Tasty Pot - Review - North Beach - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Tasty Pot in the Richmond has reopened in North Beach. The Taiwanese hot pot spot has individual pots that can be filled with everything from fermented tofu and dumplings to lobster, octopus, and clams. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Julia Chen

It was my first hot pot experience where I did not have to cook - the hot pot comes fully cooked to your specifications. The sizzling platter comes with all the ingredients. You just put things together and cook it as long as you want. The pot comes with a shield so nothing flies onto you. Service is excellent. The servers come frequently to check on you. Atmosphere is clean, friendly and welcoming. Ingredients are fresh, dishes are presented well, food is flavorful and portions are ample.

So glad they opened SF location. Spacious and clean interior. Scan menu to order on phone. Broth refill on request Lamb pot, beef pot- 5/5 Cheesy milk pot 4/5 - not sure what I expected but it was good, there’s actually no milk in the broth, which is made from pork bone. Felt like drinking cheese Basil popcorn chicken - 4/5 still good, gets cold fast so eat while it’s hot!

Solid food and friendly service! The Schezuan hot pot was nice and spicy and chock full of yummy ingredients. The sizzling rice dish with black pepper beef was solid too. We especially liked the healthy dollop of garlic butter on top and the optional egg. Our only complaints were: 1) Our waitress kept forgetting items we requested, like an extra bowl and napkins 2) They also forgot to add coconut lychee jelly to my drink

You can’t miss it — the bright red and yellow interior is a head-turner, rich with saturated colors that reminded me of a Pedro Almodóvar film. It’s located at the famous corner of Grant and Green — a name that made me think of the jazz guitarist Grant Green, whose cool, bluesy style would’ve fit the mood perfectly. I had a great conversation with the owner about our shared experiences with Asian street food. He’s right — Asian diners tend to order soup dishes, while Anglo-Saxons go for drier, meat-heavy plates. Loved the vegetarian spring rolls — fresh and crisp. I’ll definitely be coming back for the soups.

So glad they just opened this new location in North Beach! The food taste good and the service is very nice! The ladies attending this restaurant make you feel really comfortable and they check in with you very often to see if you want more soup/tea. Had an amazing experience yesterday. Totally worth it.

Peace Love

Had a delicious dinner earlier. It’s my first time at this location and their service was great too.

Google
We always have a habit of coming in late, this location closes at 10pm it’s perfect! Staff is super nice and in my opinion beats the other location. The soup base and ingredients here are very delicious and the soup base is very flavorful. At the other location it’s very watered down. Did I mention the chicken wings? Super juicy and flavorful, never had it dry! This location is a hidden gem out of all of the other Tasty Pot locations I have been to. Parking is a hassle but it is very worth it. Staff is very nice even when we come last minute. Wish they could keep boba in stock before closing but that’s our fault for coming in late— definitely understandable! Just a suggestion :) Please keep it up the same with the quality and the flavorful ness! We will definitely be back to this location whenever we crave TastyPot!

First time experience was really great and service was well served. Food was really tasty and the price was decent. Overall, I will recommend to friends and family and definitely ill come again.

Yelp
As soon as you walk in there are a few table and you wonder how they are able to stay in business, but once you make the turn then the rest of the restaurant and tables appear. I had the beef sizzling plate with the udon and mushroom sauce and that's my new favorite item Anyways, I definetly recommend y'all stopby and try them out when you're in the area

Yelp
We decided to try this place since we're big fans of Boiling Point and wanted to experience a different Taiwanese hotpot spot. The food turned out to be great! We ordered the beef soup and curry soup--both were flavorful and came with more seafood balls than Boiling Point. The portions aren't as large, which actually worked out well since we still had room for dessert afterward. The restaurant is new, and the staff were friendly and attentive. If you're a fan of Boiling Point or hotpot in general, I'd recommend giving this place a try at least once and seeing how it compares for yourself.

