Taste Wine Beer Kitchen - Review - Long Beach - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Taste is the perfect neighborhood wine bar (that also serves a full food menu). It’s dimly lit, so nice enough for a date, but also pretty casual, so you could walk in with a friend and get a table most nights. The menu changes depending on what they can pick up at the farmer’s market, and the wine list has a bunch of interesting glasses. Order a bunch of snacks to share (the pate is great), and also the Japanese fried chicken." - Jess Basser Sanders

Google
Excellent wine, good food and great service. Nice outdoor patio as well as inside dinning. Chad the owner will have some wonderful tasty wines suggestions to fit your palate. Great place for one or a group of friends

Google
They now do a themed five course dinner once a month. Option to have a wine pairing with each course. One seating per night for 2-3 nights. Must reserve in advance, sells out. We went to the “tomato” dinner. High quality, imaginative dishes with good wine pairings. The chef came out and discussed all five courses in detail and a “wine guy” did the same for each wine pairing, which enhanced the experience. Option to buy bottles of the reasonably priced wines ($20-30 per bottle) after. Lasted about 2.5 hours. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I’ve now added pics from a fig themed dinner a year later. Similar experience, although more pricey wines this time ($35-85 per bottle).

Wonderful atmosphere. Great service. Exceptional Food. I would highly recommend as one of the best places to eat in Long Beach.

The food is SUPERB! We ate the huge burger and the sausage flatbread. Both dishes were excellent. The staff is couteous. I loved sitting at the window looking out to the street. Clean bathroom. Self-shot below show large lovely mirror in ladies' restroom. Means a lot when out on date. Lol. Very quaint, vozy and welcoming restaurant. Highly recommend it.

Google
Dropped in on a Friday night just by chance. What a great find! Service was incredible: genuine welcome, attentive but casual, knowledgeable about the food, and easy to make adjustments. The menu was really creative with dishes I've never had before...all sounded interesting and every thing we ordered tasted as good or better than expected. Sweet surprise.

Google
I had a great time here. My friend and I ordered several share plates and they were fabulous. The wine was excellent and so much better than average "house wine" served at other places. I wish I could remember our server's name-- she was AMAZING! Taste is a hidden gem for sure.

Google
What a fantastic dining experience! First timers here. Met a friend for dinner and had many items we all shared. The Asian inspired cauliflower appetizer was our favorite. The draft beers are local and delicious. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
Welcome back Taste WBK! We were pre pandemic frequenters, and they have not missed a beat. Fresh, robust flavors and textures, great service, comfy space. Burrata & Heirloom Tomato and the Summer Bucatini Pasta were our fav's. Diverse wine by the glass list. Looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
Taste seems to be boarded up (stylishly) and opened for very limited hours on Wednesdays from 5p.m. to 9p.m. They are under the same management as Olives from whence our sandwiches were enjoyed. We ate on their multipurpose outside seating area. When we initially inquired re Taste Wine-Beer-Kitchen's status, we were told "we're one and the same". Which is true but we were given a strictly sandwich menu. Many varieties of sandwiches are available and they do a thriving business. I found the Olive "Melt" patty panini disappointing. Pleasant texture but bland, devoid of flavor, no cheddar cheese, scant sautéed onions as listed as ingredients on the menu. I tasted no seasoning. Way too busy to expect any alterations performed on said sandwich. The Cubano, on the other hand was delicious. Perhaps the pickle's starring role made it five star. Prime location for some good doggy watching.

Yelp
STEPH JUDGEMENT: Cool neighborhood restaurant with an upscale casual feel. I've been here twice now and I'm a fan! The food and service have been great. My friends and I usually end up sharing a bunch of plates family-style to sample as many of their offerings as possible. Some of the standouts for me have been the chicken liver pate, roasted brussels sprouts, and mushroom flatbread. The last time I dined here I had their fish and chips and they were just a touch underdone, resulting in a slightly mushy batter that kept the dish from being absolutely perfect. That said, I'm still a fan and always enjoy coming here.

