Had a nice experience here. We were sat at what I think was called the chefs bar on the right most side, where we could see the chefs making all of the food. I feel like I got to see essentially the entire menu being made and presented. Most of the pictures are of what other people had ordered. The staff seemed hard working and efficient and they seemed to be having a good time as well. As for the food, everything we ordered was very good and reasonably priced. My favorite was the duck fusilli. It was very unique, never had anything quite like it before. I really liked all the different flavors being combined together. The Brussels sprouts, focaccia bread and ragu pappardelle were very good as well. Only negative was the wait. The bread and appetizer came out quickly but there was a very long delay for the entrees. Because of where we were sitting, it wasn't a big deal as we were entertained by the stream of food being made, but I think if we had been sitting elsewhere, it would have been a noticeable downside.

We had a great experience dining here! All of the food was absolutely delicious. The autumn pasta was to die for, I’ll have to come back just for that specifically. Our server was very attentive and kind. We came for my birthday and she brought out a slice of cake with a candle. Perfect evening!

Perfect if you love seafood/mussels! Sat at the bar when I went on my first visit and had wonderful service from Bri! Made for a perfect experience, and it was an easy decision to add Tavola to our date night dinner rotation.

Went out randomly on a Tuesday night, and my wife and i were able to get a table on RESY, an hour later at the chefs bar, we got there early, and they got us a seat in the cocktail lounge until our seats were ready! I originally wanted something else, but I gravitated to the meatballs. After the recommendation, and i couldn't believe how amazing they were! The tiramisu was out of this world amazing !!!! The staff the entire time was amazing! Overall, it was an amazing experience! I advise anyone looking for great staff, great food, and amazing atmosphere to give this place a try !!!

Our first visit to this authentic neighborhood Italian restaurant. Enter via side gangway. We tried to get reservations the day prior for a last minute birthday trip to C-Ville, but was told we could arrive and might be able to get seating at the bar with 15-20 minutes. We arrived on a Saturday night a little before 6pm and did not have to wait for bar seating. There are a few very tiny round tables in bar area a couple of which had 3 patrons ( I would not be able to eat with 2 others at that table, maybe they were only having appetizers?). Our bar seats were fine (chairs had backs) and servers were very friendly and made helpful recommendations. I had the carbonara which was the best I have ever tasted (I make my own and this was even better!)...house made sausage as well as the pancetta, just the right amount of pepper and cheese. Companion had the papperdelle which (I sampled) was very good too. Server said these two items are the most popular. Nice selection of wines and craft cocktails. We also indulged and ordered the hazelnut tart (sweet without being overly sweet and perfect flaky crust) and the pecial apple cider bread pudding which was outstanding! Would definitely recommend this restaurant, I now understand the reason reservations are usually booked up!

It's my first time eating here, and the food is fantastic! I had the beet salad with deep-fried mozzarella ball, then a shrimp and pasta dish finished with the Chocolate Lava cake. The servers were very friendly, we had a group of 5, and everything came out quickly and hot! Great for date nights and business dinners. 5/29: Food is still excellent! Clean plate club!

My husband and I had a Saturday 5pm reservation to celebrate our anniversary. I had read some revies beforehand so knew to expect to wait in a line in the alleyway before 5pm. However I was definitely a little shocked at how narrow and gross the alleyway was - if you're going to have your guests wait there, at least spruce it up and cap some of the condensation drains coming down from the roof! Also, logistically it made no sense to have everyone line up before 5 - any normal restaurant would be glad to have a bit of a stagger between 5pm reservation seatings. I was watching our poor waitress run around like a chicken with her head cut off to get drinks and apps to her 4 tables, which would have easily been avoided if they just sat us a few minutes apart (upon arrival). You can also tell it's just to incur some sort of feeling of exclusivity and not for logistics sake. That being said, the food was DELICIOUS. Highly suggest the fried artichokes. The autumnal orichette was delicious but my husband thought the carbonara was a little salty - probably a personal taste. Food was fairly priced, drinks were on the pricier side but definitely worth it for a date night or special night out. The inside of the restaurant was intimate, tables are spaced far enough away from each other that you don't have to hear your neighbors conversation, and the atmosphere was quite nice for an early Saturday meal - I imagine it gets moodier as the night goes on as well. Our server was very sweet and accommodating (I'm pregnant so she brought us two complimentary flutes of "champagne" except mine had ginger ale - very nice!) and we were in and out in about and hour and 45 minutes.

