This was my first time at Tastee Diner. The minute we walked in, we felt like family. The food was delicious. Service was amazing. We didn't have to ask for a coffee refill!

A typical American breakfast place, who will bring you in a traditional American dining for a breakfast or lunch. The food had a perfect selection when I went for breakfast, with hot cakes, bacon, eggs, sausage, warm biscuits and more. Refill coffee and a friendly waitress. We even had a jukebox in our bots, taking coins. Feel free to go be transported in a traditional dine in!

Really good food and old school vibes. Patty was awesome and made sure we were comfortable will full cups of coffee. We got the crab cakes, platter and sandwich form. Super tasteeeee

Tastee Diner is a nice little diner I between the North and Southbound lanes of US-1 North of Laurel, MD. It has a nice atmosphere with many regular locals. I was greeted as soon as I entered,and served coffee shortly after sitting down (oh, BTW the coffee is delicious!). I tried the international omelet with fried potatoes, a short stack of pancakes (they have sugar-free syrup), iced tea, and a biscuit. The food was very good, and listening to the banter between the customers was fun. Overall a great experience, which means I will be back.

Nice little diner. Went at 5pm on a Thursday and had the place all to ourselves. Great service from Diana. Hotcakes were generously loaded with blueberries and eggs were cooked perfectly overhard (and perfectly overeasy for my partner). Banana pudding was tasty. Overall good prices. Table jukebox worked great! $0.50 for one song and $2 for 7. Lots of old motown and country classics mixed with Elvis Christmas covers and one pop CD featuring Taylor Swift's 22 and Imagine Dragons' Radioactive. Fun to play right next to the Coasters. Right next door to a weed dispensary so the parking lot doesn't smell super great.

Best hometown experience in years. I dined alone and had a great conversation about positive goals and life in general with the maitre Dee . This is not my first time here. The waitress has been here for over 40 years, this speaks greatness ! If you desire a family environment, great conversation, outstanding food, this is the place to be. Outstanding menu selections with the best price in the area. Guess what! They even serve Scrapple! Order well done if you never tried it!

Micro Review: Quick stop in Laurel and stumbled on the diner. Quaint and a local spot, but breakfast was spot on. Ordered the triple play - coffee was strong and great pick me up! They take credit cards for payment. Looked like they had enough parking as well. I really liked the home fries and appreciated that the waitress asked me if I wanted them with or without onions! Most places don't give that option... cute diner if you're wanting a filling meal.

Walking through the door I have stepped back in time. An old style diner that's been around for ages. Quiet and just the right amount of AC during this heatwave. Had the breakfast special. Loved it. Cooked exactly as ordered. My server, Donna, represents the kind of server we love. Filling your coffee, which was very good, before you have to wave at her and wait for ages. Knowing to bring extra napkins at the start of the meal with being asked. Not to mention bringing enough extra napkins. It's the small things that are so important. My over easy eggs were actually over easy. Service was quick. Since I used the restroom let me report it was clean but very small. There are bars to help in using the low seat. Finally, Donna. She knows the regulars. Working the front all on her own when I was there. Both in house and take out. Excellently done. If this is your thing then come by and eat here. You will be happy.

The food was very yummy. I think we would return. This is an OLD diner. Everything about it is old and dark. Doesn't look like it's ever been updated. Because of that, it can have an appearance of being unkept and unclean. I didn't really feel that to be the case, though. Tables and booths were clean but just very, very worn Both food and service are good.

Is it a good breakfast, well... umm, sometimes it's good and other times, a miss - just like the store Tuesday Morning. Some days you'll find that you want to buy everything in the store and other times, you're just browsing, leaving empty handed. On this particular visit, a requested onions with my hashbrowns, were missing and instead of receiving scrambled eggs, they were over medium, fried country ham was chewy, cream chipped beef and toast was forgotten, but then when reminded to our waitress, arrived shortly after. Cream chipped beef tasted like canned cream of something Campbell's soup. Also it was uncomfortably warm in there, even with the floor fans on full blast.