Yelp
This place was delicious and surprisingly affordable. A hot pot will feed one hungry man or 2 women. The broth was delicious. The restaurant is no frills and the food is solid. We had 2 hot pots for 5 people (3 men + 2 women), could have eaten 3 hot pots. This location is an easy walk from the Financial District and perfect for after work. We'll be back.

Yelp
You can't beat a great hot pot and this place hit this spot. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for some Taiwanese fare.

Yelp
3.5 STARS Date: Monday, March 10th, 2025 Party of: 2 Meal: Lunch Delivery How Ordered: DoorDash Time Ordered: around 2pm Time Delivered: around 3:15pm Delivered to: Outer Richmond 10. Japanese Miso Hot Soup (W) / 日式味噌鍋 (Wd) $21.95 12. Seafood Lobster Hot Soup (Wd) / 海鮮龍蝦鍋 (Wd) $23.95 *Roe Fishball / 魚子魚丸 ($4.95) *Basil Popcorn Chicken ($8.75) I crave hot pot quite a bit. When I saw Tasty Pot had a location in the city, I decided to order delivery. We typically order from the Daly City location, which is about the same distance from us as this one. Tho delivery took longer from here. I have my standard order ( 9. Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup), but I decided to try something new. I am a huge seafood fan, so why not get the lobster hotpot? The tail was a decent size. Obviously overcooked, but it wasn't too tough or chewy. The pot had a good amount of ingredients - Napa, Lobster, Soft Tofu, Vermicelli, Enoki Mushroom, Seaweed Knot, Brown Beech Mushroom, Zucchini, Black Fungus, King Oyster Mushroom, Taro, Shrimp, Fish Filler, Mussel, Baby Octopus, Clam, Cuttlefish Ring, Eggie Fishball, Lobster Ball, Kamaboko, Scallion, Pork bone soup. I did missed the spice of my normal Taiwanese pot. This didn't have much heat even tho I got it Flaming Spicy. The fish balls were fine. Tho I wish they weren't the fried version. I would not order the popcorn chicken again. Pieces were tiny and over battered. Fun trying a new hotpot spot. REVIEW #3741

Yelp
Had an amazing experience at Tasty Pot. I ordered the beef pot and substituted the tomato- based broth- what a game changer! The flavor was incredible, rich, and satisfying with every spoonful. I love the vibe here too, they've got the best 90s and early 2000s R&B playlist going that really takes you back. Nothing like slurping hot pot while Usher and TLC are setting the mood. Staff was super friendly too. Definitely coming back again.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night for dinner and we got seated right away. Service was nice and friendly but a bit slow at times. The food was great! We shared one bowl between two people and ordered some extra toppings. I think this is plenty of food as long as they keep the broth coming. Meat was well prepared, veggies were tasty, and broth was nice and hot! It felt like a meal that just kept giving. Would definitely come back here and try something else. The ambiance is pretty average. It was nice and a great place to grab dinner with some friends and catch up.

Yelp
So happy they opened another location in SF (miss the Clement St one). This new location is not great for parking, so I took an uber here. (I went here for a yelp elite event so my food was complimentary.) Got seated within 10 minutes. The seafood soup with lobster tail was my favorite and probably still is! This location also added a new dish - sizzling beef platter and you pick between black pepper or a mushroom sauce and rice or udon that comes with it. My boyfriend chose the black pepper sauce and udon. It was tasty but definitely high pepper taste of course. I would try the mushroom sauce next time. Very big portion and you can definitely share. The seafood soup was good as always. Service started a little slow because it was really busy and there was only one real server and the other two workers were doing drinks and bussing tables. Everyone was friendly though. The restaurant is decent size but I'd still expect a wait on more popular going out to eat nights. You order via QR code from the table, and the food comes out in 15 minutes or less. They still use their red chairs! Happy to have this location in SF!

