A DU-area standby where the namesake Tatsu ramen and classic shoyu stand out. Included in 5280’s ramen guide and loved for dependable takeout-friendly packaging, it’s a low-key shop with faithful broths.

If you're in the DU area, I feel Tatsu is a must try! The food was great, everyone enjoyed what they got. My kimchi ramen was killer! It's not a large place and it was filling up quickly during our visit. Looking forward to heading back when in the area!

Google
Unpretentious, cozy sushi spot with quiet ambiance and fun decor. I was blown away by the freshness and flavor of our sushi at such an affordable price! The tokidoki roll was my absolute favorite, the salmon had such a delicious smoky flavor. I will be dreaming about it until my next visit. Service was prompt, welcoming, and attentive. Definitely one of my new favorite sushi spots!

We were staying in Cherry Creek and looked up Ramen places. Even though there were some nearer to our hotel, I looked up reviews and this place was highly recommended. We all ordered the Tonkatsu ramen and we all loved it! The pork had a lovely grill flavor and the egg was perfect because it wasn't to soy-saucy marinated. The noodles were classic and the bowl was huge! Service was friendly and fast. Highly recommend.

Google
We had the Yaki Ika - Grilled Whole Squid, which was spectacular. Very good Agedashi Tofu as well. My husband had the Kimchi Pork and I the Tonkotsu Ramen which were both lovely. Highly recommend this place, service was attentive and very friendly.

Google
Great atmosphere and service here. I got the spicy miso ramen with chasu and it was quite satisfying spicy! Place as a welcoming atmosphere, the only thing I would say that was not up to par was the small awkward paring lot, so small for all the businesses in that area.

Google
I had a fantastic experience with both the food and service. We tried the Tonkotsu ramen, chicken karaage, and a selection of rolls, all of which were exceptional. I opted for rice noodles as a gluten-free alternative for the ramen, and they were superb—much better in texture than many other gluten-free noodles, which can often be quite hard. Overall, everything was delicious.

Went here last night for date night with the siblings. It was a last minute decision we made. We didn’t make a reservation but luckily we got seated fast. Our waitress was good. Got few appetizers and then different ramens. I got the Tan tan with grilled chicken. It was decent. The pao bun and the fried chicken was the best dish there. Didn’t like the ramens that much. It had flavor but not like the ones we had before. But at least they were friendly and nice enough to seat us immediately.

Google
very delicious ramen (veggie ramen w/ shrimp, the noodles were perfect texture) and hamachi kama (i ordered medium well), will definitely be back again. everything came out relatively quickly, price was not excessive and everyone was so helpful.

Yelp
Love it! Came here for dinner, did family style with friends. The dishes in order of preference 1. Spicy donkatsu ramen - has a nice kick, rich broth 2. Katsu curry plate 3. Bloody hamachi roll 4. Salmon roll Service was great and friendly, and price came out to only $60 total, really good value! We were all stuffed as well. Would come back.

Yelp
This place is pretty cool. It's in a small shopping plaza, and I mean really small. Parking can be a pain. But the food is worth it. I felt like getting some fried rice, so I got that with the Chashu Pork. It was great. Girlfriend got the Unagi Bowl and loved it. Drinks were brought out quickly and we never waited too long for service at all. We will certainly be back!

Yelp
Tatsu Izakaya is a decent ramen joint that will satisfy your ramen cravings but it is not life changing. We dropped by on a Sunday for late lunch around 2pm and there were plenty of tables open. We started with the wontons in chili oil. They were ok, decent sized and had a nice bite to them. They chili oil was flavorful without being too spicy. I got the Shoyu Tonkatsu ramen and my husband got the Spicy Tatsu Ramen. Both broths were creamy and the spicy one actually came with two chicken skewers. The noodles were bouncy and chewy. The spicy ramen wasn't too spicy either. I added some of the spicy broth to my non-spiced ramen for a little kick. I enjoyed my bowl of ramen but I was not wowed.

Yelp
Spicy tastu and spicy tonkatsu ramen are a must. Creamy flavorful broth with the most tender pork and the tatsu came with 2 skewers of chicken. So tasty. The egg was divine also! Noodles cooked perfectly. Not too spicy. Also the takoyaki was perfect and hit the spot. Comparable to Japan!! The Japanese yuzu pale ale was crisp (5% ABV) and refreshing. We left stuffed and with leftovers. Vibes are good - a few tvs, busy, quick service. Parking in the lot can be tight but there's also street parking. This might be our new ramen joint! So good! Can't wait to be back.