Yelp
It only took us 3 years to get here to try the Wednesday only fish & chips. We walked in around opening and although there are only a handful of 2- or 4-seater tables, one long group table and one tabling lining the storefront window, only a few seats were occupied. Since Taste is only open 4 hours a day and is owned by the same people who run the superb but tiny Olives grocer next door, there's a certain intimacy of visiting this tiny and extremely local gourmet ecosystem, especially for my Mom and me who aren't big dinner eaters. Anthony, who you'll read mentioned in many reviews, served us and he was sweet enough to make my shy mother comfortable enough to ask him questions about the restaurant. He is awesome and I don't know how he stays thin working for a place like this! He brought us 2 planks of fish & chips piping hot with 2 glasses of Tempranillo. Wine was okay but the fries (LOVE) and beer battered cod (LOVE) found a place in our hearts. Maybe literally and figuratively, but totally worth it. Even though my Mom doesn't care for spicy she cleaned the tiny dip bowl of jalapeno sauce with her fish. They torch the lemon somehow so you can just about pour it on your food without squeezing. Only $14 in 2019 for the fish and, again, only one day a week. It's only one serving for a hungry eater, but two if you're me, and don't really do dinner. Come, indulge. I'm looking forward to returning.

Yelp
I like this restaurant. It's changed a little bit and now they have outside eating which is nice and I look forward to it in the summer. Love the wine they're trying to add to the menu. It's a very small menu but it's still nice. They have a burger beer special. They also have a pretty good fish and chips.

Yelp
I decided to come here on a Saturday night when my original choice for restaurant was all booked up. I of course headed straight to yelp to see what other restaurants in my area were worthy of checking out. I called and a lovely lady that answered the phone said she would help me by reserving a bar seat if I was able to come in the next hour. The menu is simple, but refreshingly so, because it was one of those days where I waited all day to eat and I just wanted some comfort food. Some of the standouts for me were definitely the crispy mashed potato cakes, the tempura cauliflower and the taste burger. Being a hot wing lover, I definitely appreciated the tempura cauliflower in a nice spicy Korean chile sauce as a guilt free alternative.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite neighborhood restaurant. The fact that we can walk to it is a huge bonus, but I'd come regularly even if I had to drive. The place is small, and until recently didn't take reservations, so you couldn't help getting intimate with those around you. I actually prefer the community table to the individual ones, and in my experience, people interact "just enough"--it's not a prerequisite that you chat with the folks next to you, just nice that you know that if you feel inspired to it will generally be well received. The food is very creative and locally sourced with all fresh/seasonal ingredients, so the menu changes frequently. I can honestly say that I've never ordered something I didn't like or regretted ordering, and we've eaten there at least 12 times. The food is best when shared--in fact I've found that a party of THREE is most ideal there. We've eaten there many times with 2 or 4, but with only 2 you can't order as many different dishes to try, and with 4 sometimes you don't get enough of a serving when dishes are served 4 ways (then we'd end up ordering two of the same thing, and you're back to not enough variety). The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the beer and wine lists have enough variety for a reasonable price. The fact that you can now make reservations is a huge plus as far as I'm concerned--we had a few occasions in the past where we'd show up and not be able to get in--I'm pleased for their success, but always disappointed when that happened, so I'm glad we can now reserve in advance.

Yelp
Ok got to come here for happy hour they pour goooood wine not some cheap 2 buck chuck for happy hour. Service guys are great and they will Make you laugh that's important to me. Now the dinner I really liked it but I feel it's missing something with the pork chops. Oh and order the Brussels

Yelp
Pleasant experience. The atmosphere is great and the food was good. But... there is also another side to it. I was fooled by the name of the dishes and their description, with their fancy word selection to describe their menu. It's good food, but it's the same basic menu you would find in any average American eatery, just fancier names. If you're looking for good typical American food, this is the place; if you are looking for diverse exotic foods (as their menu may suggest) you may be disappointed.

