New favorite! We were warmly greeted upon entry, told we could sit wherever we like and there’s a water station. It was very clean and very well lit due to the natural lighting. Our server was the most attentive and considerate person. She gave us space but also made sure to see how we liked our first bites and that we had enough water and offered to package our leftovers at the end. We only kept leftovers so we had enough food for the next day too because it was so good we wanted to “keep the party going”. I highly recommend the mango lemonade and the vegetable and mango curry. It was very easy to eat vegan here. I highly recommend coming here!

Google
What a wonderful meal and wonderful service! I would highly recommend this place the food was very good and tasted so fresh. The owners are husband and wife team, he cooks, and she was waiting tables . She was so very polite and caring about our meal. Felt like I was in her home. We will definitely be back to try more dishes! Thank you!

I hope everyone can make a visit to this petite restaurant next to the river in Mount Vernon! My daughter and I LOVE this place. We ordered the Mango Lassi, Chai tea, and Coconut Curry with Lamb. They have lots of vegetarian options if you like. We also had Samosas with Mint Chutney and Tamarind sauce, and Garlic Naan. Finished with homemade Saffron Ice cream. Why you should go: I have visited plenty of Indian restaurants, the food is delicious and made with care. The spice and flavors are authentic. When you bite into the crispy Samosa drizzled in the sweet and tangy chutney you will taste heaven. Their curry is so satisfying, eat with a fork or a piece naan. (Yes, I loved it) The homemade ice cream is very delicately flavored with toasted almonds on top and dusting of yellow saffron underneath. A unique flavor experience you do not want to miss! We were waited on by a gracious husband and wife team that made the whole experience personal.

This place is small but cozy with a very friendly atmosphere. The food came quickly and was delicious. We ordered butter chicken, lamb curry, and dessert. I will definitely visit again!

We stopped here for a quick lunch after visiting the tulip festival. We showed up at a pretty busy time, yet we were seated with a very short waiting period. The customer service was very professional, and the food was brought to us with good presentation and in a timely manner (not to mention delicious!). would definitely come again.

We stumbled on this place after checking out the tulip festival and am so happy we found it. While we were talking around, a nice lady named Nancy recommended we check it out. The service from the staff was impeccable - which is such a rarity today. I’ve NEVER had such good service in Washington state, ever. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and fresh and flavorful. We got an order of samosas, lamb vindaloo, and garlic naan. I also got a mango lassi. Definitely the best Indian food I have had for awhile. I even overhead staff talk with other customers who ordered their food a little too spicy for their flavor and she proactively took it back to give them dishes with less heat so they could enjoy their food without them even having requested that. Truly amazing customer service. Limited seating, but turnover wasn’t bad and on a nice day there are a few outdoor tables and seating at the park area nearby. Definitely not “fancy”, dishes served on paper plates with plastic utensils, but it really doesn’t affect the ambiance or anything. The prices were also very affordable for the amount of food you get and the quality of the food. If I ever end up in the area again, I would definitely come back here.

Google
Very nice Indian restaurant located in the downtown area of Mt Vernon by the river. We ordered the paneer pakoras, garlic naan, coconut curry and chicken biryani. Have to say, the garlic naan was some of the best I've tried before, highly recommend. And for dessert we ordered the saffron ice cream which is homemade in house there. Hope you get the chance to try it. There is also a good amount of parking in the area.

Google
This place is unstoppable. We usually get take out but I’ve dined in a few times too. Every single time they are friendly and welcoming, and the food is prepared quickly. The food itself is phenomenal. We love the Chicken Roll and Korma the best. What a gem for downtown MV!

Yelp
Really nice people and great food. We've ordered take away so many times before speeding off to the ferry terminal. Always helpful when figuring out our order or accommodating us when we forget to plan ahead. You can also get a good spice if you're wanting to feel some heat.

