We had lunch here for the first time on a recent Sunday. It was not busy, perhaps because at 1:30 pm, it had passed the busy lunch hours? Instead of leading us to a table, we were told to sit wherever we wanted. We ordered two dishes. Chicken with chili was good with tender chicken and the spiciness we asked for. But Beef chow fun was too salty and didn't hit the mark. No one came to check whether everything was ok or to refill the water. Portion size and price were fair.

Google
Food was good! Staff was friendly. Overall clean and good atmosphere. Bank vault is cool. Soup dumplings didn’t really have soup in them. But food was decent and my stomach is happy

Google
It’s ok. The food was fine. The service was not great and the entire place was nearly empty. There were 6-8 delivery bike riders clogging the entry way. If you need ok food it’s fine but not worth comming back here.

The environment is clean and hygienic, the space is spacious, there’s a wide variety of dishes, and the flavors are great. The service is friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!👍🏼 And It’s best to dine in, as the food doesn’t taste as good when it’s taken to-go and eaten later at home.

James Mullin

Google
I’m giving a 5 stars because the food was great. And the space was so big. A lot of delivery orders were swarming the restaurant when we ate there so I’d maybe give a tip to them to make sure their dine-in customers aren’t waiting too long for the tab.

Google
Authentic northern Chinese cuisine with reasonable prices. Try their crab pork soup dumplings and roast duck. Beats going to Chinatown!

Google
Ordered dan dan noodles, bok choy with black mushrooms and shrimp chow fun. Dan dan noodles were the best I ever had and chow fun noodles were awesome along with the delicious bok choy and black mushrooms. Run to this delicious place do not walk. We will be back again very soon. Staff and Kevin were awesome to deal with. Loved it!!!+

Yelp
Not sure why the reviews are low for this place, as I've only ever had great tasting food here. And, for the price and portions, it's truly a great value! I especially love their sour pickled fish filet dish. I love how they incorporate glass noodles in it, totally elevates the dish. Don't think you can find a better sour pickled fish than this in JC! The stir fried green beans were also super flavorful, which I think can be hard to get right sometimes, but this passed the test. The servers here are always so friendly also. I highly recommend supporting this local gem. They have an extensive menu and anything you could ever possibly crave!

Yelp
This was a decent place for a simple afternoon lunch. The interior has a nice vibe and is very spacious. I ordered mei fun rice noodles and it was fresh and tasty. Wasn't oily and I enjoyed the fresh veggies. I will be coming back to try other options if I'm in the area. I'm think of trying the Bullfrog entree next time.

Yelp
My family and I dined here and enjoyed everything! As soon as the server, so on my son, she brought over kids plate, water, cup, and cutlery, which was very thoughtful. When I ordered wonton soup as an appetizer, they also brought out an extra small bowl and spoon so that my son could have some too. The chong qing chicken was outstanding, the chicken fried rice was good, and we also got a pork belly dish which was the highlight of the meal. My husband got some sort of juice which was also really good. Overall, no complaints, we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
So, we ordered some options from this restaurant to try out their food. Delivery was simple and the food came nice and hot. Here's the stand out.....the lamb pan fried dumplings.....holy cow, unbelievable! The Chicken Pad Thai was a close second! The Sesame Chicken and General Tso Chicken were also great! The scallion pancakes were a bit greasy but savory. While I don't know how the restaurant appears or looks, takeout was definitely delicious. I'm all in to order again. I just want to sit home and eat the dumplings.

Yelp
Taste of North China has changed so much!!! The food has gotten so much better!! Inside, they remodeled and painted and it's much more pleasing to the eyes now!! Last couple times I came I tried new things on the menu like Peking duck, pork knuckle, spicy fish clay pot, and everything was so good!! Sometimes I order take out from here and you need to legit order an hour in advance there are so many people ahead of you!! They also serve bubble tea now, although with all the new ones in the area, it is not my favorite but in a pinch it will do!!!

Yelp
Didn't get to take a picture of the soup dumplings but they were delicious! We ordered it again after our meals. It's a very nice, quiet place and the service was fast.

Yelp
Food (4/5): We ordered the Sliced beef in hot wok and the Mushroom and beef in sour soup. Both were delicious but my favorite was definitely the mushroom and beef soup. The tanginess and flavors in the soup were absolutely amazing and mega delicious. The sliced beef was also good with many of the cuts being tender and not too much fat. The only reason the restaurant is losing a star instead of getting 5 stars is because my stomach started hurting the morning after eating here. Not sure if perhaps there was some sanitation or other issue with the food resulting in this. Service (4/5): No issues with the delivery and they provided all the utensils and items requested. Ambiance (NA): Ordered takeout so not sure about the ambiance of the restaurant but interested in checking it out.

