The Best Cocktails to Sip in September in Dallas | Eater

"Good news for all of you gluten-free diners out there: this popular Italian restaurant is serving up the Italian eats you’ve been dreaming about, sans gluten. Locals love Taverna’s gluten-free pizza and pasta. You can even get fried favorites like fritto misto and veal parm coated in crunchy chickpea flour. While you’re indulging in all of the foods you usually can’t eat, you’ll need a cocktail to toast to your good time. Try a refreshing Spritz Al Bergamotto with BOMBAY SAPPHIRE gin, prosecco and bergoto, a sparkling bergamot-flavored soda. Blood oranges are also popular in Italy. Celebrate the exotic fruit with a Blood Orange Margarita with PATRÓN Silver, triple sec, blood orange juice, lime and agave syrup." - Vox Creative

Lovely spot with a warm, cozy vibe and truly delicious Italian food. Everything we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff were consistently attentive, friendly, and really knew their stuff — it made the whole experience feel extra special. Great place for a relaxed lunch, dinner with friends, or even a quiet solo meal with a glass of wine. Definitely coming back!

Came across this spot and decided to give it a try. The Branzino was actually quite good—nicely cooked and flavorful. Unfortunately, the salad that came with it was a real letdown. Not fresh at all and just poorly done 😂… One pleasant surprise was the mushroom soup. It didn’t look particularly appealing when served, but it tasted much better than expected—rich and comforting. Service was just average. Staff weren’t particularly attentive, and the overall experience felt a bit underwhelming on that front.. Parking here was also an issue. Valet costs $7+ tips, but it was a bit of a walk and very inconvenient.. All in all, it’s one of those places with a couple of good items on the menu, but a lot of room for improvement when it comes to service and logistics.。

Had the best Sunday Morning brunch! We sat on the patio and there was beautiful fake flowers hanging over the lights on the patio. The waitress and staff were all really sweet and helpful. I ordered the BEC Sandwich (Bacon Egg Cheese) and it came with fries and it was so good ! And everything was so reasonably priced. Overall had a great experience! I will say- they go have valet but it was full so I had to scramble to find parking which was a pain but it worked out.

We had an enjoyable experience at Taverna on New Year’s Eve. This place has always intrigued us as we walk past it on the trail. The service was incredibly friendly and we enjoyed the ambiance. Overall, the food was good but not excellent. We really enjoyed the burrata but felt that the pizza was not necessarily exceptional. Would give it 3.75-4 stars.

Google
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I felt really disappointed with this delivery. The portion size was shockingly small for the price — it looked more like a sample than a proper meal. It’s hard not to feel ripped off when you’re paying full price and receiving so little. Definitely not worth what I paid

Google
I am beyond obsessed with Taverna. Taverna and Toulouse have the same ownership (if I’m not mistaken) and they both have such a great, cozy atmosphere. The truffle fries are the best in Dallas, in my opinion (perfectly crisp and well-distributed). I love the burger, bruschetta, focaccia, and their pastas. My go-to is the bolognese. Right off the Katy Trail if you want to grab brunch after a nice walk.

Google
This restaurant is incredible from the moment you enter. The hostess is kind. They have a program that saves your name and number; so, they welcome you back. The manager / owner stops by every table to say hello you. We have lots of food sensitivity / allergies; and, they don’t even blink at accommodating them. We do not drink alcohol - so they make drinking sparkling water such a treat; with red wine glasses and an insulated cooler for the table to hold the bottle. This last visit we learned they even have non alcoholic sparkling wine! Huge bonus Now for the food Wow! We are always blown away with the quality, creativity and flavor! As I mentioned, they accommodated our food issues with a smile. We have been dining there for years and will continue to do so. We live in out of Dallas and love making the trip to enjoy the experience of dining there!

We visited Taverna on Knox Street in Dallas this evening with a reservation originally set for 18 people. Unfortunately, only 9 of us were able to make it. From the start, the manager on duty, Maria, came across as very firm and a bit too stern. When she realized no one else would be arriving, she immediately and somewhat aggressively removed the extra waters from the table, which felt unnecessary and rude. I understand it wasn’t ideal for such a large reservation to shrink, but it wasn’t something within my control. Throughout the evening, Maria approach felt nervous and aggressive, as if she was frustrated with us for the no-shows, and it left a sour impression. Considering our table still spent close to $700 (with gratuity), I expected more courtesy. On the positive side: the food was delicious, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the outdoor area was lovely. The dining experience itself was enjoyable, but the service attitude unfortunately overshadowed it for me. I’m not sure if I’d return because of how we were treated, which is disappointing given how great everything else was.

