Tavola Rustica - Larkspur

Fabulous food, warm sincere hospitality, and lovely atmosphere. The wine list is refreshingly interesting and delicious. The persimmon buratta toast was as sumptuous as you could imagine, but somehow delicate. Their nebbiolo braised oxtail pappardelle was complex and rich without being heavy. If I had a grandmother who cooked, this is what I imagine she’d make. Took home the tagine for my vegan partner who devoured it & loved its peppery heartiness. If you’re someone who is sensitive to terrible lighting, you’ll love it here, and you’ll look gorgeous in the rose-gold hues. Can’t wait to go back!

Decent restaurant. Some dishes were really good, some were eh. The pesto ravioli and eggplant parm were absolutely incredible. The meatballs were pretty good, and the pizza overcooked and eh. I felt like the flavorings and dishes were generally good but the major reason I docked a few stars is the ingredients didn’t taste or seem to be too great of quality. The breads seemed store bought and spongy, the meatballs used poor quality beef and pork, etc. For an expensive local familial restaurant I thought more of the menu would be handmade. The pasta and pizza I believe were handmade. Personally, I’d skip this restaurant. If anyone does go though, I think pasta dishes are their speciality. I legitimately enjoyed the Pesto Ravioli and Eggplant Parmesan.

Overall A: consistently delivers truly exceptional Italian food, service, atmosphere. Supper of delicious handmade petso pasta ravioli, bolognese, pistachio ice cream. Highly recommend.

Nice new option in Larkspur. Food is good but can use some fine tuning. Frito Misto was almost all lemon slices and small bits of veggies, with one shrimp. Not the mix I expected for an expensive appetizer. Lots of pesto dishes, which I love, but their version is unusually mild; seems like it needed more garlic and/or nuts. The steak was well cooked and very flavorful - as long as you like pepper. The broccoli that came with it was well flavored but undercooked; stems almost raw.

Great new restaurant in Larkspur, I love the Vegetable Tangine, they removed the dill yogurt for me to make it vegan. It is served physically hot, between the Fregola and the Vegetables, the sauce felt light and full. I want to try a pizza, and ai am already wanting this dish again! Amy enjoyed the risotto and we split the Little Gem salad, which is why it looks small. The salad looked basic, and delivered like you can and should when you are here in the Bay Area. The lettuce was delicious, lightly coated with a vegan Green Goddess dressing which accented the crisp leaves, perfectly ripe avocado added to the rich contrast and crunch of the thin slices of radish and croutons. I’d eat this salad any day! We weren’t in for dessert, next time I’ll indulge with some sorbet!

I decided to try the Rustic the day I returned from a weeklong trip to Italy. I was not disappointed. My group shared their little gems salad which was so fresh and delicious and two pastas and a pizza. We also topped off the meal with their tiramisu. The food was plentiful and truly rivaled some of what we ate in Italy in terms of quality. Service was also top notch. I love Picco just as much as everyone else, but this place is just as good and way less crowded. Definitely going back soon to try out their weekend brunch!

We decided to try this place for date night. I would say the service was OK and the food pretty average. Specifically, the host was friendly, but also a little condescending. The waiter was OK but when he first approached us, he did not offer to take her drink order or tell us what the special soup was. He did come and check on us during the meal and he paced the courses. The food was pretty darn average. We had the Barada salad and it was pretty thin on tomatoes, which certainly did not appear to be heirloom. There were maybe three or four wedges of tomatoes. The shoe string fries were good but the sauce that they came with pretty much tasted like thousand island dressing. The branzino was good but very small and did not melt in our mouth. We had a side dish too but it was pretty darn average. Overall, nothing to write home about and on a street that is home to Picco, left bank, Perry’s and Keiko, I would go to those places first.

As soon as I walked into Tavola, it felt very inviting. Amazing staff. I've had good pizza but Tavola's pizza was fantastic. Can't wait to try the rest of their dishes. And check out their other location in San Francisco on Church and Market. You won't regret it!

Very bland food... we were hoping for authentic Italian food since this Italian restaurant is #1 in Marin County on Yelp, but our experience with the food was the complete opposite. The servers were great, but food was lacking in flavor. Lamb was hard and tasteless and bolognese was very plain tasting- nothing special. Amici's the chain restaurant could've done better. My advice is to save your money and find another restaurant worth the hype. We ended up walking down the street for better food.

Always a solid meal, reminiscent of Italy. Very attentive and careful service. Friendly neighborhood ambiance. So happy to have it in larkspur.

We had our holiday dinner here and could not have been happier. The team at Tavola Rustica, led by Zoti (Owner), were friendly, attentive and made our experience stellar! The ambiance was perfect, festive and warm. The food was delicious! I would recommend this for any large party or a cozy dinner for two! The restaurant is so accommodating of varied dietary needs: Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free!

Nice restaurant. Parking can be difficult but the food is pretty good. Pasta was tasty I loved the seafood in it. Complimentary bread was mid but branzino was nice and fresh.