Yelp
Taste is a little shared plate restaurant in the Belmont Heights area of Long Beach. Parking is a nightmare here because you are relegated to the crowded streets. Om Saturday, reservations are a must for this 38 seat restaurant. The chalkboards and rustic wood common among other shared plate restaurants let you know what is in store. The servers are diligent, although slightly shorthanded early in the evening, leading to some sloppy issues in service (no beverages). The wine list is not vast but is varied. We had the Chenin Black from a Baja, Mexico winery called L.A. Cetto. While I had never heard of a winery in Mexico, I was impressed by this fruit forward, light and tangy white that was a bargain at $7 per glass or $21 for the bottle. It went famously with the food. The eclectic menu is meant to be shared. We started with the winter mesclun salad ($9). The mix of spring greens was tossed in a light vinaigrette and topped with sliced almonds, shaved fennel and segments of cara cara orange. The little medallion of breaded and fried goat cheese alongside is easily divided and adds a little richness to the sweet and crunchy salad. It is an excellent and balanced salad. Then, we had the pumpkin arancini. The underseasoned pumpkin flavored risotto is around some incredible housemade ricotta and then deep fried and served with a yogurt based charred green onion dipping sauce. The smokey, creamy sauce is necessary to bring flavor to the somewhat boring but perfectly cooked risotto. The ricotta inside is great, but these balls could use some minced fresh herbs stirred into the risotto before being breaded and fried for flavor and freshness. Good but could use improvement. Where the arancini was clever but short on execution, the lamb meatballs were more standard but perfectly prepared. The uber fresh meatballs were not at all gamey and were crisp on the outside while being moist and tender within. The mildly spiced tomato sauce and the tangy feta were the perfect pairing. They were enhanced only by some of the leftover charred green onion dip. Recommended. We wrapped up the savory courses with the roasted acorn squash ($10), whose tender skin and sweet interior was the perfect vehicle for the creamy burrata and the woodsy fried sage and sweet-tangy balsamic reduction. The roasted squash seeds were a little much and got tough, but they were visually appealing and easily pushed aside. Because we ordered modestly, we splurged on two desserts. The strawberry-rhubarb tartlet ($9) was a little disappointing as the tart was a bit on the bitter side with very little berry and an unflavorful crust. This dish was saved by the port reduction drizzle and the mind-blowing, housemade strawberry balsamic ice cream. The ice cream was not overly sweet and had tons of flavor. In total contrast, the Mexican Chocolate Tiramisu ($9) was fantastic. The coffee soaked lady fingers were layered with cinnamon, cocoa, and vanilla flavored mascarpone for a choco take on a classic recipe. I even think that they used Mexican cocoa - it was delish. We really enjoyed dinner. I would skip the arancini and the strawberry tartlet, which were both tasty but could use improvement. Everything else was fantastic, and I would come again.

Yelp
A small restaurant in the Belmont Heights neighborhood that seats around 34 people, with a long communal table in the center, this is the place you would take a friend for conversation, special event and eventually catch up over the beer and wine they have here. Speaking of which, if you come during happy hour 4-6pm, select wines (1 red, 1 white) are $5 and beers are $2 off. Some of the food selections are cheaper (It's a small menu and it's not online). And if you do like the food and beverage selection, like other restaurants, they will have a beer or wine pairing dinner. Like Phamtom Carriage in the past or the Talley Winery in August. The food here for the most part is tapa style, small shareable plates. We tried: Albacore cerviche with the crispy won ton chips-Fresh dish, wished it was a little spicier or saltier, or more acidity. I think I'm used to more in your face flavor. Indian Fry Bread-4 crispy pieces of fry bread with honey drizzle over them. The baba ganosh and the garlic dipping sauce was nice add on to this dish. Vietnamese meatballs-7 juicy meatballs with dipping sauce and organic farm greens from Lot59 which is recommended to eat in one bite. Yup, you guessed it, it tasted like Vietnamese pho or Banh Mi with those similar flavor profiles. Pan seared Sea Bass with Ratatouille, Summer Garde Herbs, Green Olive-Celery Relish. Love this dish! Super slight crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with fresh greens. Berry crumble with pepper ice cream-This dish is not for everyone. All the dishes here have a good balance of salty and sweet here. The pepper ice cream is overpowering and the berry crumble was, well a bit dry and it elevated the ice cream 3 notches in the pepperyness. The menu changes here changes constantly as well as the beer and wine choices. So what you see here might be swapped out when you enter the restaurant. However, popular menu items does get brought back periodically. Also got to try a glass of their tempranillo. Great selection for $8. I do have to say the wine choices here are quite wonderful. The beer selection is about 8 taps. Got to try SinTax from Mother Earth and it was on Nitro as well as the Alpha Galactic from Beachwood. Gotta support local, ya know? They do have a cider too here when I was here and it was called Moonlight Meadery. It was yeasty and tasted like a Berliner instead of a cider which I liked! Finally, I like to say the staff here is superb. Anthony and Garrett knows the menu super well and takes great care of you. The bathroom here is beyond the red door and is super big and clean. 4 1/2 for the food and 5 star for the service. Parking is free on the streets. Great place to hang out with time friends. Oh, please note that I was invited here as a guest to try these food and my opinions reflect that of a regular customer. I will have to come back again!

