"Seattle restaurateur Ethan Stowell’s anticipated Spokane outpost of Italian restaurant Tavolata is now open as of May 3. Find the 126-seat restaurant in downtown Spokane at the historic Old City Hall building adjacent to Riverfront Park. Ethan Stowell Restaurants veterans (and newlyweds) Tania and Scott Siff will run the Spokane outpost. Had a reservation for 6 people so we were seated right away when we arrived. The food was awesome but they were running behind due to kitchen issues, and the service was slow. We weren’t in a hurry so we really didn’t mind too much. From the time we sat down to the time we left it was 2 hours and 20 minutes. Staff were Apologetic. We did enjoy ourselves

Google
Service was great. Most of the food was just ok. The ceasar salad was the highlight. Definitely recommend that and it’s big enough to split as a couple. We got the burrata and would rate that a 7/10. It was a little over dressed. Burrata is so good that I felt the sauce over powered it. My husband got the potato gnocchi and rated it a 8/10. I had the carbonara and would rate it 6.5/10.

It was an amazing experience during my trip. The waitress was spectacular and treated us like we were one of theirs. I tried their Brischetta and the Shirley Temple and it was delicious. This is place is very flexible on payments and seating arrangments when me and my friends wanted to sit together. Overall, I would come back here again if I get to visit Spokane again.

Google
Tavolta has a great atmosphere, yummy food, enjoyable 'spirits', espresso and excellent service. At 1st I got Papperdeli which I heard is one of their popular dishes. My husband got the same thing and loved it, but it was too spicy for me. The waiter Garrett had been taking such good care of us he really encouraged me to try something else so I agreed. I switched to a small serving of the Potato Gnocchi and it was so scrumptious 😋 I loved 😍 it!! Then he even comped that portion of our meal. Our friend celebrating his birthday shared some of his delicious mouse and biscotti (? Name) and wow! We were all happy. We ended up being the last too leave. It was lovely to spend our evening there. Not inexpensive but high quality worth the money.

Google
Summer Parmigiana And The Smoked Salmon Bruschetta. Both Tasted Exquisite. Portion Size Compared To The Price Of Summer Parmigiana Was Disappointing Though. Also Portion Size Is Small Especially For A $20 Appetizer….

Google
My friends and I met for happy hour and we were not disappointed. We sat in the bar and enjoyed fun drinks. The happy hour menu is fantastic, with plenty of options. We shared numerous plates; hands down the brussel sprouts were my favorite! I needed some protein so opted for the chicken and ricotta meatballs - solid, although I do feel they lacked some seasoning or a kick of some sort. I enjoyed the Gnocchi alla Romana (a semolina gnocchi) and the Tiramisu was perfectly done, not too sweet. I would definitely come back to try more. The atmosphere was modern yet laid back. Our server was very attentive but gave us space/time. Restrooms are clean. Obviously, being right in the heart of downtown, parking isn't free. Plus, a challenge unless you use the Riverfront garage.

Google
Came here on a weekday with some coworkers for dinner. It wasn't busy so we were seated immediately and the service was fantastic - attentive but not overly so. We ordered a number of small plates, a couple pastas and entrees to split which was perfect. Definitely get the Brussels sprouts!! Overall, highly recommend!

Google
Incredible experience! My husband and I visited for our anniversary and everything was amazing but especially the service. Everyone we encountered went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. Special shout out to our bartneder, Tyler, for delicious drinks. The food was really high quality and we loved sitting on the leather sofas in the bar.

Yelp
What a fun Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Spokane. A truly amazing happy hour with huge portions and variety for any palate. The Cacio de Pepe was an awesome dish. Would definitely dine here again in the future.

Yelp
House made pasta is always better, and Tavolata does it well. My favorites are the semolina gnocchi and tonnarelli. The gnocchi are like fluffy little pasta pillows and their marinara is just delicious. During my most recent visit, I tried one of their mocktails. It was a non-alcoholic Negroni and tasted so close to the real thing; my tastebuds were very convinced. So good! Great happy hour spot, too!

