"A far cry from the city-like atmosphere of South Norwalk, Tavern at GrayBarns is located a few miles north within a fancy riverside hotel in a quiet, woodsy corner of town. If a $900-per-night staycation at the inn isn’t in the cards, book a table at the Tavern and request a bar or patio seat with the view of the charming gardens and the pond on the property—it’s the perfect setting for a romantic date or quiet catch up with friends. We always order the crispy fried oyster mushrooms with buttermilk dipping sauce, which are basically a grown up version of chicken nuggets, and the perfectly cooked dry aged ribeye. Pair them with one of the well-curated wines by the glass and enjoy your mini vacation. photo credit: Sam Schwab photo credit: Sam Schwab photo credit: Sam Schwab photo credit: Sam Schwab" - Chloe Zale

Came here for Valentine’s Day dinner and we enjoyed our time immensely. The atmosphere was warm and romantic and homey (but if this were Martha Stewart’s home), and the food was delicious. Our server was attentive and kept us laughing the entire evening. Highly recommend for a date night spot or as a restaurant to bring anyone you want to impress.

Google
Overall one of the best dining experiences ever! Kudos to the staff for making dining a desirable outing! The Brussels Sprouts and the Fried Oyster Mushroom are cooked and seasoned to perfection. The authentic Duck with Sautéed Spinach, 5 Stars! The ambiance and decor, 10 out of 10!

Wow, what a great dinner. Thank you to the staff and the chef. Phenomenal! What a gorgeous place. Roast oysters with escargot butter :) update: I just went for the third time. This place never disappoints!

Tonight was our first time dining at the Tavern. Our server Kyle was knowledgeable about the menu, was able to answer questions and make good recommendations. It really sets the tone for the meal having someone who is personable and tentative. The food was spectacular. Overall a wonderful evening, we will definitely be returning and recommending this place to others.

Google
It's a great ambiance. It was a last minute reservation so I sat at the bar where the service was engaging. I got some cheerful input from Victoria on recommendations for food with drinks pairing. The food is upscale, pricey, and very well presented. Parsnip soup needed a little something extra, perhaps black pepper, but the Beets and Tagliolini dishes were great. A great place for a not-so-casual stop in.

Google
Service was good - atmosphere beautiful - food poor and expensive. We were served a flavorless gray tuna tartare - a limp piece of fat that was supposed to be bacon, and a swordfish sandwich with amorphous, thick orange sauce. The bartender had a 12 inch beard that was bushy and not hygienic .

Google
Everything we had was outstanding. Beautiful restaurant, great wine and liquor selection and delicious food. Fried buratta was a novel take on how to serve but absolutely delicious. Tartare was also a little different as it was served on a potato rosti which added a nice counter to the rich tartare. Strozzapreti was good, nothing too memorable but a solid dish. When we asked the server which item she would pick she chose the burger, odd choice with such a varied menu but she was right. Burger was delicious but fries were the star, perfectly crispy. I am not a big dessert person but I think the butterscotch budino was one of the best desserts I have ever had. Creamy layers of butterscotch pudding, cream and crispy, buttery shortbread on top. Served in a small mason jar so a little difficult to get all items in one bite but worth the effort. Highly recommend if you want delicious high quality food in a quaint New England atmosphere.

Ratatouille comes to Norwalk. There are few restaurants that get a 4 star review that feature a mouse, a missed order and undercooked fish, but this is one of them. Apart from the aforementioned this place could have been a 6 star review (I know there’s no such thing with Google) but it just wasn’t right. So let’s start at the beginning…. Great atmosphere, superb layout and a cool chill pallet of colors. The waiter was super attentive, engaging and a really nice guy. The pre dinner drinks were fab, especially the spicy margarita, and it was spicy. Appetizers were delicious, tuna Tartar, shrimp cocktail and the spicy rigatoni. Yum. Then things got interesting….from the corner of my eye I see something moving out in the patio dining area…yup a juicy mouse. Now I get it, it’s a farmhouse atmosphere, but if I were the owners I would invest in a couple of feral cats. Speaking from experience that are superb deterrents, and nicer to look at than a mouse. Then came the missed order, 3 short ribs and one scallops, one of the short ribs was supposed to be Arctic Char. The waiter immediately spotted the issue and ordered the Char, and kindly left the extra short rib for us to nibble on. However, and I blame the kitchen on this, the Char came out quickly with a nice crusty exterior, but it was undercooked. They tried to fix the problem, but did it too hastily. So desert was a shared cheesecake, which was fab, and the we left. I actually think I’ll be back, regardless of the issues. It’s a cool spot, with really great staff and a great vibe.