Yelp
I get the same thing every time. TRUFFLE FRIES- the style is a little different..like In-N-Out fries... A little soggy. They give this to you with ketchup, but ask for a side of aïoli. TRUFFLE RISOTTO- this was good. Just as I remembered. SPAGHETTI VONGOLE- clam spaghetti. This was tasty. BREAD- you have to ask for it... This was good. Great compliment to the pasta. Give it with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Yelp
Always a great time here. I have visited maybe four times since May so yes, I do enjoy this location. One of the times I came for brunch, I believe we showed up about an hour before our reservation just to see if they could squeeze us in and they did- so that was awesome. The service is very quick. The restaurant is always clean. One of the managers, Anthony, is extremely helpful. He definitely does his share of the workload- which he really doesn't have to do but he hustles hard for sure. Overall, great spot for Sunday brunch. We will definitely come back, no complaints. Eggs Benedict are my favorite on the menu. $3 bellinis/ mimosas on Sundays for sure, not sure about Saturdays- but regardless, I love a good deal.

Yelp
$3 mimosas and Bellinis for weekend brunch special. The wait time is long but you can call ahead. They have a bar that is open seating and don't need rsvps you can order from prior to sitting. We got the eggs Benedict ($16) and the taverna burger ($18). Both were filling and come with lots of potatos or fries. Service was quick and the the seating inside was more Italian tablecloth. Great for a boozy brunch and to show visitors
google avatar

Yelp
The perfect brunch spot for a casual hang out! Mimosas were $3 a glass, we ended up getting a carafe of mimosa, a pizza Bianca, the bolognese, and a bruschetta for the table. Every dish was super fresh & delicious. We had the perfect amount of food to split for a table of 4. The location is perfect to kick off a Saturday in Dallas.
google avatar

Yelp
Located at Knox Street, a must-try Italian place. There is a wide range of dishes and the service is also extremely good. They have both indoor and patio seating. But the price is a little high for the quantity of the dish they serve. The ambiance is really nice.

Yelp
We started coming to this place a few weeks ago for brunch and now it's becoming a regular Sunday place for us. We usually sit at the bar and greeted by the friendly bartender, Ana! She's great along with the other staff members. They have a couple of TVs too to watch some sports if on. We have been going back for the "create your own omelet" which we get with everything including Jalepenos. This omelet is just so delicious and filling too. We also love love their bacon and even the potatoes are cooked to perfection! We will be coming back again! I also had dinner here a couple of weeks ago and the pizza was delicious but forgot to snap a pic for yall.

Justin C.

Yelp
This is delicious! I think all Italian tastes pretty much the same, but not this place! We ordered the Negroni that is wine based, crispy and refreshing. Our waitress was the sweetest and the staff were accommodating. In addition, the pasta-stuffed pasta was unreal. I recommend this place for good food, good atmosphere and wine.

Yelp
Went here for Easter brunch because we waited too long to make a reservation elsewhere. Saw a good influencer on Tik Tok recommend this place. Our experience wasn't that great- food was mediocre, they did not have a full bar, and the service was slow. The ravioli was the best thing we ordered. Maybe on a less busy day, our service would've been better. Great location though!

Yelp
We ran into this place as we were walking Katy Trail on a Sunday morning, the $3 mimosa sign caught our eye and we checked Yelp and saw that they had pretty good reviews so we decided to try it out! We sat outside, the heaters were initially way too hot but they turned them down with no problem when we asked! The mimosas are definitely champagne forward which is a pro in my by book! For food we for the salsiccia pizza and the taverna hash. The hash was a little bit underwhelming, the portion size was smaller than expected and as far as the meat it was probably equal parts fat and meat chunks, which I was a little disappointed by and the poached eggs were over cooked, but the positive was the the overall flavor of the dish was pretty good! The pizza was really good, we asked for a side of honey to drizzle over the top and it definitely took it to the next level and was a great size! The service was great!! The made sure we were good, made sure our glasses were never empty (both water and champagne flutes), and made sure that anything we asked for, whether ketchup or honey, we got really quickly! I would definitely come back again to try the pastas and the French toast!
google avatar

