Beautiful space with a nice garden in the back. Service was fast and friendly. The Torta Ahogada TATA (cochinita pibil) was fantastic and served with, what I believe was a poblano consommé (my Spanish is weak, so wasn't sure I understood correctly). I've never had a torta served this way, but it just worked!

My hotel recommended this, and I loved every bite. My server Dante spoke great English which made for an incredibly educational and informative tasting experience. He was full of stories about all the different meals and drinks of the Michoacan region. And the food was incredible. I had a local fish that was cooked in a traditional method. I also tried the cocktail Tiki, which used a regional rum like spirit called charanda. Be sure to try some drinks here and ask him to tell you the stories behind them, and what Michoacan mezcals are different from the ones you’ll find in Oaxaca or other pets of Mexico! I love when servers are passionate and informed about the food and drinks they serve. He is a server made for true foodies!

We came here for our 5th anniversary and had an amazing time! Delicious and beautifully presented food. 2 for 1 cocktails after 5 pm. A nice wine list with lots of reasonably priced options by the glass or bottle. Great service and a very nice atmosphere as well. We loved everything, thank you!!

Three years after first excellent visit high expectations were met. Cocktails are varied and well prepared. Food is consistently tasty and pleasingly presented. Great service three years ago was matched by young man Dante. Knowledgeable about food, cocktails are mezcal. Accommodated my lack of Spanish with his English.

Google
Highly recommended. The food was excellent and beautifully plated. On Tuesdays they offer some quite unique tacos that were delicious - such as a falafel taco and a crunchy taco with salmon. The decor is beautiful and artistic. Very good service as well. Perhaps the only negative is that they are a bit pricey - but it is worth it for a special meal out.

Excellent food in a very cool space. Veterinarian options which were fantastic too. Service was lacking unfortunately.

The service was great. I am English only speaking and the waiter was able to accommodate me. He gave great service with good recommendations! I noticed he kept an eye on me and as soon as I finished a dish and was ready for the next he went to the kitchen in got me one! Very attentive! The food was delicious and the presentation was great

This place is amazing. The staff, the food and the atmosphere are Two thumbs up. The tuna and the pulpo with pork rinds were sooo good. They also have dozens of mezcals as options.

Yelp
Really beautiful ambiance. You wouldn't know if you were walking by it on the street, but you are transported the minute you walk in. From seeing the collection of drink bottles, to the ample amount of seating in various locations (indoor/outdoor). Friendly service. They had QR codes for menus, which was great because it was still following safe protocols! Food was delicious (esp their famous pie!) Mezcal was out of this world. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
While we recently visited Morelia for a ceremony, we came across this establishment by sheer luck. It was such a wonderful dining experience that we made sure to stop in once more before departing for home. We had a large group & we all agreed that the food was beyond delicious. The service was excellent & friendly. When I say that several of us discussed our willingness to travel to Morelia again (from Los Angeles) to repeat our dining pleasure, I am not kidding. They had a variety of choices & we were all raving about our selections. Of course we had our share of Mezcal too. Gracias a Tata y todos por ser muy amables y ademas la comida excelente.

Yelp
Tata is one of the restaurants which you cannot miss while you are in Morelia. Slightly pricy for Morelia , but the food is incredible. The best recommendations for everything.

Yelp
First time in Morelia and I decided to visit this restaurant per recommendations as well as good reviews. Upon arrival, you find yourself in a really modern and trendy restaurant with beautiful interior design. We were immediately seated and it took us quite sometime to understand the menu considering my Spanish is kinda choppy. However, the waitress who attended to us was actually from the states and was able to help us figure out what would be best for us. We went with the chicharrón appetizer, which wasn't bad and was actually tasteful. A free appetizer came that was made of cheese and we weren't to fond of it. Then we order fish tacos and I went with the huarache. Both dishes were decent at best, but nothing really stood out glaringly. I ordered a Liberatadore beer, which was good and my wife ordered a Paloma. The dessert was decent too, we ordered the one with 4 different small desserts and found the avocado pasty to be the best. Overall, I liked the presentation and vibe, but probably wouldn't revisit considering the menu was limited. I gave a 4/5 because the serving team was exceptional and provided stellar customer service to my wife and I.

Yelp
We stopped here for drinks on our Morelia trip as it was highly rated. The drinks were great - large variety of mezcal. We did not get any food but the menu items looked unique. The ambiance was incredible and service was great!

