We had a Five-Star Experience at Tavern House Kitchen and Bar. Tavern House Kitchen + Bar is located in the heart of Newport Beach with a stunning view of the Newport Beach Bay. We came for lunch and we were seated by a window with a lovely view of the marina. The restaurant has a romantic and cozy vibe, offering comfortable seating and a huge bar area serving delicious cocktails and wines from their own wine cellar. Our server, was outstanding-professional, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She offered thoughtful recommendations and provided detailed descriptions that made it easy to choose dishes , that we absolutely loved. The food was superb-delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The restaurant offers a great menu with a lot of variety. All of their food is prepared with the highest quality ingredients . They feature creative clean dishes of fresh seafood along with an offering of everyone’s favorite comfort foods. We have ordered : a Crispy Coconut Shrimp- the marmalade and mustard sauces were a perfect combination that made this appetizer a MUST TRY!!! , Artisan Flatbreads - were freshly baked and so delicious😋 , definitely the best Artisan flatbreads ever! The Nashville hot fried chicken - lightly fried, not too greasy, great portion! And the Fish and Chips were amazing too - perfectly paired with coleslaw and chipotle tartare sauce ! The restaurant offers a great wine list , signature cocktails, beers, and other drinks. The bar has great happy hour and Saturday brunch specials- highly recommend! Overall: From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. We Highly recommend Tavern House for anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience !!!

Very good tasting food at a reasonable price, decent service and an excellent view if you're seated next to the window looking directly at the harbor. I tried the prime rib dip. Not the greatest since the meat was a shaved type, like lunch meat, but the bread was outstanding. My wife tried the Cobb salad with chicken. It was good green lettuce and lots of good extras. The chicken looked like it was processed meat.

Nori was fabulous! Randomly found this place after arriving off a flight. So glad we did. Food was phenomenal and not bad for the price! Please get the chocolate soufflé. Also best clam chowder! Enjoy! Views of the harbor are great too. Nice atmosphere.

Enjoyed an incredible lunch! The crab & shrimp sandwich with clam chowder, soup, and a salad & chips (their lunch special) was so good! My husband enjoyed the French Dip and lobster bisque soup. The lobster bisque is something I'd come back for - so delicious and smooth!!!! Cooper made me a fantastic Hugo Spritz with Campari mixed in. His service was outstanding and he was very welcoming to the area. Great views of the boats docked as well. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area!

Google
I had the Lobster Bisque 🦞 and the Buddha Bowl. The Bisque was so good that I'd return just for THAT. But really everything was just great. Also, special note: Our server, Cooper, was so great. Attentive, personable, great suggestions. He's a star there.

Great location for dates or small groups...tables of 4 or 6 to 8. Romantic vibes but singles can grab a seat at the bar and relax in style. Great cocktails. Not a large menu but something for everyone and super tasty. Can't believe we shut it down.

Relaxing, dims atmosphere at night. Bartender was great, was very attentive to ensure we were happy. Drinks and food are great, and seems to be a go-to spot for some of the locals

Had a 6 pm reservation on a Saturday night. We were seated right away. Didn’t see any parking so had to valet. Beautiful view and very loud. Server asked for our drink order immediately after we sat- asked to give us a minute while we reviewed the menu. She returned about 10 minutes later. Server was very friendly. Ordered some drinks which arrived pretty quickly. Ordered garlic bread appetizer- super dry. We could only eat about half. French onion soup was good. Chopped salad was also dry with very few crumbles. Meh. Entrees were delivered- the food runners don’t know which entree goes to which seat. Food wasn’t great. Pork chop is super thick, pretty pink, and tastes like Brussel sprouts. Short rib was super tender but lacking in flavor. I don’t think anyone ate more than 1/4 of their food. It came and was taken away without anyone ever asking how it was. Expensive to be throwing it away, actually. We wouldn’t return.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant with great views and usually great food and staff. We are locals and have been going there for years going back to its previous iteration 333 Bistro. We had a party of 6 and went for some cocktails and food during Happy Hour at 4PM for about an hour since we stopped in a boat. The place was empty. We are very aware that Happy Hour is in the bar or right side tables. Since the restaurant had just opened and was not busy at all we requested a window seat. We had no problem sitting anywhere but a nice hostess said no problem as long as we were out in an hour and a half. No problem we would be leaving before that time anyway. This is when things went really wrong starting at the top with the General Manager Jeffrey Grasso and the server. When we asked for the happy hour menus we got a dirty look and attitude from the server and nobody told her that we were going to do a quick HH there. So she summoned the GM who came and was the most demeaning person. He didn't even listen to us so we can let him know his hostess sat us there for Happy Hour and we all agreed we were there for an hour or less. Instead he begins to lecture and belittle us like kids instead of adults. He said, "Okay one round and you're out." And continued by saying, "Are we communicating now?!" When he was doing all the talking. We were in shock he would treat regular Customers that way. He ruined our entire evening...... It was so negative and then things got worse of course. Missed drink orders for over 15 minutes and long hair in the Poke bowl and all along the bar and entire restaurant was almost empty and bar barely 25% full. It wasn't just a miss things happen. It was mistreatment from top management. Also wanted to mention we are all over 60 well dressed and we were not drinking. I am not sure how things can be fixed with the six of us. Newport is a small town and the word will get around if this is how management treats Customers. Attached are some photos or our "hair" in food and photos or the empty restaurant taken during our meal yet they insisted people need to sit in a dark corner just because. Mistakes happen and are forgiven all the time. But demeaning attitudes at the top levels are a big issue. We felt like it was a privilege to eat there? Not sure how you can fix bad culture.

