Convoy’s Fire-Shuttered China Max Reopening as New Chinese Restaurant - Eater San Diego

"Tasty Pot, a Taiwanese hot pot restaurant with branches in Mira Mesa and Oceanside, was also closed by the 2020 fire. The franchise owners may reopen an outpost in the Convoy District center once repairs are complete." - Helen I. Hwang

Overall great experience! I got the beef pot, and it was super satisfying—such a good amount of food for the price. I also really liked that they give you the option for iced green tea with your meal. It was refreshing and just the right amount of sweet! The sauces at the table were a nice touch too. I really enjoyed the garlic soy sauce (not totally sure what the other two were, but they were good!). Overall, everything felt fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth it. I’ll be back for sure!

If anyone has made hot pot at home, you know the labor of love that goes into preparing everything. If you’re looking for a nice break, I highly recommend any location of Tasty Pot. I’ve gone to the one in Stockton, Temecula, & now this one. My son got the sizzling beef plate with udon and it had a ton of flavor which is worth the price. Personally, I recommend taking out the cabbage as it’s just a filler. Other than that, I would definitely come back again! We got seated fast and food was very flavorful. The drinks were decent, I enjoyed their complimentary black tea more than these ones.

Only place to eat Taiwanese stinky tofu pot in San Diego, I like the flavor and the pot is pretty big. For this price, it’s kinda very worthy. The down side is the flavor is little too mild so you have to use a lot of the bean paste. Also the Napa cabbage is little bitter somehow. Otherwise, this is a nice place. My husband had their new items, he enjoyed it.

We found this place on the off chance off Yelp and we were not disappointed. This is a perfect place for hot pot, where you get a variety of bases, add in any additional items, and cook your perfect meal. You have a great variety to chose from with everything from curry to veggie to spicy to cheese and more. It’s also convenient so you can order off the table and they bring it to you. Their variety of drinks from teas to smoothies is great too. The additions include rice, noodles, different eggs and more which leaves you in control of everything. You can add more meat and you control how well done you want it as well. The service is great and they add more soup base when they come around. The prices are very reasonable, however the place is fairly busy so it’s best if you put in your name ahead of time. However you can only do that if you have large party. So check out this great gem in Mira Mesa! You’ll leave full and happy!

Google
The stinky tofu pot at $18.50 came with only two pieces of tofu, but a pile of cabbage with tough stems. We also ordered the #1 beef pot and the #9 Taiwanese mala (spicy) pot. To be honest, the broth for all three pots tasted the same. Service was okay. However, if you are Taiwanese like me and looking for a taste like home, you should probably avoid this place. Try it if you don’t mind wasting money.

Google
Hot pot is great. But the new dishes with stinging meat and fish ball is too sour and spicy for us, attached in the picture. This is not typical Taiwanese food. Other than that is good.

Google
I like this place! I've dined in and ordered takeout several times and it's always good. My favorite is the seafood one. It's a bigger portion than you think, I'd say it's worth the price!

Google
I'm absolutely loving TastyPot! Their veggie broth and Thai broth pot are packed with an impressive array of healthy veggies, making for a nutritious and delicious meal. The selection of boba teas is also amazing, with so many flavors to choose from. My only suggestion would be to add some quick starters or bite-sized options to complement the food. It would be great to have some smaller dishes to snack on while waiting for the broth to cook. Otherwise, TastyPot is a fantastic spot for a healthy and tasty meal. Keep up the great work!

Yelp
I always crave Tasty Pot! Their lamb hot soup, medium/very spicy is my favorite. If you go at lunch, you get a free tea with your pot (pick the black tea). Service has always never been a problem throughout the many years I've been.

Yelp
Reliable and consistent experience with Tasty Pot. The Japanese miso hot pot is one of our go-to's, as well as the beef hot pot, which has just enough savory elements in addition to the slight funk we appreciate in Taiwanese/Chinese hot pot. No photos this round since we typically order to-go, but the dining experience is just as good to satisfy those chilly evenings.

