The Best Yemeni Restaurants In London

"The first thing we noticed as we stepped into this narrow spot is the chef rolling out mulawah—a layered, Yemeni flatbread—in the long kitchen that takes up the length of the tight restaurant. Warm, welcoming smiles come from over the counter, as regulars stroll in asking if the motabak is ready (chances are if you come early, it’s not). Although there are tables for two lined up against the wall, Taste Of Yemen feels more like a waiting room. If you’re looking for more of a sit-down situation, you’re better off walking through to their garden at the back where groups tuck into the limited menu of lamb and chicken mandi. The chicken is tender and the raisin-topped, fried onion-filled mandi rice is packed with flavour, so it’ll do for a casual weeknight dinner if you’re in the area. " - rianne shlebak

Warm, welcoming smiles come from over the counter, as regulars stroll in asking if the motabak, a folded paratha filled with minced meat or vegetables and cheese, is ready (chances are if you come early, it’s not). There, TV screens play football while groups tuck into the limited menu of lamb and chicken mandi. It’s not the best Yemeni food in London, but the chicken is tender and the raisin-topped, fried onion-filled mandi rice is packed with flavour, so it’ll do for a casual weeknight dinner if you’re in the area." - Rianne Shlebak

Should've trusted my initial instincts and walked away, but like to give the benefit of doubt. Photos were not a true reflection of the place, service was so so, toilet was nasty, but more importantly, the food was evidently not fresh which was shamelessly denied by staff and unfortunately provided a very poor representation of what I've experienced of Yemeni cuisine elsewhere. Several items from the menu unavailable, Maraq should've been the giveaway. Chose this place due to the positive reviews but have doubts as to whether they are genuine or if there's been a change of ownership. The 3 star food hygiene is questionable and likekley needs reviewing.

Really great Yemeni food. Super delicious and the menu gives a diverse set of options in Yemeni cuisine which I love! We had the chicken Mandi, Mutabbak with lamb and a side of fries, and Arika for dessert which is to die for!! The staff is really sweet and helpful. It’s important to note that since most meals are prepared from scratch it took some time for our orders to arrive. But it was worth the wait!

Just had my first taste of Yemeni cuisine and wow, was I blown away! We shared a lamb mandi and a motabk between 2, and both dishes absolutely hit the spot. The lamb was super tender - literally falling off the bone - and bursting with flavours. And the rice was fragrant and cooked to perfection. The place itself is a little hole-in-the-wall, perfect for takeaway. They've got a few tables too. Noticed a lot of locals dining there.

The Food was ok, especially Motabak with chicken was fresh and testy, but the rice in Lamb Mandi is Not fresh, just heated up, it’s look like cooked a day ago or a couple days. It’s had coloured

I was craving some Yemeni food on my trip and found this restaurant on Google. Great service, awesome atmosphere and amazing, authentic Yemeni food! I ordered the Mandi Lamb and it came with some broth (Maraq), yogurt salad and Chilli (Sahawiq). Yum! Delicious and comfort food for sure! I ended my meal with a Masuob filled with cream and honey and a cup of hot, mint tea. 😋 Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a taste of Yemen.

Easily the best Mandi Lamb I’ve ever had (and I’ve had many!). Excellent customer service and very welcoming

The meat mandi was soft and flavourful. The chicken mandi was also surprisingly soft. Service was good, very friendly staff. Humble setting. Would go again.