Yelp
Sunday, September 24, 2023 Always great food and views! Try and get a seat next to the window. Some times they leave the windows open and you get a nice breeze. The staff are so nice and food is great. We always get the Brussels sprouts.

Yelp
We tried Tavern for the first time for date night and sadly, we left pretty disappointed. Let's start with the good: the calamari and shishito peppers was great appetizer and Amber, our server, was fantastic. She was attentive, sweet, and super helpful. Service overall was definitely one of the highlights of the night. The clam chowder and mango sorbet were also delicious, my favorite parts of the whole meal. I'm not usually a sorbet fan, but this one was so good I'd come back just for that! Now for the not so great. The salmon crudo wasn't the best. Came out on the warm side which threw me a bit off. Usually raw fish is served on the chiller or room temperature side. Martin ordered the ribs (they were listed as a special) but he didn't really enjoy them. They were dry, but he still worked through them. I was excited for the prime rib, but when it came out it was completely well done. I prefer mine rare to medium rare, so it was very disappointing. Amber immediately took it back, and the manager came over to explain that the entire cut that night had been cooked all the way through, so unfortunately there wasn't a medium rare option available. I get that mistakes happen, but it was still a letdown. I switched to the filet mignon combo instead, which was just okay -- but again I loved the clam chowder. The location is beautiful, right on the water with a nice atmosphere, but because the service was so awesome, I'd give Tavern another shot to try their prime rib on another night. I'll probably stick with the clam chowder, calamari, and definitely the mango sorbet, and give the prime rib one more try before making my final call on this spot. Stay tuned!

Yelp
Didn't plan it but we made it to the last 10 minutes of Happy Hour! We were first seated on the side for the better view of the marina , but happy hour could only be ordered at the bar inside so I sacrificed my sunny view for some happy eats and drinks. Glad we did because we had great conversations and service with the bartender/waiter ! Happy hour was definitely worth it. I was so full from all the variety and apps ordered. French dip sliders, clam chowder, shrimp were all good. We also ordered the flat bread but since it was forgotten to be put in, we told the guy to cancel it since we were already stuffed. Whiskey ginger and espresso martini was made really good too!

Yelp
Their French Onion filet mignon is the best I've ever had. They also have a great combo consisting of a petit filet mignon, clam chowder and a salad. If you come here before 6 pm they have some good wines $4 off. And sunset views are like a painting. I come here as often as my wallet and my belly permits. And sign up for their points club. Great deals. The service is always A1, and I always feel welcome even when I am scrounging for all discounts that I can get.

