Yelp
The pistachio croissant I got was excellent, the espresso was good, the place is very Euro white, bright, big windows, comfortable spacing. Many aspects could have been better. There was a long line, and no reason for it. It wasn't that busy, and there were many workers. Many workers visibly not doing anything, or doing whatever they were doing very slowly. The place looked like a slow motion replay ("the play is under further review" "Well let's take a look at from the sideline camera again,"). The counter where we order is separate from where we pick up the espresso, which might seem obvious to a regular, but I was confused. The cashier did not indicate where I should wait for the coffee but eventually I figure it out on my own by watching others. The cashier didn't know what Boston Whoopie Pie, Boston Cream Pie, or Boston style coffee were. O for 3. The cashier takes the order, then she has two runners to get the pastries, and they for sure weren't "running." They ambled slowly while EATING. Both of them. Both of them were eating by hand while working, while getting pastries for customers. I have a very hard time connecting the many effusively positive reviews with this place, I can't fathom it. No hand washing, no hair nets, no masking, no common sanitary food service practices that I could see. And I had plenty time to see. I was charged for a double espresso and I got a single shot. The whole order was put into disposable packaging even though I was going to sit down to drink and eat. It's positively uncivilized to walk while sipping espresso and eating croissant, and it's just so irresponsible to avoid ceramic in favor of adding to the global garbage problem. By the way, the young Dunkin Donuts worker who just immigrated here two years ago from a tea drinking culture already knew how to serve up a cup of coffee Boston style.