Tavola was everything we hoped for and then some. Tucked into the charming Belmont neighborhood. From the first bite, you can taste the difference: every dish is made in-house, from scratch, and it shows. The pasta was perfectly tender, the sauces rich and layered, and the flavors felt like they were crafted with real care. Hands down, one of our top dining experiences in Charlottesville. Can’t wait to go back.

This is one of those places that's tucked in as a hidden gem. Tavola was absolutely one of the best restaurants I've ever been to in terms of service, ambiance, and quality of food. The Belmont area is hidden behind the downtown cville area but has some of the greatest food options in cville! We started off with a house salad, but my party had entrees such as the salmon and the gnocchi. Salmon was cooked perfectly and the gnocchi tasted like it was straight from Italy. All plates were wiped clean with a final dessert of tiramisu or affogato. Highly highly recommend.

We had a wonderful meal with friends here...perfectly prepared meal(who would' have ever thought of a cold blueberry/carrott soup-it was devine). The service was prompt, friendly but never overbearing, they are training the young waitstaff well. Yesterday, Tavola became one of my favorite restaurants on the planet. In fact, if I could have one last meal on earth, I would eat exactly what I ordered last night - trio di bruschetta, caramelle "fatto a mano," and hazelnut tart. This has been the most perfect and balanced meal I can remember having in a while (and I eat out a lot). All ingredients tasted incredibly fresh and the flavor profiles a masterpiece. Kudos to the staff and chef who made this dinner memorable. I can't wait to be back in Charlottesville and sit at the chefs counter at Tavola.

I ADORE Tavola! It's one of the nicer restaurants in town and definitely can be a little heavier on the wallet, especially if you get their delicious cocktails, but it is so so so worth it! Their eggplant Parmesan is so deliciously cheesy while also being crispy on the edges and perfectly pan fried, seriously I wish I could eat it every day. Have been a few other times and tried other pastas which have been good but I keep coming back to the eggplant!

Somehow I've managed to live in Charlottesville for three years without making it here - so glad I finally got to try it! The restaurant is tiny, so reservations are a hit hard to come by. At the time I made the reservation the only option was the chef's table which is essentially bar seating but in the area where food is being prepared. It was cool to see the different dishes be plated and having the chefs chat with us, but would definitely recommend a regular table for a more intimate experience. Now onto the food and drinks! I'm currently pregnant so always appreciate a good mocktail selection. Here you can basically tell the bartender what flavor profile you want and they will come up with a mocktail for you, which I loved. The wine list looked excellent for the next time I come back. For food we ordered the scallop risotto and the shrimp pasta. Both came out perfectly and were super fresh and not too heavy, which was great because we knew we wanted to also get dessert. I got the tiramisu and it was the best I've had outside Italy. My husband ordered the gelato and an espresso and enjoyed both as well. This is definitely a spot that deserves to be a part of our date night rotation - we will definitely be back!

Bad contamination. Don't eat here if you have any food allergies. A friends child had an anaphylactic reaction bc the server claimed they don't have tree nuts. This is completely irresponsible.

Amazing Italian restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by the meal here. Reservations definitely needed. My main knock is that we had a reservation and weren't seated for over 15 minutes past the time (we had a late reservation). When in the main dining room at peak hour it is loud, so can be hard to hear your party if you're not very close to each other at the table. The food is stellar - lots of options and nothing disappointed. I was a big fan of the fried artichoke and burrata appetizers. The pappardellep was very wide cut which I loved! Specials menu has great seasonal items and constantly changes.

The homemade pasta is everything you would expect and more. The service is impeccable as the staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and wines! The restaurant in a while had an amazing vibe that just made you feel welcome.