Yelp
Very nice Venue, warm and cozy with waterside views of beautiful boats/yachts. Seating also ample and the food was also pretty good. Was whist hanging out with a group of friends and we all sort of ordered the same so can't say we had much variety to flavor but definitely planning come back. I personally ordered the Chilean sea bass which was phenomenal. Perfectly cooked sea bass on top of a creamy mashed potatoes and topped with try h crispy fried onions. The onions were a perfect crisp. It also had a slight wasabi flavor to it which gave it a freshness. The rest of the table ordered the Buddha bowl with different protein which they all thoroughly enjoyed. Thought was a little more rice than was hoping but tastefully done. The tuna protein was the best in my opinion. Overall great place for date night and for gathering of friends. Larger tables and private dining also available in the other side of the restaurant hall if you're looking for an event planning. Would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Went to Tavern House for Mother's Day lunch. Atmosphere is nice with a view of the Newport Beach Bay. Enjoyed the fish & chips, French onion soup, and lobster & shrimp sandwich. Everything was good. It was a pleasant surprise after lunch the restaurant gifted the Moms with a $25 gift card to come back. Restaurant & restrooms were clean. I'll be back to enjoy my gift card.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants! We went for Thanksgiving and were so excited all week! First, what went well... the valet crew is amazing. 1) So personal and genuinely seem happy to be taking care of us! Also very affordable. 2) The food and drinks are always exceptional and this was no different! The blood orange Cosmo is consistently EXCEPTIONAL! We had reservations and the desk was very transactional with us AFTER they finished chatting with recorder. "We'll go look for you a table." No "Happy Thanksgiving" or the historical jovial cheer we've come to expect. They seated us by the window (our favorite). Ari was our server and she was much more transactional than our previous experiences at this establishment. She took our orders, delivered our soup and there was nothing special or even personable for this holiday meal. We noticed bread was served at the tables around us and asked for bread which she delivered with one tab of butter. I caught her and explained we only got 1 tab of butter to share and 4 rolls. She brought us a second tab of butter. These are not big tabs and it struck me odd that we had to ask for the bread and explain that 1 butter was not enough... this is very unusual for the Tavern House. The ambiance and the view is always spectacular but the energy has shifted since our last visit.

Yelp
Enjoyed a wonderful evening at a company event. The sunset was beautiful! It was a private event and we had a special menu. I have a very unique allergy and they were wonderful. They were able to accommodate me and made sure I enjoyed my dinner. The food was wonderful, great portion sizes and solid flavor.

Rhonda B.

Yelp
Wow, last night we went to dinner and had some the BEST food and service in ages! The Kona Ribeye is a full pound of perfectly charred and marinated deliciousness! Our server Nori was over the top in addressing our questions regarding the menu and constantly checking in on our enjoyment level! She was both pleasant and professional. When we asked how they're happy hour was, she brought us a menu so we could check it out. We will definitely be going back to give happy hour a try!

Yelp
There is not one thing on this plate that did not taste amazing. The salmon was cooked to perfection, the cabbage slaw and chipotle sauce were mind blowing. The black beans had just enough smokiness and heat & were paired well with the rice. The service by Giovanni and Rogelio, always over the top. Nikki, the manager is always at the front of the house with a warm welcome. Great food, service and ambiance.

Yelp
This is a wonderful spot with a great menu! We came for lunch and were seated by a window with a lovely view of the marina. We ordered some appetizers and drinks for brunch, including the BBQ grilled oysters, calamari, and their house Bloody Mary with the cutest garnish! I loved my drink and the apps were delicious! For my entree, I ordered the chicken and waffles. The gravy was to die for and I loved the addition of the bacon. The portion sizes here are gigantic so you'll definitely have leftovers! We got the banana sundae to share amongst 4 and it was huge but very good. Love David Wilhelm's restaurants and would return here again!

Yelp
Beautiful view and great service. There's indoor and outdoor seatings but if you want to watch the sunset on the water-opt for outdoor; they also allow pets with patio seating. The restaurant is located upstairs but if you're in a wheelchair, it can be a bit complicated because they have this self/restaurant operated lift/elevator that the hostess has to unlock and manually send it down and such. We ordered the French onion, crab/lobster lunch sandwich and the Chilean Sea-bass. All was scrumptious. I normally don't like onion soup but this is by far the best. We also got their mousse pate but I wouldn't recommend it-it had a sweet taste to it which isn't my preference when I'm eating pate.
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and had a great experience. The Hugo Spritz cocktail was so yummy, I'd come back just for this and a view of the sunset and water! For food we had the fish and chips, French Onion Soup, and the Lobster and Crab Club Sandwich. We throughly enjoyed all of it. Looked like there is a great happy hour which I'd love to come back and try.

Yelp
So,I can't seem to stay away from this place. The service, the atmosphere, the view. It's located right on the Newport Bay. So I had the lobster shrimp sandwich of course with the French onion soup and a salad. Everything is tip top in flavor and portions. My son had the fish and chips which looked amazing. The French onion soup is by far the best I've had and I've had plenty. We came in at 5pm and around 6p people started filling up the place. I suggest getting a reservation, unless you come for lunch during the week, then getting in is like Sunday morning...easy. That being said check out the photos.