Yelp
Tasty Pot is my favorite Taiwanese-style hot pot place in San Diego. What they often lack in service and attentiveness, they make up for in flavor. This location is generally not too busy, we usually get seated immediately upon arrival, and we love that they have a scan to order type of menu because it makes things a lot easier, since the servers tend to not come by as often as other restaurants. I always order either the Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Pot or the Beef Hot Soup. I think they have the best hot pot in San Diego, in terms of this-style hot pot, but not the best overall. Comparing to other cities either the same style of hot pot, it's definitely blander and not as flavorful, but still satisfies the craving.

Yelp
Chained Solid Taiwanese hot pot place in Mira Mesa , San Diego serving comfort food and bubble teas. Plenty of parking, waiting list in Yelp, nice deco inside and outside seatings. Wait only about 40 minutes around 7 pm on Valentines night. Roomy and clean tables. Water served when they seat you. Order from scanning the QR code st table. Suggest to use free WiFi posted on the wall just in case weak cellular signal. Service is super quick and attentive. Come by regularly to ask if we need more water or soup or anything else. Can even hit the request help in the order app. We ordered Mala skewers, beef sizzling pot rice with mushroom sauce, Seafood lobster hot soup original, mild with free rice. Love the sizzling pot with tender beef and tasty rice. All the seafood stuffs are fresh. Suggest to order the original soup no spice, and individually add the hot garlic sauce if love too. The Mala skewers are all over the place, with sauce and spices and grilled stuff are mixed without discrimination. Not recommended the Mala skewers as offered now. Decent price, good portions, satisfied taste bud. Will comeback to try other flavor hot pots.

Yelp
Solid casual hotpot spot if you're craving something warm and savory The curry flavor was very yummy and comforting. Also got the sizzling beef dish with udon which was so good! Def recommend sharing that with a soup for two. Decent price, fast and friendly service. Despite the restaurant being busy from the rainy weather, we were sitter fairly quickly. Will always come here often to get my soup fix

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with my order - I got the Taiwanese Surpreme mild, and the broth carried the whole dish! It was tangy, savoury, spicy, and provided a nice vessel for all the add ons that come with it (beef, beef tendon, fish cake, fish balls, tofu, clam, instant noodles, etc.). If you like sinigang, you will love this (my filipino blood loved this). Ordering was a seamless experience through a QR code you scan on your phone, and our waiter was quick to refill our water and our broths. We came in at 11:20am on a Saturday and the place was already filling up. You can also join the waitlist on yelp to save you time. Overall, better than Boiling Point and get the Taiwanese Supreme hot pot!

Yelp
It's been a while since I've had individual Taiwanese hot pot. Unfortunately, San Diego doesn't really have that many places that serve this style of hot pot. Tasty Pot was one of the few places I was able to find. The food here is good, but can be a bit on the pricier end compared to some of the other places I've been to. I ordered extra lamb, but the lamb was already served cooked. This just makes the meat tougher when I boil it in my pot again. Usually the extra meat is served raw. But overall, I still enjoyed the food here! There are definitely a few things that can be made better, but if you are craving for individual hot pot in SD, this place is not a bad option. Parking is pretty easy since the restaurant is located in a lot. I will say, their reception was not the greatest and it took me a while to upload the menu on my phone. Would consider using their Wi-Fi, which is free and posted on their wall.

Yelp
What a great spot for some hot pot. The space in the restaurant feels bustling and alive with energy, making it the perfect place for a a casual and cozy night out. Definitely an authentic and immersive vibe to this place that adds a little extra something special. Another thing that stands out is their commitment to keeping the meal satisfying; I love that they continually fill up the broth as you enjoy your soup and that the broth stays super hot while being lit from underneath, which is a huge plus for me. I've also never been a fan of all-you-can-eat hot pot places or the ones where you have to do all the cooking yourself so I really liked that the meal basically comes out ready. Just add your noodles and enjoy. I loved adding the garlic soy sauce on the table to my dumplings and broth and it added so much depth to the flavors. I couldn't get enough. Another thoughtful touch is the protective barrier around the sizzling plate if you're getting a broth-free meal. I was happy that our food stayed put while we mixed it. The service is attentive, and the staff is friendly, and can I just say again how much I love that they top up your broth?? Tasty Pot feels like a slice of authentic hot pot heaven. It's an experience I'd recommend to anyone who loves a delicious, hassle-free hot pot.