Hubs grew up in this area, so while reminiscing, we decided to stop at Tastee Diner. So, this place is very dated, and I'm so cool with that. It's not the cleanest place and gives me a Waffle House vibe, but our server was lovely and made the experience fun. We sat at our table and looked at our menu, which consisted of traditional diner food. I got pancakes and eggs, and hubs got liver and onions, which were really good. Make sure to stop by but leave your pretentious mindset outside. Greasy spoon expectations only!

It's a little whole in the wall diner, it does what it's supposed to do. Nothing stellar, but if you want something quick and decent to eat at a low price then this is a good spot.

I love a good greasy spoon! The eggs were done perfectly (over medium), bacon was crispy, and maybe the best biscuits I've had. My hubs got the corned beef hash- also done crispy on the griddle. We got a short stack of blueberry pancakes that had fresh blueberries and were light and delicious. We truly enjoyed our meal. And our server was on top of everything, but gave us our space- the perfect amount of service. I took off one star because it could use a good cleaning and the open doors allowed flies inside.

Many years ago I was an extra in the tv show Homicide: Life on the Streets. We did a shoot once at the little motels down in this area of Laurel. The producers were going for that no-tell/hourly rate vibe. Anyway I put that out there to set the stage for your surroundings if you navigate to this spot from the more tony parts of town, or out of state. It's an area that has seen fresher paint, cleaner windows and better times. The food is regular, no frills, "home cooked". There is no stack of creme fraiche on your pancakes, or sprigs of green adorning the omelette. This morning the bacon was, as my wife described done as if put under a press and forgotten about. It was like bacon chips...quite tasty if not the texture I normally go for. The sausage patties had suffered the same fate. There were scrambled eggs (a little bland), and I had pancakes (a little grainy). I think maybe the cook had other things on his mind, or a bit hungover. I like that, I want a cook in a gritty little slightly run down place to be "complicated". No knock on Shirleys for example, (great place, can't wait to go since we are back in MD), but the country needs places like this too. If every restaurant is a spotless (and often soulless) corporate money generator, we all lose. I think you have to have some sweatpants "just okay" meals in order to appreciate those times you stood in line waiting to be seen at brunch in your Sunday best. Tastee Diner is okay, we will likely come back.

The food was a 9/10, I had a omelette with ham, peppers, and sausage. Kevin was our server, and he made the experience much better. He took things out of the check that took to long. And it was a very short wait for the food, but I do not recommend the milkshakes.

Delightful blueberry pancakes and Reuben will be back soon. Everything was very comforting and great traditional American atmosphere. Our server was sweet as well super attentive and replaced our coffee for the road. Love this place!

It's a bit doughy around the ages like any old place that's been around but the food and people are amazing. For us it was a bit empty so parking and seating were not an issue. We were seated and served drink right away. A bit later the food came out. The burger my son had was sloppy and huge. It looked delicious and according to the boy it was amazing. In his words "yum". I had the BLT and I feel the same. The coffee is regular coffee but it tastes fine. Not too watery or overly strong. The ladies running the place remember your order rather than writing it down. And the get it correct! It definitely is the local "greasy spoon" where you see yourself sitting with friends and family catting with the rest of the locals that come in to eat. I want to come back and try their daily specials. It's not just a breakfast place. It's also a good lunch and dinner place. Finally to give you an example of how hometown it is - they remember your name and ask how things are in your life. And they love to work there. As one lady said, "You pay to be here I'm paid to be here". Just great people, atmosphere, really good food, and a local treasure.

We ate there around 11:30am - they were not busy. I'm concerned that if we don't support these businesses more frequently we may lose them to the pandemic. My food was excellent: country ham, eggs, grits and a toasted English muffin. My husband had turkey sausage links and grits. I hope they survive this but I was happy that there was no wait on a Saturday morning!

This was a cute little dinner we found late one night before I drove through the night. I got a coffee and a piece of bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. The waitress was nice, she was attentive and our food came out quickly. Coffee was coffee, it was satisfying, however I wish she didn't wait for me to ask for more coffee. The bread pudding was good but the ice cream was too soft. We were are to stay there and enjoy our timr, which was much appreciated. I would come back for a late night meal again.