Yelp
I love this place!! Every time I've gone, the portion sizes are huge and super affordable. I've tried the kimchi dumpling, Taiwanese supreme spicy, and lamb hot soups. My favorite so far is definitely the Taiwanese supreme spicy. Also, the sizzling plates are amazing. We got ours with the mushroom sauce and cheese added (I was skeptical at first but it's worth adding!). Service has been impeccable too. They're always coming by to make sure that the food tastes good and that we have enough broth. There are TVs in the place where they put on NBA games, and they were nice enough to give us seats right in front of the TV both times we went. For now, it's really easy to find seating but I wouldn't be surprised in the future if it gets packed.

Yelp
This is the first location that I've seen the Sizzling Plate offered. Portions are big and between two people, we still had enough leftovers to bring home for another meal. We got the sizzling plate with black pepper sauce and the beef hot pot with mild sauce. I've been to the Geary and Westlake locations many times so the beef hot pot is always consistently good at all the locations. Sizzling plate was new to me and might be a new go-to as we like the option of sharing both a plate and hot pot so that we can have a little bit of both. Servers were very friendly and refilled our hotpot with more broth each time. I also like that they were playing 90s and early 2000s throwbacks! Parking is somewhat difficult to find but we really got lucky with our spot directly across the street.

Yelp
We have been to Tasty Pot at Westlake before but this new place is classy. Nice vibrant red upholstered seating and bright colors. Westlake is kind of dark. Was checked in and seated right away. Staff very helpful, polite and cheerful. Found street parking half a block away, "score!" We ordered the Taiwanese Supreme Hot Pot mild... so good and my favorite. Lots of noodles and veggies. Also got the Sizzling Plate with rice and added an egg. Savory and the beef was nicely crisped on the hot plate. Ordered sweet milk tea and Taro milk tea both refreshing. Add on the fried calamari strips. Hot and crispy was a nice appetizer to start with. Nice to come to North Beach for the nice SF weather and see folks enjoying themselves.

Yelp
In a sea of Italian restaurants, it was fun to discover a Taiwanese hot pot joint. Except it's not a cook-your-own-hot-pot situation, but rather a preconfigured pot boiling at your table. Loved all the flavors! Basil Popcorn Chicken: Addictively crunchy. There were no basil leaves standalone, so maybe they were in the batter attached the chicken. Anyway, a hearty sauce of protein. Beef Hot Pot w/ Instant Noodles: This is the perfect meal for someone that loves a little bit of everything! While there are lots of nice slices of beef, there's also a ton of other proteins like meatballs, fishcake, imitation crab, tofu, clams and tofu skin. The dipping sauces on the side are pretty good to complement those proteins, I especially like the soybean chili sauce since it was thick and stuck to whatever you were dipping. There were also a lot of veggies. It came with vermicelli noodles, but I added instant noodles for my free carb side to have another noodle texture. It's a bit slow eating while it's boiling, but you can scarf it down faster when it cools a bit. I especially like how they offered more broth, for free, when I was running low. Cheesy Milk Hot Soup w/ Lamb Slices: Very unique. Really like the spicy meats creamy combo. A little like that viral pink Buldak. The default meat was pork slices, but I saw lamb as a substitution, so got that instead since I love lamb. The mish mash of items in the soup was similar to the other pots, though there might be some unique items like the mini-sausage. One weird thing was that if I got a spoonful of mostly soup, without much else, it kinda reminded me of warm cereal milk. So be sure to not do that. Sizzling Plate w/ Black Pepper Sauce & Cheese: After having two soups here, decided to go for a change of pace. It's well hidden at the very bottom of the QR code menu, with no picture, but definitely worth checking out. Comes out sizzling with the beef cooking. I mixed it a little bit after it arrived and then let it sit longer so the rice got crisp. Tons of tangy black pepper sauce for lots of flavor. Fun and delicious.