Yelp
As always it was the best fall treat to dine on the patio at Tavern - the service is always above and beyond, the dishes just the perfect temp and taste and combos, and overall you just feel "special" being here! Tucked away in the magical Silvermine area of Norwalk - It feels like you're states away when I'm only 10 minutes from home. The scallops were so perfectly cooked and the polenta the perfect accompaniment. Duck is always on point here as are the crack-like mushrooms haha Desserts weren't needed but the descriptions just didn't allow us to pass up on the opportunity to waddle out of here - elegantly of course. Until next time ...

Yelp
This was one of our favorite meals this year. A beautiful interior but an even better menu. They had a mix of small plates and entrees but we dabbled in both. Their spicy rigatoni was very flavorful and honestly, I could've eaten another plate but every single dish was well made with fresh ingredients. We will definitely be back! Service was thoughtful and they did not rush us out the door. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Dillon T.

Yelp
Dinner here was such a treat. We ate outside with a view of the water feature and gardens. I recommend this if the weather is good. The burrata starter was great, and the Caesar had real anchovies which was a plus for me. My ribeye was ordered rare and cooked perfectly. A great local date spot, reservation needed.

Caroline D.

Yelp
Wowowow - we stayed at the inn next door for a couple of nights and were lucky enough to have a couple of meals here. The vibes are immaculate and everyone on staff is very helpful and kind. Everything is truly spectacular, but here are a couple of my faves: Spicy rigatoni - this is a need, not a want. It's the best spicy rig that I've ever had, and actually has a decent bit of heat ~cough, Carbone~ Steak tartare - this is really delicious and quite filling too Gazpacho - this was super savory and yummy - we couldn't believe that it didn't have cream! Tomato burrata salad - super fresh and seasonal! Prince Edward Island oysters - very very tasty and fresh The cocktail menu and wine list is also great! You will not regret stopping by :)

Daniella M.

Yelp
Outstanding! A 10/10 experience from the ambiance, to the staff, and most importantly the food. The ambiance inside and the outdoor patio is beautiful and homey. The staff were courteous and very helpful explaining some things on the menu we were unsure about. The food was the star of the show. Went with a group of friends and we tried a variety of plates to share. There was not a dish we had any complaints about! I am obsessed with the fried oyster mushrooms so so good! We also loved the Cacio E Pepe and the duck!!! But truly everything was great. My friends raved about the beets. Would definitely recommend and be coming back! Oh and if you were thinking about skipping dessert, don't. The flourless chocolate cake is delicious ( I added a scoop of ice cream)!

Susan K.

Yelp
Overpriced, horrible food long wait do not recommend.... This place is full of pompous, hostess and servers who think they are too good to be waiting on you. If you ask them for a glass of water, it seems like it's a huge effort.

Linda C.

Yelp
My husband and I have had many wonderful dinners at the Tavern at GrayBarns. It's a gem - amazing food in a lovely setting. Recently I had my daughters Bridal Shower there and it couldn't have been more perfect. Olivia, the event's manager was wonderful ! She assisted me in all aspects of the event - from decor, menu selection and more. I received so many compliments from guests on how wonderful the day was. From the service, to the food, to the ambience, it truly was a beautiful event - highly recommended !

Michele T.