Yelp
The food here was delicious! By, far the taste was supreme of each dish that we had. The ambience of the restaurant was quiet and romantic, which was perfect for us. I definitely, recommend this restaurant in Morelia, Michoacán and we will be coming back to this place when we visit this city in the future.

Yelp
Incredible! So creative, with deep roots in regional cuisine. The Enchiladas Morelianas Tate were really flavorful, with so many different sauces to taste and mix. The mango dollups were phenomenal, the crema de rancho was almost sweet and so light. Happy hour from 6-8pm is such a great deal too, 2x1 with the cocktails. I tried the Pasión Mezcalera, incredible with fresh passion fruit pulp. I love it all and will be back prontito. Gracias Tata!

Yelp
I've been in Morelia a couple of weeks and have been back for the great food here. If you go at lunch time there's a free shot of tequila and a free small bowl of soup. At dinner time there is a free appetizer. The appetizers are really good and the mains have been a hit with myself and my dining partners. The only thing I don't recommend is the ravioli with fish... I'd leave the pasta to the Italians. Service is fantastic and you can't beat the atmosphere, super fun! I highly recommend the duck! So delicious!!

Yelp
One of the highlights of our trip to Morelia. Exceptionally creative food with combinations none of us had ever seen for Mexican cuisine. The chicharrones were probably the best we'd ever had, we ordered a second plate! Other highlights were the dock mole and lamb tacos, really excellent food all round. The mezcal menu and cocktails were also fantastic, the mezcal was in a separate book broken out by agave species and then region of Mexico. We didn't know where to start but the waiter was very helpful. Cocktails were great, we had one that we probably wouldn't order again but are glad we tried. Also a hot tip: happy hour goes until 8:00PM, two for one cocktails, can't go wrong with that!

Yelp
Overall pretty good food. Took a while to locate the place. But worth the effort to get there. It's listed as a mezcal bar but they serve a decent array of dishes. The atmosphere is very cool, almost jungle like. Yes they have a few vegan or vegetarian plates as well.

Yelp
If you have one meal in Morelia come to Tata's. Chef Fermin Ambas is a genius, his food engages spices and pallets from all over the world and he creates works of art on his plates. Presentation and aesthetics are emasculate and the portioning is ideal for exploring the menu. Everything I tried kept me wanting to taste more, it was the only restaurant I frequented more than once during my stay in Morelia. The food and ambiance alone is worthwhile, but the service was friendly, engaging, refined and oh so hospitable. Benni and Irritzi enhanced our experience with prompt and attentive service as well as being well versed with all the flavors on the menu and the best drink pairing with the meals. Absolutely loved this place!!!!

Yelp
The place is amazing, really pretty, great service, Chile in nogada is delicious, duck is really good, enchiladas have good flavor, desserts are also so good, avocado cheesecake is really different but good, panacota is way better

Yelp
This place is very original. Attention to detail with the drinks, food, and atmosphere. Chill spot any time of the day with extensive Mezcal list and great New Mexican dishes.

Yelp
One of Morelia's gems for food and drinks. The attention to detail in the food and in how they explain every dish and drink to you makes the experience even better. I had two mezcal samplers - one from Michoacán and one from Oaxaca. They were four shots each so proceed with caution!! I also had a fish taco sampler. I don't remember the exact name of the dish but it had sort of a hibiscus dressing. They were incredible. What I love about this place is that they take pride in local cuisine and pay homage to old classics by giving them a contemporary twist. I'll go out of my way to return every time I'm back in Morelia. P.S. I don't recall the name of the waiter, but he's a gentleman who's originally from Mexico City. I had a great conversation with him about local cuisine and drinks.

Yelp
Top end meal in a casual atmosphere. From service to dessert, best we've had in Mexico!

Yelp
Morelia is a provincial city with a beautiful colonial arquitecture. A small city with a thriving culinary community. Tata is one of such places. A mezcaleria with a gourmet touch. I prefer tradicional restaurants but Tata is a worthy experience. Free mezcal and yummy sweet pepper cream, like a pepper salmorejo. Chapulines (seared crickets) were great. Chamorro was ok, too saucy but ok. Service was excellent. Great Mexican wine for a fair price. Dessert list is extensive. Will be back soon. The decor is great too. David was the greatest waiter.