Yelp
This chill, small but uncrowded, modern and very attractive wine bar with an interesting menu is a great addition to the Broadway Corridor district, but it has what I wish my nose had: small pores. Returned a second time: Attentive servers. No ciders. Ho-hum charcuterie plate. Returned a third time: Attentive servers, well-versed in menu. Prettier at night. Cake was meh but pretty. Tonight, no rose (or no-zay). Sampled amazing untart lime ice cream that tastes like Fruity Pebbles and Cool Whip had a baby.

Yelp
This restaurant is one of the top restaurants in Long Beach. Hiro nori, Ellie's, prime, 555, saint and second, Jounetsu,Panxa and Nicks are about all lbc has as far as Food that isn't forgettable. Ellies, taste and prime take the top three spots. Try the peach salad. Share the chicken. Get wine recs and have your mind blown. The art is absolutely terrible. The lighting could be better. The food is sensational.

Yelp
This place used to be our favorite. We frequent this spot about once a month sometimes more and recommend it to our friends. Unfortunately the last couple visits have been less that satisfactory. While the food is still amazing the customer service is definitely lacking. My wife called today to make a reservation for an upcoming event. The phone was answered by Anthony who stated that it was too busy and to call back. When my wife asked if some else could possibly take the call since reservation were limited she was rudely put on hold without being notified. Mind you she said "hello" multiple times before realizing this as she could eventually here noise in the background. This is not our first unsavory encounter with Anthony as he often seems too busy to tend to the tables. The last couple visits I had to walk up to the counter to ask for someone to take our order. Why did we return after the first bad experience. Benefits of the doubt I guess. We understand that service can not be perfect every night but when it becomes a pattern it is unacceptable. So sad that we will not be returning to our favorite spot because of their "manager".

Yelp
Definitely our favorite restaurant in LB. quiet, quaint, local & great food with a rotating seasonal menu and great service. What else could you ask for? Oh...how about a great wine & beer menu Why would you go to a place like Bestia in DTLA when you can come here instead

Yelp
This place is really amazing! One of only a handful of places in Long Beach that truly provides first-class cuisine, wine, and service. If you are particular about the ingredients used in the food you eat you will be pleased by what you find here. The modest, yet "taste"ful setting is quite unique. My wife and I frequent this establishment and find they always have something new to try and their selection of wines always has additions to tempt you--this is not a place you need to bring your own. Also something special is their elegant, full-spectrum sound system which fills the room with a touch of music without drowning out conversation. Love it! :-)

Yelp
Visiting a friend that just moved to the neighborhood. I have been meaning to try this place so this was the perfect excuse. Service was great - even at the late hour (arrived after 730pmish) Wine selection was very good. Food was OUTSTANDING. We took our waitress' recommendation for the Onion Rings and she was right - I am spoiled for life. We shared the Whipped Buratta PLate - YUMMYYY. The Mushroom Risotto was not my fav, but sister loved it. The Crispy Duck was ... well darn it there are no words to describe how delicious and perfectly cooked it was. Our friend had the Taste Burger and he was in heaven...even added a bit of the left over Buratta to his burger!!! Staff was ohh soo pleasant and chatted just enough but not too much. If you are local - YOU MUST try them.