Yelp
I always come back to tasty pot rap during the winter time. It's comforting and you know you can expect consistency. This time with old coworkers. We had a large group and one of our members was running late. They didn't sit us until our full party was here. The staff were really friendly and attentive. We all ordered our pots on the phone, and they appeared about 10-15 mins later. I somehow finished my pot (got the vermicelli). Dunno how bc this portion is quite generous. I can always expect a good meal here and I'm happy to refer this place to all friends! They said they could only split up to 3 cards (?) so our friend paid it all and we just venmo'd her.

Yelp
I should give this place more credit! Tasty Pot is solid. I gave them 4-stars last time, because they aren't Boiling Point... But they're still amazingly good, enough so that this is one of my most frequented restaurants in Mira Mesa... I'm a sucker for Asian hot pot. And I love that if you come during lunch hours, they provide free tea! Huge plus. :)

Yelp
Very yummy lamb hot pot. Really convenient location and enjoyed the experience. Prices were somewhat reasonable compared to other hot pot locations. Service was quick and employees were very friendly. I would definitely come back again. They have lots of promos on their website but none are for the San Diego location.

Yelp
Service was amazing! Everyone was very nice and helpful. Consistently checking in for refills or ordering more food. I would love to eat here more, the environment is so welcoming. And the wait was very short right after joining the waitlist.

Yelp
I always get the Taiwan supreme pot and it has a ton of yummyness. The tendon pieces are thick and generous in portion. I usually enjoy some heat but I am weak here, I have to settle with mild here, I tried medium and it was too overwhelming. I like that it comes with a nice legit tasting tea with pair with your hotpot.
google avatar

Yelp
Good place to have non All You Can Eat hotpot. There are 2 size pots: regular for $19 and large for $21. They also have sauces for you to use at the table. The restaurant is pretty large with outdoor seating. The taste of the food is good for the price. They have different style pots for different tastes. At lunch they will offer free black or green tea. The milk teas and boba is also pretty good here. The reason I give it a 4 instead of a 5 star is because the meat quality is good but not Wow! But still, this is a good place to eat and I like it.
google avatar

Torie S.

Yelp
Service here is impeccable and the wait time is unmatched. Despite the restaurant being completely full when we got there and six parties ahead of us, it was still only 11 minutes total to wait. I got the beef medium spicy. It was not spicy at all, so if you want a little kick i'd probably get a higher spice. Everything was really tasty and the sauce fixings at the table were good as well. The staff here were so kind, very attentive, and super pleasant. It was near the end of the night and tbh i'd be cranky by then if i were them but they were still sooooooo nice. Parking was super easy in a sizeable lot. Would come again. :)

Yelp
Tasty Pot is a solid option to try out when you're craving soup.   I recommend their beef hot and Taiwanese supreme soup at the spiciest level. I really love that the workers happily refill your broth as you eat. Since the soup is under a small flame while you eat, the soup is always piping hot - a MUST for me personally as I love when soup is incredibly hot.   I will say that the flavor of the soups (I've tried their lamb, cheese, curry, and Sichuan) is not mind-blowing, but they all definitely do hit the spot when you're in the mood for soup (which I am always in the mood for lol).   They tend to play K-pop at this location which is a nice touch for me personally. It complements the ambiance and busy-environment pretty well.   The service is always great, too.   To be honest though, you will most likely wait for a table here regardless of the time of date you come here. Take this as a good sign that the food here is good, though. I wait at least 30-40 minutes during peak busy times for dinner on weeknights and weekends, but there is a Yelp check-in option that helps make this process easier. If the wait is too long, taking the food to-go is a good option (but I do think it tastes best when dining in).   4.3/5 - consistent, tasty, and a classic spot in Mira Mesa.