Tastee is charming little diner on a corner in Bethesda with plenty of old world charm! The breakfast menu is delicious and the most affordable in the city. The staff is incredible and are most definitely a reason I keep going back. Don't miss out on the most delicious and charming breakfast spot in the city.

This was a great little diner in laurel. I judged a book by its cover the first time but I returned and took a stab at this awesome little place. I'm from New Jersey the place where there are multiple diners in every town so when I can find a decent place to eat I'm game. I ordered the western omelette without ham and I substituted the ham for turkey sausage which only cost me an extra fifty cent. The food came out extremely fast and it was pretty good. It tasted more homemade than restaurant made. They have these flaky homemade biscuits that are delicious. I will definitely be back. Lesson learned don't judge a book by its cover it may not look like much but it's cheers on the inside. Pros good food, fast service, great price Cons coffee cups could be bigger, waitresses have no uniforms, outside looks old and dated

I have to say that I didn't actually eat here, it was so filthy I had to leave and not get food. Situated in a strip filled with struggling businesses in a very blue collar part of Maryland, essentially an industrial area, this is a cute restaurant. But it was so dirty I couldn't handle it. Even before we entered there was a guy bringing trash out. This wasn't just restaurant trash, it was clothes and belongings as though a homeless person had somehow set up residence inside. After watching this guy make numerous trips, we approached the diner. There's plenty of parking btw. A folded, old looking hand drawn sign outside read "griddle cook wanted". My hesitation increased. We entered and there was a guy talking on a phone, water all over the floor, and everyone appeared to be confused by our presence. It also appeared that at least half the place was closed. It was strange. A waitress ushered is toward a table past some really rough couple who were all over each other in a booth. It creeped me out so much I just left. They could have been a loving couple who just didn't care about how they looked, or it could have been something else, I don't know or care. I just couldn't tolerate anymore nastiness from this restaurant. I had my kids with me and whatever they were up to just seemed inappropriate. With everything else going against it, I was scared to eat here.

In March, it will be a year since we have been going to this diner. And by that I mean, practically EVERY week since then. We've tried their sandwiches, breakfast platters (the BEST) and even been there late enough to consider our meal 'dinner'. As I said in my previous review, it's nothing fancy. But it's good eats. And the kitchen has never taken more than 9 minutes to prepare our order, sometimes even less. Seriously, try the huge breakfast platter (see my pics). You can thank me later.

2, almost 3 AM, late flight and starving, so I drive through town and hoping something is open that is not Denny's. Hiding in a parking lot was a lone neon light that said OPEN. I drove over to it, skeptical that is was an accident, and there was an old guy standing in the window staring at me. Might as well go in, might be awesome, might get killed. I'm hungry. The place is empty, just the cook and the waiter. I get an iced tea and order a deluxe burger, and I have to say it was one of the best that I'd ever had. Fried onion, pickles on the side, lettuce, tomato, just as I asked for. Listening to the old guy tell me that he had been a part-time server there for the last forty years or so was fun to listen too, I don't talk to people very much when I travel so it was good to listen. I went back there for lunch three more times while in town for work. ***Does not take AmEx.

Food was flavorless. I tried their Tastee burger, friends tried the liver and onions: they both ended up with upset stomachs. One of the two people working, this was super late at night, made a pot of coffee for my order and it was watery and made for a terrible black coffee. Silverware was not very clean or was just very old and had stained. The wait staff/cooks were very friendly, and for that reason alone they get 2 stars.

This was my go to spot for late night diner food, decent greasy Waffle House type fare. There was always the obnoxious drunk group in there, but nothing too bad. The staff you had a couple friendly people, but you had a few people who seemed like they didn't want to be there. My last time there, a while back, I def had a server that did not want to be there. To start of off I was in the restroom and someone starts banging in the door. I'm just washing my hands so 20 sec in there max. I walked out and not the next guy in line but the one behind him who was banging on the door starts cussing me out, but ends up using the women's room (your typical roid head, DC club, drunk - that guy). At our table his group starts talking to the server loud so we could hear. "Chino"/"Ching-Chong" that type stuff with a few kung-fu moves and everyone laughing. The server comes over "what do you want?". Should have left but we ordered. Chicken fingers were fine, but 2 burgers were raw and froze in the inside. Notified or server about it - "you said you wanted it medium rare". They recooked one (didn't think you could put a half eaten burger back on a grill) and replaced the other one. Somehow charged us for 4. Now we complain to the manager. The manager accuses us for trying to steal food and rally's the rest of the employees to start yelling at us. A lot of "you people" and "we don't do that in America" were hurled along with other insults. Two quiet Chinese-American guys and a nerdy Indian-American guy who were all born in the US. It was like walking into the home locker room with an away jersey on -everyone wants to kick your ass. I guess it worked out for them, I ended up paying for everything instead of causing more of a scene.