Yelp
We were in Skagit Valley for the Tulip festival; while searching for the Indian food, this is the only one showed up first in the list. Located in the downtown close to the riverwalk. There are plenty of parkings near by as well. Until we reached there, we didn't realize that they have a limited seating capacity- hardly 5 tables. They have stopped taking orders for dine-in until a table is available. There are a few tables near by the riverwalk plaza; so we decided to take out the food. Still it was a 30-40 mins wait. Just being the only Indian place, no wonder why this place was crowded. They menu is fairly simple. A few appetizers, breads, Veg and Non-veg Curries, biryanis and desserts. We ordered Chicken Biriyani, Garlic & a Plain Naan, Paneer tikka masala, and Mango lemonade. You be an pick the spice level in the range of 1-5. Picked 3 for Biriyani and it was spicy ! I left my mobile number and they called me when the food was ready. It took around 30 mins for the food to be ready. They were kind enough to add plates, utensils and napkins along withe food so that we can eat outside. Coming to the food - Biriyani was a little too spicy, but it was really good. The flavors were better than I expected. The meat was cooked well. Liked the Garlic Naan more than regular. They were soft and delicious. The Paneer tikka masala was also flavorful. Perfect combo with the Naan. It came with Jeera rice as well. The Mango lemonade is top! Must try it! Perfect drink for a hot day! We liked the food very much. Our experience with such food points were not really great. But this one really surprised use with the quality of the food. Their service is really good. They were overwhelmed by so many customers walking in every minute. But they have handled it gracefully. Will definitely visit this place again when we come to Skagit next time.

Yelp
Tasty Indian food restaurant. It's a bit expensive in my opinion. The food is always good, but the portions are quite small...at least for me. I've never eaten inside so I can't really speak to the service as I always just walk to the outdoor area across the street to look out over the river.
google avatar

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
Portion size is decent, food taste wonderful as you can tell by our cleaned dishes. The mango lassi was so good that I almost didn't want to share with my husband :) service was amazing. The only missing star is due to the small space of the restaurant, so the noise level was pretty loud and seating was tight.

Monirul H.

Yelp
Worst Indian food I've ever tasted. If you're Indian or like the taste of proper indian food, go to bellevue/redmond or vancouver. This place has no competition in mount vernon and the clientele are used to the bland food that is served up here. The indian curries that come in jar from costco are better tasing than the curries that are served up here. So, go elsewhere if you want real indian food.

Yelp
Lovely staff. This is my go to Indian restaurant in the Mt. Vernon area. They have vegan friendly options like Chana masala and Aloo Gobhi plus all the staples for non vegans too. The dining area is fairly small but if you take out, it's located right along the waterfront so there are plenty of outdoor picnic tables and a view to enjoy.
google avatar

Can D.

Yelp
Why do you not offer butter chicken calzone yet! Or meatball calzone. Love you! Also chicken or lamb samosa..I would like some options added to door dash
google avatar

Nandini H.

Yelp
One of the only Indian food spots near Skagit valley. Food was fresh and flavourful. Its not much in terms of ambience or service but good enough for a quick satisfying lunch .Not too happy about single use utensils being used even for dine in but hope they change that soon.
google avatar

Amanda A.

Yelp
We've only been here once, but we will be back! I'd assume most people get to go here as dining in doesn't provide many seating options (at least not durning cooler or rainy weather), but we opted to dine in for our date night. The service was FABULOUS and our food and drink were delicious! I ordered the paneer tikka masala- yuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmy! I forgot what my husband ordered, but it turned out he ordered one star too high. He can tolerate spicy, but the poor fella was turning red and sweating because of how spicy it was. The server was so kind that she had another one made that was a star less because she saw him struggling with the heat. It was unexpected, but extremely kind and appreciated. We can't wait for another date night here!

Nimit P.

Yelp
The food is expensive and of average quality. The shop is very cramped and uncomfortable to be in.

Carl P.

Yelp
They used cheap plastic containers to hold piping hot food for dine in. The plates were the type of plates you'd get at a kiddie event. Completely unprofessional. Very good food though. Fabulous paneer and great Bharta. With that said, we will not be back. Completely surreal experience. Do better and get real plates.

Yelp
We just ordered take-out from Taste of India. The garlic naan, samosas, saag paneer and lamb tikka masala were absolutely perfect. They were fast, polite, and the food was fresh & delicious. We're happy to have a great local spot to add to our list of places to get great take-out from.

Lindey E.

Yelp
By far the best garlic naan I have had. Polite service, fast, and hot food. Butter chicken was very tasty. Also loved the Brianyi.

Angie C.

Yelp
We were walking around and discovered this restaurant from the inviting smell that made our hungry stomaches grumble. The lady serving was super nice and helpful when we ordered. The naan and curry were so amazing! The window also gave a nice view to the sunset.