Yelp
I love going to Tasty Pot. It's one of my go-tos when I'm craving hot pot in San Diego. They give you a lot of food and I always leave full! I usually order the Beef Hot Pot (without cilantro) and if you come during lunch, you can get a free tea with your hot pot which is really refreshing. It can be more on the salty side especially once the broth boils down, but they will refill it with broth if you ask. Plenty of seating inside. There's a small free parking lot outside and though it can get busy around dinner time, I've never had issues with getting parking.

Yelp
Tasty Pot's beef stir fry with udon noodles tastes this place to the next level. It's the closest thing to Pepper Lunch in Irvine! Picture this: a sizzling hot pan, alive with the aroma of a delicious mushroom butter. Thinly sliced strips of beef, hit the pan with a satisfying sizzle, releasing a tantalizing scent that fills the air. As the beef begins to brown and caramelize, vibrant vegetables join the party - edamame and corn, adding a burst of color and texture to the mix. The udon noodles are thick and chewy, eagerly soaking up the savory sauce and mingling with the beef and vegetables in a harmonious dance of flavors and textures. Each bite is a symphony of sensations - the tender beef, the crunch of the vegetables, the chewiness of the noodles - perfect balance of umami. I definitely prefer the udon noodles over the rice, and cheese is a nice touch if you enjoy it in general. Service is pretty good as servers are attentive and the food comes relatively quick. I'm not the biggest fan of their hot pot but I do enjoy getting the Mango Sago drink every time I come here. The reason this place is only 4 is because the poor quality of beef. It's always dry and chewy. Parking is in a very tight and small plaza. I dream about the udon and I'd be happy to come back just for that.

Yelp
I was craving hot pot when I stumbled on this place on yelp! I arrived around 6:30 pm and it wasn't too busy inside as we got seated quickly. There's plenty of seating inside and it was pretty spacious. On each table, there's a QR code for you to scan for the menu and it takes you to a website where you can order from as well. You just have to pay in person and not online. I ordered the beef hot soup at a very spicy level and was surprised by how spicy it was. It wasn't unbearable and had the perfect kick to this dish. Servers came by to refill my pot was soup when it was running low. I'd come back to this place again, it's just that it was a little far from where I lived :).
google avatar

Yelp
Tasty pot hits just about anywhere. Depending on which flavor you want, they come with a choice of rice or extra vermicelli (there's usually a portion inside the soup already). They also have a good portion meat, veggies, tofu, and more making it worth the price. Ask for more broth if you need it! The only thing is that their quality of ingredients doesn't compare to Boiling Point, which is why it's not a 5 star review. If you come during lunch, you get a choice between green or black tea. It's busy during lunch time but there's enough parking in the lot.
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
This is one of the most frequented restaurants I go to with my family largely due to the location (only 5 min from my house!) and because of the food, service, and large amount of seating. I love hot pot and unfortunately there are not a lot of hot pot options in San Diego. I love that this place has individualized pots so everyone can get what they want and aren't forced into sharing and compromising on broths, meats, vegetables, and other ingredients. I always get the coconut curry broth although lately I have been shifting more towards the beef soup. They also have drinks on their menu including milk teas and regular teas. The ambiance is also cute especially their patio seating which is decorated with cute lights.

Yelp
My wife was craving some tastypot for dinner, we haven't been here in awhile but they added a new sizzling beef plate. It reminded me of pepper lunch back home and there is no real places around here that offer sizzling plates it really here so I'm glad I was able to got to try it. There's 2 flavors black pepper sauce and a garlic one I honestly forgot the second flavor but I believe it's garlic. It came out sizzling and looked delicious I recommending stirring and cooking it for a bit but make sure to blow on it before eating it, I did burn my mouth because I was so excited to eat it. It came with beef slices edamame and corn and I chose the black pepper sauce. I think a little more pepper would have been perfect for me but overall it tasted really good. So instead of most people who do like 2 pots of soup, and share, you can share one soup and share the rice plate. I think it's great overall for a meal date to share both meals with each other, just get the order of noodles on the soup side since there will be plenty of rice on the sizzling plate side to share. Enjoy!

