Tasty Deli

I recently tried Tasty Deli, and I have to say, it definitely lives up to the hype. I’d seen reviews claiming it has some of the best sandwiches in NYC, and after trying it, I couldn’t agree more. The variety of options is impressive, and while it takes some time to decide what to order, that’s part of the fun! Each sandwich is packed with flavor, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth checking out — a solid choice for anyone craving a delicious, well-made sandwich.

One of the best sandwiches I’ve had in NYC. Fresh ingredients and very kind workers. Pictured is the “Julie’s Special” or “Italian Combo”. It has Ham, Genoa salami, provolone cheese, lettuce, sweet peppers, Italian dressing on a hero roll. Nice chill place to sit in as well.

I ordered Cyber Sex. The bread was supposed to be garlic bread- it was not and was served to me completely wet and inedible. I literally picked up half the sandwich and the bread melted right off. I asked for raw onions, he gave me grilled. (He even asked me: raw or grilled?) There was no house made italian dressing either on my sandwich (comes with it). I withheld the guac and hot sauce and thank god I did bc the sandwich would have been even more of a sloppy, disgusting wet mess. I could not eat as a sandwich. Had to throw bread away bc it was legit mush (I walked 2 mins home...it was after 3 mins of being made- soaked as if I rode the subway for an hour then walked another 30mins). The turkey was incredibly oily. I spent $16 for an inedible sandwich, basically. Disgusting and don't waste your money...You guys should be ashamed to serve me the sandwich you served me today. Clearly it was a lack of care from the workers for quality in their food. I am BEYOND pissed off. -5 stars!!

Good assortment of sandwiches and other American lunch food. Quick service like a lunch line, with old school no nonsense directions. Generous portions and reliable flavor. Wish the steak had more flavor to it but otherwise great sandwich

Very pleasant young man attended to me. Ordered a prosciutto sandwich. Very good. Highly recommend this place!

My mother and I stopped here for a quick bite for breakfast on our way back to our hotel from Colombia Hospital. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese with SPK and she got a western omelette. My breakfast sandwich was fresh and hot with the cheese being perfectly melted and the bacon being nice and crispy but not over cooked. My mother's omelette was made with egg whites upon request and was made with fresh ingredients and came with 4 slices of toast and breakfast potatoes. For $25 we got 4 drinks, an omelette and a breakfast sandwich which isn't bad I don't think I'm giving 4 starts because there was a hair in my food but overall I would recommend this quaint little deli!

It says it all in the name.. Tasty. I ordered the Italian combo sandwich (I added tomato & jalapeños in mine.) The ham was so thinly cut (which is my favorite part) and they’re generous with the amount. Super fresh & quick service. My girlfriend tried the veggie cuban celebrity sandwich and she loved it. Recommend!

Just a quick update; a year has passed and I'm eating there at least twice a week now! The sandwiches remain HUGE and delicious and the service is just as good as the first time I walked in. A lot of places tend to fall off and/or get boring but they continue to satisfy my hunger and my curiosity as have a long list of sandwiches on their menu and always adding new ones. This review might seem a bit biased but it's for good reason; I love all things sandwiches and this place has yet to disappoint. I currently have at least 15 of their sandwiches on rotation, yeah I got issues but this place ain't one of them.

Tasty Deli kept me fed throughout school and is still one of my favorite delis in the city. The sandwiches are HUGE--enough for two meals--and they don't skimp on the fillings. Prices are excellent for what you get. Some of my favorites - L.C. Blues: a classic chicken cordon blue sandwich, but with pepperoni instead of ham - Julie's Special / Italian Combo: a great Italian sandwich with tons of meat and delicious sweet pickled peppers - El Toro: a massive roast beef sandwich with BBQ sauce I also had a salad called the Cindy Express which is a salad with grilled chicken, shrimp, and guac. Kind of interesting, but it was surprisingly pretty good. A few available seats inside if you want to eat in. Highly recommended for a quick and filling bite.

I've been going to this deli for the last 15 years!! The owner and staff are wonderful and their sandwiches are even better. Just prepare to get very messy. The hot mess is my go to but anything you have is sure to hit the spot. They do also cater events and they're super easy to work with. This place is a must visit when you're in the heights!! I wish I lived closer!!

Came here several days in a row while my dad was in the hospital. If it wasn't so far from where I live, I'd come every day. The food is awesome and the guys who run the place are incredibly nice. Absolutely worth coming and eating. Only giving them 5 stars because you can't give 6.

Great sandwich's. This is a small shop loaded with lots of menu items. The sandwiches are large and filling. If you are into sharing you won't be disappointed with how much is packed into each sandwich. Located next to the subway station (#1, A & C) and close to the New York Presbyterian Hospital so the flow of customers is consistent which tells you this is a great sandwich shop. Limited seating, but most of the business seems to be order, take-out and run off to a train or back to the hospital. If you are in the neighborhood it is worth the trip even if you are are little bit away. Be sure to checkout the wall cover with years worth of Coca Cola six packs, I especially liked the Christmas cartons. We ordered the Old Inwood and Wild Child. Both were excellent!