Yelp
There are so many restaurants to choose from in Spokane! I deeply regret we settled on the seemingly authentic Italian restaurant that was once the home of Olive Garden. I missed Olive Garden . The Caesar salad was watery and discolored; less tasty than a bagged Caesar. Both pasta dishes were, in spite of a list of interesting ingredients, absolutely average. I was ready to say "deeply disappointing!" had my server inquired about the quality of the meal. There was no such inquiry. The good news is, I appreciate my own cooking.

Yelp
I sat at the bar as a single person. They gave me just the right amount of attention. Attentive when I wanted it and left me alone when I didn't. The Tavolàta salad was excellent! Crisp, cold greens. The Calabrian chili vinaigrette had just a bit of kick to it, but was not overly spicy. The pistachios were a surprising foil to the greens; they worked well. The pecorino looked like a mountain but turned out to be the right amount to balance the bitter radicchio. The portion would have been fine for two people. My only complaint was that the greens could have been in smaller pieces; I had to knife and fork it. The ravioli dish was good, but had a few shortcomings. Presentation-wise, it was beautiful! The mustard greens, cheese, pasta, mushrooms, and sauce all went together well but it took a fair bit of cutting up and arranging to get them all on one bite. Personally, I think that pureeing the mustard greens and chopping up the mushrooms and adding them to the pasta filling would have made for a much better eating experience. The pasta itself was well-made and had a silky yet toothsome quality; my hat is off to the pasta maker! The carrots were more eye candy than something that added to the dish; they were very firm and didn't add much flavor-wise to the dish. Would I return? Yes! I'd try a different pasta dish next time.

Yelp
I am a major fan of Ethan Stowell restaurants and a very regular customer of Tavolata in Seattle. I was looking forward to trying Tavolata in Spokane for the first time and I have to say that I am disappointed. The music inside the restaurant was ridiculously loud and we had a reservation indoors and Really didn't desire to sit outside. We ended up doing so because it was so loud. A restaurant isn't just a place to eat food, it is also a social event. When you have to yell to speak to the people at the same table, it isn't a very good social event. We had a reservation for five people and the tables out on the patio were for four people so my wife and I were happy to, move the relatively light and easily tables outside, but we got stinky from a Tavolata staff member for doing so. The lasagna, my wife was served was more salt than lasagna. My steak was permeated with gristle. My espresso cocktail was good, but I'd appreciate an indication on the menu of the level of sweetness or a warning that it is more sweet than coffee. There were no heaters nor blankets and since we weren't planning to sit outdoors, it got somewhat chilly. This is probably one of the finer restaurants in Spokane, so it is a shame that it doesn't live up to what it should be.