OK overpriced entrees. Average tasting, small and predictable beet/arugla/fried goat cheese salad. Brother can you spare some bread with that. Two cocktails - a gimlet and cosmo that were like flavored fruit juice. Not sure if bartender forgot the alcohol ? Service very average but they include a 20% tip even for tables of 2, so I guess they don't need to do too much but fraternize with each other, take the order and deliver the food. Honestly, Yelp is usually pretty dependable when a restaurant has this many stars. But I would not recommend this restaurant.

We have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally pulled the trigger on my birthday. There are not a lot of choices for good Italian food, around and this one really hit the spot. It definitely hit the spot but for all the hype around it, I did expect it to be a little better than it was. Having an Italian waiter did boost it to 4 stars.

Service, drinks, and food are 5 stars! My coworker and I recently popped in after work (without a reservation) and sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and recommended a tasty white wine for me. Highly recommend.

Truly truly stunning Italian in Charlottesville!! We didn't have a reservation (but I do recommend one), so we walked in to their bar which serves the whole menu and had a wonderful time. The ambiance was so nice, and the crowd was fun! We got the burrata crostini, Bucatini (vegetarian), eggplant parm, and tiramisu. We were STUFFED but we were so content! The service was amazing - I accidentally ordered the bruschetta without asking if it was vegetarian (and it wasn't) so I apologized profusely and the waiter recommended the burrata and didn't even charge us for the bruschetta when they had every right to!! The pasta is freshly made, the tiramisu was some of the best we've had in a long time, and the eggplant parm and crostini were so well balanced and yummy. I can't recommend this place enough - it's a must if you're in the area!

I loved their pasta. The bolognese was really good. It's not heavy on the tomato which I appreciated. The seafood pasta was really good too, but it is a little salty. We also tried the homemade almond and blackberry gelato. It was soo good. The staff was amazing. Our waitress was great and really accommodating. I can't wait to come back and try more.

Bless this lovely farm to table Italian restaurant for taking care of us even though we rolled in post hike, in dirt caked boots. We sat down and were immediately ensconced by the wait staff bringing us menus and water. My friend recommended their pasta and bruschetta trio and praised them for having a seasonal menu using the freshest ingredients. We settled in comfortably, delighting in the relaxed ambiance. Our Bruschettas came in a trio, each with starkly different toppings. I had the tuna one, each bite an explosion of flavor. My Carbonara pasta had the same powerful flavor. The pasta was perfectly coooked, the cheese generously added, and the pancetta gave it a hint of smokiness. The dish was perfectly, and the portion was just the right amount. I also had a bite of my friend's gnocchi and it was amazing! I usually hate gnocchi because it tends to be chewy, dense, and heavy. This gnocchi was soft, pillowy, almost marshmallow-like, and the kale in it imparted a fresh flavor. Come for authentic Italian food that will linger in your memory!

Really exceptional dining experience that has become a birthday tradition for my wife and I. We live outside of DC and travel down to Charlottesville almost every year now. This year did not disappoint. To start, my wife and I remembered having a wine from our previous visit, about a year ago, but couldn't find it on the menu. We found my photos of last year's visit on my phone, but they had stopped carrying this particular wine based on the wine list. And then - our server surprised us! She saw us looking at the photo and talking about the wine and went into the back and found it for us. It was just as excellent as we remembered, and even better because she went above and beyond to find it for us without us even asking! I'm usually not a Pesto fan, but the pesto on the burrata starter plate was probably my favorite I've ever had. We also both shared the Bucatini Americano and the Bolognese. Both are excellent, but the Bucatini is by far our favorite dish on the menu. Tavola is one of many great restaurants in the Charlottesville food scene. I only wish we had an excellent Italian place like this up in NoVa.

It's a great place with great food. One thing to consider - if you're used to eating Italian food in Italy, please do not expect the same here. I would describe Tavola as a decent place for Americanized Italian food. Service is good, and the vibe in their larger room is really family-like, created by a long dining table. From disadvantages, I think it's a bit overpriced.