Terrible service and over priced. Whole place is nasty and never cleaned. Yet alone the kitchen is disgusting!

The worst breakfast I ever had. If a place can't cook breakfast, I can't imagine what the rest of the food tastes like. Eggs cold, scrapple overcooked, awful taste! Coffee no good. I would of said something but not when you've had the most unfriendliest server I've had in a long time, along with the cashier, they truly acted like they didn't want to be there or I was a bother to them when I came in. I was kind and friendly, but that obviously didn't change their bad attitudes. I am trying to support local business, but I guess they could of cared less! I mean if people don't like their jobs , quit then or go elsewhere! I did leave a over 20% tip, but she sure didn't deserve it at all. Never again. I never had this problem at the Tastee Diners in Bethesda or Silver Spring, always good food and friendly good service at those locations, NOT at the Laurel one!

I've wanted to try this place and no better time than Father's Day. Plenty of parking available. We arrived just after 9:00am, the nicest lady greeted us, took us right to a table and brought us fresh, hot coffee. Funky, vintage type place; lots of character. When I think diner, I envision a place like this. Good menu choices including blue plate specials everyday. My husband got the western omelette with hot cakes and I ordered the blue plate special, country fried steak. Food arrived within 10 minutes. Delicious!

Desperate for some food, new to the area, convenient spot, food was a bust!! This joint was straight out of the 1950s!

Went in on the 4th of July. Wasn't too crowded. Wasn't too impressed. The diner is an old-style prefab, but seems to be falling into disrepair. They could definitely use some touch-up work both inside and out. The service was on the slow side, which is forgivable due to the holiday and the low staffing - There seemed to only be one server plus the manager. We were seated in the back, which is like an add-on shack. The manager could be heard shouting at his staff about food costs through our whole meal. The food was OK, but nothing to really write home about. Drinks did not get refilled, either. It's a shame, because I went here years ago and it was excelent then. I hope that management can bring the Tastee Diner back to its former glory. Until that happens, I'll probably eat elswhere when passing through Laurel.

DEPRESSING PLACE! In a very impoverished area food is just what it is straight from the menu nothing fancy. No seasoning, very bland, omelette is tiny! Service is great but that's about all sad to say. Food is not bad but not good .. environment is terrible

If you are the type that's going to get worked up over a place that's a little rough around the edges, then this is not the place for you. If you don't mind walking in and smelling cigarettes and it looking like it hasn't been renovated since 1960, then you're good to go. Come for the food, not the atmosphere. This isn't the place you bring the girls to Sunday brunch, but if you want a good old school flavorful meal that's good for the soul, this is it. The food is delicious, cheap, and tastes like your grandma made it. The service is fast, the waitresses knows everyone in the joint's names, and the regulars are going to chat you up. I got the vegetable beef soup to start, and it was sooooo good. For my main, I got the steak and cheese and it tasted just how you want a steak and cheese to. My boyfriend got a full breakfast spread with corned beef hash and everything was phenomenal. We will be back and regularly! Thanks Tastee!

Wonderful hidden gem in downtown historic Laurel. The atmosphere is old school diner and you can tell that the cooks are skilled and take care in preparing food orders. This was my first time here. I will definitely be back.

I just wanted something other than Denny's late night. Well, I wish I would've went to Denny's. Called before coming twice and got no answer, finally arrive and the employees are sitting around playing games, there is literally not one customer in sight, sooooo why couldn't you answer the phone?!? My food was disgusting, taste like it's been cooked in old grease or an old pan. I ordered pancakes, a blt and a piece of apple pie. I literally never will go here again. I asked for a to go drink and the lady dipped her hand in some melted water with barely ice to get ice for my cup, when she turned around and her hand was soaked from making contact with the ice water I was disgusted and didn't even want my drink anymore. Idk how these people even passed their damn health score!