Yelp
The food was great, service was good. The $35 corkage fee completely turned me off and I won't return as a result.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday evening with my two kiddos. Reservations are available to make on their website, but we didn't have any as it was a spontaneous meal/outing. The hostess said the wait for dining was 1 hour, however there were spots in the happy hour section and we decided to go there. AMBIANCE: Located on the backside (river-side) of the mall. The vibe is cute, modern, and trendy! PARKING: Street metered parking is available if you are lucky. The mall does have a parking structure that you pay for time, but it can be a little pricey. SERVICE: The server who helped us was nice, but our overall dining experience was a disaster ): We waited 30 minutes for our 2 appetizers to come and 60 minutes in...we still didn't have our 3 pasta dishes. The server said it was "a mess" in the kitchen and it seemed like our order was second up. I kindly asked for to-go boxes and the check to help speed the process since my kiddos were beginning to get hangry and fussy. When we finally got our food, our order wasn't correct. We ordered 3 of the pastas (Spaghetti, Rigatoni, and Pappardelle), but got 2 rigatoni and 1 spaghetti. I tried to switch it out, but the server kindly advised against it due to the kitchen being "backed up." They also gave us our appetizers again boxed up. They ended up letting us take home the extra appetizers and comped 2 pastas, but this was such an awful experience for my family that we will no longer be returning. The server did mention that the Nutcracker had a show this evening leading to the influx of guests, but the restaurant looked maybe 70% full? Who am I to judge, but there seems to be some serious management/guidance that needs to be addressed in the kitchen especially so that they are better able to handle a "larger crowd." HAPPY HOUR: Daily from 4-6pm. Prices are about 2/3 the cost of regular menu. Unfortunately, the food also was not enjoyable. ): -TAVOLATA SALAD ($12): This salad has gem lettuce, Calabrian vinaigrette, red onion, mama lil's peppers, tomato, cucumber, pistachio, and pecorino. Man this was a salt bomb. Definitely has a little spice too! -BRUSCHETTA ($12): This comes with smoked fish, pickled onion, and aioli. A unique take on your usual bruschetta, our favorite dish of the night! -SPAGHETTI ($15): Your classic dish comes with tomato, basil, chicken & pork meatballs, and parmesan. Another extremely salty dish ): with mediocre flavor. -RIGATONI ($15): This comes with spicy sausage, tomato, marjoram, and parmesan. Similar to the spaghetti, it came out super duper salty and the flavor was just not there.

Yelp
This was my number one spot I wanted to revisit on this trip to Spokane. Service was amazing. Appetizers were great, we got the croquettes and carpaccio. All three main pasta entrees were over salted. Super disappointing. I ate two of my gnocchi alla Romana and had to stop. The kids (two college students) also said their pasta was over salted, they both got spicy rigatoni. They took it all back to their dorms hoping that throwing some jar pasta sauce will help reduce the salt and make it edible. It's been two years since we've been here. Hopefully things haven't gone downhill.

Yelp
Very nice evening in Spokane at Tavolata! Some highlights and not-as-goods... * Service: 3/5. It took a along time to get us seated and our server was pretty average. Definitely needs improvement Appetizers: 5/5. Holy cow the highlight of entire meal. The house Focaccia Bread was incredible and the Burrata was one of the best I've ever had. Entrees: 4/5: mostly good but hit and miss amongst our group! I could have eaten just bread and been happy. The bar area looks nice - next time I might come just for a drink and the apps...

Yelp
Perfect in every way! Cool vibe, fully open kitchen where they were making fresh pasta, impeccable service. We shared: cacio e pepe, pappardelle, mushroom ravioli, broccolini, tiramisu, lemon sorbet. Can't say enough about the delicious food, attentive and friendly waiter and the ambiance. We will be back!!
google avatar

Yelp
We visited for my friends birthday and had a wonderful evening. Katie was our server and she was an absolute sweetheart, very knowledgeable about the menu and just the right amount of attentiveness. The music was fun a 90's R&B throwback and very clean. I also appreciate the open kitchen you can't hide a dirty kitchen that way. The pasta was fresh and delicious you probably can't go wrong with mmuch of the choices but the Carbonara was unbelievable. Much better than the 3.7 on yelp. Probably tip all happy hour entrées are full size meals.

Yelp
Tavolata is one of our favorite date night spots, and it impresses every time. Their food is absolutely delicious, and we love their cocktails as well. The service is great - friendly servers, helpful recommendations, and good pacing. The atmosphere is perfect - you'll feel comfortable dressed down or fancied up for a night out. They have nice happy hour deals, which helps make it accessible for all. I can't recommend this place enough!
google avatar

Lea M.