Tried the eggplant parm sandwich here and I was severely disappointed. The sandwich was a little soggy and the eggplant was not fully cooked so it was chewy. I would not eat here again and wouldn't recommend this place for vegetarians.

Pretty solid sandwich place. Each sandwich is massive and enough for two meals. They have a plethora of variety and many options, would recommend the spicier ones as they give a good kick.

You travel to New York you absolutely must go to the best deli in New York. Well here it is! Tasty Deli on Broadway in Washington Heights is the best of the best. The owner is super friendly. The prices can't be beat and the food is stacked with the best meats and cheeses anywhere. And dare I say it this food is Tasty! Get out of Time Square take the C train to 168th and Broadway and treat yourself to the best.

Great sandwiches. They are packed with deliciousness. We always get the Pastrami Desire and onion rings. Terrific place to eat.

WOW! This place never fails! Chicken cutlet sandwich is the bomb! And I love the veggie suprime! The place is fast, effective, and clean! 100 percent recommend!

When in Washington Heights, there's a deli on every corner, but Tasty Deli really stood out and lived up to its hype! The employees are lively, the sandwiches are so flavorful, and the prices are pretty decent. Definitely ask for what they recommend because all my friends were VERY satisfied with their orders. I ordered the Rico Suave sandwich which had chicken, grilled zucchini, mushrooms, cucumbers, mozzarella, and a bomb chipotle sauce. The sandwich itself was MASSIVE and could probably serve as 2 meals. The combo of flavors was unmatched and it still had a little kick of spice with the sauce. Would definitely get again! We also ordered one BB Lover sandwich with brisket beef, cheese, BBQ sauce, bacon, and grilled onions. The meat was overflowing so you definitely get what you pay for and the sauce was smoky and rich. The sauce to roast beef ratio might have been a little off because you can taste the two more separately than together, but overall it was a banging sandwich. Just might have to become a regular here:)

Sandwiches and service were awesome! they made sure that the order was correct and were very friendly and fast! The selections and variety are elaborate. Very clever names in their signature sandwiches. I remember this spot from over 10 years ago, when I lived in the heights for a short period. I wanted and sandwich and they were still there and still great.

This is the best salad made on earth. I know you don't believe me but the only way to prove it is for you to go and try it on your own. I dare you. Take care and let me know how much you love it. Just ask any one of their great staff for it. You won't regret it.

Every time I come I'm greeted with so much energy. The sandwichs are so delicious and a good portion. I had the Cuzzo sandwich which was absolutely delicious. The chicken cutlet was flavorful and juicy. It is big enough to share but if you are really hungry then you can eat it by yourself. I definitely recommend coming to try this restaurant. The ambience is unmatchable!

Great NYC deli so many options. Fast and good service. Couldn't resist went 2x in one week since I don't live in the area.

The food at tasty deli is very disappointing my hot mess was burnt I couldn't eat it I had to turn it away

I've been making my way through the tasty (heh) offerings Tasty Deli is serving up, and am very glad to say they are solidly on my list of delivery delis. Bacon & Egg Overstuffed Sandwich (I chose pumpernickel): I mean...that ain't pumpernickel. But it was quality rye bread, and you're gonna get one very solid and hearty breakfast sandwich on whatever type of bread you choose. Potato & macaroni salads: standard. But they taste good (opposed to those complimentary sides you take one bite from and toss). Cajun Turkey Overstuffed Sandwich: YES! This here is a perfectly crafted sub/hero/grinder/whatever regionalism you would dub such a beast. Spicy Red Chicken Burrito: I was skeptical after reading reviews...and yeah...a little heavy on the rice. But that spicy red chicken! Great flavor, and everything inside the burrito makes for a seriously delicious bite. They're very generous with the properly spicy chipotle crema. I was not about the guac (seems like the pre-made stuff). But didn't need it. And the side salad they give you with it is fresh and not overly dressed. This one will, for sure, go in my cart again! The Original Sandwich (Smoked ham and muenster cheese with lettuce and mayo on a roll): that perfect kick back to the smaller sandwich we'd get from the deli as kids. Simple, and done right. Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad: For $8.95 and with all that chicken? This is a steal. Cindy Express Salad (Grilled chicken, seasoned grilled shrimp, guacamole, and grilled onions over tossed green salad): This meal of a salad was very good! Essentially like ordering a hoagie and replacing the bread with salad. About it! Shrimp Quesadilla: this was the only no bueno. Dry, not a lot of flavor, shrimp a little overcooked. Maybe it was just the day I tried it? Though I'd definitely try the shrimp burrito to compare. Tasty has another confirmed return customer in this dude, who hopes you'll give 'em a go!

The Tasty Deli is a neighborhood gem! Santi and his team are great and serve up delicious sandwiches and more! I also love getting my morning coffee there as I'm heading to the office! Sets my day off right!! Go visit! You won't be disappointed!!

