Taste of Rondo Bar & Grill

What a fun little place to go. It sits within the residential neighborhood and very open and airy! Went on Tuesday night at 5 pm and their were 10 of us. Mika helped us and was an excellent server! All the food was good including the peach cobbler. Before we left a trio came and played some jazz for us, what a cool surprise! This place is a gem!

When I tell you the food was so good... believe it! You will not be disappointed. We had a variety of dishes so that we can sample. The catfish, collard greens, grits and shrimp was cooked just right. I am from New Orleans, so I know good food when I tastes it. The atmosphere was relaxing and we met the owners who were personable. Give yourself a treat and try "A Taste Of Rondo". That's what's up!

Good food and vibe. Black owned business with the owner doing all the cooking. I came to this spot for my birthday. Its not a big space but enough space for a good vibe. First Friday of the month has a live band as well. The food was pretty good. The waiter disappeared on us so the owner came to our rescue. I would of gave the restaurant 3 stars but with the owner fixed the taco issue, so I give it 5 stars. I will be back on a first Friday.

100/10 I HIGHLY recommend dining here. I went on a Wednesday evening when they had karaoke. It was incredible. You could feel the love and the sense of community here. The owners are SO sweet and attentive. Staff is beyond friendly. And the wings and fries were to die for! Our group only ordered one cocktail and it was strong but delicious. Overall, I loved everything about this place and definitely recommend trying it out. This was my first time but definitely not the last time.

Ordered mac and cheese and they essentially gave me boiled but dry seasoned noodles literally NO type of cheese unless that was the red seasoning thrown on top. Chicken was good a little salty but good. Greens were "just okay" nothing to shout out about them. They replaced the Mac that she said was "unsellable" (she was the same one who put it on my table, smh) with semi-rubbery cornbread (microwaved too long, I guess) I ate the chicken paid bill left the rest. This was my third and last try at their food, unfortunately. Gave a second star based on the chicken being good and that it's a nice atmosphere to eat in and black owned. Servers were nice as well, she knew my stuff wasn't done right and I beleive tried to make it right but I was done. Lol

We had such a great experience at Taste of Rondo! We loved the atmosphere. The decor on the walls really showed the history of the neighborhood. The chairs were really comfortable, and there's a large outdoor patio as well. You HAVE to try their macaroni and cheese! It has a delicious blend of spices and is probably the best macaroni I've had. We also had the collard greens with pork, the smoked Gouda grits and the Central Avenue burger. Definitely add the bacon to your burger, it was super crispy and flavorful. For a cocktail, I had the Rondo Avenue Punch. It was delicious and very boozy, but didn't taste alcohol heavy. We went on a Wednesday, so it was karaoke night. The woman running karaoke played all of our favorite 90s and 2000s songs and had an amazing singing voice. The service was excellent. Our server was super friendly, our food came out fast, and the owner even stopped by our table to check on how we were doing. We will definitely go back to Taste of Rondo!

So good!! I’m a fan of Taste of Rondo! We ordered shrimp and grits, crab cakes, soup of the day which was brisket soup, shrimp etouffe, and a catfish po boy. All of it was amazing. No photos of the po boy because it got destroyed way too fast. Po boy was so good. I think it was the flavor of the batter and the special sauce. We went with our son for an early dinner. The juke box was loud and got a few people up and dancing. We would definitely go back!

I mean, just look at the pics. I don't like grits. Or collard greens. But here? The most delicious, creamy grits. And the wings (not pictured, already eaten) with bourbon sauce are to die for. Definitely worth a visit. Or two. Or 50.

I'm so glad a local business reflecting the Rondo community and culture opened up in St. Paul. The atmosphere and decoration of this place was so cool and well thought out. Although the service was slow and getting things like silverware and ordering took a whole- one of the staff apologize and gave us and extra side of collards on the house, which was nice. Now for the food- I think there some work but a lot of potential. The pickle and the fried catfish was very flavorful, seasoned well and delicious- I wish I had more! I would definitely come back for the catfish! Plenty of street parking around the neighborhood.