Yelp
This place is definitely unique in its interior design. Big open seating, reflective mirrors, and a chic bar area with elegant high top tables and super comfortable lounge seating - perfect for a double date for drinks only. To sit in these seats and eat a full dinner may be difficult since the tables are more similar to low coffee tables. Nonetheless the lounge seating gives this place the quintessential Frazier vibe. We didn't have reservations so we sat at the end of the bar where all the drink action was happening. The waiter was mainly all business but did engage my partner in some light small talk. We stayed for drinks only. I ordered a syrah and my partner, a gin & tonic with the bartenders preferred gin - a Japanese brand he chose and my partner seemed to really enjoy it. Maybe next time we'll eat for dinner here and make the proper reservations. This restaurant is definitely a little black dresses dream in case you wonder what to wear. If you've got tables at the lounge seating near the bar, maybe ditch the dress and go for a black sweater & gold hoops.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
I Came during happy hour on a Tuesday and it was easy to grab a seat in the lounge. Place seem like a cool, hip spot. Being an avid foodie a friend in the neighborhood recommended checking this place out. Service was excellent, food was alright. I would of have rated this place 4 stars but the carpaccio was super salty and there was only 1 dish that really stood out to me - Conchigile Nero. On a positive note the pasta was Al dente and cooked to perfection. Sauces were very bold so if you like the taste of more light, fresh, clean tasting pasta wouldn't recommend this place.
google avatar

Yelp
I am wondering why the 3-ish stars?! Every time I have dined here I have been more than happy to part with my money. The food is EXEMPLARY. Get the Hibiscus Spritz. Get the Tavolata salad. The caccio e Pepe is fantastic. The service is pretty perfect, too. I cannot say enough praise to this little gem. Our server Jack, was money, too! 5 stars!!!

Yelp
Came here earlier this month for a business dinner - had folks fly from Toronto and wanted to take them somewhere new and local. Service was phenomenal; our waitress did a great job of answering questions, taking our orders, and swinging by to ask if we needed refills on water or drinks. The drinks were great. I ordered flavored Moscow mules, the others got mixed drinks, and wine which all tasted great. The appetizers were also pretty good, not something "you must have" but delicious enough I'd order again if I was hungry and in the area. Giving this place 2.5 ish stars because of the entrees. I ordered the acorn squash ravioli. I love trying different and unusual dishes and so this was a must try. The ravioli was very Al dente and the flavor was not there. Would recommend this place for drinks and service, but not for a full dinner experience.

John S.

Yelp
Great spot. We always love to sit in the bar and chat with one of the friendly bartenders. The focaccia is amazing, and the entrees are delicious. I wish that they had more protein-rich options, but, outside of that, always an amazing experience.

Jeff G.

Yelp
I can't speak highly enough about this place. The food, was awesome? Great wine selection and friendly service. Just love it. Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Doctor K.

Yelp
I really wanted to give them a 3 star but it's a 2.5. I visited town from Seattle and just went to Italy , so maybe they are just the victim of extreme Italian comparisons. -the location is great -the server was awesome -the decor was great -the bread was good -the spaghetti sauce had no real flavor -the noodles were too thick and undercooked -the portion would be great for 2 people which would be awesome at Olive Garden but not for this place. The main thing is the basics have to be there. The real test of Italian food is the basics and it was an air ball. All they need is good food and they have everything else.
google avatar

Brandi P.

Yelp
Honestly wasn't too impressed. The customer service was great and I will say that they went above and beyond. But the food was not doing it for me. We did restaurant week. The bruschetta was entirely fish (I just thought it was a little bit but it was a mix with some onions on top). The rigatoni was incredibly spicy and had good flavor at first but it was a pine sol like aftertaste. The tiramisu and sorbet were really good though! But the focaccia was so salty I couldn't eat it. I am glad that we did restaurant week so we could explore the menu without paying a ton of money. Again, top notch service but the food just wasn't my vibe. The music was incredibly loud (I didn't mind it but my parents were having a hard time hearing). My highest gripe is the seating. It's all wood and flat and hard. It was incredibly uncomfortable and after a wait (which we didn't mind because we expect it to be busy during restaurant week) it just wasn't enjoyable because the seating is so hard. I wanted to give more stars because of how nice the staff were but everything else just wasn't doing it for me.