Wow, the seared scallops over a beet risotto at tavola is one of the best meals that I've had in awhile. The scallops were cooked perfectly and had a very pleasant crust and sprinkling of salt on top. The beet risotto was rich and savory and the fresh herbs were a nice touch. The capellini frutti di mare "fra diavolo" pasta dish was very much on par. I loved the spicy chili oil that was drizzled on top - it brought out the flavors! The pieces of seafood were large and the thin pasta noodles went well with the sauce even though I don't usually prefer thinner pasta. All in all it was an incredible meal, from the food to the service and the ambience. I'll try one of their pasta dishes next time! The service and atmosphere was great, we even received complimentary Prosecco since it was our anniversary dinner!

The BEST pasta I have ever had- and im not even a pasta person! Though it's incredibly difficult to get reservations, we lucked out with the early bird special and got seated at 5pm. The pancetta wrapped shrimp was charred to perfection. My squid ink pasta special with crab meat and sausage was incredible! And of course, classic carbonara did not disappoint. Service was on point, too. Great recs!

Great experience and amazing food! Definitely recommend for a date night! We got the carbonara and the ricotta gnocchi cacio e pepe. Both were fantastic! We also got the pancetta-wrapped shrimp with arugula and balsamic. So good! Great wine selection and their mocktails are delicious. Ended the night with amazing tiramisu! Their reservations fill up quick so you need to plan ahead.

Nice ambiance and great service. Price a little high for a pizza but they were a homemade and good ingredients. Many good selections of drinks.

This is one of our favorite places in Charlottesville usually. The staff is usually very nice and well trained. The atmosphere is warm and bustling. And, the food, our favorite part, is usually perfect. This time, the staff and the ambiance were great still but the food was lacking. The mussels used to come to the table, sizzling and freshly prepared. This time, they were borderline room temp. Bread served with it wasn't warm and toasty but just sliced. My bolognese was not the usual bolognese but just a few large chunks of pork and the serving was 1/3 smaller than usual. The carbonara and the beet risotto were tasty but the fish special did not taste fresh. Ice creams were very good.

I'm a pasta lover so I was SO excited to try out this restaurant. I found it to be a bit overrated. The food, wine, and service were good. The noodles definitely tasted homemade and the sauce was yummy. However, the portions were pretty small and I wasn't wowed by anything. Disappointing and wishing I didn't hype it up in my head so much. Worth trying but we preferred Vivace's pasta, so we'll probably go back there next time. P.S. sorry for the blurry photos

So disappointed...booked a trip to Charlottesville to celebrate our wedding anniversary and booked a table at Tavola, we had eaten there years ago and it was lovely. I made a reservation about a month in advance and mentioned it was a big anniversary and that we'd love a special table if possible. Fast forward to our dinner, we're seated in the bar where it's so loud that I had to play charades with the waitress to get a straw. Then they brought my husband's meal out first so it got cold while we waited for my meal. We didn't even bother staying for dessert, couldn't wait to get out of the loud bar. It was hot as heck in there too, even with the window cracked. Happy anniversary to us! Food was decent but people should know what they're getting, I'm sure the people in the main dining room who didn't get a bait and switch had a better experience.

This was the best dining experience we've had after 3 weeks of trying local restaurants (we are new to the area). The patio is open for walk-ins so we were able to decide to go last-minute. Our waitress knew the menu and was super attentive. It makes a *huge* difference when the staff expresses excitement about your order; small touches like this are what elevated this dining experience above the rest. Started with the tinto rose (refreshing, bright, dry with a hint of sweetness) and one of the specials, an heirloom tomato stuffed with other tomatoes and buttermilk. Cool presentation where they smother it in delicious basil sauce at the table. This dish was beautiful! We probably should have ordered some bread to soak up the sauce. We then tried the bucatini all'Amatriciana and the carbonara. Both pastas were homemade, perfect texture, and great flavor. Limoncello cheesecake was a great way to end the meal. Not too sweet, great flavor. The amaretti crust was really unique, loved the sweet almond flavor and still felt light. Overall, one of the few places we've been locally that clearly cares about the quality of food and service, and it shows.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We were at Keswick Hall for a quick weekend getaway, and recommended to come here by the hotel staff. Managed to snag a last minute seat at the Chef's bar. Being foodies originally from NY and done decent amount of international travel, we've had our good share of good food. This has to be one of the best Italian meals we've had! Every dish is beautifully presented, amazing texture, and full of flavor. Talk about flavor bomb! We licked every single plate clean. Pricing was very reasonable. Too bad we live 5 hours away. Can't wait to travel through this area in the future so we eat here again.

