Having been a Tatsu customer since it first opened its Melrose location, this spot Downtown brings me back to those early days when rich flavorful broth was still hard to come by in LA. If it was your first time eating there, you knew you'd be finishing the entire bowl.
My go-to Red Ramen had some of the thickest and most perfectly seasoned broth I think I've eaten at Tatsu. My wife's Hippie Ramen was almost like a French onion soup in the best way, but not nearly as heavy. We also got a side of chicken rice - big eyes I know, but we had to finish it.
I love that the size of this location is pretty well accommodating - it's definitely bigger than any other location and the kitchen layout seems much more suitable for busier rushes.
Tatsu is still my favorite ramen outside of Japan, and this location in DTLA takes the top spot of Tatsu shops.