Yelp
Really cute location and atmosphere. The avocado toast was amazing and was overall just the perfect amount of food. Not too little but also not too filling. I have gone to the legacy west location and prefer the presentation there. however, it still tasted the same so I appreciate that consistency :)
google avatar

Yelp
It's very very good food for sure - in my opinion a little overpriced but it's the area. The tables are extremely close together and it gets super loud so it ruins what could be a romantic evening. If they got rid of 25% of the tables it would be far less cramped. Love the patio area! Overall I really like this place. I had the paglia e fieno which was tagliatelle pasta with chicken, mushrooms, and a truffle cream sauce. It was honestly some of the best pasta I've had! Fairly good wine choices as well.
google avatar

Avril J.

Yelp
It was great! Food and services. The carbonara pasta is the best. We loved it. I want to come back soon.

Yelp
My friends and I came on a Friday and were able to sit outside in a very cute candle lit table. Our waiter was fine, but didn't give us great advice when we ordered and wasn't very friendly. I ordered the Cesar salad, eggplant parmigiana, the New Zealand Pinot Noir, and later ordered the cannolis as dessert. My food was very good, but my friends didn't like their desserts. The Panna Cotta was very hard and had the texture of dried greek yogurt. The Tortino Al Cioccolato was mushy, super rich and more of a pudding than a cake. I'd come back again but I'd probably skip dessert.

Dee Dee G.

Yelp
My level of disappointment is beyond explanation! If I could give zero stars that would be the rating. I went here based on reviews and they were clearly embellishing! This lasagna cost $23 and it tastes like TRASH! It states it is made with spinach noodles but I cannot describe the mushy and grossness of this meal! Nothing about this meal was good. I threw the whole thing in the trash! Funny thing is...it looks nothing like the picture on their menu! If you are a lasagna lover like me....TRUST me when I tell you this is far from being anything tasteful! Taverna, take this off your menu!
google avatar

Emily T.

Yelp
Never a bad time at Taverna! The staff is great and knowledgeable and I've never had a bad dish. Prices are fair as well. Every table has a purse stand!! Every restaurant should have these!! I love going on a nice day when I can sit outside or on the convertible patio.
google avatar

Aria M.

Yelp
Good, fresh food with attentive service. A bit overpriced for what you get, but I assume that's the area. A good choice for Italian if you're on Knox.
google avatar

Dustin U.

Yelp
This place was surprisingly disappointing. It is really somewhere between 2 & 3 stars, but since I had high expectations the discrepancy pushed it to a 2. The mimosas tasted like cheap white wine. They don't have a full bar, which is disappointing for a brunch spot. We had the Fritto Misto and it tasted so fishy we didn't even finish it. My date had the Taverna Hash with scrambled eggs, which were mediocre. The same could be said for my Paglia E Fieno, disappointing but not disgusting.
google avatar

Priscilla K.

Yelp
I love that this restaurant is located on the lively street of Knox, footsteps away from the Katy trail. The patio seating was covered and air conditioned for us on a warmer day and provided a great ambience. Our waiter was attentive and provided great recommendations including the chef's focaccia, which came out pizza-style with a delicious cheesy crisp. The meatball appetizer had large portions and was definitely shareable. The spaghetti alla carbonara is my favorite pasta dish, with decent portions of cured pork and the perfect texture of sauce. My friend ordered the gnocchi rustici and it also did not disappoint. This is a versatile spot for weekend brunch or date night. I'll definitely be back as a regular.

Nancy S.