Yelp
Me and my girlfriend's comfort food! We are regulars at this location and love it. We always get a Beef Pot with vermicelli. The food is just as good and consistent everytime you eat there. If you go for lunch you get free green/black tea. It is one of our favorite teas to get and we sometimes order it during dinner time (just the standard tea not the honey version). The staff are always attentive and there is even a call button on the ordering site to have someone assist you if you can't call them down right away. The dining area is spacious and comfy, with plenty of tables inside and outside. However, the wait can get lengthy if you come at peak hours. If you are looking for a Boiling Point alternative in SD, this is the place!

Yelp
Used to come here all the time. Service and food quality has gone way down. There are so many other places to go for hot pot. Last two times I've been here that have been issues. First time I was eating in and they got my order wrong. Asked them about it and they brought out the correct add ons but then charged me for both the wrong adds in and the correct ones. The next time I went I requested no ice in two of the drinks. Previously they had done no ice so it wouldn't melt. This time they refused. Apparently the owner was there and they refused to do a drink no ice. Strange, but this place has gone weird recently.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and it was pretty busy. We waited for maybe 15 minutes for a table to open up. I got the beef hot soup for $18.50 which comes with a side of rice or vermicelli. I got it with rice and it was extremely mushy (could barely see the individual grains). Lots of different ingredients but the beef was very dry unfortunately. I appreciated how hot the individual hot pot came.

Romulo A.

Yelp
I went with my coworker friends to this place. The food is really good and the portions are big. Prices are affordable however, since this is a popular spot during peak hours, there is a waitlist. I suggest to make your reservations before you even come to the place. I did my reservations through yelp. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back to this place.

Yelp
If I could pick one hot pot place to recommend in San Diego, it's definitely Tasty Pot! Casual, quick, and delicious! You can order different flavors of hotpots just for 1 person (or it can be split between 2 people!). They give free refills of broth per your request. The only thing is that you need to eat it the food fast before the candle underneath stops boiling! I believe you can request to have another candle underneath but for extra charge. My favorite pot is the stinky tofu and the lamb, so flavorful and has a delicious assortment of vegetables, tofu, and fish cakes. You can even adjust the spice level. I love getting extra spicy! I recommend coming here for a quick bite but if want something hot, filling yet healthy!
google avatar

Crystal K.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends for a girl's lunch and had a feast! Love that they have so many different flavors of broth with tons of preset ingredients, but they're so accommodating about changing things up and customizing to your liking. We got: Spicy Miso Hotpot Tom Yum Hotpot Sizzling Plate w/ rice Mala Skewers & Szechuan Skewers Boba Drinks When you order a Hotpot, you get a choice of a free iced green or black tea! We had all gotten boba too, so the staff was super helpful in putting a seal over our unfinished free teas so we could take them to go. We went on a Sunday and it did start to get pretty packed around noon, so heads up parking can get kinda tight in that shopping center.

Yelp
Great Taiwanese hot pot! It's especially tasty and great on a cold chilly day. I love the lamb hot pot. There's so much food and it's flavorful. They also come around with broth if you need more. The condiments are tasty and adds extra flavor. I love the soy bean paste. Parking is pretty good! Medium size lot. You can also waitlist on Yelp beforehand.

Yelp
I just LOVE Tasty Pot and come here regularly with my sister to the point where I recognize the servers. The spot can get busy at times and on cold nights, but the wait isn't too long and the service is great. The place itself is really big, so they have many tables to seat their customers. I know Tasty Pot is a chain but so far it has been consistently good. What's nice is that you can order individual pots so everyone can try a little bit of everything. They give you a choice of either rice or rice noodles to complement your hot pot. Kimchi dumpling hot pot is my go-to order. I am not the biggest spice eater, so mild has just the right amount of kick (though I have tried medium and it isn't bad either). It comes with a ton of meat (if you get a larger pot, you will get more meat), lots of veggies, and three dumplings. I can't forget to mention the soybean sauce mixed with garlic soy sauce which offers such a good sweet and savory dipping sauce for the hot pot components. My sister likes the Sichuan hot pot, which comes in a large size only. From what I've noticed, it's loaded with numbing chilis and a heaping pile of beef on top. It's her favorite and she craves it every week. If you're into super spicy food, I would recommend this pot for you. I think the service is great. There is one girl with glasses who always asks us if we need water or soup refills, and they are very attentive despite being super busy. I love coming here when I can't decide what to eat, on a cold or rainy day, or just when I'm craving hot pot (which is more often than not).