Yelp
While visiting Spokane recently, I checked this place out twice! The first was during a girls happy hour and their cocktails are amazing! I ordered the Championship Pony and our group split the roasted beats and the croquettes (yum, yum, yum)! The second was for dinner, and again, they did not disappoint! I ordered the whiskey sour, burrata appetizer, and the papperdelle. Everything was delicious. Service was great and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Highly recommend this spot.

Ron M.

Yelp
Ate here tonight with friends. Service was fine but the food was almost inedible. I sometimes think chefs lacking in talent tend to add spices in an attempt to overcome their lack of talent. In this case the hot spices obliterated any other taste in the dish and no amount of water or wine could extinguish the fire in my mouth or stomach. I will not return to this restaurant.

Melissa S.

Yelp
Tavolata always has consistently great food. The gnocchi and rigatoni are amazing! The burrata plate ingredients and presentation are rotated often, so it is a treat to try to new flavors but know the burrata dish is still on the menu.

Jean D.

Yelp
Used to Love this restaurant. Thought it was the best pasta I ever had. Took a friend from CA whom eats all over the world. What a DISAPPOINTMENT Server young could care less. Bread must have been days old and pasta although good flavor, luke warm. Awful
google avatar

Onglee X.

Yelp
The pasta is phenomenal. I went here for two Christmas dinner parties . The happy hour is the best time go. The drinks and food are amazing. The pappardelle is amazing, the noodles are soft and you can tell that it's made in the restaurant. We also tried the salmon dish and that was very good. Not over cooked or dry , nice and flavor, especially with the olives. The bread is delicious and it's served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I can't wait to come back and try more pasta dishes .
google avatar

Angela N.

Yelp
We went for a business meeting and the meal was pre arranged. Service was great and everything we ate was delicious. Fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and quality ingredients. Well done and very enjoyable.
google avatar

Kim R.

Yelp
Honestly the worst Italian I've ever had. The spaghetti and meatballs tasted like Chef Boy' ardee. The Tagliatelle was noodles with butter and some cut up Costco shrimp. Our server was great, but the food was shameful for the price.
google avatar

Dawn D.

Yelp
This was pretty disappointing. We brought family in from out of town. We had a reservation on Sunday before a show. We did tell them we were going to the show to let them know we were on a bit of a time frame. To be clear though, we we had 2 hours before the show. It started well enough. Drinks and appetizers came out and all was going great. Then, things slowed way down. Entrees were brought out and it was a different story. The pasta was way to thick and tasted under cooked. The ragu was dry with hardly any meat. It took quite a while before our server returned for us. We did have to ask for the drinks that were not brought to us to be removed from the ticket. We walked to the show with 7 minutes to get into the door and seated. We won't be returning.
google avatar

Connie L.

Yelp
New spot in Spokane. Very, very stylish and modern. Space is large, high ceilings and loud when many are present. Food okay. Device is good. Worth a visit though.
google avatar

William K.

Yelp
Shortly after this restaurant opened I went as there are very few good Italian restaurants in Spokane. Everything about that experience was disappointing. Staff, serving size and food. I gave the restaurant another chance yesterday and I was blown away. Everything far exceeded my expectations. Service was excellent and the food was exceptional. Serving sizes were good. Our group arrived within happy hour. We had Bruschetta with smoked salmon,Grilled Asparagus and the Salumi Board for appetizers. All very good and well priced. For dinner we thoroughly enjoyed our meals that included spaghetti, Rigatoni and one had the Pappardelle . Drinks were measured Marriot style. I encourage you to give it a try.
google avatar

Richard A.

Yelp
We came here as a party of about 17 which included a handful of kids, but mostly adults. They had no problem seating our large group and the service was great! They were very accommodating and found us space and a table big enough to host our group. The restaurant is big and spacious so we never felt cramped. I ordered the Rigatoni which was really good! And way more than I could eat, wished I had taken the rest back with me but we were staying at a hotel and we didn't have a fridge... bummer. No one complained about the food other than it was really good but more than any of us could eat. Tavolàta is a really great Italian restaurant and has a great ambiance. If you are in Spokane and in the mood for Italian then you won't be disappointed with Tavolàta.
google avatar

Mayra R.