Yelp
Almost always perfect brunch experience! Best plan is to sit at the bar, if possible. It is nice that they have a bread service upon request, and that is one item that keeps us returning. They will provide a bit of olive oil and cracked pepper upon request, too, which makes for a nice start to the meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Food Alert! If you're in the Dallas/Uptown area and you're looking for a good brunch or dinner spot, well, look no more Taverna has got you covered! They offer comfort Italian-inspired farm-to-cook dishes for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with rustic county vibes and a beautiful patio with excellent service! BRUNCH: Apps: New OrleansBeignets Drinks: Red Sangria Entreé: Eggs Benedict: I had salmon & Crab. But honestly, the salmon was better than the crab; it had more flavor. DINNER: Apps: Meatballs Al Sugo Entree: Paglia E Fireno Dessert: Vanilla Panna Cotta

Yelp
Went here on a brunch date and it was so fun! I won't be seeing the boy again but I can't fault taverna for that ;p We came on a Saturday and it was packed but our service was still really good! Very attentive and gave great recommendations for what to get. Both of our food was great. I got the omelet which was super yummy and had all of my favorite omelet toppings. I picked it because it also came with some potatoes on the side which were super yummy. We originally came to Taverna for the $3 mimosas which was a great deal and so worth it! We ended up getting two pitchers and it was a great experience. I actually ended up leaving my phone on the table when we left and had no idea until 15 minutes later. So the mimosas weren't pure OJ lol. Luckily when I came back they had it at the hostess stand and I have never been so appreciative! If you are wanting to come here for a great brunch and amazing mimosa deal you have to! I will be definitely be coming back here with a friend.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my dining experience at Taverna. This location is very cute and the patio view is nice... and now enjoyable because the weather is cooling down. The portions of each of the dishes were just right and everything was seasoned well. The best hit of the night was the tiramisu dessert. The presentation was unique and the taste was truly a delight! I recommend setting reservations ahead of time and plan to valet because there is very limited street parking as it is off the busy, popular strip of Knox Henderson.
google avatar

Rick S.

Yelp
Waited over an hour at the bar for take out. They initially told me 20-25 minutes. Didn't acknowledge that they failed to put the order in, and they didn't apologize. People came in after me and left as I got my food.
google avatar

Rohit G.

Yelp
Came here for dessert with a friend. This place has great vibes! Parking is a bit difficult given the location, but there is valet, and it is right off the Katy trail. We got the Panna Cotta, which we weren't a big fan of since it's a little thicker than typical. We also got the tiramisu and that was great and wonderfully presented. We'll be back to try the food next time!

Raina S.

Yelp
If you have a gluten free allergy please be cautious while ordering! I placed a to-go order over the phone after asking about the different gluten free options. I ordered a gf bolognese, and asked if they were able to make a gluten free spaghetti with meatballs. They said that it wasn't on the menu, but they could happily do that. When I got my order, they had the charge written up as 1 Garganelli - $20.50 gluten free $2 (which was expected!) and then add three meatballs for $8. That in itself seemed off because while it wasn't on the menu, charging $28.50 for regular sauce and three meatballs seemed to be a bit overpriced. Especially considering the bolognese was $21.50. While strange, we happily paid. However, where it went wrong for us was when the server said that they packed the meatballs separately because they are not gluten free. On the phone we specifically discussed gluten free options with the person taking our order, so we figured that they would be gluten free or that they would tell us that the meatballs were gluten free. When serving people with a need for gluten free options and when you have such a large selection of gluten free options on your menu, your servers need to be able to make that connection. Especially if the whole order is gluten free.

Yelp
The food and service were fantastic! I loved everything except for the bruschetta, which I would've preferred more basil with a thicker baguette. My tagliolini scampi was cooked perfectly with al dente pasta, refreshing lemon cream, and capers. The California pizza had a nice crust that supported the load of chicken, avocados, feta, and tomato, and the cilantro made the pizza somehow refreshing and not too heavy. The tiramisu is one of the best I've had in town! The lady finger to cream ratio was *chef's kiss*. There were a good variety of families, groups, couples on dates. Overall a solid spot to return to when I'm craving Italian with freshly made pasta!
google avatar

Mel W.

Yelp
Had a fun, fresh and beautiful time at the restaurant! They were very accommodating to our large group of 16 people, of course we had a reservation in place too. We had no issues, all of us ordered various items and they were top-notch in presentation and taste. A few in our group said it was the best gluten free pasta they ever have had! Each dish was succulent, flavorful, and delicately prepared within each bite we experienced. Very enjoyable and we will return when we come back to the Dallas area.

Yelp
First time being here and it was great! The service was amazing! Our waitress was so kind and caring. It was super busy but that didn't effect drinks or food at all. The food was freaking amazing and we are sooo excited to try dinner because brunch awesome. The ambiance was casual or classy just depends how you want to dress it up or down.