Yelp
We were visiting a friend in Mira Mesa and on the way to their house we stopped by at Tasty Pot. I ordered the Seafood Hot pot which has the lobster, Taiwanese Supreme and the Curry hot pot. You get either rice or vermicelli on the side. You also had the choice on the spice level of your soup. The place get pretty packed during dinner. Parking is not hard as there were plenty of parking spots. The service was fast and there were servers going around checking on the table and asking iř you need more soup.

Yelp
Cute place. The only thing that threw me off was the ordering. Scan and order, so I didn't know if I could get a refill on rice or have to go back into my phone, scan it, and order again. Also, when seated, it wasn't explained what to do at all. We were left there to figure it out. I guess I could have asked, but what is the use of going out to eat and being served. To be fair, they were friendly, and the food was ok for what it was. Also this is not all you can eat which I like. I like to take home leftovers and can never finish my hot pot. Will I go back no unfortunately not only because it's in san diego a little ways from where I live but because it wasn't my favorite experience and I love new restaurants. I can tell you their drinks.are really good and I loved how they offered to refill your broth. BUT this is my opinion and who knows you might like it.

Yelp
Went here to celebrate a birthday. We didn't have reservations and waited probably 30-45 mins which was not bad! Sat in the outside patio where they had heaters which helped since we had older people that are often cold. You get to scan a QR code to check out the menu and also put in your orders. Loved that they have pictures to see what you're getting. For me I ordered the lamb hot pot which comes with Napa cabbage, Lamb Slices, vermicelli, Enoki Mushroom, Imitation Crabmeat, Meatball, Fish Cake, Kamaboko, Pork Blood Rice Cake, Fried Tofu Skin, Clam, Sour Mustard, Brown Beech Mushroom, Tofu, Cilantro, Pork bone soup. I don't eat red meat but for me I don't mind if it's meat broth. I gave the lamb, meatball, and pork blood rice cake to my parents. For the hot pots it comes individually in a metal bowl that is on top of a holder where it has a little dish on the inside that has fire to make the soup hot. If it gets too hot and you're done with it being steaming piping hot.. theres a little lever to close the lid of the flame. So cool! Also added cheese to my hot pot. Makes it a touch creamier and also I love the melty stringyness of it wrapped in my noodle or veggies. Like a cheesy soup action going on. You get a choice of vermicelli noodles or rice with your order. And you have a small little bowl where you can make your own sauce (chili oil, soy bean chili sauce, garlic soy sauce) to dip your meats and veggies into it. The spice levels range from no spice, mild, medium, spicy, flaming spicy). I got mine spicy and it wasn't too bad. If you're super into spice.. you can handle spicy and even flaming spicy! If you do get the Taiwanese hot pot flavor.. medium spicy might be around spicy level for those who don't know. My mom choked a bit but said the broth was delicious. The broth was very flavorful! I like to take the veggies, tofu, etc and dip it into my sauce and then eat a little bit of rice with it. When the broth cools down that's when I drink the broth and then make a rice soup situation. If you run out of broth, you can ask for more and they pour it from jug. Also this will dilute your spice level a bit but you can always use the sauces to make it more spicy. For the drink I got the Milk Creme Green Tea with grass jelly and half sweet. It tasted like Jasmine Tea with a salty creamy foam. Grass jelly was soft and jiggly. Drink was all right. Not bad for a hot pot place! Service was great! Everyone was so kind and very attentive! Will be back again!