Yelp
Second time grabbing take out from here, whenever we are passing by the area. This time- from what I gather, this is family run, and on the day we went there was a family medical emergency. Lovely staff, extending grace on overall rating. As take out- not the easiest to eat on the road, food is filled to brim in packaging is so such that opening the container in a moving car is difficult. Padadum- (thin crispy rounds) didn't come with the chutneys, but classic flavor and texture. 4/5 Samosa-not spicy, really yummy. Predominantly potato based 5/5 Vegetable pakora- this turned out really dark, chewy and tough to eat. This one definitely scrapped up the mouth 1/5 Channa saag- more chickpeas than saag. Also had fresh chopped tomatoes and onions on top, looked like a salsa. Not bad tasting, just not very traditional. 3.5/5 Baigan Ka Bhartha- this one also tasted different than usual, almost like it was mixed with BBQ sauce. Not bad, just unexpected 3/5

Yelp
The owners are awesome! This place is a must visit if you are in the area and want to experience Indian cuisine!

Yelp
This tiny family-feel restaurant is in a great location along the Samish River boardwalk. There's only a handful of tables inside and they're pretty close together so don't expect any privacy with conversations. The menu is short so it's easy to make choices. And they do what they do well. The dining experience has changed, as much has changed with the pandemic, and they now serve everything in a to-go single-use fashion including utensils (which feels wasteful on the surface). It can be difficult to get a seat, but if you do you probably won't be disappointed.

William D R.

Yelp
Outstanding in ALL aspects! Best Nan I've ever had, too. Opens up to Riverwalk in summer. Nice people.

B H.

Yelp
Wonderful food. Nice staff. Always a great experience eating here. Great location downtown Mount Vernon.

Donna H.

Yelp
Food is AMAZING!!! Authentic buttery chicken with just a touch of spice! Genuine service from being greeted with a smile to excellent turn around time from ordering our meal to it being on the table. Ambiance is open seating, clean, cozy and thoughtfully arranged with a view of the river. We will be back!

Pamela F.

Yelp
We worked up an appetite Christmas shopping and decided we should walk to Taste Of India for lunch. The aroma warmly welcomed us as we entered the restaurant. Excited to be seated a helpful young man came to our booth to get us started. I asked what his favorite dish was and he said it was lamb curry rogan. I followed his suggestion and found myself to be totally satisfied with the dish and happy with the service. Taste of India I will be back - with friends.

Phoebe B.

Yelp
Love this place. Wish we could afford to come more often. This lovely family has had some bad luck, and they deserve good patronage as their food and warmth of service are outstanding.

Tammy T.

Yelp
Excellent Indian cuisine. Small, clean atmosphere with great view of Riverwalk. Highly recommend.

Cortney J.

Yelp
Very yummy and authentic- I've never dined in before, just take out. Always get my order correct. Very quaint

Yelp
Tried Mt. Vernon's Taste of India for the first time last night. Wow! We've been missing out. Everything was really well seasoned and tasty. Between my wife and I, we tried the Padadum, Veggie Pakora, Garlic Naan, Veggie Korma Curry and Lamb Biryani. We enjoyed everything! If I had anything I would have changed, it would have been a little more lamb in my Biryani. That's the only thing I can think I'd like changed. But I'm a carnivore. Seriously, though, the portions are very generous. If you haven't tried Taste of India, you really should.

Yelp
This place never disappoints!!!! 2 orders of Chicken Tikka Masala, 1 hot 1 mild. Vegetable Pakora and some Samosas'. Everything was excellent, spice was on point, lots of free rice and sauces. If you are looking for a GREAT place for some Indian food, look no further. Seating is limited but well worth the wait. Enjoy.

Yelp
Excellent food. Wonderful service!!!! Taste Of iNDiA!! TOi! They are so friendly here, all smiles and sweetness! Their food is absolutely top notch. The hot chai tea is a comfy treat. The restaurant is so clean and quaint, with a small dining area, and many tables to choose from outside at the river park. The to-go platters are sturdy, secure, holding the temperature of the food steady, which is a nice departure from restaurants that try to be environmentally friendly, only to spill the food out of floppy, soggy cardboard boxes. TOi uses high quality, reusable containers that hold up and keep a seal, even when i accidentally drop the bag -- thank God, my food was kept safe!!! Today i ordered Coconut Curry with vegetables and [extra] paneer. Paneer is homemade cheese which is cubed and has a texture of hard tofu. TOi does an excellent job on their paneer! i usually get Saag with Paneer [spinach with the homemade cheese], but decided to try something different for a change. The Coconut Curry is absolutely delicious!! it was a large portion, with a big side of rice. i requested my curry to be XTRA XTRA spicy. It was perfect. Super spicy, yet still ultra flavorful. Honestly, i will probably order the Saag next time. The curry is really good, i just can never get enough of the saag. It's my all time favorite Indian dish. And.... Taste of India is currently my favorite Indian food restaurant!!! thX TOi! ~ Radha

Atul S.