Mmmm..... I've sat on this review for a while because I wanted to support the business by not even mentioning the situation. I really wanted to like this place. I heard so many good things and I like to support #blackbusinesses , buuuut... Let's start with the good. Food: I had the catfish dinner was fiyah! #flatout Ambiance: They have live music, a patio (which was poppin full of beautiful melanated and non-melanated ppl.) It was clean, bathroom included and had a full bar. The entire venue packed by the end of the night. Service: Here lies the problem: my server. She was completely not professional and had an attitude problem. I placed my order first and received my food last. When I say last, I mean i received my plate almost an HOUR later than everyone else at my table. Secondly, I asked if anyone knew how to make a sidecare there. Now I know not all restaurants make them, know how to or have the ingredients to do so... so I asked in ADVANCE. Shorty said yes. I said ok. What she brought back was not a sidecar and was not tasty, but I because it packed and she lied, but TRIED to make me happy, after knowing I wasn't happy, but didn't say anything harsh re: my food other than "where was it" I just said it was good. My gf tried it and liked it so we traded drinks. Here comes the problem: when shorty saw that I had traded the drink, why did she become offended???? As long as I didn't complain and PAID for my drink there should have been no problems, but she had one. I just looked at her crazy and continued to drink my traded beverage because I was too old and too much of a customer to waste my time explaining to someone who had brought me an hour late plate about why I wasn't drinking my drink. Would I come back??? IDK.. maybe for music or a to go plate.

The greens tasted canned. They were out there of a bunch of things. The mashed potatoes tasted instant. But the catfish was good. The drinks are great. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be back.

I liked the story of the restaurant, so I wanted to check it out. My server was incredibly sweet and nice! I ordered the etouffee, I've never had it before so I have no idea what it's supposed to taste like, but it was good. It was much sweeter than I had anticipated, but still very good. I loved the vibe of the whole place. Will probably go back in the summer to enjoy the patio.

The establishment is a nice place but there are some improvements needed such as the waiting area needs to be decluttered. It is winter why wasnt the heat going literally was up in there eating with my coat on. This is a new spot from what I am told and giving the job market not many folks are out jumping for jobs. Our waitress which I believe her name was Jamillah anyways she was so dope from her knowledge of the neighborhood and history like everything you cannot beat having her serve you at all. I give the for 4 stars and here is why when I said fry my fish hard they fried that boy hard. The food was seasoned well I said these folks cant be from Minnesota because ummm we all know Minnesota is not known for soul food and making sure its seasoned to where you think your grandma cooked it. The grits were good could have used a little bit more butter. The cornbread was cold next time serve it warm so the honey butter can roll off to the side. Check them out!

Great idea, poorly managed and ran. On two separate occasions I was seated and given a menu, then later told the kitchen was closed. Both times were at least 3-4 hours before they're posted closing time. The food is pretty good when they have it or feel like cooking. Once, I was told they ran out of food and she "wasn't going to cook anymore". The first time I went, I was blown away. Unfortunately, the next 5-6 times all the issues I described happened. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt. The last visit was the final straw. Hopefully, someone can step up and make the necessary changes. It could be a great place with a service/culture overhaul.

I went here with my partner for our anniversary. The food was amazing. they ordered the Fried Chicken with Mac and cheese and collard greens. I had the Shrimp Étouffée. I was blown away by the flavors in the collard greens. They were incredible. Everything was so flavorful and balanced. we also split the peach cobbler and that was equally good. Everyone should try this ace, you will not be disappointed.

I had a beautiful time here. I ate delicious food -- fried chicken, corn bread and Mac n cheese. The jazz group made it even more eventful. Ms. Dorothy "The sky's the limit" performance was breath taking.

Tasty food, friendly staff, wonderful ambiance! AND I love supporting local businesses that are building peace in our community.