Yelp
We came to Tavern House Kitchen and Bar for Easter Sunday brunch and had a great overall experience. The location is beautiful, the ambiance was perfect for a holiday meal, and the food and drinks did not disappoint. We ordered a few mimosas and shared a few appetizers--everything was fresh, flavorful, and really well done. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. The only hiccup was with my salad. I was initially told there would be no substitutions allowed for the Easter brunch menu, but they were able to accommodate my request to leave off the blue cheese. Unfortunately, it still came out with blue cheese, and I had to send it back. By the time I received the corrected salad, everyone else had already finished eating. That was a bit of a bummer, especially since the salad was actually really good once it came out right. Despite that small issue, it didn't ruin the experience. The staff was kind, the setting was lovely, and the food was worth the visit. I would definitely come back again and give it another shot!

Yelp
I came to the Tavern House Kitchen with my team from work and we had a great time! The service was excellent, our waiter was very attentive throughout our dinner, and provided some good recommendations for meals and drinks. The menu has a lot to choose from, we started with the Town Dock Calamari, the Spicy Ahi Poke (which wasn't too spicy), and the brussels sprouts which were excellent. For my entree, I went with the recommendation of the Pan Roasted Chilean Sea Bass which was excellent. I really like the venue, it's chill but still upscale enough to enjoy it. There is a nice view of the harbor and plenty of seating. Overall great dining experience in Newport, glad we ended up here!

Yelp
Good drinks, delicious food, great service, and beautiful view. Enjoyed a Sunday brunch with a nice view of the Peninsula. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Tavern House Kitchen + Bar nestled in the heart of Newport Beach. We were treated warmly with truly delightful hosts. Stepping into a restaurant of natural light with a stunning view of the tranquil channel. The interior has a tasteful decor setting. Or server Katie went above and beyond serving our party of 7 with such politeness and attentiveness. For brunch we ordered plenty! The dozen fresh chilled oysters, crispy coconut shrimp, New England clam chowder, calamari and shishito peppers, Tavern greens salad , Fried Chicken and Waffle Benedict , Classic eggs Benedict, Huevos Rancheros, Battered fish and chips, and the Prime Rib Hash! Wow almost everything on the menu! Can't forget to mention the exquisite drinks: the classic Espresso martini and the beautiful Butterfly Effect! Everything was so beautifully plated and equally deliciously flavored! Would not recommend this restaurant enough!
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
This review is so well deserved. On a recommendations from a friend this was our first visit to celebrate a special occasion. The interior was spacious, comfortable and I didn't feel like we were seated right on top of the table next to us. I appreciated how we were able to have a conversation and not talk over others. Our server, Georgina only enhanced our dining experience and made the evening very pleasurable. Attentive, friendly and created an environment that made us feel comfortable andwell taken care of. We started off with a variety of appetizers and each selected a different entree from the menu No one at thetable was disappointed. I just don't know how it is that we've never been here before.

Valen S.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Newport. Beautiful view and food is always so fresh and delicious. Never had anything that wasn't good but the French onion soup is some of the best I've had. Shout out to Rogelio and Gio, who make the best cocktails.
google avatar

Navid S.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food. Beautiful view. Valet only. We had a good time. We told my in laws we were expecting our baby here. We filmed their reaction and everything! I'm docking two stars off for one reason. When we got seated, I had a sudden realization that my mother in law loves to sit by the window, which I forgot to request prior to booking the reservation over the phone. We had asked if we could move by the window, but the host shared that it was "reserved". The entire time we ate, dined, and finished, no one ever sat at that table. This made me pretty disappointed in their customer service. One simple accommodation would have made it a 5 star experience! I still recommend this place, but I probably won't ever make reservations here in the future.

