The 35 Best Restaurants in São Paulo, Brazil | Eater

"Portuguese chef Vítor Sobral delivers flavors right from Lisbon, where he runs five other restaurants. At Tasca da Esquina, Sobral offers a modern take on inexpensive Portuguese eateries known as tascas, dressing up the neighborhood place with elegant furnishings, skylights, and a green wall. If Portuguese heritage has always been present in Brazilian food, diners can return to the source here with options including salt cod with potatoes and egg, sardines with vinaigrette, duck rice, and octopus with potatoes." - Rafael Tonon

This is a lovely place around the corner from the Tivoli hotel, near St. Paulista Ave in Sao Paulo. The maracuja (passion fruit) drink is bright, sweet (if asked to get it with sugar) and delicious. The food is wonderfully prepared and taste absolutely delicious. I also highly recommend the various desert options, as they all seem very yummy. The vibe is a nice and easy going place, but with style and flair. The staff is super helpful and very carrying and attentive. I highly recommend to check this place out and enjoy a great meal.

Excellent Portuguese food served in a beautiful quaint ambiance. Highly recommend the Chef’s Special 5 course meal. Incredible value. Great efficient service, prompt and courteous.

The place is great and honest to the Portuguese cuisine. We actually prefer starters than the main meal, and it took quite a while to be served but totally worth the price and atmosphere

You can tell the lack of attention to wine when the wines are listed in the menu alphabetically instead of by regions/grapes. The food was average: the cheese starter was quite good, but the fried sardines didn’t taste so fresh.

The arroz de pato was overall good, however half of mine had no flavor and the other half was delicious. I think the chef may not have mixed it well or used dry and old duck. However, the part that was fresh was delicious.

We made sure to get here even in the pouring rain. It is one of our favorite restaurants when we are in town. Ask for Jeff, he is a steller waiter, and speaks/ understands enough English. They have outside seating as well if you come when the weather is good. Really great place, we will be back.