Kate B.

Yelp
We showed up early for our reservation and they were super accommodating. Food quality was fantastic as always. Service was great.

Antony M.

Yelp
Overall mediocre, overpriced, and poor service. Got the ravioli maremmani for $22, and it was probably the most disappointing and pathetic "meal" I've ever gotten at a restaurant. Four slabs of lukewarm ravioli with absolutely zero effort in presentation, tasted like they were just reheated in a microwave with a texture akin to rubber. My waiter wasn't outright rude, but just blunt and rushed. The environment is also nothing to speak of, being way too packed with tables and uncomfortably loud as a result. Save your time, money, and disappointment, and find another place to eat.

Nicky M.

Yelp
We always have a fantastic evening here! Dinner is always amazing, everyone is always welcoming and friendly and of course when you walk in the door Johnny greets you like family!
google avatar

Debbie G.

Yelp
The service was excellent! Sidney (male) was our server & he saw to our every need! He made good selections regarding the menu. I had veal Parmesan with spaghetti. Delicious, my friend ordered gnocchi which she enjoyed very much! Good selections of wines! Thoroughly enjoyed our meal! Oh & we sat outside! So nice!
google avatar

Katherine M.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday with no reservations and got seated within 30 minutes. The mimosa and bellini deal for brunch is dangerous! Our server was so friendly. It was a bit loud and the food was missing a bit of seasoning.
google avatar

Alexandra R.

Yelp
The server was absolutely amazing! They made our dining experience so special. We ordered the Caesar salad, taverna burger, wine, and tiramisu. Everything was so delicious and filling, it was like the restaurant was cooking right for us. And the weather was perfect, the ambiance was so inviting, it was just a great night out.
google avatar

Elijah L.

Yelp
Visited Taverna for brunch with a girlfriend - neither impressed or dissatisfied. The mimosas were cheap - but not that tasty. I would recommend getting the Bellini instead of the mimosa. Food was fast and tasty! We got a few snacks for our meal, and that was the best way possible. The pizzas didn't look appetizing, so we steered away from those. Overall, I would return for brunch for a good, budget friendly brunch!

Scott S.

Yelp
A really nice Italian restaurant in a great location! They had a wonderful menu and great ambience (A)

Yelp
y'all. this place blew my expectations out of the water. it was such a beautiful place, the waiter was so kind, and everything we ordered was delicious. i would definitely come back here next time we're in town.
google avatar

Aryelle S.

Yelp
This place is always super packed. We had reservations and still waited. The service was slow but my rating is not based off of that as they may have been short staffed. I honestly need to try this place again just to give a second opinion. The moz and tomato salad was very good. I also like that they accommodate gluten free people. I ordered this pasta below but I forget the name. Anyways, it was super garlicky and the noodles did not taste very well.
google avatar

Dez V.

Yelp
My steak was great! Ordered medium well, it seemed a little medium to me. The truffle mashed potatoes tasted great. My friend ordered some pasta and it was a little bland. Food came out fast. Service was good. Loved the ambiance. Very busy place. We came for Sunday fun day. Fun place.
google avatar

Shivani M.

Yelp
The ambiance in the outdoor seating is amazing, especially when the weather is nice! The lunch service was quick and friendly we were seated immediately. There are a decent amount of vegetarian options. I chose the pasta with gorgonzola and pear as well as the burrata pizza. The pasta was SO good i loved the touch with the nuts in it. The sauce is creamy and very filling. The pizza was great too and the crust was nice with the olive oil on it. Overall I love this location and can't wait to come again for dinner!
google avatar

Noah C.

Yelp
Great service and wonderful food. Was very nice sitting on their patio enjoying the nice weather. The focaccia they serve is unique and tasty. I enjoyed the pollo alla piastra. The cacio e Pepe needed alot more Pepe though. Drinks were great and service was excellent.
google avatar

Celeste M.

Yelp
Met up with friends for brunch and would absolutely recommend this spot as a top choice. They have $3 mimosas and Bellinis and fill them up to the very top. The food was delicious! I had the omelet, my fiends had the pizza and lasagna, and everyone said they really enjoyed their meals. The waitstaff was very attentive and we didn't feel rushed to leave our table. I would recommend calling for a reservation as you might have to wait for a table since this place is very popular.