Yelp
We have heard a lot of the Taste and it's right down the street from us, so we had to give it a try. As other have stated, this place is small, and it is pricey. We made a reservation for a Sunday evening and it was a full house, so reservations is definitely recommended. The first thing I have to say is that the service was not exactly exceptional. After we were seated it took at least 5-10 minutes before we got any attention. In fact, my wife had to go to the counter to ask for water. When someone finally came to take our order, there was no chit chat in regards to the menu, it was just like "here it is, let me know when you are ready." You would think that a newer place that has an ever changing menu would make an effort to describe their food items. Ditto for the wine and beer. Now, with that said, the food was delicious. We ordered the Lamb Meatballs, the Cauli-Bacon Gratin and the Curried Potato Spring Rolls. All were hot and full of flavor, which is more of the Morrocan taste. However, the portions are small. Sadly, after three plates and two rounds of drinks, we were still hungry. At this point our bill was also about $70 and could not justify ordering any more plates. We ended up going to Jack-in-the Box for the two taco deal. Overall, this place is OK. But in the end, I would find it difficult to return and have to pay such high prices for so little.

Yelp
Came here for a dinner around 6pm on a Wednesday. Things picked up about an hour in, but not too crazy. Parking: Plenty of street parking on Broadway and in the surrounding neighborhood. Vibe: Hipster-y with its wooden decor and low lighting throughout. Communal seating at the longer center tables. Drinks: A wide variety of wine and beer to choose from. Food: We had the meatballs and beet salad for appetizers, both were delish. For my main dish, I had the prosciutto wrapped cod. It was pretty good, but I felt the fish itself lacked any flavor. My friends both got the grilled flat iron steak and it was the clear winner of two. Perfectly cooked and the corn creation it sits on top of...AAAAHHHH-mazing. Service: Pretty good. Our waitress came to check on us regularly. My only complaint was I was asked about a refill on my wine and said yes, but it never came. I don't believe we were charged for it, so not a big deal. Overall: I'd definitely come back and try a few of their other dishes.

Yelp
Wonderful small space with convivial ambience and fantastic food. Lovely wine list and over a dozen of a broad spectrum of beers on tap. Friendly front staff and fellow diners, a great local spot. All the food was superb. Started with fish cakes, nice balance with fennel and lemon ricotta. Brussels sprouts with jalapeños and fish sauce was richly delicious. Wife had the house burger, the best I've had in ages. I opted for the pork loin, accompanied with heirloom carrots & brown butter sauce. Next time you're in LBC it's worth checking out.

Yelp
Our absolute favorite neighborhood go to. Even our friends and family from oot know Taste, since they've all been there, most more then once, since the menu does change seasonally. Wonderful chef who understands that food is meant to be enjoyed and savored. Delicious! The owners can often be found on site, which to my way of thinking is always a plus. Strong yet simple wine list. And if your uncertain ask the wait staff.

Yelp
Savor the Taste! Kitchen, that is. Pretty serious eats and craft beer happening at this little gem located in the broadway corridor. Had the Chicken liver pate to start, damn fine rendition of it indeed. Had a farro, goat cheese and beet salad, well put together and fresh, Pork & beans, very nice iteration of this classic combo, that was really pork belly carnitas, some very spicy peppers, that if I had to guess, were Fresno and some Rancho Gordo heirloom beans in a very tasty sauce. Excellent Broccoli Rabe & sausage flatbread. Since the small plates were so light, we had room for dessert - Chocolate ganache crepe cake- Very tasty! All in all, pretty impressive. Service was friendly, engaging and efficient. We'll be back.

Yelp
I went here because of a recommendation from a friend, and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere is clean, cozy and comfortable. It's a great place for a date, a get together with friends or family, or even to just grab a drink/snack solo! The wine/beer selection isn't huge, but it's nicely varied, so there's something for everyone. The menu is plant-heavy, so I imagine it's a good spot for vegetarians. That being said, I had a meat dish that was very well cooked and flavorful. Our server was very personable and helpful. She did have trouble keeping my water glass full, but I encounter that a lot, so not a big deal. The reason I'm not going for five stars is because I feel like the whole sharing plates thing was pushed too hard. I understand that it's their concept, but it's not something I like doing...mostly because my friends and I have different palates. For example, everyone I know LOVES Brussels sprouts, and I can't stand them. So when I do shared plates, I end up getting half the food for twice the price. Our server must have mentioned we should order more and share five different times. It was almost like a hard sell to pad the bill. Furthermore, the "For the Table" dishes are totally awkward to split- they are designed for one. Just mention you encourage sharing, and then leave people alone! Anyway, Taste had good food and drinks, good vibes and a nice neighborhood feel. I'd return, as well as recommend it to others.