I've had Taste of Rondo four times now and it's never disappointed. In fact, the first time I had the Sunday Mama's potroast, I had to have Taste of Rondo again the next week. The potroast is my favorite but I've also devoured the shrimp etouffee, collard greens, catfish, and several brunch items. Treat yourself and get Taste of Rondo! One tip: be patient as pickup orders may take a bit longer. It's worth itthough!

The food was delicious and the wait staff was wonderful. Everything was great until the DJ CAME!!! He DESTROYED the entire mood. It is sad when you don't know your audience. BEFORE he arrived we had a WHOLE VIBE going with a mix of R&B, Oldies and Rap. But this dude with his lack of awareness cleared the place out because of his INABILITY to shift to accommodate the crowd that was present. It was about him and his playlist and the crowd he was anticipating to come not the customers who were already there. We will make sure a live band is playing the next time. Because that "Cat" was NOT IT!

Great food. Friendly people. If you want your soul food fix, I can highly recommend the Taste.

l purchased a Groupon for this place because my soul needed some soul food! As soon as I pulled up, call it woman intuition but I almost traded the Groupon for something else. I had a feeling it was not going to be good.. I had read the reviews and most of them were terrible but I wanted to give the place a chance. I like to support minority businesses and I really wanted some soul food. The building is beautiful, the patio is perfect and filled with fireplace tables. I chose to sit on the patio and the server was sweet with a little touch of silly. I started with a margarita which sadly, ended up being the best part of my experience. The Food~ Catfish~One piece for $16? which ended up to be OK because the catfish was not fully cooked. I still feel a little queasy over it. Fried Chicken~ Good but tasteless... at least it was cooked all the way through. Cornbread~ One of the better items.. you get a nice slice and it had hot honey on it but it really tasted more like some type of oil. Greens with Pork~I usually don't like greens but these were pretty good. Gouda Grits~ very bland.. Black Eyed Peas and Rice~Bland The sides are rather large as you can see in my photo. Service was ridiculously slow... it truly took about an hour to get our food. The server never checked back with us. No offer of any condiments like hot sauce. No refilling of waters. I would have had another margarita but was never asked. A gentleman came to sit at a table next to ours, waited about a half hour and then got up and left because nobody came to wait on him. Our server was MIA for about 45 minutes. We had to get another server so we could get our bill. Overall, it was just a terrible experience and I would never recommend anybody going here. It's really sad because the patio is beautiful and I can see much potential. I think they should just stick with drinks and appetizers. I believe the fresh frying of the chicken and the catfish etc. etc. slows them down. This place seriously needs Chef Ramsey to come in and rescue it!!

One of my very favorite spots in St Paul! The food these fine folks are cooking up not only holds a candle to some of best I've had down south, but honestly I don't think I've ever had a better Po'boy sandwich. It's incredible. The Shrimp and grits with gouda, and their fried chicken were also top notch. And if you're drinking...you must try the delicious (but boozy) Rondo Punch. We always have a great time here and Kay and her crew go above and beyond on the service tip. Highly recommend.

Me and my family have tried to be supportive to this small business. Tonight will be our last night visiting. We waited for 30 minutes to be told their kitchen was closed. Customer service is extremely poor and they are always running out of food.

I went in between lunch and dinner. Sort of the "happy hour" time. Food was still delicious, it's a semi open kitchen, so I got to see my food cooked. The food was solid. Delivered on chicken, we'll seasoned. Corn bread was best part.

Nice setup but the food and service were not so nice. First, they didn't have half of the items that were on the menu. No non-alcoholic beverages to offer but 7-up that was only carbonated water. The waitress kept giving my Daughter dirty looks because she asked for a different drink which ended up being orange juice. The salt and pepper shakers were dirty ! The sides were awful, except the greens. Spent over $100 and didn't eat more than a few bites. Never to return!

Went to this place and met with the owner I didn't try any of their food but the customer service and the decor was spot on. Everyone was willing to share information about this newly established restaurant. It was wonderful, they have an event room that I believe holds up to 16 guest comfortably. I am basing this review on the record and the wonderful customer service I received. I'll stop in this week to see if the five star rating remains, I have a feeling it will.