Yelp
I went out for a special birthday lunch here with a girlfriend. It was a bluebird day and perfect for Al fresco dining. First off- I absolutely LOVED the decor and ambiance of the place. It was rustic, yet modern - simple and elegant. Beautiful. The menu is small, which is fine, especially since a lot of it seemed to be farm to table items, but there wasn't anything on it that I was particularly excited about. So I ordered a salad off the "small plate" menu and my friend ordered a raw tuna dish from the same menu. When the waitress took our order she informed us that "small plate" meant appetizer and asked what we wanted for our entree. Well I didn't really want anything off of it and it was pricey, so we stuck with what we had ordered. My "butter lettuce" salad was quite good. And my friend's very small portion of tuna was good too. The staff was attentive and their politeness seemed a bit forced- but maybe we were just not a high dollar table and they were annoyed. I don't know. My friend had notified them when she made the reservation that it was a birthday lunch and when they brought out our dessert there was candle in my friend's ice cream. Unfortunately, it was my birthday, not hers. They didn't ask-and she got a semi polite "happy birthday" from our waitress. So I'm giving it 3 stars because although it was beautiful and the food was fresh, it wasn't my cup of tea. It was a bit too stuffy for me and it was expensive. Go there for company lunch or dinner and let your boss pick up the tab- it's perfect for that!

Hasan K.

Yelp
Four of us went for dinner for the first time on the recommendation of friends. It was well worth the expense. Each of us started with different cocktails (something that I never do) which were tasty, and the went onto wines during the meal. The appetizers of roasted oysters and large shrimp were excellent. The main courses of the duck frites for two, the swordfish and the beet salad - all very tasty and enjoyable. Feeling satiated, we shared one dessert; the chocolate mousse. I give the place five stars, a very rare score for me. Our waiter was personable and knowledgeable and attentive - one could not ask for more. We were amongst the last diners in the place but were never rushed. If we are back in the area again we would dine here again, and recommend the restaurant to friends.

Monica M.

Yelp
The food and server were fantastic, however the management and vallet service are terrible. This establishment requires use of a vallet service for parking. After my mom arrived home from lunch, she realized our house key was missing and the key chain had been bent- clearly it was tampered with. After going through the hassle of changing our locks for safety purposes and then calling the establishment to report this, the owner blamed my mom, said it was her fault the key went missing, and told her never to come back to the restaurant. Shockingly horrible customer service- he guaranteed that we will indeed never be back and will encourage our friends not to as well!

Paul C.

Yelp
Stop rushing your customers. We are not looking for fast food in an expensive restaurant. The food was very good (except for the thin swordfish steak); let your customers enjoy it. Don't take away the plate of one customer while the other is still eating. Don't put down silverware for the next course while the customer is still eating the previous course. It ruins the ambiance, makes customers feel like there's some stop watch running on their meal. The service standards need to be as high as the prices.

Justin W.

Yelp
Great food and service. Setting is amazing. 5 stars The bar staff is extraordinary. Anything you are looking for is possible.

Bill C.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance - 3rd time having dinner there. Tuna Tartare was ok; menu is limited and odd. Nothing excited me so I ordered the chicken breast which was thick, tough and very bland on a base of pea puree with cream. Service was good. Overall ...underwhelmed for the price. Don't bother calling for any special requests. They never pick up and inform you via vm that any requests by phone are not confirmed.

Yelp
Upscale eatery inside (or just outside) of a beautiful building that overlooks a river The building began as a textile mill in the early 1800s, became a speakeasy in the 1920's, and then transformed into an inn and restaurant after that Reservations are highly recommended, but I was lucky that I came for a late lunch and they had a seat at the bar that was available The menu is comprised of a bunch of different American classic entrees, as well as a bunch of creative cocktail creations (alliteration for the win) I got a pasta dish and it was very tasty. I also got a coffee old fashion and it was very strong (the bartender was awesome). The food came out very quickly The downsides are that all of the parking is valet and the food is pretty pricey 9.5

Clarisa Y.

Yelp
We love this place. A great place for a special night out. The food is always great and the menu changes with the seasons. The atmosphere is upscale but still inviting because of the servers. The servers have always been down to earth and provide great recommendations. Recently we went for a birthday dinner and some standout dishes were the fried oyster mushrooms- they were like a sour cream and onion flavored calamari. So good. We also got the smoked carrots-much spicier than expected and the burrata. Entrees are always good-can't go wrong with duck and the branzino. For dessert, the chocolate budino was not too sweet or heavy-great ending to dinner.

D D.

Yelp
Good food, drinks, and decor. Unpleasant hostesses and manager. Would like to return but was not an enviable experience.

Sybil S.