Yelp
10/10 recommend. The food is delicious, the ambience is great, the service is awesome. The bureaus was my favorite dish. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Mary F.

Yelp
I recently attended a wedding dinner here and they were extremely accommodating with my plant based diet. The food was all fabulous and the service was outstanding! Very nice private room was a plus.

Kelsey G.

Yelp
I was really excited to try this spot, but was a bit let down. I have spent some time in New Jersey and know good Italian food; unfortunately this was not up to par, especially for the price. The pasta was undercooked and the sauce did not have the best flavor. I will say, they do have a great happy hour from 3-6Pm daily. I would go back for appetizers and drinks, but not for entrees.
google avatar

Neftali S.

Yelp
To be transparent, the food was terrible. Again, the food was bad to say the least. I wonder if the pasta noodles were even cooked? It was practically raw. Tonight I had, the worst pasta I have ever been served. Raw, undercooked pasta, noodles. I asked for them to remake it because you could bite the noodle and could see that the center of the noodle was not fully cooked. When I asked for them to remake it, they then served me the dish again about 2-3 minutes later. Upon eating, the remade spaghetti it had the same exact texture and hardness. I can almost without a doubt say that they simply remade the dish with the same food I sent back to them. In my personal experience it takes more than 2-3 minutes to cook pasta noodles, even more time because the noodles were regular sized and not thin spaghetti noodles nor angel hair spaghetti pastas noodles. In addition, I was not offered bread and had to ask if I could have bread. I then asked if I could also please have butter because they did not ask if I would like butter. To my surprise I was never given the butter and had to again ask for butter. When I came to the restaurant it was not busy at all, very slow and unoccupied. The bread that came complimentary to the pasta was also stale. I feel bad for writing such a negative review however the service was not the best either. I was not offered a different dish or if I would like the undercooked pasta removed from the bill. I do not think they care about pleasing customers more pleasing their pockets. This restaurant is supposed to be fine-dining but that it is far from it. I imagine after this experience anywhere else will serve better spaghetti, I would rather go to olive garden then eat the food I was served tonight. If you're looking only to have a dish with food on it then perhaps this restaurant can cater to those needs but the chefs clearly do not have passion for cooking. Unfortunately many other reviews share the same thoughts, not only the same thoughts but same exact experiences, 3 other reviews have similar experiences with undercooked pasta so it brings me relief knowing I am not the only unsatisfied customer. I hope the owner or manager will take to heart this post and not see it as a complaint but rather advice, please have the chefs not hurry and make food. Nothing good comes from rushing, take your time. I dont mind waiting 10 minutes or even 15 to have a well made plate of wonderful spaghetti. It is a simple dish does not require much effort just a touch of love and care. Please listen to the customers, the spaghetti is not good and many people are complaining. In total I spent $60.50 for 2 drinks, and 2 plates of spaghetti. My plate of spaghetti was the regular adult sized and it costed $30.00 if you ordered without the meatballs it was $24.00. In addition I ordered a kids sized spaghetti plate for my companion who was not that hungry at the time. Now what I can speak well of was the meatballs. Although they only came with 2 meatballs (cheap) they are well-sized portion and it did have a well balanced and flavorful bite. In total I ordered a kids spaghetti ($9) with two meat balls its an additional $6 totaling to $15.00 and a regular, "Spaghetti" with meatballs ($30) and two $6 dollars drinks in total $60.50. In addition the seating inside is well done. I especially would like to give the lounge/bar area a 5/5 it looks beautiful. However in the end it is a restaurant and is in need of passionate chefs, what they served tonight was sad. The spaghetti was not made with thought or love. Instead, it was mechanically served without the love or care which is the essence of cooking.