Don't waste your time, 1 hour waiting, they kept saying we are waiting on your wings. As wings ordered after us are served. Waiting on the wings, only means our catfish is chilling. Just go home as we did.

Just phenomenal, get the pork greens and I swear they'll change you. Witt was a great server and there's such a good vibe of everyone in the restaurant you instantly feel comfortable and at home. 1000% will be back and hopeful to make this a regular visit

I was looking for some good food... got it & more. I was solo, sat at the bar. I received a warm welcome from staff & patrons alike. I ordered the shrimp & Gouda grits + Catfish... so yummy. 100% recommended!

My second visit. I ordered the fried Cajun catfish with southern fried potatoes and smoked turkey collard greens. The two large filets were perfectly fried, not greasy and were delicious. The large slices of potato were also not at all greasy and had a great seasoning. The collard greens were at first taste too vinegary for me and yet by the end of the meal they were all gone. My companion ordered the blackened catfish with red beans with rice and smoked Gouda grits. The catfish seasoning was perfect and the grits were creamier than I make them and better flavored. Red beans and rice are a Southern staple and done well. All the side portions were enough to share. I'm looking forward to another trip to try their fried chicken.

We ordered the Fried Chicken. It came with two sides. The chicken was hot and tasty! The two sides were red beans and jasmine rice. The only time I was unhappy was when my fork was empty.

Awesome place to eat and have drinks ! Great food and atmosphere! Owners are awesome!

Went on a Friday night and the place was hopping. As soon as we arrived the hostess did make us aware that in about an hour a band would be playing. We were promptly seated and our drink ordered taken. I ordered the shrimp étouffée, collards, and cornbread, my partner ordered the fried catfish, collards and corn bread. The étouffée was a decent representation of this dish although it could have stood to have a lot more creole sauce, this was a very dry rendition with the sauce mixed into the rice. The greens more than made up for that. They are a slice of Southern soul food that warms this Tennessee girl's heart. The cornbread is more the fluffy, almost a cake what I consider Northern rendition of cornbread. My companion really enjoyed his catfish as well. We will definitely add this to our regular rotation.

Brought friends for dinner. Between us we had fried chicken, blackened catfish and sides including red beans and rice, collard greens, fried and mashed potatoes. Every item was enjoyable. The chicken is moist without being greasy. Catfish is firm and very tasty. All in all a great place to dine.

If you are a fan of good Southern cooking, Taste of Rondo is for you. We both tried the catfish: blackened for my husband and fried for me. Jon's fish was just the right amount of spice and mine was crunchy and tasty, served with a mildly spicy tarter sauce. Good cheesy grits. Good cornbread. The star of the show for me was the collard greens with pork: so good I asked for a spoon to eat the last spoonfuls of pot likker. They have homemade peach cobbler for dessert, but that will have to wait for our next visit. In talking to our server I found out that they will be starting weekend brunch hopefully in a couple of weeks and they plan to have live music. For those of you who like a good cup of coffee with brunch food, Taste has wonderful coffee which is hard to find in the breakfast spots around town. There is also a full bar and a signature drink menu which we plan to try out on a future visit. I suggest that you get over to Taste of Rondo soon, because when all the health restrictions are relaxed (let's hope soon!) I predict it will be hard to snag a table at this jewel of a neighborhood spot.

Coming from Atlanta, GA, I have been skeptical of soul food in the Twin Cities and walked into Rondo with low expectations. Let me tell you something...the food here is amazing! I ordered the wings, blackened catfish, greens, blackeyed peas, and the pot roast (sold only on Sunday). ALL OF THE FOOD had sooo much flavor. The made-to-order fried wings were the perfect crispness and the seasoning was delicious. The greens were made with turkey, juicy, and rich with flavor! They weren't overcooked like some of the greens that I have had in the past. The blackened catfish was cooked to perfection and was topped with a unique blend of seasonings. I had already had fried wings so I figured that I would switch it up a bit...great decision! The pot roast was served with carrots and mashed potatoes and tasted just like back home. My first visit did not disappoint! I will be back FOR SURE!