Excellent service from Kasey our waitress, delicious food and excellent cocktails. Perfect place to celebrate an anniversary. Cute and warm ambiance that makes you want to hang out and stay awhile.

Really good food and lively atmosphere. Was there on a Saturday night, 8:45pm reservation and it was packed the whole time we were there. Great old school cocktail menu, highlighted by the Rob Roy. Was a memorable meal.

I don't like to pick favorites, but for Tavola I will. This fantastic space in the quaint and cute Belmont community will leave you wanting more after every visit! Everything on the menu is delicious and well priced. The service and staff are accommodating and well rehearsed on favorites and pairings! As I stated, everything on the menu is fantastic and if have a chance to order a special go for it! I highly recommend getting a reservation as this is a favorite among many in Charlottesville!

Decided to treat myself to a dinner here and did not disappoint! I got the gnocchi as my entrée and it was absolutely incredible. The flavors were strong and the texture was so pillowy and delicious! My waiter was great with helping me decide on a glass of wine and even gave me little bits to sample before deciding on a glass. I sat at the Chefs bar and it was great for a solo dinner and pretty cool to get to see the flow of the kitchen and the prep of plates. I ended with their tiramisu and of course, it was delicious. Overall I recommend Tavola for either a night for just yourself or a date night!

Came here for a birthday meal. It's in Belmont so parking is always a challenge and we often course came on a very rainy night. It's a popular restaurant so it is definitely on the noisier side. We were off a bit in the corner which did help this a lot. Our server was wonderful. Very attentive service. My only complaint sadly was the food. The beet salad was delicious but my carbonara pasta was so peppery I really couldn't taste anything. Otherwise it was a good experience!

Girls night out here! The food, the service and vibes were 10/10! I had no qualms with anything!