Yelp
I didn't take photos because I didn't think the food was going to be as good as it was....The food was amazing! Everything we had was absolutely delish & I cannot wait to go back to try more. The service was quick and the server was great. It wasn't very busy when we went (early dinner), but it gets busier as the night progresses. You can call ahead to make a resy! This would be a great spot for a bigger group. Update: I went back and took some photos! Dan Dan noodles are great, general tsos is great and the pecking duck is delish!

Yelp
Reviews for this place were all over the map so I wasn't sure what to expect, but the food is delicious and plentiful. My date and I ordered soup, dumplings, pork dumplings, wonton soup, kung pao chicken, and pan fried noodles with roast pork. It was way too much food for two people and we brought most of it home. The soup dumplings were a bit of a disappointment. I've had much better and I was really looking forward to some good ones so they were the only mess. The wonton soup was great, not the typical takeout style. The Kung Pao chicken was very hot, very spicy. It had a lot of heat and I don't think we were expecting it, but it went well with the rice. One thing I will say is that both the Kung Pao chicken and the roast pork in the pan fried noodles were cut so small that it was hard to really appreciate the pieces of chicken or meat. They give you a great amount of vegetables in these dishes and each one is enough for two people. Service was slow because they were very busy, and the takeout window was slammed. Everyone was very nice and they did refill our glasses of hot jasmine tea. I would definitely come here again, but not for the soup dumplings.

Yelp
Tl;dr: Great food at a great price point. Good American Chinese and good traditional dishes too. GET THE CRISPY TASTY DICED CHICKEN. THEY ARE NOT LYING ABOUT THE TASTY PART. I've only ever eaten here in person once, but it's lovely in there! Big windows and cute decor. The service is good, too. I, however, mostly order takeout or delivery and it's lovely. I will admit it closes pretty early, which is probably the only thing I don't like about it. I've had a ton of the things here, but the standout dish is the crispy tasty diced chicken. It's just perfect. Actually perfect. But the standard American Chinese foods are great too--we regularly order the sesame chicken and it's great. I also like their scallion pancakes, their string beans, and their mapo tofu. It's my favorite Chinese place in Jersey City, and I'm so sad I no longer live down the street from it.

Yelp
Spacious interior and friendly service. Came on a Friday night and it was pretty full but we still got seated immediately. It looked like there were also quite a few people waiting by the front counter for takeout. The food came pretty quickly once we ordered. Thoughts on several dishes: -Chicken with Chili: my family liked this a lot! Appreciated that it wasn't too fried and had a great flavor with hints of peanut. -Steamed Crab Meat dumplings: we tried them as they looked so scrumptious in the pictures; they were decent, though they didn't have a lot of soup. -Soft Bean Curd Fish Fillet: pretty good, and the spicy sauce had a nice flavor, though it was a bit thick. The tofu texture was still quite soft though felt a little firmer than typical soft bean curd (dou hua). -Eggplant with Garlic Sauce: unfortunately I was not a fan, as it seems that they peel the eggplant and then bread/fry them, and each eggplant piece felt like it had more of the fried part than actual eggplant; the sauce itself was a little too sweet as well.

Yelp
If you are vegan or vegetarian I highly recommend to get steamed veggie dumpling... Terrific!! It's so hard to find vegan / vegetarian dumpling that tastes and look great... Ask spicy oil and soy sauce; for some reason they don't serve those unless you ask!
google avatar

Vick V.

Yelp
The tso's couldn't be more mediocre. Way too sweet. Light color sauce. Ginger in it. Dan Dan noodles had too much sauce. Idk dawg. Idk.
google avatar

Yelp
SLOOOOOOW! Service is sooooo slow... omg Took awhile to get water and ask for help Ordered soup dumplings and beef and broccoli Beef and broccoli came out first and it was good. Typical beef and broccoli Soup dumplings came out COLD! Soooo disappointing. We asked for to go containers and check and that took awhile too..

Yelp
UberEats Review. I and my spouse drove past this restaurant earlier in the day and said "wow, that looks like a pretty good place" and we decided to try them out by ordering. I was very impressed when I got the food. I normally order from another Chinese food spot in Jersey City but I think I'll be hooked on this spot now. The food was so savory and flavorful here. It's not salty or dry, everything really tasted so fresh. I was really impressed. I cook a lot so I can tell when something is microwaved or not. Most Chinese food places don't taste like this place. This blows other places out of the water. The dumplings were juicy, the chicken was savory along with the lo mein with beef. Everything was also neat with a stapled brown bag. The only con, if any, would be that none of these dishes include rice. You have to order that separately. But, honestly, it's only $1.50 last time I checked. I actually had rice at home in my rice cooker so I didn't really mind. Overall, really good food. Definitely my new Chinese food spot. I may even stop by the physical location because the ambiance there appeared to be really nice. Also, I'm sure their service is just as good as the food was.

