13 Places In Philly To Have A Last-Minute Group Dinner In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"We all try to get ahead of things; it’s why scheduled texts and to-do lists exist. But we’re also one busy morning away from forgetting to book a reservation for a few friends. Thankfully, Taste Of Dacca in Spring Garden exists. With a dining room that’s never crowded and tables with a minimum of four seats, the Bangladeshi restaurant was made for walk-ins. There’s a whole section of the menu dedicated to savory curries, mounds of biryani, and other shareable mains. It’s a safe spot for you and your perpetually late friends, because whenever they show up, there will be space for everyone." - candis mclean

The Hit List: New Philadelphia Restaurants To Try Right Now - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Getting a great Bangladeshi meal in Philly used to be a near-impossible task. But Taste of Dacca on North Broad has made it a whole lot easier. Everything at the warm and friendly halal spot—from the toasty, housemade naan to the velvety lamb in comforting curry—is excellent, and designed for sharing. Starters and mains come with a generous portion of salad and garlic rice, and the vegan menu is just as long as the meat-filled one. Get a tremendous goat curry before a show at The Met, or pick up a tasty weeknight dinner for date night at home." - candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, candis mclean, candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, alison kessler

If you’re craving authentic Bangladeshi flavors in Philly, Taste of Dacca is a must-visit! You don't have to go all the way to NYC for Deshi food, you can have it in your town. I recently tried their Kacchi Biryani, Beef Kala Bhuna, Daal, Fuchka, and Veg Pakora, and every bite was absolutely worth it. I wish I had ordered more food. The Kacchi Biryani was hands down the star of the meal – rich, aromatic, and perfectly cooked, full of spices and the meat melts in your mouth! Kala Bhuna was tender, flavorful, and a great intro for first-timers. The Daal was surprisingly comforting and full of depth. The Fuchka was a delightful surprise – fresh, tangy, and honestly the best we've had in Philly. Their Veg Pakora also stood out with a unique taste and crispiness that sets it apart from any other place. I ordered for two people and the portion sizes were generous, more than enough for a satisfying meal. The pricing is very fair considering the freshly cooked food and prime location. The restaurant itself is clean, beautifully designed, and welcoming. The two-story interior is spacious, with a peaceful upstairs section that’s perfect for niqabi sisters or families wanting privacy. The staff were friendly, respectful, and made us feel right at home. Overall, it felt like dining at a relative’s house – warm, cozy, and full of flavor. The owner is an incredibly kind and well-mannered person—made us feel truly welcome and the chef came out to greet us. Highly recommend for anyone looking to experience real Bangladeshi hospitality and cuisine. Definitely a 5-star spot we’ll be returning to!

We had the BEST TIME at Taste of Dacca. Extremely friendly vibe, like walking into someone's home, and an incredibly well-prepared meal. Everything we had was delicious and we couldn't decide on a favorite. Cannot wait to go back. Plenty of gluten free options too!!

I’d never had Bangladeshi food and this was my first time. It was super good!!! The waiter described one of the dishes as a goat biryani but different, and that was not only true, but I would say it’s both different and better than most of the goat biryani I’ve had in Philadelphia. Ditto for the soup. My wife got the Rui fish, which it seems as brought in directly from Bangladesh fresh, and she likes it. (She’s vegetarian). So, I’d give taste of Dacca a strong five stars. In a neighborhood with quite a few south Asian options, this one stands out. Will come again.

Dining at Taste of Dacca with my son was a wonderful experience. The food took me back to the authentic flavors of traditional Bangladeshi cuisine—rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The biriyani was a standout, and the beef curry was incredibly tender. The staff treated us like family, which made the meal even more special. This is a place I’d gladly return to for both the food and the hospitality.

If you’re looking for the most authentic Bangladeshi food in Pennsylvania, look no further—this hidden gem in Philadelphia is the real deal. From the moment you step in, the aroma of perfectly spiced biryani and slow-cooked gosht transports you straight to Dhaka. The Kacchi Biryani and Tehari are simply out of this world—fluffy, fragrant rice layered with tender, fall-off-the-bone meat, cooked to absolute perfection. The dal has that homemade richness, the Khashi Gosht is full of deep, bold flavors, and the variety of bhortas (mashed delicacies) is a nostalgic treat that takes you right back to Bangladesh. The chef came out to greet us. The owners were very friendly and very easy to talk to. This is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. There is no other place in Pennsylvania that serves Bangladeshi food this authentic, and I guarantee you’ll be coming back—probably with different family members each time, just to share the experience. If you love true Bangla cooking, this place is a must-visit!

Best Bangladeshi food in the Philadelphia area. Everything tastes like the food back at home -- made with love and an eye towards the real Bengali taste. We had the haleem, kacchi biriyani, kala bhuna, daal, begun vorta, sobzi, and teheri, and goru. Loved everything -- I will definitely be coming back with my family. Chef even came out to say thank you for eating at the restaurant. Must visit.

I’m so glad to have stumbled upon Taste of Dacca today. It stays true to its roots — thoughtfully themed and fully dedicated to showcasing genuine local Bangladeshi cuisine. The food was absolutely incredible. We ordered kacchi Biryani, Shorshe Hilsha, phuchka, Murgi Pakoda, Baingan Bharta, and Kheer — and every single dish was perfect. My parents loved it too!! . The Shorshe hilsha and biriyani, in particular, were a standout — rich, traditional, and deeply satisfying. Service was warm, attentive, and added to the overall great experience. The ambiance is beautiful, too — modern yet rooted in Bangladeshi culture. It’s rare to find such an intentional and well-executed concept, and it’s exactly what Philly needed.

A great place to taste authentic Bangladeshi food. The restaurant is still finalizing the menu, so not all items are available. We tried the Chicken Curry, Daal, Vorta, White Rice, Beguni, and Tea. It was one of the best food experiences I had in many years. The flavor and taste of the dishes were just like a home cooked meal. The staff were friendly and welcoming and made the effort to make our dinner enjoyable. The price of the food was also very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to try Bangladeshi food.
