Tasca Sorolla - Review - Ciutat Vella - Valencia - The Infatuation

"Tucked into a quiet corner near Valencia’s Mercat Central, Tasca Sorolla is as simple as it gets—just a sizzling plancha, a couple of chalkboards, and Ximo, the owner, chef, and heartbeat of the place, cooking simple, flawlessly done red prawns, sardines, cuttlefish, lamb sweetbreads, Valencian tomatoes in summer, artichokes in winter, or whatever’s fresh that day. The tavern is tiny, so if the few inside seats are taken, expect to stand out front at a high-top in the pedestrian street with a glass from a wine list that roams all over Spain, with thoughtful pairings and Ximo ready to steer you toward the right bottle for whatever’s hot off the grill." - David Neimanis

Very small but perfectly formed. Great menu with lots of fish options. We had the tuna, tomato salad, cod croquettes & anchovies. The server recommended a local wine which was delicious. It’s small with only 14 covers inside & out with a tiny but very organised kitchen. Definitely worth a visit if you can time it right & get a seat

Where to begin! If someone had told us this place had a Michelin star or was working towards one - I’d believe it! We walked past late on a Friday night and it was a big vibe. We came back a couple days later for dinner and had an unforgettable meal. Such an intimate place, a small menu, cooking simple but elegant dishes.

Wow… we finally got in here after 6 weeks of seeing it too busy. The food was excellent, the pulpo 🐙 was outstanding, melted in the mouth. The alcachofas, tuna & the all I pebre de anguila also amazing Service was great ❤️ this place 👍 We will be back soon…

Great place to stop for a beer on a hot day in Valencia. I did not try the food but it also looked very good.

One of my favorite spots in Valencia!!! The food was excellent — the tapas were made of high quality ingredients (both produce and seafood) and seasoned and cooked perfectly to bring out the flavor of the ingredients. The owner (? maybe) served us with so much care — making sure our food came out at a good pace the tuna was so excellent. also loved the tomatoes, cheese, peppers, cuttlefish. the cod croquettes were so tasty and you could taste the fish and it felt so homey. can’t recommend this place enough!!

The most unassuming little bar. Incredible food and service. We loved watching the chef cooking all of our dishes on the plancha. One of our absolute favourites in Valencia and incredibly well priced, especially given the quality!

A rare and delicious hidden gem in the backstreets of El Carmen. Micro kitchen serves the very very best of unpretentious Spanish tapas. Nothing is bad here. The service is paired-down joyous excellence, the food is sublime simplicity and wines and beers are on point. Avoid the traps el touristas. If you want the essence of Valencia, you need to be here. 3 days in a row. What more do I need to say?