Yelp
I am so happy that Tasty Pot finally open again in SF and its walking distance from me too. I came in on a cold raining evening. Perfect for hotpot. I think hotpot is good in any weather. I love tasty because the flavors are always there and I don't have to share. Ha! They have almost everything you need for a hot pot experience and if you wanted more or extra items, they have add on too. Normally, I don't need any add ons because it is enough for me. We also tried their popcorn chicken. That was delicious too. Service is friendly and they come by to ask if you want a refill on your soup too. Came here twice already since opening.

Yelp
The seafood lobster pot had a really good variety of toppings that included shrimp, clams, mussels, fish balls, lobster ball, etc. I love variety, and every bite was something different! The lobster was a pretty decent size and I liked how they split it so it was easy to peel/eat. Taste-wise it was just okay. We got an add-on order of beef and i didn't think the quality was that good. the rice that came with the meal was also hard/dry. Service was great! I'd come back for an easy family dinner since we live in the area but probably not something I would be craving.

Yelp
This is a good place if you're in the mood for hot pot but not in the mood to cook it yourself. All you need to do is just choosing from the menu and your individual hot will be delivered to your table piping hot and ready to eat. Big selection with variety of broths and assorted ingredients to choose from. I can see this is going to be a popular place soon. It's good that they open this location when their Clement Street location closed. Tourists will find out about this place in no time. Good service and comfortable ambiance. I've had the stinky tofu broth and an order of stinky tofu appetizer. Their stinky tofu is not as pungent as the original Taiwanese stinky tofu, but it wasn't bad. I still enjoyed it. I wish this place luck and I hope they're doing well. And yes, I would come again.
google avatar

Michelle Y.

Yelp
So glad there's a Tasty Pot in SF again after the one on Clement closed! I've been waiting for this one to open and didn't see anything online about it opening, but I randomly walked by and saw that it was open! It's always my go to comfort meal! My favorite is the Satay Beef with rice (medium spicy) but I also enjoy the Taiwanese Supreme Spicy and Sezchuan ones as well. Service at this particular location is quick and the servers are really nice as well. Christina is the sweetest girl ever. Since this is in North Beach, parking can be kind of a pain but you can usually park in Chinatown and walk up here.

Yelp
Cool new restaurant. I like our lobster tasty pot and beef rice dish shared among three of us with some extra beef, quail egg and veggie.

Yelp
great service - staff was super friendly and informative! super clean as well. excited to see a tasty pot location in the city, near lots of great bars and spots for afters as well. the food is as expected - great with fresh ingredients. the sizzling plate was a new menu item for us - the black pepper sauce was super flavorful.

Yelp
Something was off. Ordered the kimchi pot. There was hardly any flame so we had to flag the staff down. At first they said it was nothing. The potsticker was luke warm. They took it back to the kitchen and gave it back with the flame. The soup was then able to boil. They served us the shrimp with black spots. Never seen that in a shrimp. They said it was okay to eat but they offered to replace it. Yes please. We had to ask for rice. Unspoken, the pot comes with a choice of rice and noodle. It doesn't say that on the menu but my co-eater said it exists. She got the bowl of rice. We ordered more than $45 so we got a free appetizer. We got 5 pieces of wings and calamari was free. The staff had to go back and asked if offer is still good. I guess new staff didn't know. Staff were good to come and top off water and gives us more broth. So service was good. We ate half and brought home half. I had the hot pan beef and rice with butter and cheese. Very fattening but yummy.
google avatar

Kendra H.

Yelp
Got the Thai spicy and the spicy miso which were both really tasty! My main concern here was that they basically refused to give us water.... She asked us if we wanted water or tea (tea is free during lunch time) and I said tea. Later when she comes back with the tea, I asked if I could get an iced water as well. She said that we only do one or the other because if she gave us both, there would be four cups on the table??? Mind you, this table could've fit much more than four cups LOL. Service was definitely odd at this location.

Yelp
Had a delicious dinner earlier. It's my first time at this location and their service was great too.