Yelp
Really subpar Chinese, but it is cheap. The delivery took forever that Uber Eats reimbursed me - but that may be delivery's fault. I did see that this restaurant turned off their delivery after my order so they may have been busy as well Sesame chicken tasted fine, like any kind of Americanized Chinese place. Pork dumplings weren't very flavorful. Probably won't order again due to delivery and quality, but if you like cheap Chinese it definitely does the job.

Yelp
Food wise 3 stars - nothing spectacular, but 4 for service My dad and I stopped in here for lunch on a quiet Sunday. I was mostly unfamiliar with the dishes since I don't frequent these kinds of Chinese restaurants close and left the decision making to my dad. Bless the waiter for his patience and his ability to decipher what my dad was trying to say and helping him compromise with me The food was fairly decent, but the cumin lamb was definitely a bit heavier than expected on the cumin. Overall, not a bad experience. The restaurant itself is a gorgeous space with high ceilings and open space.
google avatar

Yelp
Well, what can I say, nothing really. Find another spot. Unless you like your food to look and taste the same going in as it does going out...
google avatar

Chris F.

Yelp
Absolutely awful. All breading no meat. This place is a disgrace. One of the more expensive as well.
google avatar

Meaghan G.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I always pass by this restaurant and say that we want to try it. I had a good deal on Door Dash, so we ordered on the app with a discount. My boyfriend ordered the pork buns and dan dan noodles - he said they were both ok. I ordered the dan dan noodles with no meat and the general tso's tofu. After trying dan dan noodles at a place where they make the noodles fresh, the quality at Taste of North China could not compare and I would even say the noodles were overcooked. The tofu was nothing special either (this may have been affected by it being take out since it was sitting in a hot container). We probably won't order from here again, but glad that we tried it.
google avatar

Xu D.

Yelp
Food is okay, but pick up and delivery are extremely slow. You need to order the food 1 hour in advance.
google avatar

Eric H.

Yelp
This place is ok...nothing too crazy but the food is authentic and the menu has a big selection of items to choose from. Being that this restaurant is in Jersey City, it is priced a bit higher than what I would normally expect from a place like this. It may be a little bias as there are many options to choose from across the river in Manhattan. We ordered some dumplings, a pork dish, a chicken dish and some string beans. Overall the food tasted good. The portion size seemed small but looks were deceiving as the dishes we ordered got me and my friends full. The sauce on the pork dish was a little thick. The ambiance of the place was very open...as in there was a lot of open space, high ceilings, nice spacing between tables, etc. overall, I would go back to this place for a meal if it were with a group of friends though I would not go out of my way for it.

Yelp
We get takeout from here weekly. Our favorites are the: Wintermelon pork rib soup - full of melon, meat and glass noodles Pork and egg congee- they don't skimp on the egg Szechuan boiled fish filet - not too spicy and the bean sprouts they add are a great addition of crunch Cumin lamb - always tender and juicy The one miss is the beef chow foon, this was lacking flavor for us and me being Cantonese was not a fan. Will have to go to Chinatown for this dish. Otherwise, food is always flavored well with good portion sizes. We were happy to find an authentic Chinese place in jersey city!
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
High expectations turns normally worst rates. Had the beef brisket to go and it was meh. Taste was good although on the salty side(ok given that it pairs well with white rice) Now, this dish had more tendon (which needed more cooking time) than actual beef pieces. Going to pick it up and paying ~$22.95 pretax for it, it is too pricey.

Yelp
I used to order food here every couple weeks. Before there was a young lady at the front desk, she was OK, but now there is a guy with glass, he's extremely rude! The food used to be good, but seems they changed the chef, and now it's very disappointing. The chicken with chili小米爱上小公鸡, no chili, only has some scallions, and chicken isn't juicy. Fired pork in orange sauce锅包肉, too much starch and very dry. Very disappointed!

Vixz S.

Yelp
Food might be great but I will never know , being that there a low quality of service & poor attitude provided at the front desk by a older Asian male wearing glasses & a nice pointy tail. Uber / Lyft drivers be aware and local downtown Patrons.