Yelp
Only place to eat Taiwanese stinky tofu pot in San Diego, I like the flavor and the pot is pretty big. For this price, it's kinda very worthy. The down side is the flavor is little too mild so you have to use a lot of the bean paste. Also the Napa cabbage is little bitter somehow. Otherwise, this is a nice place. My husband had their new items, he enjoyed it.

Yelp
Absolutely love tasty pot. My go to place when i want to comfort of hot soup and tasty, fresh ingredients. Sad that the one on convoy was closed as it was much closer to me but the one in Mira mesa is still so good, i will do the drive.

Yelp
The food here is amazing and I am a regular customer here alongside my family. The service can be worked on. Some of the employees (specifically the younger woman who wears glasses) is extremely rude at all times when I come in and she is working. The ambiance is good but maybe quieter music because at times it is too loud.

Yelp
They serve really good soup full of meat, seafood and veggies that are good for you. They serve large portions so will surely fill you up. I appreciate that they kept refilling our broths because the broths are to die for. I ordered stinky tofu broth, umami taste for sure. I love it . I like it better than the taiwanese soup. Taiwanese broth has large chunks of heavenly tendon- to die for. You can take home leftovers. Their sauces are really good: soybeans and garlic sauce and chili oil. Mix them all and dip your meat & veggies on it while eating your rice. Free tea also:)) This place is refreshing and definitely not greedy like many business owners nowadays. Thank you for such good food!

Yelp
I'm glad to report that Tasty Pot has not participate in "shrinkflation" - downsizing their portions or replacing prime ingredients with fillers like more cabbage. The beef pot is still as tasty as ever and hits the spot any time of day. Very savory and satisfying when you customize your pot yourself by adding the provided soy bean sauce, chili oil, and soy. Their bobas are actually really good too. The boba was chewy and the drinks were refreshing, on the sweeter side at 100% sweetness. Service also improved greatly. The Yelp waitlist was accurate and our food came out quick.

Yelp
Been coming to this location for a while now and is always a great go-to for hot pot in MM. Food: There's only one real option here and it's to get the Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup. It has everything in it and is amazing if you want a solid spicy level. If you don't like spicy then any of the other options are good but this is the only option for me. Service: Wait times can be rough some nights for dinner but it's hit or miss. Went recently on Sunday night and only waited for about 10 minutes for 2 people. To order you scan a QR code at your table and order via your phone so make sure someone's phone is charged lol. They'll bring out your order to you and at the end you go to the register to pay. Ambiance: Indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of space. Good for groups of 2-6 but any bigger than that will need finessing of the tables and chairs. They were playing a Twice playlist last time I was there so massive +points for that. Water: Water in a plastic cup but it tastes great with super spicy hot pot. Workers regularly come by to refill so no complaints here!

Yelp
Tasty Pot remains my top choice for hot pot in San Diego! I visit at least once or twice a month. The service is consistently excellent, and the staff are always accommodating. It's convenient to just sit, scan a QR code, and place your order. I'm also a fan of the new additions to the menu, like the meat and veggie skewers, as well as the sizzling rice and udon dishes.

Yelp
Love tasty pot! Lunch special comes with a black tea or green tea drink. I always get extra beef slices and share it with my wife.

Yelp
This is one of my go to spot for hotpot with my friends. There are a variety of toppings that come with it and it is super filling. They also have the option to fill up your pot with more broth and you make a sauce on the side. The service here is good although after you get your food the servers may be less responsive but overall a friendly staff.

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem. Came here on a Sunday night and enjoyed their beef hot pot. Soup base didn't really have flavor, however the sauces on the table enhance the broth. Ordered the beef hot pot and got some extra sides. Service 8/10 Food 7.5/10 Definitely would come back.

Yelp
My family and I come here pretty often (about twice a month), and it's always a great experience. The food's amazing, and we've never had any issues with service. I'd definitely recommend the Szechuan Pot and Taiwanese Supreme. It can get busy sometimes, so checking in on Yelp is a good idea. Totally recommend this place!

