My date and I dined at Taverna Agora last night, March 18, 2025, on a first date.
As a Greek, I was familiar with the dishes. We started with Spanakopita, which was very good. Then we ordered Pastitsio, which was fair. I typically don't order that dish when dining out because I prefer my own version, but it was decent. Lastly, we had the Souvlaki plate, which was very good!
Regarding the service, we had to ask for a specific table away from other diners to be a little more private, and it seemed like the staff wasn't pleased with our request, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Our server didn't introduce himself properly, so I didn't catch his name. Overall, we felt completely rushed throughout our dining experience.
When our server, a young man, asked if we wanted dessert, we declined but requested a to-go box. He returned with the box and proceeded to remove everything from our table, including our utensils, which we could have used to scrape our plates. Instead, we had to use the skewer sticks. He stood there waiting for us to pay, not giving us a moment to digest our food. To top it off, he took our water glasses and even the one with beer that still had some left!
Extremely disappointed considering I'm in the hospitality industry myself.