Yelp
My friend and I had the fried rice with Chashu pork, super tasty! Drinks came out quick and the service was great the whole time. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Denver. Love the food and the service. First restaurant I visit when I am in Denver. The food is plentiful and filling. The service is great.

Yelp
Absolutely great food, totally loved it! I had Tatsu ramen, which was exactly what ramen should be. What's unique and I've never seen it anywhere - they have couple of chicken skewers in the bowl. My partner had a dragon roll and also loved it. The atmosphere is great and very cozy, especially on the chilly fall night we got there. And the service is very welcoming. 100% recommend and added to my bookmarks as the place to come back.

Yelp
Came here on a snowy Friday evening because the ramen craving was unreal. Tastu did not let me down! We came around 5; it was busy but not jammed packed - that happened around 6. I was surprised how busy it was during a snowstorm and we were glad we came when we did. A large array of customers from college couples to large families, they clearly cater to all. We stuck with water so can't comment on the bevvies, but the food - yes, yum! We started with edamame, vegetable gyoza, and kimchi which were all spot on. I am a sucker for kimchi and could have eaten an entire massive bowl by myself. For our entrees, my husband had the Katsu Curry which while not the curry consistency he expected, it was very tasty. The chicken was perfect. I was craving ramen and went with Tan Tan and it hit the spot and then some. The decor was unique and interesting and service was friendly and efficient. Prices were fair and they had a decent selection of differing dishes. My only complaint was that I was unable to get my egg completely hardboiled instead of softboiled. Not a huge deal, but I'm currently pregnant and am not supposed to have eggs unless the yolk is entirely cooked. That aside, a wonderful spot and will absolutely come back!

Yelp
We've been trying out spots in our new part of the city, and this one was a hit! They have a mix of ramen/noddle dishes & sushi. We all were feeling cozy, so opted for ramen & some appetizers. I tried the veggie ramen, and it was SO good. Savory broth that had enough flavor, but wasn't too salty, had a good amount of well-cooked noodles, and lots of yummy toppings. Others in our party got the chicken shoyu, duck ramen, and another veggie. Everyone finished their whole bowl! We also got our daughter some of the veggie dumplings, which she enjoyed, but she also loved picking at our noodles as well. Fun & flavor for the whole fam! We took our food to go due to our toddler, but would love to eat in-house at some point too. Will be back!

Yelp
Tatsu Izakaya is a must if you're in Denver! I've tried a bit of everything: the spicy tatsu ramen (just the right kick), gyudon, unagi don, tiger roll, tokidoki roll, and the katsu curry--all winners in my book! They have so many options on their menu I'm always so indecisive with what to order. The portions are so generous too, I'm leaving with a second meal every time. The college-town vibe keeps it laid-back, and even when it's busy (which is always), it's worth the wait. Just be prepared to roll out of there stuffed and happy!
google avatar

Meya B.

Yelp
This place was pretty busy when we went but luckily just before the dinner rush! From what I noticed even through the dinner they were pretty quick and efficient on getting the walk ins seated! The shoyu "ramen" was really good but I actually substituted the noodles for udon noodles. Really great taste and I got it spicy! Definitely the best ramen I've had in Colorado so far so that's amazing! The place is also nice but pretty loud. It was just packed every seat taken so you can't really expect a quiet place. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Overall, good experience for my first time at Tatsu. There is another sushi restaurant down the street that still has my heart, but Tatsu is a close second. The service was great. The place overlooks a parking lot in a strip mall, so it might not be the most appealing ambiance, but the food makes up for it. A little pricey, but definitely good. The Tatsu roll was delicious, and I highly recommend the spicy chili wontons (they aren't too spicy, despite our server warning us.) Overall, 8/10 experience. If it was slightly cheaper and had a little bit more of a vibe to the place, I'd be shouting "TATSU" from the rooftops.

Yelp
Time for an update! Cold, snowy weather has Ramen on my mind and this is THE place! We've been here multiple times over the past couple of years and each time has been soooooo satisfying! Flavors of the Ramen (tonkatsu, spicy tonkatsu, should tonkatsu, shoyu) are all on point! Service is pleasant, keeping water glasses full and clearing plates as they empty. I finally got around to trying their nigiri on our last visit and it was fantastic as well - nice thick and tender slices of hamachi on just enough rice. Mmmm...