Yelp
This had been in my bucket list for a while. Finally managed to come here for lunch with my old colleagues. The hot pots were on point! I ordered the seafood lobster soup. They were pretty generous with the serving sizes. I was so excited to try it out as soon as the food was delivered that I ended up burning my tongue. Small sacrifice . My son ordered the sizzling beef dish. He loved the flavor, but the beef to rice ratio was not well balanced. It was too skewed towards the rice. For that I was only able to give this a 3 star rating. I would still come back here to try the other soups, I just would not be ordering the sizzling beef dish . Happy eating!!

Yelp
So tasty! Especially on cold, winter months when you want to warm up your insides, lol. They are always busy so plan accordingly. My co-workers and I love Tasty Pot. We come here at least once a month after work and fill up on their delicious soup. The 3 of them always order the beef soup while I opt for the cheesy milk soup with a side of dumplings. You can choose either a side of rice or vermicelli which you then cook in the broth. To order: you basically scan the barcode on your phone, scan the barcode and you're done. Beef Soup: Cabbage, sliced beef, tomato, tofu, corn, meatball, clam, imitation crab meat and fish cake. This is their go-to, always. Although one of them has a massive tolerance to heat so she also goes for the Sichuan Flavor Hot Soup. It's a miracle her head doesn't burst into flames and she quite enjoys the broth while the rest of us take one sip and have to take huge gulps of ice water because we are a bunch of heat intolerant wusses. But I digress. Cheesy Milk Hot Soup: Cabbage, sausage, enoki mushrooms, tomato, corn, broccoli, tofu, cheese and some other stuff. I like to add dumplings into my broth at an additional charge. You can also add on a ton of other things like extra beef slices, lotus root, quail egg, etc. Lots of options for even the pickiest of eaters. They also serve boba drinks which are okay. Not my favorite but it doesn't matter since I'm there for the hot pot. Anyone else addicted to that miso paste sauce that you dip your meant into? I swear I could drink it on it's own. Too bad they don't sell it, they'd make a fortune off of that stuff! Parking is miniscule but there's more parking on the other side that wraps around the restaurant. Service, always fast and friendly. Thank you Tasty Pot! See you next month.

Yelp
This spot has pretty good hot pot! I do recommend it if you are a person who wants to try hot pot for the first time because it is beginner friendly and less intense in flavors. There are so many options to choose from. You can also go by yourself as my friends and I (and most people) order individual pots! I got the Japanese Miso hot pot with zero spice. It was super light in flavor, which is exactly what I wanted. I love the variety of meat and seafood in these pots. The staff at this specific place are very friendly and constantly check up on us. I went with a big group of friends and we sat outside and the staff were still very attentive.

Yelp
My friend and I were trying to figure out a place to eat but somewhere that didn't offer AYCE as I've had toooo many the past month (stomach cannot handle!) She wanted hot pot, and I remember seeing this chain restaurant that is also located in Seattle that I kept mixing up with Boiling Point LOL. Decided to check it out! It's located next to Thien Huon on the back side of the Oak Tree Plaza on Mira Mesa Blvd in Mira Mesa. There's ample parking stalls around that won't be a problem. I got their Beef Hot Soup but changed the soup base to Tom Yum (free of charge!). Loved the combination of the vegetables and proteins with the sourness of the tom yum. MMM. Definitely similar (if not, exact concept) as Boiling Point in Seattle. Flavor was good and the amount of food provided was enough for me. I also tried their Milk Creme Wintermelon drink which was soooo refreshing. I got it 50% and it was the perfect sweetness that balanced the temperature hot foods. My friend and her boyfriend shared one but ordered additional sides. Their flame came out almost nonexistent and could barely boil their pot. We asked the server to light it up, and they curtly said that everything was already cooked. What's the point of having this as a boiling pot then? But my friends eventually got their pot to boil and enjoyed the food. Since they only ordered one pot, it wasn't enough food for the both of them LOL. YUM. I love these individual hot pot concept as there's sooo much food in one pot for such a great price! Definitely will be back soon.