Yelp
OMG - could it be that this is our new favorite restaurant in our neighborhood? I think so! I'll start with the decor and ambiance - quaint, smart and trendy. With seating for about 30-35, you better get reservations or come early if you don't want to wait. The food - where to start.....we had 4 appetizers, 1 entree and desert all shared for two of us. We started with ceviche, squash blossoms, peach salad and onion rings. Of the four - don't miss the ceviche and peach salad!! The flavors were amazing! For the shared entree, we had the Korean fried chicken and pancakes - it was perfectly spiced!! And for dessert - the plum tart was excellent & paired with a nice Sauvignon Blanc dessert wine is a perfect finish to the evening. All in all, an amazing evening of great food, great atmosphere and the staff was amazingly friendly!! Thanks Stephanie, Cait & Anthony for a wonderful night!

Yelp
I was SO excited to try this place. The menu looked great and I saw the excellent reviews. I went tonight with my boyfriend and we ordered as follows: Pâté- 5/10- very intense flavor served with tiny cornichon and soaked raisins(with no way to serve the raisins out of the tiny jar). The pate was very intense- not enough seasonings or added fat to cut the liver flavor, the sides didn't seem to pair with it and the crisps it was served with where holey and sparse. Acorn squash-6/10- delicious flavors but the skin it was served with still on was too tough to eat, making it very difficult to politely eat... we lost a lot of the dish. Flavors were nice. Brussels sprouts-6/10- were not cut uniformly so some were undercooked. The flavors were not balanced in my opinion...tasted very flat without depth and the very spicy peppers only came through when you hit one in a bite. Duck confit-8/10- duck was cooked very well, nicely rendered with a crispy skin. The root vegetable and white bean raging was bland, and I tasted no bacon in it. Sea trout with broccolini and rice- 7/10- sea trout was cooked to perfection, rice was nice, broccolini was not seasoned at all. The service was lovely. All in all I was pretty disappointed. I was sure this would be our go to nice but affordable once a month spot, but I don't think I'll be back. Such a shame!

Yelp
Wow! This place is spot on with great service, a rustic chic look, food that is outside the box, and a fine selection of beer and wine. * This place is extremely small, make a reservation! Every single dish we had was packed with flavor and the meat melts in your mouth. I highly recommend : * The smoked paprika black cod was cooked and flavored perfectly. * The tamarind tomato braised short ribs were extremely tasty and moist. * The creamy leek flatbread was ridiculously savory, with the pancetta. * The Brussel sprout gratin was a nice play on Brussel sprouts that you don't see around. The waiter's recommendations were all great. I highly recommend this hole in the wall restaurant.

Yelp
While I was visiting the area, I ended up going here THREE separate times. The dumplings and the curry are tasty and the food is so fresh - absolutely worth going again and again. In fact, I wish the chef held cooking classes for a few selected dishes - truly talented.

Yelp
Wow! Amazing service! A fantastic menu with amazing food choices and also the wine list...omg just great. QUALITY! The server even saved me a spot right outside because I had parked in a loading zone! The lavender creme brulee is a must with blood orange whip! And the pate was so smooth and creamy and light...just great. Can not wait to come back here and try the rest of the menu...especially the Yukon gold potato risotto...what! Do it! Thank you!

Yelp
Pros: Everything was very well executed! Amazing flavors and great service. It was definitely great food and great ambiance. Think cool hipster joint. Cons: Tapas plates are too small for the prices. Value isn't really there compared to BO-beau or The Playground with similar concepts.

Yelp
This place is seriously so amazing. Hands down one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. I've been twice, and everything has blown me away each time. As a vegetarian, I really appreciate how veggie-friendly they are. It's rare to find a restaurant where I can eat more than half of the things on the menu, so this place is really exciting for me. I love that they change their menu seasonally, and that everything is so fresh and well thought out. My boyfriend recently arranged a small birthday dinner (Tuesday, July 31st) for me here and they were so lovely and accommodating. We ordered lots of dishes to share and everything came out perfectly timed. Our server (I'm so sorry I can't remember her name, but she was lovely and I'd love to give her a shout out) timed everything so perfectly and was spot on the whole evening. Thanks so much Taste! We'll be returning and telling everyone how perfect y'all are.