Yelp
Can you say "treat-yo-self day"?? I ordered more than I originally planned on eating but it's been a stressful week so why not? :) My husband had a lunch meeting with an old client so I decided to tag along and just sit on my own. The restaurant is super cute and gives off a classy / cozy vibe, but with plenty of space to move around. When the weather is nice out, they open the roof up above a whole section of seating; it was cold today so I'll have to come back to check it out when it's warmer. For starters I ordered a house salad. Since I would be ordering pizza, I wanted a little balance. The salad was good and the dressing was nice. For lunch I ordered the Salsiccia Pizza. It was delicious with just the perfect amount of sweet added by the caramelized onions. For dessert (because I mean, it's Friday and why not??) I ordered the tiramisu. It was absolutely heavenly - so creamy with just the right amount of ladyfingers. I will be ordering that again for sure. Last but not least, the servers are super attentive and friendly. Perfect for a date day, a work lunch or a place to come on your own - come check it out, you'll be treated just right!

Yelp
I'm a really big fan of Taverna and was so sad to see the downtown Fort Worth location close. Lucky for me the Dallas location isn't too terribly far away, especially for a special occasion, so me and Jon and Winnie had a late lunch here to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We came in around 3:30 PM on a Monday after Winnie's nap and it was actually pretty busy (they take reservations, so consider it). The patio and bar were both full and it's a pretty little restaurant, but very cozy. We started with the gluten free focaccia which I believe is essentially a gluten free pizza crust covered in garlic and parmesan and rosemary. Soooo delicious! It's kinda hard to dip the pizza slices into the olive oil and balsamic vinegar because the oil/vinegar can't really absorb into the pizza, it just sort of rolls off the top. But still so good and Winnie loved it the most. For our entrees I had the burrata risotto (carnaroli rice with burrata, roasted heirloom cherry tomatoes, basil, and crispy prosciutto) while Jon had the gnocchi (gnocchi with braised short ribs ragu and shaved parmesan). The smell of the dishes alone made us so happy. My risotto was incredibly creamy and well-seasoned. The bursts of cherry tomato were my favorite part. I think the risotto was the tiniest bit undercooked but that didn't stop us from devouring it. Jon's gnocchi was meaty and fragrant and beautiful! We had to get a bottle of wine and dessert for our anniversary, so we went with the "Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre, Veneto," an Italian red for $48. We don't know that much about wine but it was lovely. Then we had the creme brulee and strawberry sorbet. The sorbet was the only thing we were disappointed in; it was super icy and almost chalky, breaking apart into crumbles when you tried to get a spoonful. Other than the subpar sorbet, our Taverna trip was super enjoyable and our waiter was so kind.

Yelp
Food and service were great! My dish could have had a little more spiciness (like a Fra Diablo) but overall food was great! Avocado toast is amazing, best we've had any where else. We love Toulouse and Taverna didn't disappoint! Will come again soon!

Yelp
This spot offers quality Italian food in a nice neighborhood environment. Plenty of outdoor seating and the patio is dog friends + has plenty of heaters. Staff was knowledgeable not only on the menu but on the wine list as well. We started with the Taverna Focaccia, Beet Salad, and the Fritto Misto. All three were fantastic, fresh beets were great and the focaccia was sort of like a pizza with delicious pickled onions and shaved Parmesan on top. For entrees, my wife and I split the spaghetti carbonara and the filetto di manzo, which was a filet over truffle mashed potatoes served with carrots, asparagus and a Chianti wine sauce. I got medium rare and it was cooked to perfection and the truffle mashed potatoes were insanely good. The carbonara was solid, not out of this world but a good dish.

Yelp
Taverna is a really nice location aesthetically. I just was distracted by the service. It took over 15 mins to get a waiter but afterwards it got better. The food was good. I wasn't blown away by my cacio Pepe but everyone else at my table loved their dishes. In particular, they really loved the gnocchi and the sea bass. I would say we spent 30$ a person, which is good for high quality Italian. Maybe I would try taverna again but during a less busier time.

Yelp
Great establishment great service but the Focaccia was awful ... pizza dough is not focaccia taverna!' Do better
