Taste Of Lahore Shepherds Bush - Review - Hammersmith - London - The Infatuation

"You’ll find this branch of Taste Of Lahore in Brook Green, a little north of Hammersmith and below Shepherd’s Bush, and it’s a useful place to know about whichever end you’re coming from. Part sit-down Pakistani restaurant, part London chicken shop, Taste Of Lahore does its best to be whatever you want it to be. There are big banquettes for families in need of half an hour and office-workers looking for alone time with a biryani and naan, as well as looping menu screens for any street smart teens who didn’t know you can get a kebab with chips for less than a tenner. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Being all things to all people doesn’t tend to end well, but Taste Of Lahore really does the job. The lamb shank biryani isn’t just great-value, it’s generous and melt-in-your-mouth with a masala gravy on the side. And the chicken tikka is OK, if dry. Look around the room and you’ll see others having similar head nods as they bite into their veggie samosas. If other fast-casual chains took Taste Of Lahore’s lead, London would be all the better. Food Rundown Lamb Shank Biryani The ludicrously generous biryani comes with a whole shank in the middle that pretty much collapses from the bone the moment it hits the table. The meat is excellent. The rice isn’t the most fragrantly spiced but it’s decent. Ladle in a few spoonfuls of the masala sauce that comes on the side—it’s kind of like a fragrant gravy—and you’re in business. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Chicken Tikka This sizzling plate of chunks of chicken breast isn’t the most deeply marinated or carefully cooked we’ve ever had. Far from it. But it does what it says on the tin and is fine when slathered in sauce or picked up with a tear of freshly baked naan. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Jake Missing

My first experience with Taste of Lahore was in Hammersmith, where I was staying nearby. I have to highlight this branch because it left such a strong impression. It seems to be run by a small family, a father and son, and I only found out later that it is part of a franchise. Despite that, it has the warmth and charm of an independent place. The space is small, clean, and inviting, with a friendly team that makes it feel personal rather than commercial. The keema was excellent, rich and full of flavour, and the chicken with chips and sauce was outstanding. I still crave that dish every time I go to Taste of Lahore. The food has a freshness and balance that many similar places miss. It is also one of the more stylish Pakistani restaurants in London, modern in look but not overdone. The setting adds to the experience, giving it an intimate, relaxed feel that suits the food perfectly. Overall, this Hammersmith branch is a real gem and easily one of my favourite Pakistani spots in London. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something authentic, satisfying, and welcoming.

My brothers came here two years ago and told me it was the best meal they had in London. I traveled from halfway across the city to see for myself…and it was amazing. Food was spectacular, and service was fantastic. Looking forward to going back next time I’m in London.

Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE experience. I ordered a lamb biriyani for pickup and when I got home, I noticed that I received a shrimp biriyani instead. I thought it wouldn't be an issue, I'll just contact the restaurant and they'll replace the order, as the person I ordered the shrimp for had a shellfish allergy. EASY RIGHT? You would be sadly mistaken. I called the store, and told them that there was a confusion with the order, expecting them to offer me a refund or replace the order. Instead I was GASLIT and told that the chef made the lamb biriyani. Imagine the confusion as I'm looking directly at this extra fishy shrimp. He basically implied that I'm lying!! The person then HUNG UP ON ME! I cannot believe the lack of accountability or their unprofessional reaction to this. I'm still yet to find the lamb biriyani they're talking about. P.S. The lamb seekh kebabs were very dry.

The food was spot on — the spice level and flavour were just right, and it was delicious. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. They have a great menu, and I’m excited to try more on my next visit. I highly recommend it.

Brought my American parents here and the food was fantastic. Dishes can be adjusted to whatever spice level you’re comfortable with, and a great variety of dishes. Service was wonderful, and we recommend the lamb biryani and saag aloo!