Growing up in New York, I've gone to my fair share of delis and I gotta say, this one is pretty high up there for me. I've only been twice so my opinion could change over time but so far, it's been great. They have a pretty extensive menu of sandwiches. The most recent visit, I got the Zombie sandwich which includes lemon seasoned chicken, parmesan cheese, pesto, and marinara sauce - it was delicious and could easily be 2 meals. It seems like their sandwiches are rather large and they have a good selection of wraps as well. Will visit again to try more sandwiches!

The sandwiches have alot stuff in them once u order it. The bread is soft fresh as always so it adds to the experience. The staff is friendly & help u with anything u wanna put on ur sandwich. The menu has variety of different options for anyone preferences. Hands down this sandwich shop is one of the best in NYC.

This place rocks. I came here on a whim while out for a quarantine walk after cooped up in my dorm and studying all day. Definitely needed a break and a pick me up. This monstrous sandwich more than sufficed. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the deli man behind the counter. He was incredibly helpful in crafting my custom made sandwich, down to the toasting of the entire sub -- something I have not had during my time in NYC. I ordered a pepper mill turkey sandwich on sesame seeded bread with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, mustard, and hot oil, all toasted like a panini. This sandwich came with a free side of macaroni pasta and I also threw in a mixed greens large salad because, why not? This sandwich was so fire, the perfect amount of mayo and hot oil to create an irresistibly creamy and satisfying mixture with the turkey. Yum. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat ALL of this in one sitting and ended up munching through dinner and lunch of the following day. A superb deal for a one stop shop. All under $20. Super impressed by the selection of sandwiches, deli meats, and appetizers. I've been back at least 3 times in the past 3 weeks and don't see this new ritual stopping anytime soon. One star off because I've come a couple times requesting for the entire sandwich to be toasted to the perfection that it was the first time and each time they have forgotten. Next time...

Theres really no line, and if there is they are so fast. We asked for a special req. and they did not hesitate to fulfill our request. 10/10 food and service

Hands down one of the best Delis in NYC. Service is great and the sandwiches are even better. They have a big menu but if you are craving something specific the guys will hook you up. If you want a delicious and classic New York deli this is the spot to go!

Insane sky high deli sandwiches! One of my favorites in the neighborhood. Their sandwiches are topped high and they go heavy on the sauce, so mind that. Their menu is really overwhelming, but honestly, everything is good. I love the Cyber Sex sandwich. The burgers are on the dry side, so I'd stray away from those. The service is nice and efficient.

Delicious food and very friendly service. What really stands out are all of their specialty sandwiches. The names and ingredients make you wanna go just to try a different sandwich every time.

This is my first experience in NYC, and it was definitely an awesome experience! Very friendly process and the owner recommended me the "hot mess" sandwich, and oh boy was it delicious! I am very willing to go here; Great atmosphere, friendly atmosphere, delicious food! Delicious deli

Really great sandwich shop with a huge selection (peep their celebrity sandwiches to go beyond your typical boring sammie). Haven't tried many despite working and living in the area for a while, but my go to is the Veggie Supreme (fried eggplant, fresh mozzarella, pesto and roasted peppers), which is a really nice and hot vegetarian sandwich that taste amazing, will only set you back $10, and honestly is big enough for a meal and half. I've also tried the The Storm (had steak and mozzarella and chorizo and onion rings), which was equally delicious as it was messy. All in all food always comes out (or delivered) relatively fast and hot. Worth the price!

The food is out of this world! So fresh! I've had salads, wraps and sandwiches and every thing I order is an absolute banger after banger. Portions are decent and prices are great. Service is also 5 stars. Plus it's a got a real retro feel to it and I have seen folks getting table service there. True gem.

Tasty deli is a really great option of quality food in the vicinity of New York Presbytery Children's Hospital. I spent a month eating expensive horrible premade sandwiches at the hospital lobby and regret it. Tasty is an easy 3 blocks away and the variety is profound! The sandwiches are big and yummy. The jalasco sauce may be overwhelming for some so request it on the side. Besides the celebrity sandwiches they have salads and wraps ect , something for everyone. The workers are polite and fast! They offer delivery, pickup and an app ordering as well.

I won't be back. I ordered a basic turkey and cheese on wheat - it was awful. Bread was rock hard stale, tomatoes were mushy and old and the turkey definitely wasn't fresh either. Maybe I should have tried one of the fancier sandwiches but I'll never know...

Tasty Deli is a fantastic place to grab food around the area. I've gotten my food very quickly both in store and through delivery. The menu has a wide selection of creative and deliciously crafted subs, sandwiches, wraps, breakfast items, and salads. Some of my favorites of what I've tried so far: Sub: The Gunner Wrap: Chicago Sandwich: Turkey Club Salad: Cindy Express The shop itself provides ample seating and has a classic-deli feel to it. The workers seem passionate about what they do and service has been great every time that I've gone. Depending on the day, sometimes you can just seat yourself and pay at the counter afterwards... The atmosphere is very relaxed.