Yelp
Super sweet only one server girl who takes order properly and brings to your table before time. Very small restaurant but that's not the complain as food is good here. We took Coconut chicken curry, Naan and tea. Chicken curry was very good and the rice along with curry was fragrant and tasty as well. Only complaint is with their tea and Naan. Tea was like indian railway station tea with more water and less milk. Also, their naan seems to be readymade costco bread or some frozen items which is reheated and served with some homemade turmeric and garlic. So actually they taste very good but they should not publicize as Naan since I don't think they have tandoor even.
google avatar

Gabe S.

Yelp
Probably THE BEST Indian food I've ever had. Only downside is they were very busy when we visited (tulip fest weekend in April so rest of the year it shouldn't be a problem) but I would gladly wait 45min for this food. Still, even though they were incredibly busy we never felt neglected by the wait staff and they got us our food 10min earlier than they originally said.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Really great! Wonderful Indian food. Had lamb yummy. And great everything. Wow! Lamb Biryani
google avatar

Ankit S.

Yelp
Nice little Indian place in mount Vernon. We stopped on our way back from the tulip festival and we weren't disappointed. We had the dal makhani and chicken curry. Both were well cooked and spiced well. The naan was also good. The chai was a bit more on the sweet side but good as well. Very authentic taste and would recommend.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
I've only ate in this restaurant a few times each time that I have gone there though the food has been very good very flavorful atmosphere pleasant and the people are very pleasant I don't think you could go wrong by going here if you're looking for a good taste of India food Please give them a try and enjoy that includes

Four A.

Yelp
We had three entrees, chicken Tikka, chicken vindaloo, and eggplant baigan bharta. One was better than the other. The vindaloo was spicy, the Tikka was creamy and bharta was smokey and intense. I would highly recommend.

Ted L.

Yelp
Food is good. Service warm, friendly and attentive. Dining area very small, but clean. Close to ample parking.

Ganesh V.

Yelp
Wonderful little place located close to the tulip fields. We had a good lunch here after visiting the tulip fields. All dishes we ordered were very well made and freshly prepared. My kids who are typically picky eaters loved the food. A special mention to the host who took extra care since we had my elderly grandmother with us. A must stop place to get some delicious Indian food.

D B.

Yelp
We tried many dishes from Dal Makhani to Biryani with shrimp. The naan I suggest getting your order in early for dinner. So flavorful, perfect spice, wonderful vegetarian dishes
google avatar

Morgan R.

Yelp
Sadly, this once-pretty-good Indian restaurant has switched from metal cutlery, glass glasses, white ceramic dishes and a nice presentation for a dine-in dinner to plastic cups, plastic tubs, TINY paper plates and ONE small plastic spoon on high school cafeteria tray. This at a time when most folks are trying to reduce their plastic use! You have to stand to read one small menu on the wall. Plus the papadams were burnt... Frankly, insulting given the price of the food. If I wanted a fast food experience, I'd go to PopEyes and at least be able to read the menu. I've been a monthly customer since they opened six or so years ago, but I won't be returning.
google avatar

Dianna H.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on my way to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival as my friends wanted Indian food. My party of 4 came around 2 pm on a Saturday and was able to get seated immediately, but it's a very small space with maybe 6 tables or so. I would not recommend coming here in a large group. I was surprised to see coconut curry on their menu, which I don't think I've ever seen at an Indian restaurant before, so I decided to give it a try. Got it with lamb for $13.99, which includes rice. I was pleasantly surprised by my curry, as it had a nice coconut flavor to it while the spice flavors weren't too strong. The whole dish came together wonderfully and was even finished off with coconut bits sprinkled on top. My friends ordered the butter chicken and the malai kofta and everyone enjoyed their meal. The only thing I thought was a bit weird was that they put quite a bit of cilantro on their naan. I didn't order any for myself, but my other friends did, and both the plain and garlic naan was topped with cilantro.

Tom S.

Yelp
Great food and friendly service. Love this place. They always seem to be busy on weekends, so I'd recommend going there to place the order in-person because sometimes they have trouble answering the phone.