Yelp
While visiting Spokane my family and I were craving Italian food and happen to stumble upon Tavolata. I had the gnocchi alla romana which was so light and fluffy. I also tried the Pappardelle which had such an amazing citrus flavor to it. Everything was amazing and the service was great too.
google avatar

Brad P.

Yelp
Happy hour was awesome. Definitely ask for more bread with the burrata though. The osso buco was delicious and the polenta was perfect. My girlfriend also got the rigatoni which was delicious. We will definitely be returning to this place even if it isn't happy hour.

Yelp
What a great surprise to walk into the old Olive Garden and find a gorgeous, sophisticated, yet welcoming space without the slightest similarity to an Olive Garden! We were welcomed as old friends, and our server was impeccably professional -- alert to any need, but not intrusive. We were there at happy hour, and the three of us ordered the three pastas offered -- supposedly "happy-hour" sized for 2/3 the regular dinner price -- But the servings were huge! I would be afraid to face the "regular" size! All three pastas were delicious and very authentically Italian. A side of roasted beets was awe inspiring! Our waiter seemed genuinely delighted to very discreetly surprise the birthday girl with a lovely gelato. We all agreed we had selected the perfect place to eat!

Brianna B.

Yelp
Love this place! This has become the date spot for my husband and me. The service is always amazing. But the food is top notch!
google avatar

Diana L.

Yelp
I am giving 3 stars for the quality of food, poor service, how cold it was inside. We had to wear our coats and hats inside the restaurant. My pasta dish was a disappointment. It barely had any meat and the meat I found was in clumps. My family members also had bad dishes. The server told us that they had low staff and that's why everything was slow. It's definitely not a 5 star restaurant.
google avatar

Helen W.

Yelp
Same quality as the Seattle restaurant. Great service and a good amount of outdoor seating for summer dining.
google avatar

Chelsea Q.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I decided last minute to eat here and it was one of the best spontaneous decisions we've made in awhile! Felt weird not being dressed up for this nice venue but the service was great and didn't make us feel out of place! The food was amazing! One of the best Italian places I've been to! The app we got was a salmon crostini (bruschetta), which was perfect because it was full of flavor but light. I got the calamari pasta and he got the potato gnocchi! Both were very flavorful and comforting. I definitely wish I could've tried everything on the menu lol. Oh- also! The music was such a vibe!! Whoever was on aux was doing it right! R&B classics! We are for sure coming back next time we are in town! Perfect place for a date night or to come and get some drinks with friends!!! My dessert was divine, I can't remember the name of it -a chocolate mousse or pudding w a crumble topperPotato Gnocchi, very silky with a perfect amount of richness!!!

Yelp
I brought my family here for dinner on the patio on a sunny weekday afternoon. Having lived in Seattle and dined at several Ethan Stowell restaurants in the past, I came to this dinner with high expectations and thrilled that Spokane was being introduced to the quality that I had experienced at his restaurants in the past. I was sorely disappointed. The food was of three star quality. There were certainly highlights. The pappardelle on the Happy Hour menu was delicious. The sauce was seasoned perfectly and the noodles made well. The baguette and bruschetta were also very good. The ravioli dish had tasty filling but the pasta was rubbery. The fried oysters were a bitter disappointment. The breaded coating with thick and flavorless and they felt deep fried. The cocktails we ordered were mediocre at best. And then there was the ambiance and waitstaff. A patio in Spokane in the summer must have shade or patrons literally bake. A few umbrellas dispersed haphazardly does not suffice. In trying to accommodate one or two tables there were others asked to suffer in the heat. The staff are either brand new or poorly trained. They are slow, confused, and don't know the menu well. These are issues that I would expect a seasoned restauranteur to have solved ahead of time. They seem like rookie mistakes and Ethan Stowell is no newbie to the food scene. Spokane deserves better. We are not a second class citizen to venues in Seattle. We have a food scene we can be proud of. I had hoped that Tavolata was going to help elevate that scene and instead I would be embarrassed to recommend it to my friends or out-of-town guests alike. I can suggest half a dozen local spots that put this place to shame.

