​If you are looking for a dining destination in Melbourne that consistently delivers on both atmosphere and authentic flavor, Taverna is an absolute standout. We recently visited with a group of seven, and the experience was nothing short of impressive from start to finish. Greek cuisine is at its best when it is a communal experience, and Taverna captures this spirit perfectly. ​We opted for the sharing meze, which I cannot recommend highly enough. It is the perfect way to navigate the menu, allowing everyone at the table to sample a vast array of textures and traditional flavors. Every plate that arrived was a testament to fresh ingredients and expert preparation. From the creamy dips to the perfectly seasoned appetizers, there wasn't a single "miss" in the lineup. ​The transition from the smaller plates to the main courses was seamless. While we were so eager to dive into the food that we completely forgot to snap a photo of the mains, the flavors are etched in my memory. The chicken dish, in particular, was next level. It was succulent, deeply aromatic, and possessed a unique flavor profile that I am still thinking about days later. It is a definitive "must-try" for anyone visiting. Between the generous portions, the vibrant atmosphere, and the top-tier service, Taverna has earned a spot as one of my favorite Greek spots in the city.

This place is a hidden gem! Its very fancy and nice inside, very posh The food was top tier. Delicious, fresh and full of flavour. Very busy and packed on a Satursday night, glad we had a booking Staff were friendly and helpful. Top range of wine available. We loved it and will be back. Shout out to the fresh bread, melted in our mouths

We came here for dinner and had a wonderful experience. The service was amazing and the staff were well versed on the menu. We shared four mains between 7 people which was perfect. We all thought the bread and was especially delicious. There was no wait for a table on a Thursday night.

We had an amazing time there! All the food was amazing. My favorite was the garlic bread and whipped cod roe. My partner’s favorite was the white bait. Service was also 10/10. Was surprised by how quickly the food came out. Staff were also super hospitable, especially David, he explained the menu well and made sure we were taken care of throughout the night. Super appreciative of the complimentary greens (since we only ordered meat and carbs), very thoughtful 💕 Have to agree with my partner “this could be our new favorite spot in Brunswick”. Would definitely return :)))

I live up the block from Taverna and I’ve been meaning to go here since they opened. Tonight was the night and I can’t rave more highly about this awesome family-style casual Greek joint. Taverna is hospitality personified. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a place more warm and welcoming. We did the $60 set menu which was incredible value and beyond delicious. We also chose a whole baby snapper which was grilled on hot coals and melted in your mouth. Taverna is one of the best front of house experiences I’ve ever had, and I’ve been everywhere. I’m excited to say that this is my new local and I’ll be coming here for dinner at least once a week

Taverna is an absolute gem of a restaurant! The lamb was incredibly succulent and perfectly cooked—truly one of the best meals we've had in Melbourne. The moussaka was amazing, with perfectly baked layers and plenty of flavorful meat. Even the fried potato wedges, a simple dish, were perfectly done and delicious. The pickled octopus was tender, juicy, and full of flavor—not too tough—and paired wonderfully with the fava bean paste and olive bread. The meal overall was outstanding, and the wine selection complemented everything beautifully. What really stood out was the unpretentious, home-cooked feel of the food. It was authentic and full of heart, something rare to find. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a genuine and delicious dining experience!

We had a lovely night out at TAVERNA. All of the food we had was absolutely delicious. The dips were so flavourful. We also had the dolmades (YUM!), chicken grill, Greek salad and potato chips. All the food was great and the plates are designed to share. We had more than enough. The service was wonderful - all of the staff were very friendly and hospitable. The atmosphere is so welcoming too. We will definitely be back!

Good traditional Greek food experience. Owners were so lovely to accommodate 5 of us for a late visit. They promote local businesses not only with the produce but also the crockery. Some beautiful handmade plates to support "hope". Well, lamb was great, fava bean dip and the capsicum dip was good. Have to say....bread should come with the dips.. The fried Whitebait was decent and so was the sausage and leek. They have a good variety of Reds....and the waiting staff helped deciding which one went well with our appetizers. It was a good night out !! Thank you Taverna.