This is a legit greasy spoon diner. No less, no more. Juke boxes, exhausted waitresses, and decent coffee. Definitely embodies the overall eeriness of Bethesda.

Now HERE is a championship Sh!thole. It was late, and we were from out of town. Miles between our starting point and our hotels. The guide books warn that a wrong turn can put you in a dangerous neighborhood in Baltimore, but our GPS had set us off in search of an Applebees. Out of the corner of my eye, I spied the Tastee. It was so unilluminated, I would have missed it. I told my pals "I think we found our Dinner" A real-deal, old skool "Diner". Dark of atmosphere, local denizens sitting in various parts, unaware of anything going on around them. The hygiene seems dodgy, and the staff was, well, exactly what Central Casting would have sent this place if it was a Hollywood set. I knew that this place was going to be great. And it was. Pal #1 had breakfast-Corned Beef Hash and Poached Eggiwegs, Pal #2 had some kind of Chicken Sandwich. I had a Double Burger and Onion rings. Everything was home-made and very very good. The waiter/cook/majordomo suggested Pie for dessert, and Pie it was with Coffee. Good Pie, Good Coffee. The Bill was breathtakingly frugal-even better. You've seen places like this on TV and in Films. Usually nothing good happens in and around these night-time beacons, and I can't even imagine what this place might be like during the day. It's made for the night-and late night at that. We don't have places exactly like this in Chicago-we have Greek Coffee Shops, which are Sui Generis for the Windy City. The East Coast has Railroad-Car Diners. This was a beaut!! And oh yeah-they had old skool Juke Box controls at each booth...And you can order Booze from the adjacent Bar. Cheers!

I seen the signs for this diner many times, and I could never find it lol. I finally came in today and I'm so glad I did! I got the steak and eggs with home fries and some bacon. Everything was very good, and everyone was very sweet. I will be back for sure.

Service: we were there from 9:10-9:40a on a slow Saturday morning. There was one other party eating when we got there. It was quick (food was on the table in abt 7 min) and below average (never found out our server's name. She wasn't rude, just not friendly. She was attentive but not a nag. Slim, older blonde with plenty of makeup.) The older brunette that sat us barely did that, she really directed us where to go and came back with menus. She never greeted us. She also took our payment and never said "thank you", "come again", or "have a nice day". She was a bit too aloof for her job choice. She was the rudest to us, but I saw her talking to others in a more friendly way. We were greeted by a younger, slightly heavier blonde who was the only one that smiled. She said "hello" and "goodbye". Prices: low, 2 adult meals, 1 kid's meal, and 3 drinks for $22.53 Portions: decent and filling Taste: good. I had eggs over medium (perfectly done) with turkey sausage (a good kick). My wife said her pancakes (short stack) were "tasty and filling, but heavy" and my son loves anytime he's allowed to get chocolate chip pancakes so he was pleased. My decaf coffee wasn't good. Overall, it was a decent FOOD experience, they're lacking on service. Solely based upon the service, we won't be back.

Tried this place for the first time and i wasn't disappointed. I ordered 3 pancakes an order of home-fries and a plate of french fries and gravy. The pancakes are the best I've ever had and they were the size of the plate. The home-fries were good, hand cut from fresh potatoes. I saw pictures of the gravy here on yelp so i had to try them. I ordered fries with gravy and they were amazingly good. They told that they make most of their food fresh on site and it was evident in the food.

This place is fine. It's a legitimate diner. In other words, it's what you'd expect from a real diner. It has a long counter, chrome, booths, and the typical grub. The place was not spotless, but it wasn't dirty, either. I had blueberry pancakes, hash browns, and coffee (just under $9 pre-tip). The pancakes and coffee were OK. The potatoes, like most places, were not as well-done as I'd like. A lady in the booth next to me actually sent hers back to have them cooked more. I'll probably be back at some point. Ok. I've been back. This still applies including that they don't cook the potatoes enough. I even ordered them crispy to no avail.