I love the fact that this place exists, and I've been meaning to try it out for a while. Tonight I had the opportunity, as I'd sort of let the day get away from me without having eaten, and as luck would have it I was also between grocery runs. Starving, and cupboards bare, I turned to Bitesquad and ToR. I ordered the fried chicken, for which I had high expectations, given that it's an $18+ entree. I guess I *can* endorse the value for the price, but if so, only reluctantly. I received two large, meaty chicken breasts, a leg, and a wing. All arrived piping hot, which I appreciated. They must have been fresh out of the fryer to arrive like that. They weren't over-battered nor over-salted, two failings I note from time to time in other places, so kudos to them for that. And I could definitely tell from the flavor and tenderness of the meat that the chicken is brined. But, the batter could have been a little bit more flavorful. You don't need salt to make that happen. The chicken is served with maybe a quarter cup of their pickled veggies--cucumber slices and what I think were either overgrown green beans cut in sections, or edamame, without the seeds inside as far as I could tell (which is good). But what ever they were, they were tough enough despite pickling that rather than invited to eat them, I felt *challenged* to do so. I declined. The cucumbers were tasty though. I paid $10+ for a large macaroni and cheese, hoping to eat half with the chicken, and half for lunch tomorrow. A standard size is $6.50. I'm afraid I'm left wondering whether or not the standard size is one of those plastic relish cups restaurants usually use for sauces and such, because if I got more than a cup for $10, I'll be a monkey's uncle. To be fair, I placed my order at around 8:45pm, and they cease delivery at 9:30. Maybe I got the dregs. And maybe the cost of doing business in a pandemic, especially for a new restaurant, necessitates price inflation. Just the same, I took pains to leave a note on the order that if they were low or out, they could substitute any of the other sides (they're all the same price). Since they didn't substitute, I'm forced to conclude that to them, what I got was $10 worth of mac and cheese. Needless to say, pandemic, close to closing time, or not, I respectfully disagree. Add to that the fact that although it was fairly tasty, and it was clear that there was real cheese somewhere vaguely involved in the process, it was pretty dry. All in all, three stars, or "okay" is accurate. I'll try again in a month or two, and earlier in the day, to widen the overall sample size, and change the review if applicable. I hope I'm able to do so.

Place is definitely covid friendly. They take your temperature and give hand sanitizer. Plus the staff wears their masks. Inside of the restaurant was decorated great. Bar tender was great with the drinks. A few things need some work: -change the frying oil, I could tell that it was old -Mac and cheese is awful. Scrap the recipe and just start over. -bring out the appetizers and drinks at the same time. They brought us the drinks. We then waited 40 mins to get our meal and appetizers at the same time

Felt really safe with their COVID measures. The reason for the low review was the fact that it took almost an hour after ordering to get our food and the place wasn't that busy. Also my husband got his burger 10 minutes after my food arrived - it was just really frustrating at that point. Our waitress was super nice and apologetic when our food came late. The food was amazing - some of the best wings I've ever had with homemade dipping sauce! Mac n cheese was also good. The only thing I have to say is we ordered the large Mac n cheese for $8 and the portion size for the price point and tastiness was not worth it. We will maybe order again but probably just rely on takeout instead of eating in because of the wait time to get our food.

Ordered takeout from Taste Of Rondo. Catfish, c collard greens, grits and peach cobbler. The meal was outstanding! I called ahead and it was ready at the time the said it would when i arrived. I walked inside from the outside patio. There were a number of people enjoying their food and others just socializing. I'll come another time for the nighttime entertainment. I would highly recommend this place based on the food alone.