Yelp
Took a chance not knowing what the food is like, just saw it was close to the water! Great view and service to match! Can't say enough: food portions, huge, dessert phenomenal! It says for two, more like four. Had the fried chicken, Buttermilk licking good. The Bananageddon, out of the world!!! Our server was the sweetest. Will return for sure! Thank you Katy N

Yelp
Visiting family in the OC we met up at this local favorite. Got there early and let me tell you it fills up fast even on a Monday evening. We were walk ins when they opened at 4:00pm and it filled up fast. So good to see this for a local business who has a great local following. Sat at a window booth with beautiful views of the harbor and sunset. Great ambience and decor, would definitely come back again for a seat at the bar. Christian our waiter displayed his best qualities of charm, knowledge and suggestions on menu preferences, and none disappointed us. Started with a bottle of The Prisoner ( last bottle in the house) and the Tuna Poke on wontons with mango avocado- Don't miss out on the French onion soup it was delizioso, followed up by the French Dip. Had a square of the flatbread featuring zuccini blossom. Food came out hot and plenty of deliciousness to go around, couldn't finish the French dip but will make a great snack for later or lunch tomorrow. All and all Tavern House has a new regular when we are taking time out in OC. Well done staff, food, libations, decor and location. Don't miss out on this local establishment and great for a harbor view for that special occasion and that special someone. Grazie

Marisa B.

Yelp
First time at this great restaurant. Every dish seem to have a unique flavor, so I want to come back and try more! The service was phenomenal by Lenora, a true professional with exceptional knowledge of the menu adding, passion, pride and a cheerful attentiveness for this establishment. Ambiance and decor was great with the wonderful bar in the center and tables with views were outstanding.

Ann N.

Yelp
The dinning area has a warm and cozy vibe with beautiful views of the Newport Bay. I really liked the menu with options ranging from simple burgers to steak and fish. The menu also had lots of healthy options and it would be easy to accomodate just about anyone here. The service was also good. One downside is the tap menu for beer is pretty limited.

Yelp
*Whose House? Tavern's House* First of all, I'd like to give props and commend the entire team for outstanding & friendly customer service. It's seems to be a lost art these days and Tavern House Kitchen has some serious game. From the way Alex handles phonecalls (heard a great Steely Dan song while on hold which never happens) to everyone in the entire house...and the awesome guys in the front yard navigating valet service. Also want to extend a round of applause to Amanda for going above & beyond. Because once I got home and realized I forgot a pair of glasses on our table? AMANDA-TO-THE-RESCUE. It was a busy Saturday night and our lovely waitress, Brie, was slammed, but she handled everything with style & grace at our cozy & quiet corner booth. And she worked with me throughout the evening, when I mentioned I'd be taking dinner to-go for wifey back at home. The buss team followed everyone's lead serving & clearing plates and making sure our h2o glasses remained full. One of my all-time favorite appetizers is Calamari, but prefer round rings & tentacles, so when I saw & read that THK serves flat pieces, I was a little apprehensive because it's usually tough & chewy -- which was not the case here. It was so soft & tender and the perfect consistency, I was able to cut some of the larger pieces in half with a fork. The spicy mayo style sauce was Fantastico too. My only gripe is it'd be nice to see a few more pieces of Calamari on homeplate -- especially when I opted to share some with my teammates ;-) I'm a sucker for Petrale Sole Almandine, and THK cooked up & served me some of THE very best. The portion size was plentiful and appreciated how they stacked the pieces of sole to lift & fuel my soul, because Patrale is a thinner grade of fish, and the thicker bites made my tastebuds & tummy feel right. I prefer roasted potatoes but their mashed pots were executed & prepared perfecto. And the green beans? They were extremely fresh, crisp and sweet. Some of my dining companions mentioned they thought it was "undercooked" but not me. I enjoy my green beans and veggies the most al dente. Everything on my plate was so damn good I didn't want it to end. Everyone else throughly enjoyed their dinners & Maine Lobster Bisques: Like Father like son ~~ Dad loved his Sole too :-) Stepmom & Dad's BF: Buttermilk Fried Chicken (THK's house special) which is not your typical comfort food here -- it's two big thick chicken breast cutlets, fried golden brown. I desperately wanted to ask for a bite but bit my lip to resist. Stepmom's BF: Salmon Salad was a very large and impressive center-cut that she enjoyed. The son of a BF: BBQ Spiced Salmon that was happily devoured before I was halfway done with my dinner. Last but not least...and rounding the bases, Wifey was deliciously delighted with her Petrale Sole too...and so was I the next day with the double-header left-overs :-) For dessert we all shared: {{{DRUMROLL PLEASE}}} THE Bananarama: Pecan Ice Cream, Candied Pecans, Toffee Crumbles, Banana Pastry Cream, Fresh Bananas, Salty Caramel Sauce. Believe it or not, it was not as SWEET as it sounds and it was tripleD-lish & OUTSTANDING period. It's like a banana cream pie caramel sundae. And it's a good thing there was 4 of us sharing this large dessert because I could've eaten more :-) And thankfully, 2 sat this one out -- but one ordered their own cheesecake and loved it. The lighting throughout the restaurant is just right and so is the causal decor & vibe. Our elevated booth was so comfy it's easy to dine & linger...and even though I wasn't paying much attention to the games on the flatscreen TV's, I glanced every now & then. Like a professional athlete who takes the time studying game films and their upcoming opponent, I researched & studied Tavern House Kitchen prior to the first pitch...and couldn't be more satisfied with the outcome and memorable dining experience with family & friends..and look forward to another trot around the bases with Wifey. {{{Big-High-Five}}} Walk-off Grandslam Fan for Life