Yelp
Rewarding country inn dining. Food is really unusual and delicious. For sure experimental. Great design which feels cozy and exciting at the same time. Worth the effort

David F.

Yelp
Saturday lunch...excellent attentive service, well-prepared food, lovely rooms and locations. We started with a simple romaine salad, then two small plates-- waygu tarare, a special menu lightly fried mushroom dish with dipping sauces-- followed by a very good cacio e pepe entre. Add a few drinks and the tab came to $185+tip. That's a lot for a suburban lunch but really, this place has so much going for it.

Re T.

Yelp
This restaurant is oh so cute ! Great decor. Husband and I did a lunch date at this restaurant. Our waiter was so nice ! He made some suggestions and checked in on us a couple of times . The food was good (not great ), however, I will definitely revisit this place in the summer when you can enjoy the outdoors .

David K.

Yelp
Outstanding all around. We visited for our anniversary on the recommendation of a local friend and were not disappointed. My wife and I shared the hamachi crudo and gazpacho while she enjoyed the "Garden Party" cocktail. All were excellent. The gazpacho flavors were like nothing I had ever tried before and the broth for the hamachi was so fresh and delightful ... a perfect complement to the fish. For our mains, she had the branzino, with crispy skin and beautiful flavors. I had the duck breast which we also wonderful. The sweet peach was a nice touch. I paired my duck with a French Bordeaux that the server recommended. We finished off with some chocolate and a glass of port. We left totally satisfied. At about $235 with gratuity, Tavern at GrayBarns is not cheap in any sense. But it's a five star meal without the hassle of going to Manhattan and, I'd say, worth it for that special occasion.

Ben D.

Yelp
Bar area is a great room for cocktails and small bites. And the excellent service makes for an enjoyable experience here.

Daria K.

Yelp
We've been coming back here pretty often now. We have our favorite drinks and selections of appetizers/main courses. But I want to share my opinion on three specific drinks that should be ALWAYS on the menu, especially now during the fall - Beet me to It! Watermelon Patch (BUT done the clean way, the way it was the very first week, please DO NOT change it to a pink watermelon gin drink - The Clean way is waaaay better!!! And third drink is Trace of Peaches! We will be coming back for more!

Ken P.

Yelp
A terrific place for a special occasion. Took my wife there over the weekend to celebrate a milestone birthday. Great menu. I had the Caesar as a "Small Plate" - a very subtle seasoning with nice size anchovies mixed in. My wife started with pea soup, which she loved (and she has had quite a few pea soups in the past. For main courses we went with a chicken dish and Atlantic Char, both of which were great. And we shared a Fried Oyster Mushroom dish which was very different and delicious!

Stephen M.

Yelp
The food was excellent but the menu was confusing in the way they describe appetizers, entrees, and sides. Once it was explained, the food was excellent and the wine list extensive. The service was impeccable and attentive without being intrusive. The ambience is nice and the restaurants isolated in the old Silvermine Tavern. Pretty river views if you are lucky enough to get a table there.

Juan C.

Yelp
Great ambience and location. Our server Cesar V. made great recommendations. They have a very nice drink menu, and a nice selection of wines. We had the coffee old fashion and the lonely hearts both very good. We had several small plates the best were the roasted oysters and prime beef tartare. For dessert we shared the butterscotch Budinot which was very good, my wife had the espresso martini which was delicious. I recommend you ask for a table next to a window, But the bar looked very nice and the service was second to none. Parking is very limited they only seemed to offer valet reservations recommended bon appétit.

Anne A.

Yelp
Incredible location, food, waitstaff. Just had our second Thanksgiving at Tavern at GrayBarns and it was even better than last year. A unique space with fresh authentic delicious offerings.

Cat T.

Yelp
We had an absolutely lovely time here! We all started with cocktails, and I think the Saluki Fizz was the winner of the day. Super refreshing and complex with that fun, party-drink feel. Then we had a few small plates--the fried burrata only came with one piece of toast for the four of us but otherwise was solid, the duck confit was made perfectly, but the Tuna crudo was the star. The fish was so tender and delicious, I would recommend that the highest. For my main course I had the lobster. I was a bit disappointed by this. While it was prepared well, the lobster itself was quite small and I was still hungry after I ate it. The lobster also didn't taste like the sauce the was under the shell (that sauce was an Asian-inspired sauce--delicious! Really wish it was on the actual lobster). The way the lobster was presented also made it rather difficult to eat. Others at my table had a beautiful steak and two delicious pasta dishes I wish I would've ordered instead. Definitely skip the lobster. The dessert was the BEST I've had in a long time. The butterscotch pudding was smooth and delicate, with a shortbread crumble that was divine. Overall I had a great experience with Tavern and I'd love to come back!