To witness so much initial admiration and excitement for this restaurant become so quickly perverted and twisted by the disrespect and hostility we encountered that night is so disheartening. I came here for dinner for the first time with friends for a holiday reunion after hearing so many fond memories of their previous dinner experience at Tavola. We arrived promptly at 5pm for dinner service and were welcomed with enthusiasm and pleasantries and started our meal off well with cocktails and appetizers. Our waiter was kind enough to also ensure our order was tree nut free due to my allergy. Unfortunately, this is where any kindness or understanding ended. We did not receive our entrees until after 2 hours of waiting. We did not receive a proper explanation or apology. We did not receive an ounce of respect when trying to voice our complaints to both our waiter, Dallas, and the owner Michael. Instead we were met with jarring hostility by both Dallas and Michael. Dallas was dismissive of my friends complaints, taking our upset as personal attacks on his character when we were only just trying to hear a clear explanation. Michael refused to properly listen or attempt to understand our perspectives, and instead chose to talk over us and ignore the issue at hand, saying things like "but at least you have your food now" and didn't even introduce themself as the owner until we had to ask several times for them to even give us a name. Defending their actions and service style is fine but there was no reason to ever diminish or ignore our perspectives. We were offered weak excuses for slow service: first that our ticket was last to be fired even though we were one of the first parties in the restaurant, second they claimed they needed to wait for our appetizers to be cleared before firing our entrees when we were clearly done and waiting, having even stacked our dishes to help with the process of clearing them away. We could clearly see several tables who arrived later than us, including a party of 8+, getting served their whole meal, paying and leaving as we continued to wait. All we wanted was a genuine apology and acknowledgment of why we were upset and to see them take ownership and responsibility of the miscommunication rather than be talked down to and offered free dessert as if we were children. Whatever miscommunication that occurred either in the kitchen or about how they run their service could have been clarified and should have been acknowledged immediately rather than dancing around the issue. Only now after a day of our complaints on yelp did Michael acknowledge it to be an "internal miscommunication". To be talked to in such a demeaning and offensive manner shocked us considering how well the night had started. Both Dallas and Michael claimed their years of experience in the industry to justify their behavior and actions. I am sure the staff at Tavola work hard at their craft, as we all do in our respective fields, and I understand the hardships and stress of working in the industry as a former barista, but to me it seems they still need several decades more experience if this is how they chose to "professionally" handle our situation. No amount of success nor experience nor age nor ethnicity should ever excuse someone from simple human decency. We deserved better. I hope they learn from this and understand that even if they did not intend it, their behavior and the manner by which Michael and Dallas chose to handle situation placed some of the only minorities in the room in what felt like a hostile and alienating environment, one where we did not feel safe nor comfortable. Tavola clearly has an unfortunate and almost decade long history of prejudice it has failed to acknowledge or address in its service to POC. Please see reviews by yelpers of color like Jing L. (8 years ago), Harris W. (8 years ago) Dominique J. (4 years ago), and the many recent reviews. Having gone through a similar experience as a UVa student years ago, I truly truly hoped to see some growth in Cville as an alum. P.S. To the owner, Michael, I'll do you the favor of copy and pasting your empty words for you, so please take that time instead to reflect and try to realize the effect this night had on me and my friends. "Please accept our apology for the delay of your entrees as a result of an internal miscommunication around your desired dining pace. We believe what we do at tavola is an enjoyable, quality experience, and when we make mistakes we engage, listen, and strive to have a constructive dialogue. In this particular situation, we were met with anger and accusations that we take very seriously. Discrimination of, or by anyone, is not tolerated at this restaurant. This was an honest mistake, with no intention other than to allow you time to enjoy your evening."

Tavola gets a ton of hype in charlottesville and I'm not sure why... maybe lack of options. Ordered the carbonara and it was well below average. Way too much pepper, the pork was undercooked and the flavor was just off. Other dishes were hit or miss and tended to be very under seasoned Service was slow to serve food, but then once we had our food, the servers tried to clear dishes before half of our party was done eating.

Had my first experience out on their patio last week and it was lovely. The weather cooperates and the service was just as excellent as it is inside. We started with the artichokes as an appetizer and they were delectable, a perfect crunch while still maintaining the soft warmth of a cooked artichoke. I ordered the special, which was a seasonal ravioli with summer corn and it was wonderful. Truly, the perfect portion to feel sated and not overly full. For dessert I split the limoncello cheesecake with my friends and this is the only thing I was a bit disappointed in. It is not very lemon forward and tasted more like a regular cheesecake, underwhelming. Overall though, it's an amazing restaurant and I was so glad to stop in for dinner on my visit back to CVille.

Great food. The dishes of the evening included the house salad, beet salad, eggplant parmigian, and shrimp Cipollini all were well prepared, fresh, light, healthy and delicious. The wine recommendation for the entrees was well pared and good. Dessert was the traditional tiramisu which was well done and easily enjoyed.

Came here on a date. Made reservations online in advanced and was seated at the front of the restaurant. It was my first time visiting Belmont and I was surprised that the restaurant was full even at 8 pm on a Tuesday. The ambiance at the front was really nice and the food tasted amazing. We ordered the Burrata Appetizer, Sauvignon Blanc, Branzino Alla Grigalia (Grilled Mediterranean Sea Bass), Gnocchi Di Patate Con Granchio (Potato Gnocchi with Crab), and Tiramisu. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. I always see Burrata on my Pinterest feed but I had never tried it until visiting Tavola. The appetizer was a fun and delicious antipasto that I would definitely order again. Also, the seafood entrees tasted amazing with the sauv blanc. Overall, the prices at Tavola are on the high end; however, the amazing food and ambiance make it well worth it.