Yelp
Found this place in an article of the most romantic restaurants in Long Beach and decided to check it out for an early Valentines dinner. There is street parking, no lot, but that's how a lot of LB is. We had reservations for 7 and when we got there they had a table ready and no wait time. They pride themselves on using fresh local ingredients and it's very cozy rustic chic farm to table. There was music, but it was fairly quiet so conversation levels were easy and we didn't need to yell to be heard. We were able to get samples of the beers the had on tap before placing our order. I don't remember which beers we settled on but their wine and beer menus were pretty varied and priced fairly. Now on to the food, which was definitely memorable!: -Roasted Brussel sprouts-Honey, chili flakes for kick and peanuts for crunch, these little veggies were DELICIOUS 10/10 -Ale battered Maui onion rings-Fluffy beer battered and perfectly cooked, it was a little heavy handed on the salt, I ended up trying to wipe some of the salt off on my napkin...they were just too salty for even my beer to compensate for 6/10 -Garlic and herb grilled Pork Chop-AMAZING. They used a pressure marinating technique that makes the pork some of the most succulent and juicy I've ever had, and the potato risotto was on the spot 10/10 -Heirloom Pumpkin Lasagna-Deliciously pumpkin, and oh so cheesy. Really good, but REALLY cheesy...almost to the point on overpowering for me. Definitely was not able to finish it since it was so heavy. 7/10 -Pot de creme-Delicious. Like a semi-deconstructed creme brûlée 10/10 -Citrus Tiramisu- Don't order this expecting your preconceived notion of tiramisu! The only thing this has in common is layers and soaked ladyfingers! This is a soft, refreshing end to dinner with limoncello soaked ladyfingers and cream layers. MUST LOVE LEMON 9/10 Service was very good, attentive without being intrusive, definitely a great place for some great food!

Yelp
Make sure when you come that your server is Forest. I love this man. Funny, attentive, and so welcoming. Made us feel right at home. This place is so awesome. Love the vibes, the music, and the ambience. Great date spot people! They have a great wine selection too. I loved their short ribs. Dear Lord. Phenomenal. Pure heaven. That meat melted right in my mouth. And that papaya relish, dynamite! They also have a wicked cheese board. I would definitely recommend. My highlight was their dessert. We got the chocolate torte with the homemade almond ice cream. THIS IS THE BEST ICE CREAM IN THE WORLD. I WISH I COULD BUY IT BY THE GALLON. MY GOD. Can't wit to be back!

Yelp
This is my new favorite place! Went here for dinner last night to celebrate an anniversary and had the best meal I've had in ages. We started with the baby greens - which has smoked beets, goats milk custard, candied hazelnuts and a balsamic dressing. The smoke taste in the beets was fabulous. I could have just eaten three orders of this and been totally content - but glad I didn't because the rest of dinner was amazing too. My boyfriend got the pork shoulder. They give you a generous amount of meat on a bed of grits. Whatever herbs they are using are perfect! This is real comfort food. My boyfriend and I joked that we would have liked to pick up the plate and lick it if no one else was in the restaurant. I got the burger. Another perfect dish. The hamburger was some of the best meat I've had. This is the kind of burger where it doesn't matter what fancy stuff is put on top - the meat really was the star. For dessert we got the apple and caramel crisp. Now this is not your normal mushy cobbler type dish you get at most places. It had a real firmness and crunch. My boyfriend has been talking for weeks about wanting cinnamon ice cream - he was beyond excited to have it on top of the apple crisp! I will definitely be back to this restaurant!

Yelp
I haven't written a review on Yelp in a long time, but my dining experience at Taste was so wonderful that I was motivated to dig up my password and log in. Tonight's was one of the best restaurant meals I've had in a long time. The flavor combinations were mouth watering. I love that most of the ingredients are locally sourced. So fresh and creatively prepared. The ambience is nice and the staff helpful and friendly. I think our waitress was Kristine (or Kristina?). She was excellent. I've very happy to have found a new favorite restaurant, and one so close to home.