Yelp
WOW, I have to say I have not tried this place based on so-so Yelp reviews but after more than one person said I had to try it, I finally did for lunch today..... and it was a TOTAL WOW. I also realized I have not been putting any photos up of food and this place screams- take a photo.... as the presentation of dishes/drinks is exceptional! First and foremost, the tavern is beautifully decorated.... truly one of a kind in the area. The seating layout is very comfortable and yet stylish. You literally will want to take the light fixtures and furniture home with you. There is a huge fireplace that is so pretty, very cool "new" farm kind of bar, and the outside view of the Silvermine area is gorgeous and just relaxing to look at. The waitstaff was very accommodating and professional. They really allow you to dine (and relax) at whatever speed you would like! We had a wonderful cocktail called a Cin City..... bourbon, pineapple juice and cinnamon with probably a few other ingredients I am forgetting- very balanced flavors and way too easy to take down. We opted for smaller plates to share, my favorite way to dine- wagu beef tartare which came with the most interesting bread flats and paired with whipped ricotta that all melted in our mouths literally. The rockfish tartare was like nothing I have ever had before- I will never give it justice to state the ingredients but it was so fresh, had grapefruit, red pepper purée and much more. Hands down must try if you are a raw fish/tartare fan.... no way you will be disappointed. The eggplant and burrata was also amazing..... again so interesting how they handled the ingredients and made it something you can not duplicate. We ended with dessert (chocolate mouse with brownie crumble and salted caramel bottom- sorry no photo of that, forgot and just dug in) and espresso which was equally delicious and would totally get again. Overall- so so happy I finally got to experience Gray Barns and I say experience on purpose because it was just that....such a wonderful dining experience! I will definitely be back, maybe for dinner and perhaps might uber next time and enjoy more than one Cin City!

Claire K.

Yelp
We always have such a lovely experience when we come here for Sunday brunch. The French toast with bread butter filling is to die for. I believe it's on their special menu. Don't second guess whether you should get it, just get it!!

George M.

Yelp
Made lunch reservations for our anniversary. Beautiful view and ambience. Besides that. Ehhhh. Waiter made strong recommendations. First was the pear gin drink. He raved about it. Only one to order hands down. We both had it. We both thought it was average. Wife ordered another drink and he raved about the watermelon drink even more. Ok. I thought the pear was so great? She liked the watermelon drink. Ordered the octopus. Oyster mushrooms (even though I kept telling him I wanted oysters he somehow told my wife these were better and maybe since they have the word oyster in it I would want it??). My fault for ordering it. Had the burrata and tomatoes (tomatoes were soggy. Maybe a day old) Main courses. Branzini and eggplant he raved about. Everything was full of oil oil oil. Octopus was one piece and it was seared and then dried and on a bed of oil soaked whatever. Bad. Mushroom was fried. It was ok. Not my thing Branzini was fried and on a bed of oil soaked whatever it was. So much oil. Eggplant was drenched in oil and cheese. Ugg View was great. Food was nasty. Not to mention bill was $260. Lol

Yelp
Come here, and you won't feel like you're in Norwalk anymore. The entire vibe of this place inside and out makes you feel like you are on vacation and completely relaxed. They have fabulous valet parking right in front, which is key since the lot is small. From there, you enter this beautiful restaurant that is perfectly decorated and honestly stunning. With Covid, make sure to make reservations, especially if you want to sit outside. It's always busy here! Our server was excellent and knew everything about the menu and answered every question. He also had great recommendations (thank you for suggesting the fries with the tartare). Their burrata was the very best I have ever had. I wanted to order a second one to eat as my meal. However, my meal was equally as good. I ordered the spicy rigatoni, and it was out-of-this-world. It's almost like a spicy vodka sauce, and it delicious! It's a meal I would drive an hour to get. This is the perfect place for a fancy date night and a fancy girl day! Bravo!