Yelp
Perfect lunch spot to enjoy the beauty of OC. I brought my mom here for a special lunch and they did not disappoint. This place feels fancy and homey at the same time. Gorgeous setting, well-dressed crowd, and comfort food as you wish your mom made it. Service (by Renee) was friendly and knowledgeable. I love a server who steers me to something I wouldn't normally order (fried chicken! And she was right.) I got it on top of a delicious salad, so yeah, I'm healthy. And the view of the harbor is simply divine.

Yelp
On a recent trip to Newport Beach, my boss told me he was tired of Nobu and challenged me to find something he'd like better. Fully convinced that both my job and my reputation were on the line, I aggressively researched all options before landing on Tavern House. Spoiler: I was triumphant. From the moment we walked in, the staff were each more pleasant than the last - from the hostesses who knew we were visiting from NC to the absolutely tremendous Nori, we felt cared for and welcomed. The wine list was one of the better curated lists I've seen recently - was absolutely tickled to see my favorite Orin Swift in the bottles (8 Years in the Desert) plus his Prisoner by the glass. We landed on Austin Hope as the ideal complement to our dinners. We started with the barbecued chipotle bourbon oysters, which were *amazing* (and as the thing that made me choose the restaurant initially, they lived up). Around the table, we had the Kurobuta double-cut pork chop, the prime rib dip, the seafood special I forgot, and my own French Onion filet. That filet was the best damn steak I have EVER had. It combined all the wonderful elements of classic French Onion soup with a perfectly seared filet. With frites, y'all!!! We also shared an order of the charred Brussels sprouts, which were also fantastic. Somehow, we saved enough room to risk ordering dessert: a key lime pie martini (dubbed "proper delicious"), the carrot cake (fine. It's dessert laced with vegetables, so), and - drumroll - Bananaggedon. I would come back for that alone and I'm not even a banana fan. So ridiculously over-the-top and easily served our table of four. Even those more excited for carrot cake quickly abandoned that plate in favor of this. Meanwhile, we had a lovely view of the water - complete with fireworks over the Bay! The restaurant was fully decorated for the holidays but I imagine it would have been equally cozy and welcoming even without the seasonal additions. All told, this meal easily crossed into my top 3 for 2024, even accounting for recency bias. It's now a must-visit for every future work trip (we even added it as a top choice in the guidebook we give all visiting execs).

Yelp
Sat at the bar for 8 minutes and could not get a bartender so I could order a drink. A couple came in and one of the bartenders beelined it to them and ignored me.

Yelp
We had a great meal here last night. The coconut shrimp to start paired with a fresh squeezed watermelon margarita. Then on to the ranch bbq salad which was fantastic. Paired the salad with a beautiful Sancerre. Highly recommend. The view of the harbor and the quality of the service and food were impeccable. My mother and I really enjoyed our dining experience. Pro tip - sit at the bar during 4-6pm happy hour for HH pricing. Our server Katie was delightful, attentive, and professional. The manager checked in with us also. This is a very well run establishment. Strongly recommend.

Yelp
I went for brunch today and this place had great service. I got the burger with truffle fries and they were amazing. They highly recommended the chicken and waffles so my friend got that. Our other friend got an omelette. Everyone liked their food and the views.

Yelp
The absolute best French onion soup to be had anywhere. Great location on the water and a very pleasant bar area.

Yelp
On of my husband's son has boat and we decided to go down to Newport and cruise with family. They made reservations at this restaurant and it was beautiful. Our server Faith was very good and she even told us that the tip would be on the bill. We all had different things on the menu some lunch some breakfast. Three of us got the Hugo spritz boy was it good. The prices were reasonable, especially for the area.