Yelp
Great spot for small plates! If you've read through the reviews, as some people may note, don't come overly hungry and expect to leave stuffed. As the name of this kitchen suggests, these small dishes are intended for great tastes of flavor with smaller portions. Service was amazing. Extremely endearing server who really seemed to care about the menu options and so attentive. The interior has dim lighting and dark wood, gives it that wine cellar feeling. I have not had a change to experience the wine or beer selection so this review covers just the few apps I have had. FOOD: //Capreses Salad//- very light and refreshing. loved the watermelon and tomatoes paired together with the dollop of cheese on top. //Arva Melon Carpaccio// - I believe this is a seasonal menu item and it was probably my favorite. thinly sliced prosciutto with honey dew melon served with capers and a balsamic/olive oil drizzle. after having a few bites, I had wished this one was larger but I will thank them for the portion control ;) //Vietnamese port meat balls// - great flavor in these little guys and a nice balance with the sweetened version fish sauce and picked cucumbers/lettuce //Crispy Chicken Thighs// - loved this one. crispy skin with tender chicken meat and loved the green veggie sauce that it came with. These items are definitely on the healthy side, see eating out can be healthy (sometimes) ;) Come here if you're close by and looking for some fun apps to try... or grab a glass of wine or beer with a friend and people watch from Broadway :)

Yelp
Im going to keep this one very simple. 1. Service, Awesome. 2. The quality and taste of food, Awesome. 3. Portions of food, very very small for the price. 4. Beer selection, poor. 5. Wine selection, ok. Overall experience is good, but if you are hungry do NOT come here. It is what the sign says... taste only, for a high price. I recommend it if you are looking for a drink, and a taste of good apps. If you are looking for more, well its Long Beach so you will be okay with pretty much anywhere else.

Yelp
This place was great! I have only been one time, but it was fabulous. The service was great; very friendly and helpful. I made a reservation on yelp and it worked perfectly. The food was amazing; ravioli, heirloom tomatoes, bacon pizza and earl gray dessert....sooo good. Wine, beer and cocktails were very tasty. I would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
This is by far one of my favorite restaurant. I moved to long beach over 2 years ago and this was the first restaurant I went to. I had no idea at that first visit I would consistently be met with the most incredible food and wine. The chef is extremely creative and they really source quality ingredients. The staff is extremely nice and knowledgeable when paring food with wine. This is my go to restaurant on a monthly basis.

Yelp
Very good food, High cuisine without breaking the bank, portions are just right not to big not too small, you can taste fresh ingredients and unique combination of flavors. Will come back again with a small party, they were able to acomodate our party of 6 but felt the space was small but the food is so worth it for the pickiest eaters, we went on a tuesday and they had burger and beer combo . Each one ordered something different and all of us were very pleased with the food. Will be coming back for sure

Yelp
Great first time dining experience. From starters to the main, each plate was absolutely delicious. Good for sharing small plates and tasting a little bit of everything. Pretty cool the draft beer selection comes from various SoCal breweries. Note you may leave hungry and it is a bit pricey. We were seated without a reservation, but it sure sounded like reservations are a must.

Yelp
This is a solidly good spot. First time here. Ordered the pate (nope, they were out), croquettes, onion rings to start. Those potato balls were yum! Rings were just so-so. Wife and I shared the steak which was good along with the lavender brulee. It had only a faint hint of lavender. Great ambiance and wine list. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I don't know why we waited so long to eat here. Everything is so good. Fresh. Well cooked. Different. Tasty. My daughter has never eaten with such passion.

Yelp
OK fish and chips on Tuesday are really really good. Don't miss out on the halibut fish and chips, three big pieces with yummy fries and slaw and the jalapeño aioli is really good much better than tater sauce. Can't wait to go back and have it again. Caprese salad is light and wonderful. get it BREAKFAST on Sat and Sunday. Go for the ricotta pancakes they are yummy

Yelp
Taste is one of our new favorite places for date night. The menu is seasonal and the food is wonderful and creative. The squash parpadelle pasta is heavenly. The ambiance is nice. It's a very small restaurant with great service!

Yelp
Wonderful food and service. Duck and short rib were marvelous, cauliflower was surprising, burgers were delicious. Had a party of 12 nicely accommodated and catered to. All paired with great wine - the evening was a success!

Yelp
We came here since it was rated one of the best restaurants in Long Beach and we were not disappointed! All the dishes were very fresh as promised and had great flavor. The service was also very great - all the wait staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. Would love to come back to try their other dishes!