Another amazing night here at Tavola Rustica, and i must say the service is always spot on! We had a plate of pasta - Orecchiette and my husband ordered the Butternut Squash risotto, along with a nice bottle of wine from St. Helena. Always a good time!

I had Locanda on my list of places to try and unfortunately never got the chance before The Rustic took over. The space is very cute and the tables near the window have lots of natural light and are very pleasant. Like dining in a cottage. The menu has lots of yummy sounding items and we chose the mussels and the pizza. Both were absolutely delicious and portion of mussels was very generous despite being an appetizer. I loved dipping in the complimentary bread into the broth. The shoestring fries that come with it are perfectly salty and crispy! The pizza was thin crust - not quite Neapolitan but I preferred this version more anyways. Can't wait to come back to try their homemade pastas. Service was very attentive and nice. Overall a great place to get lunch in the area

We met friends for dinner on Thursday night. Wonderful patio. Had the pasta/broccoli/sausage pasta it was absolutely delicious. It's nice to go to a restaurant when you don't have to shout thru your meal to hear each other! This is another reasonable, delicious, anyday dining restaurant for Larkspur.

This is my second time visiting this location, but it was known as Locanda Marin last time. I enjoy rustic experiences haha. Hence, here I am. I had their soup of the day (seems to be a rustic tomato soup that is made denser), spanish octopus, and vegetable tagine. The sharp lemon taste of the salad balances well with the umami taste of the octopus. I get the vibe of the homemade goodness, although I would prefer the tagine to not have so much oil leftover since it is nearly sitting on a mini-lake of it. Nevertheless, the taste is on target and renders the restaurant promising. Additionally, their hawk-eyed staff is there to see to it you will get whatever else you may need. Joy! That's great!

Modern but has the Rustic feel, just as you would image from the name. My wife and I were seated next to big window looking out into the beautiful forest of Mt Tam. We had the Spanish Octopus, delicious! Chicories Salad, nicely done. The Oxtail Pasta/Ragu, out of this world! We had great service. Even though it is a long drive for us, we are Coming back!

We went on an evening that had been hot by day. The only downfall of our experience was how incredibly warm it was in the restaurant. No air or fans so it was a bit uncomfortable. Service was excellent and food was great. We really enjoyed the meatballs, the gem salad, the pizza and the pastas. The steak was well prepared and yummy. We will definitely return!

I've been there many times. The food is consistently good. The owner and staff are cordial and inviting.

So very glad they replaced Locanda which, IMHO, was a letdown from the Roma Antica days. Zoti is a great guy - he knows his wines. I was over the moon delighted and surprised to find Bresaola on the menu. (Carnivore here, sorry). Bresaola is a dry aged beef (not raw) that is sliced thinly like carpaccio and served atop arugula with capers, shaved parmeggiano, olive oil drizzle, and a wedge of lemon. One of my all time faves. I also have had their braised lamb shank which was fall off the bone tender and delicious... though my taste tends toward more salt, which one can always add at table. The dessert, dondurma -- a stretchy, dense, and chewy mastic ice cream that originated in Turkey during the Ottoman Empire was like nothing I've ever had. Angel pillows...

The newly opened Rustic Restaurant is a gem! Their Burrata Caprese with Pesto and their fresh focaccia bread is fresh and flavorful, and the service with David is warm and attentive.Highly recommend for a great dining experience! Congratulations Coti and welcome to Marin we needed you!

This place used to be five stars a few years ago when I came here. Tonight when we came the pasta was good but the start focaccia was not very good and the little gem salad was pretty bland. The wine, service, and main pasta dishes were all pretty solid, but not like I remember years ago. I would come back to try some other things but my oxtail pappardelle was less than stellar. Really nice place though.

The Rustic is a new addition to our neighborhood so I decided to give it a try with my friends who were visiting from LA. All I can say I was pretty amazed with the quality of the food and the service, certainly exceeding my expectations. We ordered octopus, oxtail pasta, clam linguine, and braised lamb. Everything tasted fresh and the staff was attentive throughout the night. Overall, I am highly pleased with our neighborhood's new gem.

Had a reasonably good meal on a busy Saturday night. Seemed a bit rushed to get orders in move is along. There is a heavy door between the front dining/ patio and the main indoor dining room that repeatedly slammed throughout our dinner. Not just notable but made us jump the first time. It slammed about every 90 seconds or so. Cannot believe they didn't notice this and fix it!! Nice waitress and group but that door!

we had just returned from Rome and saw the restaurant from across the street at the pizza place. Thankfully, we decided to have a real Italian meal, and our expectations were more than met, exceeded! The service was absolutely impeccable. The ambience was just right, making me feel as though I was sitting in a restaurante in Rome. they had a great selection of wines and my wife had a superb Chardonnay. our dessert was absolutely wonderful not too sweet just like the European desserts. I can't say enough about this restaurant!!!

New restaurant we wanted to try and very pleased by quality of food and attentive service provided. We will be back and anxious to explore other menu offerings. Very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with staff genuinely interested in assuring a wonderful dining experience.

Peach slices with burrata on arugula was epic! Mushroom pizza was tasty. Ambiance was great! Would recommend.

