are very patient and helpful to give you the best experience. The place is small and cozy, so maybe not so suitable for large groups. P.S. GET THE BEER. It was truly the cherry on top.

I’d rate 6 stars for the food if there were. It’s definitely the best tapas bar I’ve been to in Valencia. You could tell from the multilingual menu on the wall that it’s famous among the international visitors. We ordered several tapas and none of them disappointed us. I’ve never expected to eat pig livers here. I thought westerners didn’t eat animal organs. But I was definitely wrong. The Valencianos know how to appreciate them and present them with unbeatable flavor.

Fantastic tapes! The real thing. Great food, service and prices. The sardines and garlic prawns are perfectly cooked. Big shout out to the lovely couple who work so hard to give us pleasure.

Wow! That is THE authentic tapas experience of Valencia! Amazing tapas, amazing service - two people rock this tiny place and all the orders flying around them! Delicious food, good prices!

That’s a very traditional and simple selection of tapases. Not exactly my taste, but it was interesting experience.

Tasca Angel is a tiny local tapas bar I love visiting in the center of Valencia. Every month, I stop by to enjoy some of their super tasty local favorites. The sardinas de la casa, sepia, montadito de esgarrat, and atún are always delicious and satisfy my cravings for authentic Valencian flavors. The cozy setting and friendly staff make each visit enjoyable and welcoming. Despite its small size, Tasca Angel offers a warm and intimate dining experience that feels like a hidden gem. If you're seeking genuine tapas without the touristy vibe, I highly recommend Tasca Angel. It's a favorite spot that never fails to deliver great food and a pleasant atmosphere.

Fantastic food! Fantastic price! We were able to get a table within 5 minutes and were also able to eat with our dog as they have very limited outside tables! Unbelievably, tasty sardines 10/10 best sardines I’ve had in Spain thus far, said by a Portuguese woman! Really fantastic place will definitely come back again and recommend it to any friends visiting! :)

I was here 9 years ago and had to come back. As always, the food is delicious, and the service is great as well. This is a typical tapas bar, so don't expect a table or reservation, just got an enjoy the typical tapas, but with the touch of the house that makes them more delicious. 100% recommended. Everything was so good that we forgot to take a pic of the food 🤦‍♀️

Yelp
Get there early (even before they open) and try everything. Excellent mushrooms, peppers, gambas. Totally worth the wait!

Yelp
We came 5 Minutes before opening time and waited and waited. It's the lay back spanish style and being in vacation we laughed it off with the owner when he finally.came. The place is really small with 5-6 bar stools which my sisters and I already took two. There were customers who went away because of overcapacity. We tried the place after reading the rave reviews but thought afterwards that we could have saved ourself the trouble. Each tapas were 3-5 €. The drinks were small so be ready to order several.

Yelp
Not a high-end fancy restaurant but strongly recommended! Reasonable price and high quality. We would love to go there again before we leave Valencia.

Yelp
Tapas, tapas & more tapas! Great local seafood tapas place. Owner and wife were awesome. Can get very crowded, but that's makes it even better.

Yelp
This is a small, Valencian-style tapa bar serving a variety of local tapa favorites. Whether you are looking for your popular Spanish tapas (patata bravas or champiñones) or traditional Valencian tapas (eel stew or sardines), this place has a nice 20-25 item tapa menu. The chef behind the counter prepares everything to order and usually flash-fries any hot-dish on a small grill beside him. The restaurant has a great friendly/loose atmosphere where you can chat it up with the cooks or other patrons.

Yelp
I went here with family. We were on a mission to have tapas, where it didn't cost 10 euros for a plate of stale bread and olives. Our night started out with us looking into a pack restaurant with what was probably a confused or bewildered touristy look on our faces. The man behind the bar was very kind and told us that he would be with us soon. He opened up the windows and started serving us. We had grilled cuttlefish in ink, pork tenderloin skewer, grilled sardines, mushrooms, and snails. Everything was great, and it al went down well with a beer. Service was awesome. Don't hesitate! Get yourself over there and have some food.

Yelp
Simply said a great place, that's what I love about Spain!!!! By coincidence we stumbled into this tiny tapa bar. Actually we had to wait outside since it was fully packed at 9:30 pm. But it was absolutely worth to wait. Just small plates, best to share with friends. The Chef is a funny guy, makes this place a fun place to be.

Yelp