The food is terrible. Absolutely disgusting. Mac and cheese is not edible or flavorful. The noodles are super soft . Mashed potatoes have been sitting out there cold and runny and the chicken is overly greasy but that's the only thing actually worth while. I'm extremely disappointed I will never return here again . It's over priced and not worth your money. If I could give it a less star I would

We've been waiting to go until the weather got warmer and we could dine outsideon the patio. Well, there was a private party on the patio, but the overall experience made us forget that we didn't get to be outside on a beautiful day. We had the etouffee as a main dish and large sides of greens, grits, and red beans with rice to split, and we were both really happy with our choices (I could eat the red beans and rice every single day). Like some other people have said, the service is a bit slow, so just be prepared because it'll be worth the wait. We're already looking forward to our next visit to try out a few more dishes.

Menu is very limited. Went in at around 830pm the waitress told us it was busy. It was only 3 other tables taken outside. Wife ordered a burger but they didn't have buns. WOW they open at 3pm. She ordered the catfish basket. More breading and the fish didn't taste fresh. I ordered the buttermilk chicken. Came with 2 wings and 3 very over cooked scraps called thighs. The cook overcooked the thighs cause he wanted to make sure they were done. Very disappointed

I know it was opening day and since I was visiting I was really keen on supporting a minority business. Nasty! Cold! How do you mess up a polish sausage? It had one onion. Like really one onion. It had one pepper! Like really one pepper! It was cold! I didn't want to write the review because they are a new establishment and I was a visiting. Maybe these mishaps were a fluke. I don't know. But no one should be served cold food. I am cheering for them and I hope they get it together. But until I return to the Twin Cities the one star remains.

What a find! Very friendly staff. Started with the Rondo Bloody Mary that had a chicken wing accompanying it and a Ronda punch. Yum! Ordered 6 wings with bbq and blue cheese sauce and I'm not a big chicken wing lover but I didn't use the sauce (bbq sauce is a food group to me and theirs was good). Smoked hot link served Chicago dog style yes I will order again. Jerk chicken salad - restored my faith in chicken not being overcooked and the jerk seasonings was really good. If anything maybe a little more jerk but the lettuce was crisp and lots of good stuff maybe a little more dressing would have been better. Macaroni and cheese shells where creamy and the southern greens where very tender and nicely fatty. Yes we will be back

First time at Rondo, they have a great patio, strong drinks, delicious wings, friendly service, and the best peach cobbler. I will be back. Great addition to the neighborhood.

We ate dinner at Taste of Rondo after it first opened in the summer of 2020. They were extremely careful of COVID precautions, which we appreciated. My husband and I went out to only one restaurant last summer, and this was the one: It was my birthday. I ate the catfish sandwich; it was delicious and the service was great! There was also live music -the blues- which we loved, and everything was perfect. I definitely want to go back this summer to try out many more specialties!

Been here a few times now, have brought friends and family as well try to support and eat locally owned establishments. The owner was rude to me the last time I went there, spoke to him on first name basis . I was not acknowledged or even looked at, this isn't the first time. Makes me not want to go anymore spending my money when treated that way .

I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately i couldn't. Waited for 5 minutes for a server to bring us water. We wanted tap beer and they said they were out so we ordered 2 bottles of beer. It took over ten minutes to bring the beer and they were just dropped off by waitress and she took off in a flash evnthough we were ready to order. Over ten minutes again to see the waitress and she comes to take our order. We wanted to get crabcake appetizer. Again item is "not available today". So we order a chicken sandwich and catfish po'boy. 20 mimutes later she brings my chicken sandwich but not the other sandwich. The chicken seasoning was good, the chicken overcooked and fries were good but I don't know if I should be rudely eating why other person waits on there food or let mine get cold. almost 10 minutes later for other sandwich. We ask for two more beers and guess what 10 minute wait again. Unfortunately they don't quite have their act together. Oh yeah, the catfish once arrived was pretty good although again like the chicken a little dry.