My boyfriend and I LOVE quaint little places like this- especially diners! The This place seriously takes you back... way back. All the waitresses are older and so sweet. Very prompt service. We were in and out within 45 minutes! So now to the important part-- the FOOD. It was definitely good but nothing amazing. I had the creamed chipped beef (one of my favorite meals of all time). I'd give that a 3/5. I definitely want to try something else from here because I know that people rave about some of their dishes. My boyfriend had the country fried steak with gravy (special of the day), he would also give it a 3/5. We will definitely be back. Definitely worth trying!!

Talk about a good hole in the wall. This is the place. You might feel like you are walking in to an old 70's dinner, because you are, but don't let the looks and the 70's atmosphere fool you. The servers are ginuinely nice and the swift with taking and getting you your order. I ordered the pancake 3 stack with bacon, eggs (w/ jalepano, cheese, and onion), and an orange juice. When I say it hit the spot, trust me, it did. I have never had bad service nor bad food since I first started coming back in 2010. I

I don't feel like I've arrived in Laurel, MD until I have a hot cup of coffee filled by someone at Tastee Diner who thinks my name is "Honey". Open all day and all night, I know I can rely on these guys to be there to feed me, magically make my cup of coffee never get below half full (threats of dirty looks are sometimes needed to stop the flow of caffeine), call me "Honey" like I'm part of the family and feel at home no matter what that clock on the wall says.

First time I came here I thought it was awesome. Loved the greasy spoon and all that. This time I got pancakes with so much grime and grease in them from a griddle that hasn't been cleaned in what tastes like a month and I am done. Won't be back. Clean the griddle. I don't want bacon from last week in my pancakes today.

A nice cozy diner but their food is a bit lacking. Spaghetti noodles with a fried veal cutlet +cheese and plain tomato sauce is too... plain

Good cheap food. Small, kind of dive but has lots of character, that the locals hang out at. Excellent service. Friendly staff and customers. We are from the west coast and just wanted a good, inexpensive diner experience on our way from CT to DC and found the perfect mix here.

Place is really dated and could use a lot of remodeling. I went for breakfast and ordered the steak and cheese omelette. It was $8 and change. I asked the waitress how big it was and she made it sound large. What I got was a 2 egg omelette with a few small pieces of meat and very little cheese. It tasted fine but for the price should have been way more substantial. Coffee was good and the waitress kept my cup full. Overall a good meal just over priced and the surrounding's a bit ran down. I would find another place for breakfast next time.

Great service great food! A little cold, but not as cold as outside! Trust me we would know after running 4 miles in this 30 and below degree weather! Did I mention great food!!! SOS was delicious!!!

I called and ordered my food in advance to avoid the long wait since I'm at work, didn't help one bit. I arrrived at the location it's a little off to the side but that's ok. I enter and wait to be acknowledged by someone to make my needs know, takes 10 minutes. I inform the server that I called an order in. She says ok and walks off. Same person puts food at counter to be rung up and I approach and wait there for 10 minutes. The same lady walks past not saying one word and finally comes to ring me up. The second I inform her that I have to separate the orders she gets flustered and huffily walks away, leaving me dumbfounded. The older lady comes over and separates the order and rings up the cash purchase and the hefty woman comes over and rings up the other. When I get my order it's messed up , it looks like the sandwich was balled up in the wax paper and thrown in a bag and the fries were cold. I called the manager and he said "we've been in business 300 years and this has never happened, yeah right! I read reviews after the fact and wished I would've read them before. I will never patronize this place again , & neither should anyone else if this is how they treat customers.

I had breakfast with my family for the first time today and it was excellent! I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and was presented to me without any bone or fat. It was delicious! I really enjoyed this old school Laurel hangout and will definitely be back!

Friendly staff, a little rough around the edges; not trained by corporate kind of a way, but genuinely friendly. VERY old school, genuine diner. Not the mock double t or silver diner. They have the really good pellet ice. Lol the burgers are TO DIE FOR! Pancakes are super good as well. They used the little mini chocolate chips rather than the normal choco chips. It's the little things that matter. Def coming here again!!!