Just had a ladies lunch at Tavola and it was really lovely. I loved the music they had playing and they show an old movie on one side. The fried olives were tasty. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. The atmosphere is very charming and comfortable, although the great music was playing it was at a level where we could have nice conversation. The service was very good and they didn't rush us.

Take out from our favorite place for the first time tonight, we usually enjoy dining in but got a bit lazy tonight and decided to order in. Everything was delicious, packed well and stayed warm, you can tell there is love in the cooking!

We're from Hawaii and on vacation. We do like to support small businesses and especially ones that are just opening up. I gotta say this place, the food is fantastic, service was wonderful. Jose was our server and he was so nice. We will definitely be back when we come back to San Francisco

The food and ambiance were great! I highly recommend giving this place a try... I had the pappardelle oxtail as my main course and shared fried olives, a little gem salad, and mushroom pizza with the table. The fried olives were stuffed with anchovies, giving each bite a savory and delicate taste. The pappardelle was al dente, and the oxtail was obviously slow-cooked, melting into tender pieces with each bite. The wild mushroom pizza was wood-fired and topped with mushrooms (obviously), fontina cheese, and truffle oil. The mushrooms were sliced thinly and in small pieces, while the truffle oil created a well-balanced flavor in each bite. The ambiance was very relaxing, and the staff was friendly and attentive. We sat on the back patio with a view of the trees. There's no need to mention their great variety of wine selections--you'll see for yourself on the menu!

The Rustic - Magnolia St. Larkspur Great food, great people. You may recognize The Rustic from its SF location, but there is now a location in charming downtown Larkspur. The Rustic (not to be confused with Rustic Bakery) serves fresh Italian/Californian fare. We've eaten there several times and have been delighted with the seasonal fresh food. They have wonderful pastas and pizzas and great veggie sides and starters. I'm particularly fond of the lemon ricotta ravioli, the wild mushroom pizza and the tagine veggies. My partner's favorite is the fried chicken with delicata squash and grape. Start with the fried olives and peach and burrata toast and you won't be sorry. Another lovely thing to note is that when Zoti (the owner) took over the Larkspur space after the restaurant there closed, he offered jobs to everyone who had worked at the previous restaurant. He cares very much about the community and his new team. Please give them a try! They are a great addition to our community.

Ambiance was very nice with patio heated seating and cozy throw blankets. Service was outstanding with attention to every detail. Food was absolutely delicious and fresh. Had meatballs, bronzino, parpadelle. All excellent. Wine list had great selection. Will be back!

I could not love this place anymore! Today was our first day eating here and everything we ate was better than the next. We had the octopus and a pizza and the avocado toast. The ice cream is super unique because it's straight from turkey and absolutely delicious. My husband had the Italian sandwich which blew us away. Super tasty and I can't wait to come back. Super happy they have come to Larkspur

Very friendly and warm local Italian gem. Greeted warmly by all of the staff, including the owner. We sat inside for my elderly mother in law, but the cool evening Marin breeze made it so pleasant. The atmosphere among the trees, and the soft hum of the kitchen was inviting. And, then, the food...really fresh, and expertly prepared. The Branzino was just beautiful; the Pappardelle Oxtail with the 6 hour braised Oxtail was truly a delightful experience. And the service was just wonderful. Welcome to Marin, and we will definitely return to this warm and wonderful place.

The service was pretty good, the food was pretty good as well. But the ambience is terrible. I ended up sitting right across from the kitchen. It's a long bar kitchen that's open. Not an attractive one at all it was noisy and so was the room we were eating in. This location used to be a fish and chips joint. Just not very nice inside not a pleasant experience inside. Our waiter was excellent. The staff was very nice. It just the overall ambience is not very good. You definitely don't wanna go here if you're looking for a quiet, romantic experience.

My family dined at Rustic Restaurant mid-week, and took advantage of a super quiet atmosphere, attentive wait staff, and big portions of delicious food. A silent, classic movie was being projected onto the brick wall, that caught just enough my my 3.5 year olds attention that he quietly stayed in his seat coloring while waiting for what was a beautiful pizza, shaped as mickey mouse. Ownership came over and told us about the history of the restaurant, his motivations to expand the business, and even treated us to a dessert. We will definitely be coming back here - The closed in outdoor seating and heatlamps allowed us to enjoy the evening while staying warm, where other restaurant options limit outdoor eating in colder weather.

What a pleasant surprise! The wait being too long at Picco Pizza, we decided to try out the new Larkspur addition. The owner was the wine director at Chez Panisse for 14 years and it shows. Tuna Crudo, Truffle Beef Tartare and 2 Pizzas, washed down with a bottle of Burgundy. Everything was perfect, and, as a bonus point, the staff was super friendly and accommodating.

The food and service were good. However I would like to see eggplant parm and lasagna on the menu . I love that the pasta is house made but would like to see more choices.

So cold outside! They need to improve on their porch cover, it moves a lot with the wind and freezes your legs. Barely could enjoy the food. The restaurant next door is better.