Yelp
Why a 4 star? Truly i would bump this to a 4.5 Overall, great spot off university blvd in a plaza. Service was prompt and great. The ambience is casual and small but great solo or for groups. I got a crispy California roll, a spicy salmon and the tonkatsu Ramen. Overall, the sushi was solid and the crunchy California is the way to go. The Ramen was really good. The brother had pretty good flavor but the additions were chefs kiss. The pork was tender and you could bite through like butter. The bowl was big and plenty for me. I do recommend this place and would come back.

Yelp
This review is for the spicy Tatsu ramen. Pros - Broth bursting with delicious flavors. Great smoky/charcoal flavor. Wasn't salty - Good portion size - Ingredients are of good quality and the pork has the perfect ratio of meat to fat - Attentive service, checked in on our meal multiple times Cons I highly recommend this place for ramen lovers.
google avatar

Diana W.

Yelp
This place is near the university so it was pretty packed on a random Sunday. Extensive menu and a ton of tvs if your significant other is into sports. They even have some anime books if your kids get bored. Now the food. Basic Japanese flavors, rolls, ramen. nothing special but nothing bad about it. Will make you happy if you are craving ramen on a cold day.

Yelp
I'm so glad Yelp helped me find this place. I've been to this part of town but never noticed this restaurant was here as there were so many other restaurants nearby. The dishes were so unique, like their signature ramen with a chicken skewer in it. The sushi was awesome too and I loved that they used a sushi boat to serve it in. Service was great and the restaurant was super cute inside. Parking could be a little tight as the parking lot was small. But we found a space.
google avatar

Yelp
-Pork and Chicken Gyoza (7/10 standard, wish it had a crispy skirt like some of the reviews, won't get again) -Spicy crab salad (9/10 really good, will order with cucumbers next time) -Agedashi tofu (8.5/10 a little salty, would get again though) -Spicy Tatsu Ramen (8/10 broth and noodles were amazing, meat was a little dry) -Tatsu Roll (9/10 great balance of crispiness from the shrimp tempura, creaminess from the avocado, and great flavor from the crab and tuna. Did not taste the masago or cucumber) Overall, great atmosphere and great people! Our food came very quickly!

Yelp
I was craving sushi and decided to stop in, and I'm so glad I did. The fish was fresh and melted in my mouth. The roll that my friend got was delicious. I wish I remembered the name. We shared some Gyozas and edamame to start. Let me say those were the best gyozas I've ever had! They were steamed but then pan-fried on one side, so they had a nice crunch. I would go back just for those again. The restaurant is inside a tiny corner strip; don't let that fool you. This was some of the better sushi I've had in a long time. The service was quick and friendly. I will be back.
google avatar

Erin W.

Yelp
Extremely fast service, spicy pork ramen and sushi were delicious and everything we wanted on a cold winter day. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Kasia W.

Yelp
The ramen was wonderful. The sashimi was thickly sliced and very fresh. The gyoza were perfectly crispy. The service was amazing, a wonderful place for a relaxing date night

Yelp
My partner and I have been frequenting Tatsu Izakaya for nearly two years now, and it never disappoints. The tatsu ramen and tatsu roll are generally our go-to menu items. We generally do takeout from here, but the few times we've dined in have been satisfying experiences. I tried the Gyudon the other night because I was really craving a Yoshinoya-style beef bowl, and while it wasn't quite that, it was delicious in its own right with flavorful beef, onions, and rice. I'd come back just to eat the Gyudon again. The spicy edamame is flavorful and will have you needing napkins--the seasoning is saucy and tasty. My partner tried one of their Japanese craft beers which they thoroughly enjoyed: a malty amber and savory aftertaste. There is a small parking lot that can get full very quickly on the weekends since this is located near the University. For that reason, the noise volume can vary, but not more than any other izakaya/bar. Service has always been consistently good and fast. I'll continue coming here for when I'm craving izakaya-style food.

Cameron T.

Yelp
Always great. Pork buns, sushi and amazing Ramen. Amazing quality and value. Can be busy at times, but worth the wait.