Yelp
Oh. My. God. How did I never go here when I lived in Mount Vernon!? Yes, it's TINY and yes, you'll be cozy with your co-diners, but the service is warm and friendly, the food is PHENOMENAL, and despite the minuscule seating area, it's well worth the wait and they never rush you. The chef in the back is a miracle worker - our food came out super quickly and piping hot, and tasted very fresh. We opted to go family style, with lamb vindaloo, mango curry chicken, aloo gobi, and an eggplant dish whose name escapes me. We had to see a show after, so we didn't want to go too spicy, and opted for a 3. This was the optimal level of spice, as this is a 5 at most other places in the vicinity. Everything was fresh and delicious, and there was more than enough rice. We also had a few desserts, and they were quite tasty. Four dishes, naan, and two desserts (no alcohol) came to about $36+tip per couple. Totally reasonable, if you ask me, as we were stuffed. The ONLY thing that is disappointing to me is now I live further away. I wouldn't put it past me to drive down to eat here though - it was really that good.
google avatar

Justin W.

Yelp
Good India food and reasonable prices would definitely eat their again . Parking may be an issue but if you the opportunity to give it a try .
google avatar

Samantha K.

Yelp
Their baklava is to die for and the best you can get in the area. I love all the food I have tried from there and the staff is very friendly and inviting. They remember as the baklava girl so they really do pay attention to the people coming into their business, I love it here and the food is really good.
google avatar

Sim J.

Yelp
We wanted to love this place but didn't find the food to be nearly as authentic or flavourful as others have commented. Perhaps it's because we're Indian so used to a lot more bold traditional Indian flavours. Expected more for the price point. Owner was lovely and very kind though.
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
I'm not sure why I haven't written a review for this place, but it is a lunchtime gem. A few years ago this family had their restaurant in a different location and unfortunately, the strip where they were at burned to the ground. Fast forward a few years and they are now in a great spot close to the Riverwalk in Mount Vernon, also right next to the Saturday MV Farmers Market. The lady who works here is very kind and personable. Our regular conversation consists of, "Where have you been?" and "How is your mother?" (I only brought my mom once!) But business owners who really pay attention to their customers are in short supply, so I appreciate our predictable banter. The food is delicious. I always order the lamb and it is tender and well cooked. The spice levels are consistent with what you would expect and the portions are a good size for one hungry person. Good service and good food make this one of my "go to" places here in Mount Vernon.
google avatar

Jess W.

Yelp
We love everything about this place. From its cute size, to its location, the staff and of course the food, I'm SO happy this gem exists in Mount Vernon for several reasons. Please don't go anywhere!!! I've never had a bad thing on this menu, it is all truly outstanding and authentic. The PAKORA, PANEER TIKKA MASALA and the TOFU TIKKA MASALA, all the vegetarian items!!! I can't vouch for the meat personally but my husband raves about it. Everything is just so good, you will not be disappointed! The staff makes it much better as well, they are incredibly genuine people and such a delight to be around. A bajillion thumbs up for this lovely spot. We've been several times and will keep coming!!!

Lisa S.

Yelp
It's a tiny place and they close early, so I almost always get take out right before they close, but everyone there is really friendly and the food is delicious!!
google avatar

Brittany J.

Yelp
Haven't been here since the pandemic, but the owners are sweet as all get out and there food is fresh, full of flavor and great for anyone, regardless of dietary restrictions. Stay strong folks! You're doing great

Phil H.

Yelp
Good food nice people. Lamb Saag, garlic nan, butter chicken, all good. 4 stars. People are 5 star, make you feel like you are a welcome guest.
google avatar

Liz R.

Yelp
The service is excellent and the food is delicious. I live in Mount Vernon and if I'm going to eat downtown, and not go to a brewery, this is my go to spot. There is outside seating as well.
google avatar

Sonia K.

Yelp
Take out order was ready as promised in 20 minutes, no wait. Both entrees were delicious and not swimming in fat which is something I am not a fan of. The chicken tikka will definitely be a repeat order. The kadhai paneer (no meat) was good too but would have liked a few more veggies in it. They give you loads of rice with each dish so plenty to eat with your leftovers. Note the spice level is a bit higher than other places maybe. But they do warn you about that when you order. So may recommend "mild" if you don't want to take a chance. The garlic naan was ok....but I think by the time it gets home its not going to be the same as eating it right away. This one is going to be on our regular take out list of local restaurants!