Yelp
I came across great reviews online and decided to try Tavern House Kitchen + Bar for their prime rib while visiting from Los Angeles. Not being familiar with the area, I relied on Yelp, and I'm glad I did--this spot exceeded expectations. The service was outstanding; our waitress Annie was exceptional, and the entire team--from bussers to managers checking in at tables--was genuinely attentive. The food was equally impressive: the Caesar salad and clam chowder were fresh and flavorful, the burger was spot on, and the prime rib dinner special was absolutely worth it. Highly recommend! Annie did a great job recommending the wine and tequila. Great memories made... Highly recommend.

Yelp
Our server was great and attentive! The restaurant itself seems a little bit more on the nicer side and the view on the bay was really nice as well! The seating did seem a little close to each other as we were next to another table. We got the Mediterranean salad and the French Onion Filet Mignon and it was delicious and savory. Probably wouldn't go here again given the price point as it seemed to be paying more for the ambiance, but nothing was wrong with our experience so 5 stars!

Yelp
I came for dinner reunion with my cousins, brother, and adult children. Service was great. Noise level made it hard to carry on a conversation. I ordered a bowl with chicken, rice, and vegetables. It came with a spicy sauce. I said not to use the sauce. So without the spicy sauce, my throat and mouth were burning and I couldn't eat it. I totally enjoyed the cheesecake entree/dessert.

Yelp
Host was very kind, nice and sat us at at a high top table. It was a late lunch on a Sunday- There was a large party sitting behind us and could hardly hear any of our own conversation- which is uncontrollable- but also noted with the overall experience. As for service- our server was nothing great- she maybe came to the table 3 times total- I had ordered a margarita without salt, and it arrived with salt- she left quick enough before I can stop her to fix the drink. I tried to take it off myself but all the salt poured into the drink. We had yet to see her for another 20 mins. At this point-our food already arrived at this point and food halfway eaten and still no where to be seen. I ended up stopping another server to ask he for a new drink which she quickly and kindly fixed. The next time we saw her was to clear our plates when we asked for the check. Food wasn't bad- we had ordered the prime rib sandwich and a chicken salad. We had not condiments- salt pepper or ketchup- but at this point already waiting for our server to come back- there was no point in even asking since we had already eaten most of our meal. We just stopped in after looking at our new apt nearby- so it might be a while checking this place out again- and even If so-I'd opt for the bar and hopefully get quicker and better service than what we got.

Yelp
Nice ambience overlooking the marina and good service. Coconut shrimp appetizer was excellent but only 4 shrimp. Southwest Caesar was great. French onion soup was decent. Chicken and waffles were fine but nothing to write about but overall was a good experience. Valet parking only

Yelp
Love Tavern House! The food, the atmosphere, and especially Wine Wednesdays--they're the best. It's become a regular spot for us; we're here at least twice a month and it never disappoints. Great service, solid menu, and a perfect spot to wind down with a glass (or two). Highly recommend!

Yelp
We had a wedding celebration and the brunch was outstanding. David and his team worked with us and executed flawlessly. The food was delicious and the service just right - very attentive. The guests could not say enough about the location, the food, and the service. BTW we also had Easter brunch and it was great

Yelp
Upscale restaurant with a nice bar area. The night I went, all the parking spots were VALET only! $6 valet, if you're eating at the restaurant, or $20 all day parking.

Yelp
Hosted a Brunch for 25 people this past Sunday. We enjoyed a pre-selected 3 course menu. It was a little difficult to choose what to have, as they have a great selection of delicious food. Highly recommend the chicken & waffles and the Eggs Benedict. The restaurant has an amazing view of the Harbor. It's right off PCH and Bayside Drive. We had a private room with amazing staff. They are so attentive to every detail. David Wilhelm, was super helpful and he is on top of it, fast response to any questions in booking this event for us. I highly recommend this place for brunch or dinner.

Yelp
The schedule shown here on Yelp was wrong for Sunday brunch, and their website also showed the wrong time. They open at 10:30. Their hostess wasn't here to seat us. But a server hustled out to help us and we really appreciated his efforts. He doesn't d have his hands full as he was playing both hostess and waiting on us. We both got bottomless mimosas and he was racing to and fro, but still managed to pour our refills in a timely manner. For me, it feels like there's good people working here and they care about service enough that even if they are short staffed they're still able to pull it together. Whoever manages this place isn't taking care of their web and social presence though and that shows a kind a lackadaisical leadership. The kitchen killed, Huevos Rancheros were the bomb.