This is the only nice place near grand ave that actually seasons the food. Expect high quality ingredients, technique, creativity, and an actual palate. The shrimp etouffe came with a wonderfully spicy, tangy, rich sauce. It was the kind of sauce you could never have enough of. The catfish basket was so French, with an incredibly flavorful and crispy breading. But the real masterpiece was the crab cakes. I still wonder how they achieved the perfect flakey crust and juicy center. Again, this place knows how to season. I wouldn't change the crab cakes one bit. A week later and I am still dreaming about those crab cakes. The staff were all welcoming and helpful with suggestions. It was more expensive but I would much rather spend my money on an upscale dinner here than any other grand Ave joint. Take all my money!

Diverse staff and crowd, I felt comfortable as a queer and POC couple. Staff is friendly and the food is spectacular. I would recommend to anyone and I'll definitely be coming back! Thank you Taste of Rondo for creating a cool space for folks of all backgrounds.

My wife and I were excited to eat at this spot because it's Black-owned and it's in my old neighborhood. They did not disappoint. First, they take COVID seriously. They have a mask policy, took our temps and gave us sanitizer upon entering. The staff was very polite and pleasant. It was Friday night so our server let us know it might take more time for our meals, but it really didn't take any longer than normal. They had live music which was good just a little loud for conversation. So we asked to sit outside. The patio was really nice. For an appetizer we ordered the Wings and they were great! Fresh and seasoned nicely. I wish we would've order more. I ordered the fried catfish meal and my wife ordered the blackened catfish meal. Both were really good. They came with a side of red beans & rice and greens. The greens were very good. They had a nice kick to them too. Red beans and rice could've used more beans. Also I had a cherry coke which was very tasty too. We'll definitely be back! I have my eye on that burger.

My wife and I have ordered takeout from Taste of Rondo twice in the last couple of weeks. Both times we loved our food. The first time we ordered, my wife had the Jerk Chicken Salad and loved it. I had the Shrimp Etouffe. It was different from other Etouffe that I have had. I think the whole dish is normally combined, and here the shrimp and rice were separate. Even though it was different than expected it was very good, excellent sauce. The second time we both ordered the blackened catfish. It was a good choice. The catfish, rice, beans, and greens were all very good. I also had a side of corn bread muffins that were quite tasty.

Today was my second time going to this restaurant. I was disappointed both times. The place was not busy by any means.I waited way over an hour for my food. How one can cook nasty season less chicken wings is beyond me. The other members of my party did not care for their food either. It is a shame that this place even exits. I will never eat here again and I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

This was my first time at the Taste of Rondo. A Friday night run to a fairly new establishment. The food was still fresh and hot when I arrived home. The NO SALT blackened and fried catfish was AMAZING. The aroma hits you before the first bite. The collard greens and red beans and rice was a wonderful mix with the fish. I drank every drop of the potlikker. I wish I had bought more. This was an enjoyable experience. From my greeting at the door, to the fast service and fair prices, I'm sure I will return.

Stopped by last night for takeout. Ordered Shrimp & Grits, Shrimp Etoufee and cornbread. Food was outstanding. I only wish the portions were a little bigger. Had a beer at the bar while I waited for my order. Friendly service, the place is clean and very nicely decorated, very nice landscaping, great curb appeal. Will visit again, highly recommend. Next time will dine in.

We've been wanting to try this restaurant since they opened as they are our 'neighborhood' restaurant. We decided to do takeout and ordered the shrimp po boy, the Rondo burger, wings, mac and cheese and cornbread. We were overall, disappointed. The wings were fantastic and we'd definitely get them again. The po boy was so strange - it was only bread, tomatoes and shrimp. It felt like something was missing or perhaps they forgot the rest of the sandwich? It was extremely dry with only shrimp and tomatoes. However, the shrimp were cooked well and had good flavor. The cornbread was SO dry. It needed to be slathered in butter to be even a little moist. The unfortunate part was that two of us ordered the cornbread and we only got one tiny container of butter and there wasn't nearly enough to go around. The burger was just OK. The mac and cheese was about 70% liquid cheese and the noodles were floating in a puddle. It just seemed odd. We will try them again because I hate judging a restaurant based on takeout food, but overall it was just OK.