We went to dinner tonight at Tavola, while visiting Charlottesville for our 10 year anniversary. It was the best meal we have had in a long time. We made a reservation (which I highly recommend) and arrived to a line waiting for the restaurant to open. Noah was our waiter and expressed great customer service throughout our meal. We ordered the burrata appetizer, with a glass of wine and the watermelon spritz. We then ordered the bolognese and I had the pasta special, gnocchi with crab and mushrooms- all were flavorful and fresh. We then ordered dessert with the tiramisu and lemon bar special, also phenomenal. The flavor, atmosphere and flow of the meal were perfect! We highly recommend!

Had such a wonderful evening at Tavola on Friday. Reservations are needed in advance, and for good reason because the food is amazing. We started off with the "Sundown" and the seasonal bourbon cocktail, both of which were wonderful, and the burrata appetizer. The burrata, accompanied by delicious pesto and sun dried tomatoes, was so fresh and was some of the best we've had. We both got the bucatini as our main, which was a very reasonable portion and was fantastic. I was a little nervous for the spice level due to the chili oil, but it was actually perfect with just a lot of flavor and the tiniest hint of heat. Service was also wonderful, never a water glass half empty and great explanations of all the dishes. We will be back!

Oh boy where do I start with the hostility of Dallas and he say that black people dont tip... "watch them they dont tip" he say to his fellow waitress who smirked at us and she was not the best. So then the food is ok expensive and the shrimp was tough and maybe not so fresh, i left a few pieces. The rest was good food but Michael is a nasty man he dont like color of people if you know what I mean. You can see it in his eyes lordy!

If someone asks me my favorite restaurants in Charlottesville, Tavola always gets a mention. You'll find excellent cocktails at the bar, which traces its pedigree from Alley Light to other talents who have left their mark. The pasta is classic, atmosphere in the main dining room is close and energetic (but you can find intimacy), and the service is impeccable. When in doubt, always order the artichokes or burrata.

Really enjoyed our dinner here, best Italian we have had in Charlottesville. Ambiance was perfect, not too loud and and service was also top notch. Can't go wrong with homemade pasta and tiramisu!

This is hands down the best Italian food we've had in America. My husband and I were visiting Charlottesville, and based on many reviews, knew we had to check this place out. We heard many great things about the food in Charlottesville in general, but up until our visit to Tavola we were not overly impressed. I'm glad we ended our trip on a high note. The tiramisu is incredible. Make sure you save room!

Best eggplant parm I've ever had. Cocktails great too. Only downside is that it gets very loud sometimes.

Our party of three visitors to CHO found Tavola for an early dinner on Friday. Quite busy & we had no reservations, so sat at the bar, which worked out perfectly as we could watch with great interest the bartending talents of the skilled staff making so many creative & exotic concoctions. Big props for the brown butter bourbon cocktail. Dinners included a vegetarian version of bucatini all'amaratriciana (nicely spicy), the king salmon, & a pappardelle bolognese that the diner pronounced the best he's ever had, including a legendary dish in Rome. Everything was very good. Great cozy atmosphere. We would return!

Awesome experience overall. Fast and friendly service. Great cocktails. Not too noisy for a Saturday night. We ordered the beet salad, bread and olive oil, a lobster pasta special, and the carbonara. They surprised us with a Caesar salad that didn't have a home, which was delicious. Carbonara was extremely peppery, a bit too much pancetta, we would not order again. Wife loved beet salad. Lobster pasta was good. Ordered tiramisu for dessert which was divine. Overall 4.5/5

Went here for a birthday celebration dinner, the pasta was pretty good! A little overpriced if I'm being honest, but overall pretty decent. The staff was amazing and extremely helpful and the vibes in the restaurant were really cute and cozy. The drinks were okay, nothing over the top. I don't know if I'd go back or not.

Tavola it's one of my favorites from a long time now and that it self shows competence and truthful quality. The food is accordingly, the service is adequate and the ambiance is neutral.