Yelp
Generous portions and flavorful food. I ordered the kids bucatini for my three-year-old. It was rich and filling. I had split it into two portions for two meals since it was a lot of food. I ordered the rigatoni but asked the waiter to throw in some veggies to make it interesting. The chef added broccolini, which I didn't think I would like in this dish, but I did. Love how close this was to the Riverfront Park's splash pad as well. Walking distance.

Yelp
We went with a group of folks. Service was a little slow but you know "COVID" excuse. Food was top notch. Even the appetizers were on point. Pappardelle is by far my favorite and they killed it. No Tiramisu on the dessert menu :( The John Candy (old fashion) was on point, I'll be making those at home with the chocolate bitters. What an addition. The vibe was great, not really somewhere you would take the kids. More of a business class or classy joint. There were no tshirts and shorts type of groups in there so bring your dress pants. We will be back for sure.

Yelp
Great option for Italian food in Spokane. From the food to the service, it was all impeccable. We got the chance to try several things on the menu, and I can say that there was not ONE thing that wasn't excellent. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for some great pasta!

Yelp
Disappointing. Another chain restaurant that succeeds with a good "face" - particularly the refresh of the old Olive Garden - but fails to execute better than average Italian food. The good: lively bar and happy hour with a great server who was working hard in busy room. The bad: The food wasn't bad -- it simply wasn't great. For todays inflated prices at ALL restaurants -- I'm only a repeat customer at great -- the menu was badgered American Italian -- I particularly took exception to the semolina gnocchi that should have been called there "take" on polenta! There pappardelle was just ok -- the noodles took center stage and never allowed the sauce to shine through?!! Assuming since the staff/menu never mentions the use of "fresh" pasta -- that it's not. Peer restaurants in this price range are distinguishing themselves with this simple, effective extra step! (See Texas-based chain North Italia) I absolutely love a charcuterie plate -- but simply could not justify the $18 price based on yelp pics that had been posted? Finally -- and yes petty! If your gonna work in an Italian restaurant-- please learn to pronounce the dishes in a way that somewhat resembles their true calling. Multiple staff mispronounced pappardelle and other classic dishes ? Just don't get it? Disappointed at $75/meal with 2 drinks !!

Yelp
Our waitress was great. The drinks were good. The clams were good although meager. We are here a few months ago and had short ribs which were excellent. We ordered the same tonight and it was a massive disappointment. I am not even sure it was actually short ribs. Seems to be more like culotte steak or flank or something else. No bone. No falling off the bone. Just an undercooked and not-even-warm piece of meat. Massive disappointment. Not good and $38. The prawn pasta was good but I think it had 2 prawns chopped up in it. For $26. I understand prices have gone up and everyone needs to make a living. I would pay more for better food. We won't be back I am sorry to say

Yelp
First, the service. We had reservations for 8:15pm on a Sunday night. Got seated right away. The restaurant was at about 25% capacity. We placed an order for 5 pasta dishes and a glass of wine. 3 of the 5 dishes came out about 40 minutes later. The remaining 2 dishes came out about 10 minutes later. Again, there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant. No biggie, I thought. Perhaps they're understaffed. But then came the food. I think the best way to describe the dishes would be 'bland.' Or better yet, 'utterly blaaaaah.' They weren't horrible. They weren't delicious. They were just 'meh.' Sorta like what you'd expect from Spaghetti Factory. That honestly wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't for their third strike- the price. Our dishes ranged from $23-28 each. After taxes and tip the bill came out to be around $175. $175 for utterly blah pasta...in Spokane. I've been to several of Ethan's restaurants in Seattle and they were all stellar. This one is not even close. Such a bummer.