Yelp
Super happy that a Tasty Pot opened up near me! My partner and I came in for a weeknight dinner and were promptly seated. I wish I remember our server's name as she was absolutely wonderful - going over the menu thoroughly with us and making sure our soup was always plentiful. I got the stinky tofu pot with a side of stinky tofu and not only did it taste good but the portion was also very large! I finished about half my food and was able to enjoy it for 2 smaller meals at home after adding in some extra broth! The tofu could be more pungent but I still really enjoyed it and am glad there's a place that serves this in the neighborhood. This location also has two sizzle plate options that I'm looking forward to trying!
google avatar

Jeffrey W.

Yelp
Pretty good hot pot - good boiling point sub since there are none in the city. Fried chicken came with no basil. Taste is better than their Berkeley location and took a while for food to come but our server Christina helped warm up the evening a lot!
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
First off, the person who helped us, Christina was SO NICE! I came here with my family during their grand opening. It was super lively because there were lion dancer performers outside so it was really busy. Even though it was super busy, Christina and the other people here were super nice and helpful. My parents loved the food because they said it tasted really flavorful. They also liked how the noodle tasted inside the warm pot. Would recommend :)
google avatar

Phoebe W.

Yelp
Always wanted to try this place and it did not disappoint! Ordering here is super easy and the food was pretty tasty. I ordered a Beef Sizzling plate and it was around $20. Furthermore the staff is quite nice and checked in on us often.

Susan M.

Yelp
We loved this place! Ordered using QR code at table. Reasonable prices and very tasty meals.

Yelp
Amazing service and delicious food!!!! One of our favorite spots to go on the weekend.
google avatar

Jen G.

Yelp
As good as the clement one was! Friendly service, small spot. I got lucky with parking. I like to get the veggie or seafood pots. Happy this opened up!

Tiffany L.

Yelp
The service was amazing, especially Christina. My little niece loved the noodles and rice (because I poured some soup over it hehehe). The portion was a good size for me, my stomach was very satisfied. Lunch came with free tea and it was hmmm about 10% sweet which went very well with the pot.
google avatar

Regina L.

Yelp
Love the personal sized hot pot! They used to have a Clement St location and I was so bummed when it closed but now it's in North Beach. Wish they were closer to me but it's ok. I love walking around north beach. Such a cute area.

Vi N.

Yelp
Service was very friendly. We both got the beef pot and both enjoyed it. It was a nice portion and reasonable pricing! 1 pot was filling for my bf and I ate about half a pot in 1 serving. The chicken wings were really tasty!! Very crispy and yummy. Definitely hit the spot.

Princess T.

Yelp
Last night, we went to Tasty Pot for dinner. The restaurant is in a lively location around many shops! The service was very hospitable and efficient! They have options to place orders on a POS system on your phone or with the beautiful waitresses. We ordered the Japanese Miso flavor hotpot and it was delicious! It was served to us in less than 10 mins! Came out piping hot with a sterno flame underneath! Their is options to order the meat of your choice and the spicy level. The flavor of the broth was perfect! It included all kinds of yummy varieties of vegetables, tofu, meatballs, noodles and other goodies! Absolutely satisfying! The inside of the restaurant has a nice clean colorful setup with artwork of San Francisco on the walls and the furniture has modern look. I definitely will be back again to try their other hotpot flavors and recommend to try this restaurant!

Eric J.

Yelp
It's great that something new came into the North Beach neighborhood. I'm hoping that North Beach can boom back to how it was before the pandemic. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Gotta love the variety of food they have on the menu Definitely a 10/10

Selina L.

Yelp
The food is good but they gave me the wrong tea 3 times. The third time they added ice to my hot tea. The place is clean and the food portion is average. The service ruined my review of this location

a s.

Yelp
The tasty pots and service are good, but the music is always BLASTING way too loud. People talking loudly is enough- don't need that and loud music going on at the same time. It is not a relaxing atmosphere.
google avatar

SinNie H.

Yelp
Food is good. Service for food is fast. There are tvs to watch. With a the sound with it. No music.
google avatar

Kid N.