Yelp
To quote myself, 3 out of 5 on Yelp isn't good, it's not a work performance review. I'm surprised to see this rating since I've enjoyed all my Uber Eats orders. Pork and vegetables wontons in spicy chili sauce was a fine selection. That, plus the hot and sour soup cured my cold, at least temporarily. (*the FDA notes that there is no official cure for the common cold). The dan dan noodles aren't especially ornate but the sauce is effective.

Yelp
Great Chinese food in general. It's delicious to have it once in a while per se as a non-heavy food eater. The taste, proportion and prices are reasonable! It locates in a CBD area where close to Exchange Light rail station. Good to try!
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
One of the best Chinese food options in the area. We've dined in once on a week night and the place was definitely not busy. You will get seated right away. However, since COVID, we've gotten takeout from here a bunch of times. They do a good amount of takeout business and during dinnertime there's always some delivery app people waiting and customers like us who come to pick it up. You can order online or call in your order. There might be more flexibility to order what the website doesn't have if you call. Not everything is on their website. There's a variety of dishes you can get from authentic chinese dishes to chinese american dishes. Decent value for the amount of food you get.

Yelp
Such a pleasure to drop by after coming home from a long commute. Flavorful with fermented black beans and dried chilies. Perfectly spiced to bring warmth to the wintery season. I paired it with jasmine tea. Service was quick, meal was quick....a great go to simple meal.
google avatar

Kevin Z.

Yelp
I've been going here once a month and I feel like they do not read anything on their order slips. I always get less oil, less salt, less spice, but it has always been the same oil, salt, and spice as the first time, when I didn't click these options. So I think they just make the dry pot the same way no matter what. Which is still delicious, but it'd be more delicious if they read the instructions.

Yelp
I ordered two phone order lunch specials today at 12:19 PM. Tomato egg rice and curry chicken rice They told me that I can come in 15-20 minutes to pick up my order. However, after the arrival, they told me that the order has not ready yet and the order should be out from the kitchen very soon. After additional 20 minutes wait, they told me they forgot to cook my tomato egg rice. Finally, I got my order at 1:10PM. That's total 53 minutes wait and they told me was only 15 minutes. I complained about the wait time to the host. But they do not know how to do the business and did not provide any compensation. It is a total terrible restaurant. I'll never go back.

Emily T.

Yelp
Not sure why these reviews are so low considering this is the most authentic and delicious Chinese food in the entirety of Jersey City. Seems like many of these other lower reviews are outdated. 10/10 would come again and again!
google avatar

Luke S.

Yelp
He took it personally. My friend and I ordered food from here. When it arrived I wanted to eat outside. I invited him to come, but he said it was too hot. I decided to still go outside and eat alone. It was nothing against him, I just needed to be outside. When I finished my food and went back in, I knew something was off. He was acting different. I think he felt like I was choosing the outside over him. I tried to say how it wasn't personal, but it kind of was. I love my friend, but if I had to choose to never hang out with him again or to never go outside again, the choice would be clear. I need my Vitamin D. Then I tried to say it wasn't him, I wouldn't have had that meal inside with anyone...that wasn't entirely true though. If Steph Curry happened to knock on the door with some food and suggested we eat inside and play some NBA 2k, I'd probably stay inside. The more I thought about it, the more I realized there was no way my friend could not take this personally. Anyway, even though this food caused some drama, it was still worth it.

Yelp
I had ordered garlic sauce, but they gave me brown sauce, and then when I called about their mistake, they argued with me that I had not, indeed, ordered garlic sauce. Then she went into a long explanation about how I had ordered sauce on the side, but didn't say which sauce. But I HAD said which sauce. It was obvious on my order that I had ordered garlic sauce. The woman then tried to tell me she would text me with my order, so I could see that I hadn't ordered garlic sauce. I said "no" I will text YOU with a screen shot of the order which shows that I did order garlic sauce. So I texted her the screenshot, and then she called and apologized and sent someone with my garlic sauce for my cold food. If she hadn't argued with me, I would have rated them better. This was horrible customer service, arguing with me. And now I think when the guy delivers my garlic sauce, I'm not going to eat it. These people sound a little vindictive, so now I can't trust that they haven't done something to it. Never ordering from them again.
google avatar

Claire Y.

Yelp
Hard to find street parking around the place. Overall, the food is pretty decent in terms of authenticity. Size is very generous. Has a good amount of variety, also offers decent bubble tea/fruit tea options. Nothing stand out, but not bad overall. Would come back.