Yelp
Recommended by a friend, I decided to check out Tatsu for some lunch while in Denver for a conference. The Takoyaki was absolutely delicious, the best I've had in a long, long time. I think they actually make it in house (not frozen) because it was fresh and tasty! The ramen was pretty good too but nothing to write home about. I'd come here again just for the takoyaki honestly. The vibe in here is really casual with tvs playing sports games and a chill atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
We love this as a sushi restaurant and willing to make a special trip. First one to arrive for lunch at 11am on a Monday. The last time we were here for lunch only a handful of customers as well. I am willing to bet it gets packed for dinner. Ordered the nigiri and sashimi combo and was not disappointed. It comes with a miso soup and your choice of either spicy tuna or California roll.
google avatar

Rachael M.

Yelp
We love this place! They are one of the few Ramen places that have Tantan Ramen and it is very good! Every time we have a cold, this is our cure all.
google avatar

JoJo N.

Yelp
We were craving Asian food, and this spot did not disappoint! The location appears unassuming from the outside, but upon entry we were surprised to see how busy it was. We got Takoyaki to start, which was incredible. My boyfriend got ramen while I ordered sushi. We were really impressed by the quality and devoured our food without anything leftover. I'm glad to have found this place and will be back soon!
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
The spicy poke bowl was good the tuna was fresh it was definitely spicy. The miso soup was the best i have ever had.The server kept checking on us he was a nice young man.The tea was the worst I have ever had not brewed not enough but I'm a Texan so we love over tea. The atmosphere was ok it was in a hidden location but over all it was good.
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
This is our favorite ramen spot! We exclusively eat ramen here now due to the sushi options and delicious ramen. Our toddler has an egg allergy so while we enjoy warm ramen, he can enjoy the jalapeño hamachi! Husband still orders the spicy tonkotsu but I have switched mine to the spicy tatsu and it is my new favorite. We also tried the kimchi recently and it is fantastic! Definitely going to be a new item we order each time. Service is always great and food is always perfection.
google avatar

Yelp
EHR MEHR GERSHH!! Well done! This is the best ramen I've had in Colorado to date!! Spicy tonkatsu with extra chicken was freaking AMAZING!! We shared the hamachi jalapeño appetizer and takoyaki which were really delicious along with a pot of piping hot, loose leaf roasted green tea!! It was really authentic Japanese style and flavors. I'm totally sold on this place and will highly recommend to everyone looking for awesome ramen.
google avatar

Yelp
My absolute go to spot for ramen in Denver! I've done take out and Uber eats here many times before and it's always been amazing! Cannot recommend the Tatsu Ramen enough - it's a must try for fans of tonkotsu!
google avatar

Millie S.

Yelp
I had the spicy tonkotsu and it was honestly some of the best ramen I've ever had. Perfect amount of spice and the chashu was delish. We called ahead for a party of nine with a wheelchair and when we arrived a few minutes later they had our table waiting complete with an accessible table which was very much appreciated. Restrooms are clean and dining area is nicely decorated. 18 thumbs up!
google avatar

Zay W.

Yelp
Bomb-diggity!! This is our ramen date spot, hands down every time. Tonkotsu ramen, Spicy edamame, and sushi dinner are my go to's, but we've tried many other items and they have all been fantastic!! Some times the place is crowded, but it is well worth it! If you're an anime fan, the decor is right up your alley!

Karla G.

Yelp
My favorite ramen place! It always hits the spot. The ramen is full of flavor and I love their rolls ! service is quick and food comes out fast.

Yelp
My toddler and I came here for a lunch date on a rainy day. I found the place on Yelp and it boasted yummy ramen reviews. Immediately when walking through the door I felt invited with my son. The staff was unbelievably accommodating and so nice to us. There were a ton of tables and seating but you could tell it was also a college area because they had all manner of tvs with various sports games playing. We ordered ramen and veggie fried potstickers. While I didn't care for the potstickers, my son devoured them like they were the best thing on earth. We shared the tonkatsu Ramen which was tasty and filling. I don't remember the overall cost but it was average and worth the price. They did not have a changing table in the bathroom. There were 2 of them so maybe it was in the other but the bathrooms were clean. The only negative was the parking. The lot is small and so are the spaces. Someone ended up parking so close to me that I couldn't get my son in the car so I had to climb over my seats in the rain to get my son in his car seat. Overall though I'd recommend the place and we'll be back!
google avatar

Jordan G.

Yelp
We happened to stumble across this place on accident and were pleasantly surprised. I loved the decor it's very Japanese sports bar vibes and just made you feel like you were in Japan. The restaurant is very busy there was a constant wait but despite the wait we were seated quick. They had a lot of menu options and they all looked delicious! I went with the Spicy Tatsu and it had great flavor, I was bummed it wasn't actually spicy but I'd eat it again. We also ordered the pork buns and those were yummy! This place is a must try, we are excited to come back and try more!
google avatar

Venie N.