Yelp
Solid cold weather meal amist bar hopping neighborhood that satisfies and nourishes the soul. The odd combination of cheese and milk in an Taiwanese hotpot for one includes slices of pork, quail eggs, napa cabbage, and surprise appearances of mini sausage, enoki mushroom, tomato, corn, broccoli, king oyster mushroom, quail egg, cheese, bamboo shoot, soft tofu, imitation crabmeat, fish fillet, fish tofu, and kamaboko, all in a savory pork broth. Other recommended individual-sized pots our party ordered are the Japanese Miso, the standard Hot Beef Soup, the spicier Curry Beef, the Taiwanese Stinky Tofu, and the Seafood Fillet, which came with a chunky lobster tail. For those who did not want a soup/hotpot, we saw sizzling plates being served as well. Going to try that on our next visit. Bubble drinks were weak, but that may be because of the soups were flavorful in comparison. Single pot prices (around $20) are a better bet than your usual AYCE prices, especially here in SF.
google avatar

David Z.

Yelp
Food was great tasted just like the one in the west-lake area. Great addition to north beach. Service is wonderful as well staff is very knowledgeable. Something to remember is that they are still adjusting to people and the foot traffic so POS is not 100% on point yet.

Abbylyn R.

Yelp
Great service and the food was amazing! Went with a girl friend on a random Sunday which wasn't too busy and had a wonderful easy experience

Calvin Z.

Yelp
The food is amazing as always and the staff is lively and super. Good music choice too 10/10

Patrick Y.

Yelp
If you're visiting or you happen to be near Chinatown on Broadway St. This place is only few blocks away, they got some tasty hot soups and sizzling rice with mushrooms sauce and boba drinks and appetizers like crispy chicken wings and more, and they are lots bigger pieces and crispy than other places and also if you're tired of Chinese food I recommend you give yourself a try. First time we came here was grand opening and we have been the regulars since. I met the owner and employees they make you feel welcome!!

Analysa C.

Yelp
Super delicious hot pot. Brand new to north beach. Service was great and the pot was enough to feed 2 people heftily!

Evelyn F.

Yelp
Great customer service! Love the positive energy from the staff(Christina). I ordered the number 1 of the menu and replaced it with pork instead of the beef (mild spicy level), I would say mild does taste slightly spicy with the shacha sauce.
google avatar

Vicky Z.

Yelp
portions are good! we got the lamb hot soup and it was tasty! the food came fast and the servers are super nice

Lisa G.

Yelp
I have been reading and hearing great things about this Tasty Pot which opened recently in the North Beach area. I finally decided to go there on a quiet night to see if the reviews were accurate. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food tasted even raising my expectations another level up. My friend and I shared a Sizzling udon dish with pork instead of the customary beef. The pork came out so tender and tasty that the earlier reviews about trying their Sizzling hot plate is this Tasty Pot location was unbelievably good. This is my first try at Sizzling plate in and was so impressed how accurate the other reviews I read raving about this location Sizzling plate dishes. The other dish my friend ordered was their Stinky Tofu Vegetable soup dish. Wow....another winner knowing that it is not easy to find a place in North Beach let alone San Francisco to serves pipping hot Stinky Tofu. Grew up eating this dish in Cambodia and this one dish definitely hits the spot. Geeze waited so long to try this restaurant turned out to be a gold mine find. This may well be my regular go to spot for all my friends and family....what a nice find!!!

Simona K.

Yelp
Super yummy food, and you can specify your spice level too. Plus the most kind and warm staff! Can't wait to make this one of my new local spots

Amanda F.

Yelp
Way to damn expensive!! But food was just ok not for that price. The ppl very friendly I like them I would tip them.

Martin P.

Yelp
Big fan of the Szechuan pot. Glad there's a tasty pot in SF. The staff is super friendly and attentive!

Ethan K.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and great service! I'm a big tasty pot fan and am glad there's a local location for me to dine in