Yelp
Oy I was scared. A lot of spots around this area are no longer open or good, or worth the money any more. And I forgot to bring lunch so I went with a spot I figured would keep up with good-nissss. They did. Steamed chicken with chili sauce. Golden! I wanna run home with it and dump it on some rice or noodles in a giant bowl while watching tv. A few bites and I hummed about its goodniss. Sichuan cold noodles. Oh My! what a sauce! noodles perfect texture, and just mixing it up you can smell all the goodniss you're about to eat. Not ice cold & clammy, and I know imma snack on it and be sad when it's gone. Sesame Chicken with white rice. Had a craving. Didn't expect a whole lot, just lumps of fried chicken lumps with a sauce that will work well with white rice. Well, the chicken was a nice flavor, but the texture kinda chewy. Maybe its the way they reheated it, it didn't seem the freshest, but the flavor was on point. I'll prolly chop it up and make a pan full of fridge leftovers with it and it'll be great with the sesame sauce enhancing the dish. Total was $35, but they give you enough to share and I hadn't been in there in sooo long, I felt it's hella worth it. Glad I got a place in the area I can go to when I need a good meal.

Yelp
The place is near by New Jersey's city and Hudson River, the restaurant is like authentic Northern flavor food that I have eaten in Beijing and Qingdao before, Chinese like to eat Kidney of animals, so the Sauteed Pig Kidney is our must-eat, the second I recommend is fried three vegetables, these veges are local plants in east north of China, and it comes with oyster sauce and soy sauce. The Beijing duck and fried meat dumpling is fine, they not special for us.I am a fan of bubble milk tea, I order zero sugar bubble milk tea, actually it tastes sweet but not too much. By the way,the waiter service is very nice.
google avatar

DOPETASTIC Q.

Yelp
I had such high hopes for this place because northern Chinese restaurants are hard to come by since it's so provincial. Boy was I disappointed. They ran out of egg plants (a summer staple) fine. I asked foe green peppers, the dish comes out with hot.fine maybe they were busy or short handed. I asked again for green peppers the dish comes out without any peppers. "We don't have any bell peppers" but no one said that when i asked for rhe substitution. It was UNEDIBLE. The traditionally vegetarian dish comes out with pork (!!!) as final insult the manager or owner comes yelling at me "we are a Sichuan restaurant and we never have bell peppers" and that seals the deal. Maybe their Sichuan is good but DONT COME HERE FOR 东北

Samuel D.

Yelp
Wonderful cuisine. It's always a treat when eating at Taste of North China. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This place has THE best Chinese food that I've ever had in my life, and I am an aficionado in this realm. Ordered the beef chow fun, pork fried rice and chicken with green beans - all of them were 10/10! Just the right amount of salt and exploding with flavor, but also not greasy at all. Just overall perfectly done and portions were a great size. Daniel was our waiter and he was amazing. Can't wait to come back here!

Amy L.

Yelp
Came here during CNY, It was busy but we still got some of our orders. Ordered lychee green tea. Shanghai pork and crab Xiao long bao, Szechuan dandan noodles, and Beijing Peking duck. For the Peking duck we ordered half, and it was good for two people, they ran out of buns so we got rice. Szechuan dandan noodles was really good, full of flavor and spice. The soup dumplings/ Xiao long bao didn't have much soup, but over all the taste is there. Lychee green tea was really good, 10/10 would recommend their drinks. (All this was for two people) Service was great on a busy night and the waitress checked up on us often despite being really busy. Great for groups! Portion size can be improved on.

Yelp
Super good, fast, reasonably priced Chinese in downtown JC. Incredibly consistent too which is hard to find in other Chinese restaurants in the area

Jennifer C.

Yelp
My go to Chinese in Jersey City. Total comfort food. I love the soups and dumplings. Great delivery.
google avatar

Gabrielle C.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. Ordered about 52$ worth of take out food only for it all to look old and stale, soggy spring rolls, and receive a box of moldy rice. Don't even feel comfortable drinking the bubble tea since they clearly don't care about their food quality so the milk is probably spoiled. This place should be shut down.
google avatar

Yelp
Authentic and delicious! Super friendly staff. Would recommend. Some of my favorites: Dan Dan Noddle Steamed pork soup dumplings Pan Fried Pork Buns Tian Jiang Style Wonton Soup Sautéed Bean Leaf with Garlic Green Bean Sheet Jelly with Assorted Vegetables

Yelp
Chinese restaurant in Jersey City with take out options. Food is ok - they have recently increased prices by a lot though. Last two times we ordered delivery, the food arrived very late.

Yelp
Today is the 2nd time this week I am ordering from this place. Looks like they just dumped the noodles in with very little effort. I used to eat in this restaurant and used to love their food. I am very disappointed. This is not up to standard at all.