Antonio S.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. Everything on the menu looks good. We had the octopus app, this is delicious. As well as oysters. I had the branzino filet, this dish is absolutely amazing. Fish is super fresh and so flavorful. The sides are perfect. Wife had the paccheri pomodoro, so good. Finished off with a white chocolate cheesecake.... Yummy! The food was outstanding. The ambiance is welcoming and comfortable. What takes this place to a whole new level though is the service. The staff is amazing! This place is great, highly recommended it.

Christina M.

Yelp
Oh Tavern at GrayBarns has my heart!! What a lovely and beautiful place with a modern, upscale tavern vibe. Valet parking only, we dropped off the car and entered. Upon walking in the decor was stunning and breathtaking. Beautiful sitting areas, windows with the sun gleaming in, wood accents, and woven chandeliers. We sat at a lovely corner table close to the wood burning fireplace. Our server was so helpful in offering cocktail and menu selections. We chose some drinks and enjoyed them very much. Excellent preparation and mixology. The appetizer we had was perfect! We wanted to order another one and have it all over again. It was tuna tartare and the flavors were so bright and delicious. Our entrees were so well done also. I had lions mane mushroom milanese with watercress and a beautiful bright and tangy green purée with lemon. My husband had a burger which he enjoyed thoroughly. We had a fantastic budino for dessert- a spin on a s'more- this budino was excellent!! We also had an espresso martini. Everything from service, to ambiance, to every morsel and sip we had was outstanding. Our server explained the outdoor patio area and a drink they always bring back for summer. We will definitely be making a plan to return. Excellent and very beautiful place.

Scott C.

Yelp
Amazing dinner. You have to book your reservation out a bit since they're so busy, but worth it. The entire staff is friendly and safe. We had a table in the bar area and there was a plexiglass divider between us and other patrons. My wife had an amazing pasta with braised pork and I had their cheeseburger. That may sound boring but trust me, it wasn't. Garlic aioli and a slice of pickled green tomato made this an amazing burger. We had the pavlova with lemon curd and the pine-nut toffee tart for dessert. Wonderful.

Jeannie B.

Yelp
Manager was unprofessional and rude A simple question was asked at the time the bill came and Matt Bauer was dismissive...unacceptable behavior. Server was very nice as was valet attendants.

Shannon C.

Yelp
Fantastic anniversary dinner. The interior was like a warm cozy hug. The food and cocktails were elevated and absolutely amazing for a special occasion. Highly recommend the Branzino main dish and the butterscotch dessert. The pink flamingo drink was inventive and super tasty. We will be back :)

Brando B.

Yelp
We had very high expectations for the Tavern, and they were surpassed last night. Spicy margarita was tremendous. Spicy rigatoni was out of this world. The Caesar was super fresh and not overdressed. Steak tartare was not over-seasoned (too many restaurants give you a salt bomb). Crème brûlée was amazing too. Essentially every dish was nearly perfect. But the standout of the night was our waiter, CJ. From the start he made us feel very welcome and helped us choose a memorable dinner. Thanks!

James K.

Yelp
What a shame. Such a beautiful location, but the smug, entitled staff treat you like they're doing you a favor by having you there. It would be one thing if they had good food to back it up, but everything about it was underwhelming. Our waitress rushed us through our entire meal, had an impressively sour attitude, and topped it off by passive aggressively slamming a wine glass in front of my wife. Manager did nothing about the situation and had an attitude himself. Thank you Gray Barns for an absolutely miserable birthday experience! Stay away

Kai R.

Yelp
Ohhhhhhmmmmyyyyyyggggooooosssshhhhhh. New favorite restaurant. Had the rosado royale cocktail (which I'm dreaming about), shrimp and cucumber salad special, oysters, tuna, fusilloni, and strozzapreti. EVERYTHING was insanely good. I have a gluten allergy, and the staff was sure to check on everything that I ordered to ensure that it was safe. The manager also came over to confirm if we wanted one or two pastas gf in case we wanted to share, since only one of us has the allergy. Service was impeccable, setting was gorgeous, food was A+, everything was perfection. Cannot wait to come back!!!!