Yelp
My friends and I had reservations for Sunday night at 8pm. As soon as we arrived we were sat down immediately at our table. Our waitress was very friendly and helped us make decisions and had recommendations about the food. She provided great service! My friend and I ordered the vegetable ramen and we loved it! I wasn't that hungry but I still ate the entire bowl. The portion was really big and all the vegetables and tofu tasted great! I even asked for some spicy paste on the side to add some spice to my ramen since it doesn't come spicy. The parking lot there isn't the biggest and there are other shops in the plaza so be mindful of parking when getting there. There was a Starbucks next to it but it had a sign saying you will get towed if you park there and aren't a customer of Starbucks.
google avatar

Jessica Fay B.

Yelp
Right when we walked in everybody was so nice! And it looked so cute. The waiter was so nice and friendly the food was amazing. I would recommend the Spicy Tatsu. The decorations are so cool I could see some Pokémon plushies staring at me and anime figures everywhere, the drinks were amazing too! I would recommend this place to everyone, especially anime lovers! This place is amazing!
google avatar

Deborah M.

Yelp
The hubs is in Japan and he said one of his favor was pork Katsu so we decide to come here because I saw a good pic! The ambiance in this place is lovely and service was quick and attentive. The food was delicious as well although I have nothing to compare to! The table next to us had the ramen and it smelled divine- we will be back to try that!!
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
Got some ramen to-go here recently and it was so good! Glad to know there's a neighborhood spot with amazing grub that thoughtfully puts their food together. I will certainly be back!
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Quick service Loyal customers all around Food was delicious - sushi and ramen Prices are equivalent to other ramen/sushi joints in town
google avatar

Tony M.

Yelp
We started off the gyoza which were pan fried to perfection and delicious. Big sake and green tea. Ordered the spicy tonkatsu. Pork was so soft and tasty. Ramen broth was perfect. Service was prompt. Great vibes all around Definitely will be back.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this place. Flavors are amazing, large portion sizes, kind service.

Yelp
Went to Tastu Izakaya last night and was pleasantly surprised! I haven't heard of it before but have driven by many times. We got the Takoyaki, Katsu Don, and a couple sushi rolls. Service was quick and everything was delicious! The takoyaki was perfectly cooked with the outside having a great structure and the inside being warm and lightly gooey. The sushi rolls were tasty and offered a good variety. The standout for me was the Pork Katsu Don. I originally was going to go with another dish but a nearby table ordered it and it smelled phenomenal! Once it came to the table I knew I made the right decision. The cutlet was breaded well, the eggs perfectly scrambled, and the sauce distributed well throughout. I could not get through the dish faster. It was incredible. Great job Tastu Izakaya. I WILL return soon!
google avatar

Vivian C.

Yelp
Came here twice and have had great experiences so far! It's also fun to look around at all the different anime decorations. My fiancé loves One Piece so he is amazed at the wall full of One Piece wanted posters lol. They even have a Luffy Roll! The food is pretty good. Good ramen. Tasty katsu. Will always have more than enough to take home for leftovers. I think their appetizers is what makes them shine the brightest. Takoyaki is really crispy and fresh, yakitori has so much flavor with great texture, gyoza was as crispy as the takoyaki - YUM!
google avatar

Kiana K.

Yelp
Came here on a random chilly weekday. Decor is kinda like a Japanese bar. Vibes chill and inviting. Food exceptionally yummy!! I ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen and rose milk tea. The server was very thoughtful and brought out a pink straw for my milk tea cuz it matched my hot pink top. Friends ordered ramen and D U Bomb which was phenomenal!!! One of the most delicious things I've ever tasted!! They give generous portions so I recommend wear sweats to accommodate the belly expanding if you don't want to take anything home.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
We got the Bloody Hamachi, yellowtail negi roll, Toki, Doki, and salmon avocado roll, and fried chicken. Service was timely and the food was fresh, a lot of windows to let in natural light. I would come back here!

K T.

Yelp
This place is amazing! 10/10. We had dinner here and were seated right away. They were quick and friendly. Their pork & chicken gyozas were so good. Spicy edamame!! The ramen (we got spicy miso) was delicious!! We love spice and this place kicked it out of the park with it