Sarah B.

Yelp
Complete and Total Nonsense. With a Heaping Spoon of BS . If you enjoy being treated like you are lucky to be there rather than it is their privilege to serve you, then this is your place. And check your Bill carefully before paying .

Lauren P.

Yelp
Food was amazing, steak was one of the best we've had. Server was very attentive. Loved the interior, looking forward to returning in the spring or summer. Valet is a little annoying but we got over it quickly once we were inside

Adriana S.

Yelp
I had not visited this restaurant since it was transformed from Silvermine Tavern into Tavern at Graybarns. It was quite the transformation. It is completely modernized and it looks amazing. I had lunch at their cozy patio enjoying nature. My friend and I tried the Merguez Sausage Paella and the Roasted Eggplant. Who would know that eating eggplant could be so exciting and such a unique experience. The Chocolate Budino was the perfect ending for a perfect meal. Service was excellent as well.

Emily G.

Yelp
I thought we would only go to GrayBarns for special occasions, but it's so good, I had to visit more regularly. It's fairly pricey, but worth it every penny. I've now visited three times and I've never had anything less than delicious - both food and drinks. The last time I went, I sat at the bar and had the best time. The service is always impeccable! If you're looking for a restaurant that feels special and high-end without being pretentious or too fancy, GrayBarns is the vibe.

LeeAnn M.

Yelp
Tavern at GrayBarns is at the top of our favorites list. We've enjoyed the cozy ambiance, wonderful service and delicious food since our first visit. Most recently, we had a delightful anniversary dinner of short ribs and duck with wonderful service by our waiter, Michael. Thank you so much.

Pamela J.

Yelp
My last review for the place was one of the most hotly contested reviews I've written. One guy wrote me loads and loads of upset, rambling words and sentences calling me a disgruntled housewife of Fairfield County. Now, that moniker can't be farther from the truth and he must have some vested interest in the place. My friend arrived at 4:55 to test the locked door policy but got a call so chatted on her phone in her car in the parking lot so we don't know if that's still so stringent. I arrived around 5:30 and the valet quickly swooped my car away and I walked by reception and up to the bar without issue. It was welcoming and warm. The bar soon became packed and lively while the dining area was more sparse. We were happy to dine at the bar. I enjoyed a $17 glass of Frank Chardonnay and we split the beet appetizer and cauliflower entree. Both were excellent with interesting sauces / seasonings. The bread and butter you get is excellent as well. No dessert for us as we were full. The bar got so loud we couldn't hear ourselves but maybe when windows get opened on warmer nights, it's a little less loud. We got our cars returned to us by the valet quite swiftly. I barely remember giving them my ticket actually. Wonder if that man who wrote me countless messages and words will have his panties less in a bunch now.

Yelp
Made a Friday evening reservation around 3 wks in advance for 2 at 8pm. Absolutely loved the food and wine here, but losing a star because it was extremely loud. I love a buzzy vibe but it was hard to hear my husband from across the table. We split the octopus, burrata, tuna tartare and then a cheeseburger. Perfect amount of food and fun to try different apps. Octopus was cooked so perfectly - out of this world delicious!!! Will definitely be back here.

Yelp
From the first interaction with the rude receptionist with exaggerated vocal fry and matching dismissive attitude, to the underwhelming food and service, this experience was deeply unsatisfactory. Hard pass....

Yelp
Food B- Service A Bar table A, dining room B, attic C Disappointed in beet salad and pasta. Beets were finely diced and had a smokey flavor that overwhelmed the dish. Very unusual preparation for a beet salad. Pasta was very salty and mushrooms were also finely diced and didn't add flavor or texture to the dish. For the difficulty in getting a reservation and the sub par food, And the high cost, it was very disappointing.

Yelp
So the place is really nice, like very very nice inside and done very well. Valet parking was a nice touch. Drinks are really good and food is also great. But the prices and portions are wackadoo. Like higher than New York City. The portions are so so so small. A $25 burger that doesn't include fries. $60 entrees. $30 pasta dishes that are smaller then most kids menu portions. Loved the food and the place but couldn't bring myself to go back with the value.
